It reminded me of an isolation cell in my father's jail (he was a guard not an inmate.). There was a non- working fireplace * No dining facilities except for breakfast * No on site or nearby parking * No sizable bar * Worn appearance in places (see photos). * Steep and narrow steps to get to our room * Scarce storage space * Minimal electric outlets * When making the reservation for our 55th wedding anniversary I told them that we would be bringing our 18 and year old Daschund. They said there would be a dog bed and dog bowls. Unfortunately, Otto had three seizures two days prior to our arrival, and we had to have him euthanized. There was neither a dog bed nor dog bowls. * Only one trash basket in the bathroom * No heat when it was in the 30s in the morning, 40s by midday, 50s by sunset * No nearby restaurants in walking distance * No automatic refills of water or San Pellegrino, you have to ask * No soft drinks or alcohol in mini fridge * Weak internet signal Now, on the good side: Room was large Staff was friendly and responsive It was exceptionally cold Savannah is a quaint old southern town We are accustomed to real five star hotels like the Waldorf Astoria or The Kimberley in Manhattan or any of the Ritz Carlton properties in Florida read more

Perfect for a quick mother daughter trip. We stayed in Room 3 on the ground floor of the private side. It is a good size with a comfy king bed, cozy office nook, and modern bathroom/shower. Come hungry because your stay includes plenty of complimentary food. Tea time from 4-5pm was cute with choice of coffee or tea and several bite size snacks. If you're looking for a non caffeinated option def get the Golden Milk. Plus the evening cookies were a delightful surprise. Of course the star of the show is breakfast from 8-10am. You can order anything off the menu. We split the syrniki (pancakes) and two egg breakfast. Also a side of bacon and fruit. Yum! I had the matcha latte this time and it was great too. The property is absolutely beautiful, on a tree-lined street with a nearby parking lot. It has a long front porch with rockers and gorgeous outdoor spaces in the back. The hotel is in two historic townhomes with timeless but fresh decor. Our room had access to an outdoor porch with a sofa for lounging, but the bathroom with double rain showerheads was the standout. With afternoon tea and evening champagne sabering included, this is a great spot close to everything with plenty of style. read more

TAKE THE TIME TO READ THE ONE STAR REVIEWS...Somebody with quite an imagination created a beautiful website to scam the public.This may have once been a nice property but what I experienced this past weekend at Bellwether House was nowhere near 5 star or Michelin Key. There's no restaurant (there is a breakfast buffet made by what looked like college students dressed in street clothes) and it does not have "pastries and items crafted by local purveyors". This breakfast is also an additional $36.05 per day whether you eat it or not. There is no spa (there is a room with a bathtub and massage table for hired independent contracted massage therapists called in as needed), no luxury linens (there are Viscose sheets by a discount brand and worn towels) and no seasonal programming (after I emailed them for dining suggestions I received phone numbers of places to call myself). There was faulty air-conditioning in 90+ heat (so they rigged up with cardboard an incredibly loud commercial air conditioning machine and never acknowledged it was there), art hung with zip ties, stained cushions, peeling paint, cockroaches on the floor, and over all unclean conditions in my Premium King room. I emailed the management company who just pawned me off to the same GM who watched me walk out the door a day before my booking was up to switch hotels and could not have cared less that I was unhappy with my accommodations. Located in the beautiful, historic part of Savannah, I couldn't have asked for a better stay at this luxury bed and breakfast. The chef did a phenomenal job with the breakfast menu and the staff very friendly. The beautiful bathroom had a deep soaking tub and huge shower. It had a good assortment of necessities, including a hair straightener which was nice with all of that humidity. The room (13) was very spacious and the bed comfortable. We had two exit/entry doors. We stayed in one of the underground rooms that had their own entry/exit to the street. We went for our anniversary and I wanted to stay somewhere unique. Loved the beautiful house especially the brick walls, green tiled bathroom and old fashioned baths. Downstairs was nice and quiet so we slept like rocks! Enjoyed the flavorful breakfast as well. I have to rate the Bellwether House a little lower than I would like. From the start I had a little trouble with the property~ heat in the room not working so I had to ask for two additional space heaters. The TV was more complicated than I would've liked and there were no comfy chairs nor a desk in our room. Were we supposed to sit on the bed to do everything? The Inn-Keepers need to fill in the rooms with comfortable seating and a desk in order to make the rooms more accommodating. Also check the heating systems! The floor was all brick and I knew the room would remain cold so I had to request additional heating units. I had no choice but to check out after one night. Please note this was a basement room so I was under the house along with one other room. The other rooms are probably better but I lost my enthusiasm for this property with one too many negative incidences that made me uncomfortable. The main living room could use pillows ( again to make comfy) and on a cold night they should've had a fire going in their lovely fireplace. These small attention to detail items would have made a difference in my stay but sorry to say this property fell short in more than one way! I guess I had higher expectations. Too bad as it's a handsome historic property that could really be a bigger hit than it is. The accommodations are important as it's one of the reasons why I usually chose an Inn or B&B ~ for the details and coziness. I would recommend the spa facilities and I would book a massage or mineral bath while here; specifically the mineral baths. On this occasion we planned a trip for my wife's birthday May 7th . We booked the reservation on the Bellwether website directly on April 4th at 11:48AM (est.) and added directly from the Bellwether House website the Gourmet Cake and Private Dinner Chef Curated Experience adding the drink paring experience (note screenshots as website has since been modified). Soon after booking we received a text (646-397-9720) asking for additional information around the type of cake you would like and reason for the visit. This information was submitted via google docs the same day requested, informing guest services that this was a special trip, and we were celebrating my wife's birthday during our stay. The day of our arrival on May 7th at 1:25PM (est.) we received a text from the Bellwether guest services (646-397-9720) indicating there was Corporate Restructuring and the cake order was not able to be fulfilled. In that same text tread, we were asked if we still wanted to continue with the Private Dinner experience, in our response we asked for Guest Services to please call us and clarify what happened and what options were available as this was planned back in April and this was not a way to communicate this type of news via text. This communication transpired as we are in the car on our way to the hotel ~1 hour away. Upon arrival we checked in and proceeded to Room 15 / Garden View. We were exhausted from our 5-hour commute, so we decided to try and take a power nap before venturing out. Immediately once we were settled, we clearly heard footsteps upon footsteps from above. The only way to accurately describe noise as the Georgia State Marching band was above us performing. This was not just for moments but continued and was near impossible to tune out to take a quick nap. I proceeded to the front desk expressing concern for the noise and if we could change rooms, due to the ongoing noise. I was advised that all rooms were booked and there was nothing they could do and will try and keep the noise to a minimum. Unfortunately, the location on the room being directly under the front desk, kitchen, dining area, anytime there was movement the sound circulated throughout the entire room overhead. We also expressed concern that the A/C was leaking due to the humidity creating significant water accumulation on the floor behind the claw tub (actual video included showing the extent of the issue). There was evidence to dissipate the moisture accumulation with Rid and Baking soda hidden behind the dresser and tub however none were effective. Our concern was the floor is all brick and with the water accumulation this has been an ongoing issue creating the perfect environment for mold. Our understanding noted on the website screenshot this was to be Special Blend of Indian Flavors which none were present. It was apparent that they were not prepared and had not expected us to continue to with dinner since the cake was not available. Again, that was addressed once we brought our concern to management, would have not been offered if we would have not spoken up. Including pictures as no one in their right mind would pay $130 for chicken & tomatoes. I also want to highlight the incredible moments during our stay. One was the breakfast was fantastic the bold flavor and presentation was the highlight of our stay. Also, mentioning that Alison was professional during each interaction and very descriptive with her knowledge about coffee and food selections making everything come to life in her ability to describe each dish eloquently. The Chef Zoe who prepared our Private Dinner tried his best with what food was available and was polite as the food was presented. I say all this keeping in mind we started in the Service Industry and Managed franchises; being honest and transparent when things did not go as planned; initiative-taking to try and make the experience right and address the clear issues. I humbly ask that you take out of commission Room 15 as that is a true health hazard and correct your website if you no longer offer the services listed not trying to put something together and hope it sticks on the wall. We love Savannah and the history but if the establishment has corrective actions that need addressing at least take time to listen and investigate before it unnecessary escalates and becomes a health or legal issue. No one should expect to experience the disappoint we did we had during our stay at the Bellwether House, Savannah, GA. I have asked Georgia Department of Public Health Tourist Accommodations to review and witness firsthand Room 15 and determine their best course of action. read more

We've stayed here numerous times in the past 2-3 years and had wonderful experiences. Not so much this time. The room was nice but there was a smell that I was told was Fabuloso (a cheap toxic cleaner) from the hallway. Turns out is was a pesticide of some sort. There was also an external air conditioning unit near the window and vented outside that was really loud but we couldn't turn it down, otherwise it was too hot. We should have asked for a different room. I am very sensitive to chemicals and should have known better. I was sick for two days from the whatever they used in the room. The balcony off our room was dirty and the furniture covered up so we couldn't use it. Unfortunately, they have lost us. We won't be returning. read more

What I thought I was getting and what I got were two different experiences. I will accept my portion of the blame because I should have researched more, but from the little I did read and the pictures I looked at, I thought I was going to a high end, full service hotel. What I ended up in was a high end, fancy, hostel type hotel. At $400 a night, I expected a lot more. First the good. The bed was amazing! So comfortable and the way they have the soft sheets, pillows and comforter was great. They really got the bed right. The street where this hotel is located was SUPER cute (see photo). Staff, the very little interaction I had with them, were nice and professional, but in a "camp counselor" type, not a Ritz Carlton type staff. If that makes any sense. Now, the not so good. The pictures I saw and what the reality was just was different. I can't explain it, but you feel your going to be staying at a luxury, cool, hotel and when you show up, it's an old (Historic), cold, ok maintained, house. So cold in fact, I had to request my room be warmed up because it was 30 degrees outside and they had my room at 67. Even when I asked this to be done, it was not done for several hours. So right there the service was not what I would expect at a high end hotel. The room itself was ok. Wood floors, creaky windows and doors. Cold. Did I say cold! Anyway, the bathroom was cool, but again, run down. The shower had a film of soap scum in it that made me feel like I was at an old bathhouse. The toilet was right up against a window that had a walkway right outside. I was sitting on the toilet as people were walking by and I could see their shadows in the very skimpy blind over the window. The only grooming products they supplied was Shampoo, Conditioner and Body Wash that I located outside the shower on a shelf. I had to move it all into the shower. My last gripe was the TV. The TV is set up for you to use your own sign in for streaming services to activate HULU or NETFLIX. Not gonna happen! In this day and age, identity theft is a real thing. Many of you might be saying, this pompous ass. He is spoiled. I am just saying, that my expectations for a hotel room at $400 a night is that the room is top notch and service is great. Oh, I almost forgot. You get to park a block and half away in some sketchy looking dirt lot. Then walk back to the hotel. Anyway, full disclosure, I did not eat any food at the hotel nor did I use any amenities. When I got the initial tour, the bar looked cool and the food service sounded amazing. So, just be sure this is the experience you want before booking. If it is, it will be a great experience, but, if you are expecting the Ritz Carlton, you will be dissatisfied. read more

Friendly welcoming staff and very walkable location. I'd like to take a moment for the complimentary breakfast. I was expecting a typical eggs, bacon, toast type of situation. To say I'm blown away is truly an understatement. My husband and I are big eaters so we tried the shrimp and grits, tomato egg Bhurji, coconut & chia porridge, bacon and sausage. Everything was easily an 11/10. Better than any brunch we could have found locally. Compliments to the chef!! That was just about the best breakfast I've ever had. The food was so flavorful without being overly salty or greasy. Thank you thank you thank you! I would recommend this place to anyone visiting Savannah. I flew in from CA., since I'm a big fan of bed and breakfast establishments. However, this was not what I expected. For starters, you carry your own luggage up a steep staircase. The home is tri level. You either sleep in the cold basement with no windows, the main floor, or on the very top floor. Second, the staff controls your room temperature, not you. You're "allowed" to have it between 68-71 degrees. It was winter when I visited and very cold in the room. I asked for over an hour to turn my heat up, but it never happened, despite them telling me it would. Third, the alleyway in which you park your cars is dangerous at night. Transients are roaming these dark alleys. While coming back from dinner, someone was threatening me and saying they were going to cause harm. They seemed intoxicated. This outburst from them was unprovoked. I informed the staff at the B&B but they seemed unphased. I advised them perhaps they may want to lock the door as this could be a safety issue. Fourth, the breakfast in the morning was lukewarm/cold. How does a freshly made breakfast come out at room temperature? It was underwhelming. Fifth, the photos on Yelp show facial wash, however they had none to offer and suggested I buy my own. The hair blower takes forever to blow dry hair, it's not even a brand name. I can go on and on.., Sixth, the massage room is downstairs in the cold basement with no windows. When guest spend upwards of $400+/night, their expectation is stellar customer service and a superb stay. There's no way this is a 5 star establishment. Stumbled across the Bellwether house after scrolling Instagram and bloggers and let me tell you...it did not disappoint!! My husband and I were looking for an escape from our day to day. Looking to be served and ability to indulge in a slower pace. From the moment we walked in, Loren greeted us, offered to help with our bags and took us up to suite 1. It was absolutely perfect complete with everything to keep us comfortable for a few days. Shortly after being there we had a knock on the door delivering us warm cookies...Um, yes. Quite the delight after a long travel day. We headed downstairs and grabbed cocktails at the bar and enjoyed lovely conversations with the team on site. The team working in the house is so engaging, hospitable, friendly, thoughtful and a delight to be around. Literally. From the Chef to the CLeaning ladies. First class folks. Nothing stuffy just genuine good people. The team even arranged Ubers for us to get to dinner and was thoughtful in giving advice on what to do for the coming days. One of the absolute best parts was the food. The Chef has a unique menu which did not disappoint. My husband and can be easily disappointed won't food because we have great food options at home, but the food was amazing. Each day we got the pancakes and couldn't wait for the next day to try again. We also enjoyed the sabering at 6 pm and got enjoy the other guests. My husband and I stayed here for almost a week and couldn't be happier. It's at a great location. It's on an absolutely beautiful and very quiet street, yet a nearby walk to Forsyth Park and many other attractions. PERFECT location! The house itself was great...historic with a contemporary touch. We stayed in room 9 on the upper floor and had a cute little outdoor patio to enjoy. We were pleased that the bed was really comfortable! Breakfast and coffee selections were delicious and quite unique. The staff was really accommodating and truly enhanced our stay. Every single person was kind and great at their jobs. Allison and Peter were especially amazing! They really go out of their way to make the stay a memorable one for you. We really appreciated the special attention and details. We had such an awesome visit. Allison has been the best concierge we have had on our many vacations. She is very sweet, knowledgeable about the house and such a great spirit. She is always willing to mix her special drink (should be a house drink), play a game of scrabble or just chat. We enjoyed many laughs with Sid and his kind hearted soul. His wit is awesome. I'm currently staying at the Bellwether House we have only been here for 3 hours BTW, unfortunately my first impressions have been less than ideal. When I walked in the door not a single person offered to help my husband and I with our bags. Paying $400+ a night (taxes and such included) and you don't have a single person offering to help us with our bags !? Secondly across from our room on the terrace, whoever was renting the room has not had their doors closed all evening so I've felt like I can't go out to the courtyard unless I want little to no privacy or ease dropping. Thirdly the shower pictures online shows our extra large shower to have handles in it and our shower has none. Fourthly, our room has 2 small body towels and 2 wash rag sized towels, no hair towels, no extra towels, at $400 a night I should not have to go out of my way to ask for more towels there should be a least more than the bare minimum of towels in the room. Fifth, the shower door does not close all the way, it keeps getting stuck and things keep sliding off the shelf in the shower because it wasn't tiled evenly to be a level shelf to actually hold things on it, I should have realized why all the products were on the floor when I walked into the shower I guess. Very disappointed in this stay quality so far and we are only 3 hrs in. I have posted messages showing the lies that the owner is stating occurred. I had texts and phone conversations with Victoria (the manager) during my stay. It further shows the low class the owner has to not only offer NO compensation, but go one step further to spread lies about me failing to contact the staff. This wonderful little gem in the historic district is a couple of blocks from St. John's Basilica. I have included photos, which speak for the hospitality, thoughtfulness, and creative spirit you will find in this bed and breakfast. We stayed at the Perry Lane for two nights, which we loved, and then went to visit family for Christmas. On our way back to California, we discovered this gem through booking.com. My husband and I got away to the Bellwether House following our wedding. We chose Bellwether based on the great reviews, the unique amenities, and the modern touches that made this location stand out from the others in Savannah. Our experience blew us away! The best part of our stay was the incredible staff. We were lucky to experience Matt's assistance, as he helped us with our bags, and served us afternoon tea, breakfast and delicious, unique drinks that he made. Matt's friendliness and hospitality made us feel right at home. We were also able to chat with the extremely talented executive chef, who was welcoming and kind. From booking, right through out stay, the staff at Bellwether was really what made this experience stand out. The service was exceptional. As if the service is not reason enough to stay at Bellwether, the other elements of our stay were spot on, perfect! A luxurious shower, high tech room amenities, WARM COOKIES brought to our room in the evening, complimentary champagne, amazing tea and coffee beverages....we could go on and on about this place. The afternoon tea service was incredible, with fresh baked goods, and the Indian-inspired breakfast was to die for!!! My wife and I thought this B&B was pure perfection. The historic property is restored wonderfully. The whole house, dining, our room, etc., was exceptionally clean. Every detail is attended too. We loved the extra touches, turn down service, air purifiers, a refrigerated bottle of water, etc. We really enjoyed the included services of High Tea and the Champagne sabering. The food service is unique in that it includes hot lunch as well, and is served up to noon. We really enjoyed our breakfast. They found a way to elevate a simple two egg plate. The staff, especially the ladies who manage the property during the day, were all exceptional. The location of this property is perfect too. It's only a block away from Forsyth Park, and a manageable walk to the riverfront. We truly felt we received the value for what we paid, and would highly recommend The Bellwether. read more

One of my dreams is to stay overnight in a historical home. This place fullfilled it and more. The room was clean,roomy and thoughtful. They anticipated everything needed. We were greeted with an afternoon high tea after we checked in. They have one of the best scones I've ever tasted. At 6pm, they offered complimentary welcome champaign in the garden. We had our nightcap in the garden next to the fireplace. I love the feeling of the hotel, it's so complementary to the vibe of Savannah. Stayed at the Bellwether House last weekend and cannot recommend it enough - it was everything I didn't know I wanted and needed from a bed and breakfast! It was truly an experience in and of itself and loved the morning breakfast, afternoon high tea, and evening champagne. It was the perfect place to spend time in when we needed an afternoon break or some downtime. We loved sitting on the porch and watching the summer storm roll in. Everything was so thoughtfully done and curated, and the staff was so kind and went above and beyond. Additionally, the location is perfect. 10/10 experience! This was our first experience staying at bed and breakfast and I think the bar got set really high. We booked suite 3 and it had these great high ceilings and fantastic a claw foot tub. The shower in the bathroom is very spacious and great water pressure. The bed was extremely comfy and I slept like a baby. The complimentary water in the mini fridge was nice, as was having a fridge in the room to store things. The tv is a good size tv for the room and we had no problem logging in to our streaming services. The breakfast every morning was delicious. They have very unique dishes, I had the shrimp and grits our first day and the syrniki the rest of our stay. They are nice and thick pancakes that have great flavor. My wife got the 2 egg every morning and loved it. Also they set out croissants every morning that made in house by the baker, and these are so damn good. The espresso drinks were always on point as well. We also took advantage of the tea service 2 days of our stay and agin the baker just knocks it out of the park. It changes daily but if the have the matcha tea cakes you are in luck. My wife really enjoyed the bellwether blend tea and I was able to get a nice coffee. The other fun experience is the nightly bottle of bubbly they saber open. It's fun to watch and a nice little drink before heading off to dinner. My wife is pregnant and the employee brought out a bottle of sprite so that she could partake, it's little things like that make a difference. I can't recommend this place enough. read more

This is a really hard review to write. There were so many wonderful aspects of the Inn. The whole property is absolutely stunning - brand new, top of the line linens, plates, the spa services and soaking tub, the hotel bar. - it is easy to see that no expense was spared in dressing this grand lady for the modern era. The evening Inn keeper Lauren is exactly what the inn so desperately needs. Lauren is the true star of the show - she clearly understands the hospitality business and delivered every time we interacted with her - she literally made our stay. With that being said. It would appear there is not enough staff to deliver the standard of service the appearance of the inn promises. Everything was slow and at some point disorganized. One or two people, regardless of how good, can not take proper care of large group of guests. They are new and the growing pains are still obvious in the eyes of any experienced luxury traveler. The management in part reminds me of children being left at home and attempting to make the best of it. The food offerings were again not poor, but I wondering when the last time anyone tasted their food. When any amenity is offered - complementary or for free - it must of of the best quality or don't offer it at all. The concept of the Inn is wonderful, but after almost 9 months one would expect more of the bumps to be ironed out. The full compliment of the inn has yet to be realized, but as a whole has the potential to become a permanent fixture in Savannah society. read more
