On our first morning in Barcelona, we happened to stumble upon this small, local, Mom-and-Pop-run cafe. The owners did not seem to speak much English, but luckily my vague remembering of high school Spanish and fervent gesticulations sufficed. We ordered the classic jamón ibérico, a Russian salad, and two smoothies (containing mango, papaya, guava juice, and pineapple, among some other frutas I cannot seem to recall).
The smoothies were perfect for the hot day in store. Made from only the fruits and juice base, it tasted fresh and delicious. The jamón was also amazing, and this experience set our expectations high for upcoming dining experiences.
We wound up returning to this cafe 3 other days for breakfast (3 of our 7 breakfasts there)! There was no other place that really hit the spot quite like this one. Or perhaps we were just major suckers for a good smoothie. Either way, it speaks volumes when two tourists spend 4/21 precious meals in a new city at the same location! A must-try for anyone in the Barcelona area. read more
