BOMB DOT FRIGGIN' COM!!! The BEST and most delicious arepas evaaahh!! I know what you're thinkin'; Venezuelan food... in Spain?! But hold that thought because these arepas are friggin' dynamite! Never been to Venezuela but THESE arepas are officially gonna be labeled as the best that I've tried thus far!
Y'all... I was literally walking to my next tour location as I had a little bit of time to spare. Walked past this place and it smelled amazing. Walked back and realized that it was a Venezuelan cafe. I wasn't even all that hungry so I figured that I'd just come back later. Started walking away and then turned back around. It was the smell. It just... got me. I needed to taste whatever they were cookin' and I just couldn't wait. I needed to try it NOW.
Best friggin' decision that I could have made. Literally. All of sudden I was hungry and all of these beautiful breads and pastries sat in front of me. They all looked delicious but I wanted whatever I was smelling. That's when I saw it; an arepa! Oh man flippin' gawsh! Nearly lost my sh!t. When I tell you that it is so hard to find Venezuelan food in my area. The one place that I've been frequenting is good, but after trying the food here... it just blew that sh!t out of the water! Seriously!
My favorite flavor of arepa is pabellón and of course they had it. Ordered it quickly along with an alfajor for a nice little after lunch treat. For some reason, I thought the arepa was gonna be like a snack size. This is what I'm used to from what I've had back home. I was clearly mistaken. THIS arepa was a whole damn meal. Like an ENTIRE meal all on its' own. It was huge and stuffed to the max! And OMG the flavaaas! Mmmm! So effing DELISH!
First off, that bread! Geezus! Piping hot and crispy like they just made it front scratch. I wouldn't doubt if they had because that's what it tasted like. The tasty beef shreds, the black beans, the sweet plantains, and the crumbled cheese... mmm just heavenly together! It created the most beautiful flavors in the world. I was hooked Instantly. Every time I bit into this thing, my eyes started rolling to the back of my
head. So crazy because this is probably considered cheap street food but in my little mind, it's state of the art. Plus, it really IS cheap in price. €5-6 will get you one super filling and scrumptious arepa.
Their cafe is small but super comfy and cozy. Also, this place is poppin'! After I sat down to eat, several people came in and a small line formed and the place got busy. This seems like the local neighborhood gem for sure. Also, the staff is very sweet and they speak English! I actually tried to come back here again, but they were closed. I think they close around 6 or 7. But my Gawwwd was it good! This is one of the places that I've been dreaming about ever since I left. I would without a doubt come back here again on a future visit. Excellent little gem! read more
