I stopped in to grab a quick dairy free dessert and they were able to make me a milkshake with almond milk. It was a bit crowded but mainly with people inside enjoying ice cream I wish they had more than 3 dairy free ice cream flavors but considering that many please don't have this option, it's not a big deterrent. The milk shake was ok, so I took away one star

Non-dairy chocolate chip cookie dough

It's Ben & Jerry's and between what you can buy in the grocery stores and what's offered in the shops, you'll pretty much be covered for variety of flavor. I opted for the non-dairy chocolate chip cookie DC dough in a cup but the smell of waffle cones and sight of brownies will have you wanting to upgrade real quick! This location was busy when I went on a late Saturday afternoon but the line moved quickly. Service was friendly and efficient. It is a small ice cream parlor, so interactions would be limited from my view. Good experience when you need a convenient cold sweet treat! Bonus point for what appears to be environment-friendly spoon.

Yummy ice cream. Ben & Jerry's is pretty solid anywhere you go and I was happy to find it since I originally wanted an ice cream across the street, but it was closed. The workers were very nice, especially the girl who was working at the time. One odd thing that I noticed was that it was 15 minutes before closing and they were putting the gate down already to close up. I'm all for starting closing tasks but ai think it's off-putting to the customers to see the gate going down while we're still ordering or eating.

Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough - midway through eating.

Pros: *Ordered small cup of Vegan Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough ice cream. Ice cream tasted fresh + delicious (huge cookie dough pieces too!) *Large menu w/shakes, smoothies, sundaes, cakes, cookies, brownies, + 30 ice cream flavors *5 non-dairy flavors (Change The Whirled, Chocolate Chip Cookie Dough, Strawberry Marshmallow, Berry Berry Extraordinary Sorbet, + Lemonade Sorbet.) Cons: *Ice cream is pricey - 1 scoop (kids sz) is $5.83, 2 scoops (small sz) is $6.89, shakes/smoothies (small sz) is $8+ - after tax pricing. *Downtown location - will likely have to pay for parking at nearby garage (garage is free on weekends, though). *Value is not the best - portion sizes seem too small when compared to a store-bought B&J pint, which runs for $5.XX. Overall: Quick-serve ice cream concept w/ many unique flavors + sustainable practices (fair trade, wood spoons, etc.) Ice cream is high-quality, but is pricey. Would consider returning to try a cookie/brownie or exclusive ice-cream flavor, otherwise I'd just opt for a store-bought B&J pint.

B&J in Silver Spring

Busy on a Sunday evening with a good crowd and a short line. The folks inside moved it along well. A single scoop of B&J isn't cheap - it runs more than a frozen pint you'd get at the supermarket. But it IS the same B&J quality. I went with the salted caramel brownie. Very tasty, of course.

There was a drip from the ceiling into this filthy bucket.

Great concept of an local dessert spot in a hot area. The location was kind of small and cramped in the corner of the gallery but they had a counter, small seating area and plenty of space to get what you needed and get out. I really have no complaints about this place, but I must admit they do need to do some repairs and they're a little costly. Aside from repairs needed & fluffed pricing, the staff members were sweet and welcoming, and we received our dessert within a timely fashion.

Last weekend I had the opportunity to sample (more than once, shh...) their new Chocolate Macadamia ice cream: chocolate and vanilla ice creams with fudge covered macadamia nuts (sustainably-sourced of course!). It was yummy and left me dreaming about it for days. Then I remembered I still had my free birthday cone coupon that I got for signing up for their ChunkMail. Free ice cream is a good thing. Alas, this location did not have the new Chocolate Macadamia flavor or the Hubby Hubby (temporarily named that way to show their support). Nor did they have the Goodbye Yellow Brickle Road flavor. Humph! I settled for Vanilla Heath Bar Crunch. It was a bit sweet for me, and I had sweet chocolaty macadamia nuts dancing in my head. Maybe next time! Since the weather was cold and drizzly there weren't many takers today. The scooper dude was nice enough; not rude at all like the experience Duncan R. had. I'd have been very cross if I did get my macadamia goodness and had it spoiled by rude service, but that was not the case. While I may not be an ice cream fanatic, Ben & Jerry's always hits the spot.

Lately i have been coming back to this location because they obviously have new staff which serve customers better then the previous people. I stopped coming to this location for years because they always have had ghetto people who dont show respect or patience to customers but latey it starts getting a lot better so me and my friends are back to bem and jerry silver spring. I hope they dont hire individuals who dont care or respect customers..keep up the good job

Good service, great ice cream. I had milk & cookies in a waffle bowl. Downside - there was hair in my ice cream. Ew!

$5.95 for a scoop. Pass. Ben and Jerry must be pretty upset, Unilever is having a field day with their prices.

Interested in some super premium ice cream (aka ultra premium at this business)? Super premium,…read morepremium, standard, and economy are marketing terms used by ice cream makers. The FDA rules (in general) for calling a frozen dairy product ice cream are: 1) it must have at least 10% dairy milkfat. 2) it must weigh at least 4.5 lbs per gallon. 3) the overrun cannot exceed 100%. Super means the ice cream has at least 15% milkfat and less than 50% overun. Each ice cream company has their own definition, but they are similar. Overrun is the percentage of air in the ice cream compared to the starting materials. E.g. If you start with 1 quart of ice cream ingredients and mix it until it expands to 2 quarts, you will have 100% overrun. More milkfat and less overrun makes ice cream thicker, richer, creamier, and smoother. So, my wife and I came here to try their super premium ice cream and sorbet. They have 17% milkfat in their ice cream. We sampled 5 items and bought 4. 1) Pumpkin milkshake It tasted like pumpkin pie with cinnamon, nutmeg, and ginger. No noticeable clove flavor, which was fine with me. It was thick, creamy, and rich while still being easy to drink through a straw. It had a smooth sweetness that was just right. A great milkshake if you love pumpkin pie! The pumpkin ice cream was smooth, rich, and creamy with a great pumpkin pie flavor. It was the best tasting out of the 5 we tried. That's why we picked it for the milkshake. 2) Peanut Butter It had a strong roasted peanut flavor with a moderate sweetness level. The flavor was excellent, but the texture was not right. The ice cream had ice crystals throughout, not just the surface. I hope this was a production error and not the norm. Iciness is not acceptable at $9.25 per pint. 3) Gingersnap It had finely crushed gingersnap cookies in it. It tasted like gingersnap cookies with a strong ginger flavor. It was smooth, rich, and creamy. There were 2 problems: it melted very quickly and the ginger flavor was too strong. Less ginger and a touch more molasses would have made it great tasting. Ironically, molasses makes ice cream softer and melt faster. My photo shows the amount of melting that occurred in less than a minute after scooping it out of the container. I can imagine the mess on a hot day while eating this from a cone. You have to eat this very quickly if you don't want to drink it. This is inconsiderate to the customer. 4) Mango sorbet This had a natural mango flavor with a good amount of sweetness, but not too much. There were bits of mango in it which added some tanginess. It was thick and smooth with no iciness. This was fruity and refreshing! The service was informative, helpful, and friendly. They let you sample as many as you like. There were only 12 flavors available on our visit. They usually have more, but supplies had not been delivered. There are 2 freezers with pints of ice cream and sorbet for sale. The store was clean. They had 7 tables with chairs and counter seating. There are no restrooms for customers. I found the sorbet to be one of the best around DC. Some of the ice cream was disappointing in either taste or texture. The iciness in the peanut butter ice cream was probably due to a mistake that was made during the production. They need to check each batch of ice cream before release. The incredibly rapid melting of the Gingersnap ice cream will turn people off. That's easily fixable. Taste is subjective. I just think it's better to have less ginger as opposed to more. The pumpkin ice cream was an excellent example of super premium ice cream. We will return to try other flavors and give the peanut butter ice cream another try.

They're located on Georgia right next to Denizens, and It's kind of in the cut and hard to see (well it was for me). If you're coming in from East-West Highway (pro tip: don't if you're driving, the parking there is restricted and they tow) you have to walk down stairs between the 1830 building and Denizens to find it. They allow one party in the building at a time. My boys and I went in and the young man immediately asked if we were just using the restroom or also getting ice cream-- I doubt they have public restrooms but I was on a trot after 3 hours out-- and when he realized we were getting ice cream, he didn't allow anyone in until we came out of the bathroom, ordered and left. Very safe. Their ice cream is clean, delicious, and their flavors are unique. I tried honey lavender and It was SOOO good until the very end ( I ate a bit of lavender and didn't taste anything else til I was done). The boys' strawberry ice cream was delicious and NOT pink- we avoid red dyes so this was exactly what we were looking for. The sugar cones are just the right size for the small children and they don't overstuff the cones a la Brusters and Ben and Jerry's. These are just right in size and price for kids. They didn't have a "kids cone" option per se (but I didn't ask) we just did a single scoop. That's one thing I'd like- a cake cone (smaller) with a kid sized scoop. As ir was, I got a scoop and a half helping the 3 year old finish. The 6 year old inhaled it in 2 minutes so it's just about right! Overall it's close to home, easy to get to once you know it's there and had great service plus AWESOME ice cream. I cannot wait to try the ginger, coconut, and wild blueberry! Lo

Calling the selection good would be an understatement. Flavors and styles lined the walls, and they have even introduced seasonal spring drinks alongside their custards and Italian ice. I ordered a gelati, which came with two flavors and the option to add a warm brownie in the center. They also offer prepackaged pints to take home. The only item that could not be sampled was the not fried chicken, their iconic Shark Tank inspired creation shaped like a chicken leg, where the novelty lies more in the form than the flavor. Some flavors had intriguing names like Tiger Blood and Midnight Fantasy, and the staff were more than happy to explain each one in detail. *Midnight Fantasy: featured a chocolate base mixed with chunks of brookie. It leaned heavier with a slightly grainy texture from the cookie pieces, but the chocolate itself was not overly sweet. It worked best when paired with something lighter. The brookie itself was well balanced, with a fudgy brownie component and a cookie that had a snickerdoodle like quality. *Mango Italian Ice: had a clean, fruity flavor and a smooth texture. It was not overly icy and paired nicely with the custard on top. *Honey Milk: was my favorite of everything I tried. The honey flavor came through strongly, both in taste and aroma, while the milky richness added a smooth creaminess. It paired beautifully with the Italian ice and balanced the richness of the Midnight Fantasy. *Spring Break Soda: was an interesting take on a Sprite style drink, with kiwi syrup, blue raspberry syrup, grenadine, and cold foam. It definitely delivered a sugar rush. There was a tropical feel, but it may be best suited for those with a serious sweet tooth. There is likely something for everyone here, and the friendly service makes it easy to find your match. While I would probably skip the sodas, the Italian ice and custard stood out for their quality.
