My fiancé and I decided to begin her wedding dress shopping this last Saturday with hopes of finding something for a surprise wedding late November. Our hopes were low in finding her dream dress considering the circumstances. We went in at 4:30pm when Kathleen closed shop at 5:00pm. Like I said, not ideal nor were we expecting to find a dress that day. We walked in and immediately were given 100% attention. Kathleen is the owner and she took every detail my fiancé said and searched her entire store over for the perfect dress. She tried on three dresses. The final dress she put on was THE ONE. Kathleen found a dress that was not even in her system yet. My fiancé wanted lacy and an open back. She found her dress she has been showing me on Pinterest for months now. All I can say is WOW, Kathleen was able to find a wedding dress in under 45 minutes that blew my fiancé away. I've spent a little over 2 weeks deciding whether I was going to write a review or not. After a lot of consideration, I decided I should. This isn't pretty. I got married on Sept 1st, and went to Bend Wedding and Formal for my husbands tux. We should have known from the start this wasnt going to end well, but we decided to look passed the red flags. The owner, Kathleen, and her mother, Yvonne, arguing in front of us about helping us, was the worst. Upon finishing with the tux ordeal, I noticed Yvonne was putting together a beautiful bouquet and decided to ask about flowers. Turns out they do those too! I ordered 1 bouquet, 1 Groom boutonniere and two mothers corsages. Red and white Rose's with blue ribbon, simple right? Fast forward to two days before my wedding. We go to pick up the tux and the flowers. Tux was DIRTY and missing buttons. When we pointed these things out, Kathleen tried to put my husband in a vest that was 4 times too big for him, and pass it off because "he will be wearing a jacket anyway". The makeup on the white shirt she seemed irritated about, when I asked for it to be cleaned. Sorry, don't want to marry my husband with another womans makeup on his shirt. The end product (that we had prepaid for) was so horrible, we ended up having to run around town to find him a suit (that wouldn't break the bank) to replace it for our wedding. Thank you, Macy's. The flowers were HORRIBLE. The red "roses" were wilting and the "white" roses were BROWN. I couldn't believe they handed me these flowers with a straight face. Expecting I would put them up against my dress for pictures? Again, I had to run around to different florists hoping someone could make me a bouquet in 24 hours. Thank the Lord I found Emily. So an unexpected $800+ spent less than 48 hours before my wedding and we didn't use anything we purchased from this place. I hate confrontation and crying in front of people, so of course I didn't say anything. I regret that. I do not recommend this place to anyone. In the future, I will be detouring anyone I know from working with these people. read more

We are going to be having a wedding reception however and for this I do want to wear a more non traditional short wedding dress. They first asked me what style I was looking for and then my budget. I had a pretty low budget so was a bit nervous about finding something. They were extremely helpful and kind, And I found my dream wedding dress within an hour! They even steam and pressed it free of charge! Amazing staff, wonderful selection and great value. I spent less then $200 on a dress everyone else in bend sold for $500. The employees were easy going and went above and beyond to make sure I was comfortable and satisfied with my buy. Been here twice, one for prom and one for a wedding party! I found my prom dress quickly and the alterations were done in 10 minutes! My boyfriend already had his measurements on file for a tux, so that was done quickly although the vest didn't quite match my dress. I had to order the second dress and it came in right in time! I ordered on a Wednesday, it came in on Friday, and was altered and steamed for me by Monday to leave for Colorado the next morning! The manager was very helpful and friendly, albeit a bit boisterous, which some people seem to take as rude. If I could give 0 stars I would. I just needed my bridesmaids dress brought in on the sides about an inch. After getting it pinned and told that it would be no problem to get it done in the one week time period I needed to have it done by I left feeling pretty confident that it would be done. I dropped it off on July 23rd and told them I had to pick it up by July 30th so I could leave for the wedding. Monday July 30th came around with no call, Tuesday July 31st came around and again no call so I call to ask about it and am told that it's ready to be picked up but they just forgot to call me. Okay a little frustrating but not the end of the world. I asked the lady on the phone when they opened the next day so I could come and get it on my way out of town for the wedding and was told 10am. Wednesday August 1st I show up at 9:55am to pick up my dress thinking they will probably give me some sort of discount off my rush fee since they forgot to call and now I am picking it up 3 days later than expected. I stood outside their business until 10:25am when someone finally decided to show up to work. No one seemed to feel too bad about being 25 minutes late to work! First rule of business, never let a customer get to your place of business before you! Especially when you know they are coming in and are heading out of town for a wedding!!! I was beyond pissed at this point. Once we got into the store I was told that they had called me back on July 25th to tell me my dress was done but my voicemail was full and they just assumed at some point I would drive into town to get it without being called. Any business person knows that they should have called again the next 5 days to let me know my dress was done!! I live out in the country and run a business, I certainly don't have time to just drive into town and hope my dress is done. When I'm told I will get a call when my dress is done I assume I will get a call when my dress is done. It's just not that hard!!!!! After being told it was my fault I didn't answer the phone the one time they called, we stood around the computer as they attempted to log in and get everything set up so I could pay. I was so ready to get out of their that I ended up digging around in my purse for cash so I could get going. After all that they still charged me the rush fee!!! Still no real apology either. I didn't look at my dress at the time because I just wanted out of there and had to get going to the wedding in Portland. After getting home I took the dress out to try it on and was absolutely horrified to find that instead of cutting the fabric out and sewing it back together they literally folded the fabric over and sewed one line of stitching so I had a clump of fabric in my side!! A 5 year old could have done the work they did and I paid $60!!!!! PLUS it wasn't even lined up correctly!! I will NEVER go back to this "business" and I hope no one else ends up as screwed as I did. read more

My daughter and I shopped here yesterday for her prom dress. All of the ladies were so helpful. Even with a store full of high school girls, they were cheerful, attentive, and friendly. With less than two weeks until prom, we were informed that we could make any changes necessary and offered a range of pricing options. My daughter found the perfect dress and felt completely comfortable and really excited about her choice. She even commented what a great experience she had shopping here and will be sending her date so that he can get what he needs to match her colors correctly. I see Bend Formal has received some disappointed patrons. I however, had an awesome experience with them. I recently had my wedding in Bend. I was a little slow on getting all the sizes to them (most of my groomsmen were out of state). They made the right alterations in store and we all looked awesome. They don't make you return the tuxedos right away like other stores which is good when you have to round everything up the next morning. I was pleased with the price and thought the sales staff was having fun while we were all hungover and getting fitted for our tuxedos. I would go back and use them again. read more

Strike 1: My husband rented his tux for our wedding. I picked up our attire on a Friday and when he went to get dressed on Saturday an hour before the wedding he realized they gave him the wrong shoes and his shirt was WAY TOO SMALL. We got married in La Pine so he had to race back into Bend to get the corrected attire which stressed us out on our freaking wedding day and made 100 people wait! You don't fuck with peoples weddings! Strike 2: We rented my husband a tux for a Murder Mystery party we were attending. Again, the shirt was WAY TOO SMALL! I don't understand why they can't get it right! Strike 3:So we needed another tuxedo for my husband and he wanted to give them the benefit and hope that this last time would be a good experience. Umm yea no! I had a huge red carpet black tie event that we were attending in Portland at the Art Museum as I was nominated for a top award. IT WAS A BLACK TIE EVENT! While we were there the owner was bossy and bitchy and I got to the point where I stated that we would think about it (because they didn't have the right color of vest that matched my dress which I was buying from there) and we would come back in the morning when they opened. The owner yelled at me saying that she HAD TO KNOW RIGHT NOW! I was so upset that I looked at my husband and told him fuck it as my eyes were filling with tears from her attitude taking away this moment for me, I didn't want the dress and we could find somewhere in Portland to rent a tux. He calmed me down and we ordered the tux and bought the dress. We get to Portland and he puts on his pant and guess what?! Yup you got it right his pants were two sizes too SMALL and he couldn't even button them up! The pockets were bursting out! (I took pictures for proof) The owner had taken apart a vest and sewn together another back piece as he needed a larger size vest. The vest was done so poorly, strings coming out the top around the shoulders, it was a mess. And so my husband had to wear jeans to the BLACK TIE EVENT! It was terrible! He called the owner to let her know that she had given him the wrong size and she argued that those were the pants he picked out and refused to give us our money back. When we dropped off the suit he made them show him the ticket and he compared his size they wrote down on the ticket to the pants size and guess what?! Yup, they didn't match because they fucked up AGAIN! We will never go back there again and we will tell everyone we know (which is a lot of people) in this town. What a horrible place, horrible customer service, horrible owner! She will get hers because Karma is a fucking bitch! You treat people like that and it will come back to you. read more

The younger of the two left "to pick up dry cleaning " and the other woman who had been helping us, I had to keep seeking out for help. I want to take this opportunity to express my extreme displeasure about my recent tux rental for the Saunders/Hunt wedding on 6/23/13. As the step-father of the groom I experienced a very embarrassing moment when the photographer pointed out to me on my first photo shoot about the bright red stitch work to the crotch of my pants. Naturally I was appalled and beat a hasty retreat to the men's room where I was able to apply some black sharpie to somewhat mask this horrendous wardrobe malfunction. My photo shots had to be delayed about 15 minutes for the repair, but this paled in comparison to the utter embarrassment this caused me in front of the entire wedding party. How could this happen, and been completely undetected by your staff? This is totally unacceptable and unprofessional. If I was not leaving town immediately after the wedding I would have confronted your staff in person. Needless to say I would never recommend this facility to anyone in the Bend area and furthermore I feel I should be duly compensated for my trouble. One unhappy customer!!! This was emailed to them with no response. Phone call made, apologies given stating that owner was not there. I asked her to please have the owner read her email and to respond. Still nothing, we felt at least half of our money should be refunded, since 'half' of the tux was totally unacceptable. People, There has to be another tux rental for your wedding/formal function!! read more

I went here for prom twice, within a month. The first time i went in it was a very pleasant experiance. The owner was very pushy but not bad. I saw a dress I liked but it had a hole in it and I don't want to blow $200 on a dress with a hole already in the lace. I bought a dress at macys and took it here to get it hemed. When I went in it witnesses the owner of the store being extremely rude to the couple before me. She yelled at her and her date and said rude remarks. When it was my turn she pushed for my to get a tulle dress steamed and pressed. When I refused her exact words were "you want to go to prom with a wrinkly dress?" In a very rude tone. I went with it and spent $50 total when all I wanted was just a hem. Surprisingly I got a call the next day to pick it up. Picking it up was easy, but when I examined it the next day I discovered SHE DIDN'T HEM THE DRESS. The first layer under the tulle was hemmed VERY poorly, but the layer under was not even touched. The strings were coming off the dress, it was unraveling, was cut very poorly, and I ended up having to burn the strings to keep it from ruining the dress. I SPENT $50 TO HEM A DRESS THEY DIDN'T HEM. read more

I have never had a good experience there. The first time I went in was for prom, briefly, and they were extremely rude to my prom date who wanted to get a tux for an affordable price. It embarrassed him, and me, with their behavior. I recently went in, thinking it would probably be different 5 years later, looking for a simple sash for my wedding gown. The woman in fromt (the manager, I believe) SCREAMED from the front several times for this poor girl doing alterations in the back to come up and show me the sashes, instead of getting up herself and helping me. She then kept interrupting the girl helping me with "suggestions" and never once got up. She also told me I "should have brought my gown in" to match the white, when I was looking for a simple satin ribbon. I was extremely displeased, and won't be back or recommend it to anyone else getting married that I know. The girl, however, was very nice, and I felt bad for her. She tried to give my fiancé suit pants that were altered SO poorly: the hems had visible stitching, she destroyed the waist of his suit pants and then tried to justify it, the stitching was crap -- these people don't know how to work on men's pants, at all. She said she did one of the pants the best she could and then when she saw how unhappy we were she was magically able to make it marginally better - pure laziness. She had the nerve to ask my fiancé "if he would be gaining anymore weight." Who talks to a customer that way?! I was shocked. I have had to use this store twice to buy dresses for my dance class. The first time, the owner was the one who helped me and was very bossy and didn't explain the payment process, making me almost have to over pay for my dress and alterations. When I recieved the dress, it had not been properly fitted at all, about 2 inches too long and the darts made dimple-looking folds on the back(which were NOT meant to be there). The second time, I was trying to simply find out information about a dress I had heard was discountinued. My mother and I went there to see if there was any leftover dresses in the warehouse and were told by the owner she would call the warehouse then call me to let me know if they had anymore. After calling them 5 seperate times with no success I went back to the store. When I got there I had to wait several minutes even though I was the ONLY customer there. After getting the attention of the sales associate who was doing brainless work for the 5 minutes I was there, she was extremely rude, interrupting me every time I tried to speak. I was then told the dress was completely out of stock, and was promised a call from the owner. 3 days later, I'm still waiting for a call. Do not waste your time or money there. Fair warning for anyone planning on buying a wedding dress at Bend Wedding and Formal.... DON'T!!!!!! They are the most ridiculous and unprofessional place... and will rip you off at any price!!... I am seriously regretting buying my wedding dress there.... not only did they mess up my alteration 3 times and LOST my dress... now the woman that did my alterations just had her baby and will be on maternity leave for 3 months and Did not put the cost of my alterations into the computer.... the wedding is in 3 WEEKS!!! and the stupid people don't even know how much my alterations are going to cost!!!..
