Excellent dental care, Professional experience, organized website, take good care of patients

I wish I could give the Britain dental service six stars. I moved to the Raleigh area in December with a tooth that had crumbled so I was in dire need of dental service. I took a chance with Britt Dental because of their good reviews and was able to get an appointment right away. After a thorough exam and viewing x-rays Dr Britt determined that I needed a crown which I was not surprised to hear. The process of providing me with a crown was completely pain-free and I am completely satisfied with the results. Dr Britt and his staff are so friendly and efficient. The added bonus for me was going back a week later to have my teeth cleaned. Loren, the dental hygienist gave me the most thorough and detailed teeth cleaning that I've ever received. Dr Britt is an excellent dentist, I strongly recommend him to everyone. We were his patients/clients for many years . I truly loved him until he no longer wanted to be our dentist! Because his staff refused to work on my husband. We were not allowed to defend ourselves. My husband has a disability, he has a cognitive impairment and not always at his best behavior. I went here in March 2010 on a friend's recommendation, "he's really hot and a great dentist so you're gonna love him!" Well, he is a good looking guy, yes, but I didn't feel very confident there. He's young and though Dr. Britt is nice, his techniques are not very reassuring. It seems that all the staff is nice, but all also very young and pretty. My new patient appointment was made with ease and all the x-rays and cleaning were done well. Then they evaluated my teeth and treatment plan. I know that I have cavity-prone teeth, but they gave me some shocking news. At 27, I'd had one cavity before in my life. I was told to stop eating so many sweets, drinking so much soda, etc. I told them that I don't drink that much soda and I don't eat that many sweets because I don't. We scheduled the fillings... I braced myself for putting the copays on my credit card since I didn't have the extra cash for them. I came in and when Dr. Britt stuck that giant needle in my mouth to numb my mouth I panicked. I don't know why, but they seemed to think it was kind of amusing. I was finally able to tolerate it and allowed him to inject the anesthetic. He left and went to check on other patients while it took effect. The drilling commenced and I waved my hand in the air. I could feel him drilling. He didn't seem to believe me, but gave me more numbing gel or something. We got through the cavity-filling despite the loudness, messiness, and pain of it all. A few weeks later my mouth was still not back to normal and it felt like I had cement in my mouth. I was experiencing great discomfort so I went back in. He seemed agitated that I was back and obliged in cleaning up the filling stuff in my mouth. I went back for my next round of filling and the experience was just as traumatic. I went back again when my mouth was bothering me. I also mentioned to the hygenist that my mouth was bothering me on another side. She said that was where my next round of cavities was and if I didn't get them taken care of soon I might need a root canal! This terrified me, but especially since I certainly couldn't afford them anytime soon. I found out that a friend of a friend was a much more experienced dentist so I went to see him for a second opinion. It seemed to be a bit far from my office, but off I went to New Hope Dental on the northeastern edge of Raleigh. Dr. Petrocella looked at all my x-rays and confirmed the amount of cavities I had been diagnosed with, but also told me that I was in no danger of needing a root canal so I shouldn't put myself into debt over some minor cavities. He said the fillings looked like they were done OK -- not great, but OK -- and that those remaining cavities were so shallow that I could go another couple years without filling them as long as I kept up good care. That was the latter part of the summer of 2010. Fast foward to October 2011. I would be seeing Dr. Petrocella, but his office is too far away from my new job and my apt so after a great recommendation from my fellow Yelpers I headed to RT Dental. My new dentist stated that I did have more cavities, but at least one of the fillings that Dr. Britt had done was broken so he would have to repair it! This was deeply upsetting considering what I've already been through at Britt Dental. I will not be going back to Dr. Britt at Britt Dental anymore. It may be in an upscale area of Brier Creek and decked out to be a really fancy office, but they need to practice with more caution than appearances. read more

Super glad I am writing this review, as the only other one up here is nothing like the experience I had. I was told in 2009 by my dentist in NYC that I had four cavities, but I uh, had procrastinated, and my appointment was the week that I was moving back to the South, so I only had time for a cleaning appointment and two fillings. Fast forward to last week, when I lost my job, and needed to use my dental benefits and my healthcare flex money before both expire on the 31st. Let me tell you how many dentist offices are open between Christmas Day and January 6th...this is pretty much the only one. I found a couple others in the Triangle that were open...but had no open appointment slots. Dr. Britt was personable (yes, and hot), explained everything he did, went over my x-rays with me so I could see where the cavities were, and overall made me feel comfortable. I am currently not rolling in piles of gold, and I think it was apparent that I was anxious about the cost of things; the dental assistant (Heather?) was super nice in a very genuine way, and checked out the price that things would be with my insurance (I have Cigna Low, and it ended up covering 100% of the cleaning, and 80% of the fillings). He also had her check to see if insurance would cover an appliance (I grind my teeth some), but unfortunately it didn't. I didn't feel pressured at any time to accept any services other than what I needed. After they did the topical anesthetic, and the shots, they made sure I couldnt feel anything in the teeth to be filled by putting some cold stuff on a swab and pressing it against those teeth, and asking me if I could feel it. He then put some on one of my other teeth, and THAT I could DEFINITELY feel, so I knew the difference, which was nice. It reassured me that I was nice and numb. They also squeezed me in for a cleaning after the fillings (apparently another patient had come in a little early, so there was a little wiggle room), but the cleaning did not feel at all rushed. My hygienist was Katherine, and she was super sweet, and my teeth felt nice and clean when she was done. Overall, a great experience without having much to go on and basically choosing the first office that could take me. read more

Britt Dental is AWESOME! What dentist can you go to and share healthy receipts all while getting your teeth cleaned and or fixed. What dentist would take your call at 10 PM on a Friday and then meet you on Saturday when he should be with family days before Christmas to glue in a faulty crown (from another dentist) so you would look good for those family Christmas pictures. I have lived in the Triangle area for about ten years and in that time I have had about four different dentists. Of all of them, I have been most impressed with Dr. Britt and his practice. I usually arrive one minute before the appointment time and I'm in the chair in less than five minutes. The staff is knowledgable and friendly and Dr. Britt does great work - both in terms of actual procedures but also providing longer term advice. For instance, he recommended that we pre-emptively pull two of my sons baby teeth to allow the permanent teeth to come in straighter and reduce the odds of needing braces later. One year later, it's turning out just as he suggested it would. Highly recommended. read more

Our family has been going to Dr. Britt for 5 years now since we relocated to the area. They are always professional, always explain everything and are so great with the entire family. Initially, I came to Dr. Britt for an emergency appointment (wound up needing a root canal) and he was so sweet and kind. He really made me feel at ease, then referred me out for the root canal. I came back to him to have the filling done and have never had any desire to look elsewhere for our whole family's needs. They are very flexible with our scheduling needs, emergency appointments, etc. Most important to me is they are wonderful to my kids. They used to hate going to the dentist, but not anymore. Unfortunately, I had a bad experience during my visit with Dr. Britt. I was scheduled to get a cavity filled for a molar, and during the process, Dr. Britt ground away some of the tooth to fill the cavity. The following days, I began to experience some serious pain in that molar. I came back for a check up on the tooth, and I was informed that the molar nerve was inflammed and that I needed to get root canal performed. During the initial visit to fill the cavity, Dr. Britt never told me off the potential risks of grinding away the molar to fill the cavity. As such, I was completely blind-sided to find out that a routine cavity fill would turn into a root canal experience. While the staff and Dr. Britt himself were friendly, the ordeal of getting a root canal and the expenses that followed was not. read more

Dr. Britt is super knowledgeable and friendly, and Dr. Forestier is also genuine and incredibly kind. The office is beautiful and inviting. The staff are courteous and compassionate. Would highly recommend to family and friends! read more

I've been going to Dr. Britt's office for almost 8 years and I am very confident and happy with my choice. The waiting area is relaxing and friendly, which is something I look forward to before sitting in a dentist's chair. The staff greets me by name and asks me how I am doing since my last visit. The equipment seems pretty modern and I enjoy having the television on to relax me. The staff has been great from turning the lights down and giving me a pair of sunglasses when I had a migraine headache. Searching for a kale stem on the back of my uvula (the punching bag hanging from your throat) from a couple nights before (very annoying and they were my heroes for the day). Working with my insurance company during open enrollment week to help with estimating next year's cost on potential services. And the benefit that isn't a small step, but a big deal for me is scheduling when its convenient with me and confirming via email. The office has expanded recently to include Dr. Forrester, which that personal touch hasn't wavered. Truly it's the service this office provides is why I keep returning. read more

I've been going to Dr Ben Britt for years! His staff is very knowledgeable and they treat you like family. Dr Britt is very personable with a splash of Southern charm and does EXCELLENT work - as well as easy on the eyes lol. I get compliments on his dental work from other oral surgeons. I still traveled 2 1/2 hours to their office after I moved from the area because I enjoy this dentistry so much! Congrats Dr Britt & staff!! read more

My experience was very bad. Went for a routine cleaning and it was suggested that I needed a new crown,even though I had no symptoms. Crown was done and went back several times for pain and discomfort which I had not had before. Finally he sent me for root canal, this turned out to be only a partial procedure as the tooth was badly cracked. Now have to have extraction. Have thus paid for a new crown and partial root canal on a tooth that needs to come out. The message here is be very cautious, it it is not mandatory, do not do it, whatever he suggests. In addition, I overpaid, according to my insurance, and I had to notify the office for the refund, although they were aware of it. It then took 2 weeks to get it. read more

After moving to NC, multiple colleagues suggested Britt Dental as my new Dentist in Brier Creek. Now being a patient for over 2 years, I can agree with this recommendation. This truly is the best Dentist I have been to and will continue to visit. I have been to 4 others in my life and there is no comparison. The personality, charisma, and care for their patients shines in each team member at Britt Dental. I have had multiple visits due to Invisalign and these ladies are fabulous! Our entire family goes to Britt Dental. I would consider us a high maintenance dental needs family. We've had Invisalign, retainers, multiple additional yearly children's cleanings, teeth chips, whitening, emergency calls all of which Dr. Britt and his team did quickly and professionally. I have been a patient with Ben since he opened the practice. The techs are really nice, and do a great job. Usually when I show up I am seen within a reasonable time. However once the tech is done, I always seem to be waiting on Dr. Britt to come in to follow up. Even the techs have commented on the wait for Dr. Britt. My wife and I went to the same dentist before transferring to Dr. Britt (closer to my house), and neither of us had a cavity in 15 years. All of the sudden both of us have cavities. So, maybe the other dentist missed them, but I felt they were pretty thorough (and after now having read reviews, it is apparent I am not the only one this ha happened to). I had the cavities filled and noticed there were some really sharp edges left. I went back to have the smoothed. It was almost as if my reasonable expectations of having professional job done the first time were an inconvenience to them. Dr Britt seemed almost annoyed that he had to fix it. My wife had a similar experience when she had a bond done. The coloring did not match. She went back to have it fixed. She got the same annoyed vibe by him. He even commented to me at my next visit that "she just has unreasonable expectations." He was joking and I kind of chalked it up to him just having a little fun with an original patient. My major complaint is the ever increasing rise in price. It seems that every year, my costs go up! I get it, insurance costs rise and he has to pass some of that on to his patients. In February, I went for my bi-annual appointment. He noticed a crack in a filling and requested I have it replaced. I also asked what could be done about a tooth that was discolored. He suggested an internal bleaching. I asked to have a few other fillings replaced with the white fillings. They provided me a quote that clearly laid out costs that I would incur. Since the services requested were cosmetic in general, they explained most would not be covered by insurance. I was fine with that. Seemed high, but nothing compared to what was waiting for me when I showed up to have the procedure done. When I showed up the tech gave me a sheet with the price of my visit. Needless to say my jaw hit the floor. The quote I received a month ago had suddenly shot up 29%. I spoke to the tech and she talked to the office manager. They were unwilling to honor the month old quote. I explained everything to the tech again, she went back to the office manager and nothing changed. I explained I was not paying the extra amount and that I would find a new dentist. After a third trip to the office manager, the tech said basically "it is what it is." They tried to blame it on rising insurance costs. Since the procedure was mostly cosmetic, I was already paying more than 2/3 of the cost out of my own pocket. The price went up almost 30% and they could not explain how my price went up that much even when I was paying the majority out of my OWN POCKET! The office manager never once came out to talk to me directly and I felt as though they just didn't care if I walked. Needless to say I am looking for a new dentist. read more
