We returned to the Beltline Bar, after being away from Grand Rapids, in tandem with attending a concert at Acrisure Amphitheater. Throughout our drinks and meal, our server Kayla W. was exceptional! A warm welcome, nice feedback on both drinks and food, checked in regularly to assure we were all set, and shared some interesting happenings. We could not have asked for more! The arrival pace of our appetizer and main course was spot-on, good and hot, had generous portions, and tasted great! When we travel back to GR from Holland, we will be returning to the Beltline Bar. To add to the experience, please add more local and MI beers to the standard fare. Founders and Bells should be well represented. read more

Wow! I used to enjoy meals at the Beltline Bar fairly often, but I wasn't impressed today. Sauces and additions that used to be included in the meal are included no longer - you pay for EVERYTHING! Sour cream, guac, onion, pico de gallo, even SALSA - all at additional charges. You even pay extra for chips at the beginning of the meal. I believe this place is now under new management - GREEDY management. The food was pretty good as always; I certainly enjoyed my wet burrito. However, I'm not certain I want to return after my experence today. The highlight of our meal today was Joann, our waitress. She was very friendly, helpful, fast, and efficient. If I DO return here, I certainly hope to be seated in her section again. read more

The saddest Tacos in the World! Service started off strong--attentive and prompt--but unfortunately, the food didn't come close to matching. I ordered the asada chicken tacos and was initially served ground beef tacos instead. At first glance, I wondered if the chicken was just finely ground and heavily seasoned, but one bite confirmed it was simply incorrect--and notably bland. Round two brought the correct order, but things didn't improve. The corn tortillas arrived already soggy and doubled up in a way that made them impossible to pick up and eat. I ended up using a fork to salvage what I could. The filling was underwhelming: bland shredded chicken, lettuce, tomato and a thin drizzle of oddly shiny "cheese." Overall, poorly executed, lacking flavor, and disappointing in both quality and presentation. Do better. read more

Beltline Bar is an amazing spot with great food, friendly service, and a comfortable atmosphere. You need to set your expectations before you walk in because it isn't fancy by any means, but it's the perfect amount of old school, dive-bar type spot that makes you feel like a local. They are famous for their wet burritos, so that's all I've ever ordered and I've never been disappointed. The servers are always super attentive, including our server Austin tonight, who was always fast and knowledgeable about the food and drinks. If these look microwaved, it's fitting as I've had better chicken enchiladas out of a $1.99 Banquet frozen dinner. The enchilada shells were crunchy, the pulled chicken was tough and completely unseasoned - think chicken that someone boiled for six hours and then smashed with a hammer to get it to separate. The refried beans were dry and grainy , the rice flavorless, which is disappointing because the rice is typically one of the things I enjoyed here in the past. It's amazing this place is still in business. There are far better options in your grocer's freezer. read more

This is the first time trying a wet burrito from Beltline Bar. This is the Old Mission wet burrito. I would say it would be a personal mission to actually finish it all... in one sitting. It's HUGE and packed full of goodness. It has tender steak, like actual steak chunks, guacamole, sour cream, green chilel sauce, rice and beans, absolutely smothered in queso blanco sauce topped with tomatoes and cilantro. I would say the queso is some of the best I've had. The restaurant was very busy during lunch, however, my order was delivered much quicker than I expected. Highly recommended! read more

Beltline Bar in GR must have a loyal following, because people aren't going there for what we experienced tonight. My first visit was about 6 or 7 years ago and I still recall how great that wet burrito was. Because we were in GR today, I wanted to go there again. I saw chimichangas were the special, so hubby and I both ordered one, mine with chile verde and his with queso. Our waitress took our drink order promptly & when drinks were delivered I asked about chips and salsa. The waitress advised those are no longer complimentary and are $3.50. Ok, first surprise. Our food arrived and the chimichangas had two tablespoons of lettuce on the side with a few thinly sliced black olives. No rice, no refried beans. I have never, ever ordered a meal in a Mexican restaurant that didn't come with rice & beans. Second surprise. The chimis weren't bad, just a little greasy and my chile verde was bland. When the check arrived I noticed my husband's 4 or 5 tablespoons of queso was an additional $4.00. And beer on tap was $7.00 each. The final cheap out was at the door. When we arrived there was a small basket of dinner mints, but when we left those had disappeared, the dinner hour was going on at that point. If Beltline Bar didn't have four staff hanging at the front desk, perhaps they could afford rice and beans for customers. The finishing touch was the stinky, dirty ladies room. Yuck. The whole place is kind of dark, worn and crummy. read more

This used to be a favorite stop - after tonight I will never be back. This truly was the worst dining experience I have ever had. Food, drinks and service were all 0/5 stars. The service was slow. We sat without being seen by our waiter for a solid 15 minutes, food took forever. Consistently confused over simple orders. The food itself was awful - do NOT get Fajitas. Truly - two people in our party got them and they were pretty much not edible. So greasy, the beans and rice sat ON the fajita plate covered in grease. No lettuce, pico or sour cream on the side. TINY portions compared to most Mexican restaurants. Queso and margaritas were both over priced and nothing special. (Did I mention OVER PRICED - their prices are higher every visit) Anywho stop in for bad food and a bad time I guess! read more

This place is a exactly the way it was in the 90's. It's not what i'd call authentic Mexican, more Americanized and is very filling. All of this was about $25.00, you get plenty of chips for a couple of people which is average price these days. They do put an automatic 3% onto your bill for market fluctuations, (pure profit for the owners) not sure how I feel about that as a person who runs a food service establishment but I don't think that would prevent me from returning. read more

I ordered a seafood burrito. There was only fake crab inside and was just medium warm. No real shrimp or other "seafood inside. The restaurant looks The same as it did 30 + years ago. Plus they charged me a 3% credit card fee which there was no notice on the menu that I saw. I will nit be back. There are a few great Mexican restaurants in GR but this is not one of them. read more

We visited the beltline bar and did not have a great experience with our waitress. Waitress and service aside, the food was pretty decent. Wish they had other food dish items. I'd say this was just an average Mexican place with a big focus on their burritos, so if that's what you're coming for, you probably won't be disappointed. read more

We visited on Monday, March 9. We had a party of 8 and all ordered meals and drinks. Our server, T was super attentive, friendly and responsive. The food was great!
