Overall, a very nice, hospitable place to stay with lots of character in a terrific location. I'm likely to explore other river front hotels on the next visit, but I definitely would enjoy staying here again. Pro's Location!!! Riverfront view Staff are very professional and cordial. Housekeeping made sure we had abundant supplies--coffee and bathroom amenities. Free champagne at check-in Manager's reception daily--very generous spread, efficient bartender and a terrific covered patio with a view to sit on in rocking chairs Three restaurants connected Water pressure is decent Even though the county issued a boil water notice, we were never inconvenienced, because the staff were very gracious and got us loads of bottled water. Historic feel Comfortable beds Beautiful antique furniture Solid air conditioning Reasonably fast elevators Excellent blackout blinds Cons Mildew in shower (see photos) Some upkeep needed (it is a very old hotel) Gonna definitely hear noisy neighbors inside and outside First set of bath towels were relatively tiny and thin (second set was ok) Check-in, checkout is very manual, but staff handled it efficiently even at the 11:00 checkout time. Patios/balconies are quite small

Rustic, vintage, historic.. this hotels has all the feels. I've never stayed in a place like this but why not right. The receptionists were very informative and helpful getting our room information and the time are cute, dim lighting to match the historic vibes. Although alit of modifications and renovations were done, I love that they kept as much of the building in tact as possible. The foundation was unleveled, you can literally hear everything, creak in the wood when ppl walk lol. Only problem we had, which it seemed a lot of ppl had was the door going from the hotel to the river st access would not work so we had to walk through the restaurant upstairs to get in and we had to get a new set of keys 3 times. The elevator was also extremely slow. Other than that, I loved the bathrooms, the modifications, the historic design of the rooms. It allowed us to have a good live experience of river st.

This place is beautiful and the staff are so kind and helpful. Just walk around and take in how beautiful this whole place is. The architecture, trees, just such a beautiful place. It's very close to everything so many shops and restaurants. Bring some comfy shoes cause you will want to walk and see it all.

Ambience vintage, with a touch of upscale. The rooms are antique, but the upgrades are really nice. A large bathroom is always a plus for me. The floor plan is nice with dim lights to accommodate the vintage look. Staff were nice. The price is " pricey" but the stay was well worth it since it was right on River Street. Walking distance to everything on River street.

Historic district with pretty view (upgraded to River view). Negatives: Barge came through (horn blowing) at 1 am and 7 am). Room was small. Reception less than helpful with attitude at check in. Poor signage and the confirmation email said entrance was at the "teal" canopy. It was black and parking is $39 night (or garage down street is $15 or take you chances with street parking) The elevator did not work with our key even after desk rekeyed it's, so we had to walk to up stairs. Morning staff was elusive, called out several times, I could hear the person in the back room, no response and then a back door opened and closed. Good: the only reason I gave them 3 stars (instead of 2) is the convenience to river street and the views. Beds were soft and clean and restaurants and street vendors are very close for morning walk and shopping. I will not stay here again, but the beignets at Hueys (first floor of the hotel) are worth a stop. For the price I would prefer the Hyatt next door.

I was looking for a historic hotel with charm for my Savannah GA trip in July. The River Street Inn was a cotton mill sitting right on the waterway. The brick facade and gas lamps made it very welcoming and beautiful at night. Check in was easy, staff were very knowledgeable about the area and the restaurants inside the hotel. Inside the hotel was gorgeous. They offer complementary drink and hors d'oeuvres at their manager reception, which was lovely when you first come in and are tired from a trip. they also offer refreshments inside the lobby with a candy bar all and popcorn. They also give you a voucher for one of the boutiques in the hotel as well as breakfast the next morning. The breakfast wasn't skimpy either, it was located in one of the restaurants in the hotel, and it was absolutely delicious. The portions were plentiful and the grits were out of this world. The hotel room itself was gorgeous. I have included pictures. Our day was absolutely wonderful. Our room looked over the water and even at night with people walking up and down the waterfront, it didn't get very loud, and it was really fun to see the big ships go by. Overall a wonderful day. They also gave me free champagne, treats, and balloons for my birthday stay !

The positives are it's very conveniently located to major points of interest. We found a lot within walking distance. The view from the room of the river is beautiful. The front desk staff were friendly. There's also lots of shopping down River St. in the back of the hotel. The down sides were, this is advertised as a "luxury" hotel. The amount of dust around our room, as well as rust and dirt in the bathroom are not found in luxury hotels. They advertised robes and slippers in the rooms. 4 days later no robes or slippers were ever seen. Ours was a double room, yet towels left were always for one. Every day I had to go to the front desk to request extra towels. Upon arrival, the armoire had 1 hanger. My clothes had to be draped over the back of a chair to prevent wrinkles. Housekeeping is non existent. When you return from your day, you will find your bed unmade, nothing wiped down or straightened up. Nothing will be vacuumed. No water or toiletries will be replenished. If you leave the hotel from the ground floor in the back of the inn, to get to the street, you'll be walking by the two portable toilets meant for the downstairs restaurant. Unfortunately, they seem to be leaking out onto the sidewalk. Thankfully we weren't staying during the hot summer months. If you suffer from any type of allergies, you may want to request the room gets a thorough cleaning and dusting upon arrival. Young children should be kept away from exposed outlets. Also - if you've booked your room through any travel site (hotels.com) be sure to verify your rates upon checking in. The rate I booked under and the rate I was charged upon checkout were not the same. I have to now contact the manager who was not in during checkout to inquire why the inn was charging a higher rate. For the cost of this Inn, you may want to shop around a bit more to find better accommodations for your money.

We stayed for one night at this hotel and the location was very strategic in downtown Savannah. The hotel lobby was not fancy but the hotel was clean and it looked like they did some upgrades on their hotel. The hotel was a walking distance to all the shops and nice restaurants and I recommend the olde pink house for dinner and call ahead to make reservation. Our bedroom where we stayed has the river view and the room was more on the narrow side and small but since we only stay for a night we really didn't mind with the room size. The bed was soft but too soft for my husband's back, bathroom was clean, the coffee was good too. We really enjoyed their happy hour. The bartender/ server was very helpful and friendly. The food/ spread were really good and the drinks selection were plenty. We tried to get in the hotel from the river side but the key did not work but luckily one of the kitchen worker was walking out and was able to hold the door for us to get in. The valet parking for the hotel was $40/night so we decided to park at the parking garage across the street and it cost $12 per night. They have coffee shop next door and if you show them your room key you will get 10% off but be prepared the service was not fast like Starbucks. Overall, it was a good stay.

Stayed here for a weekend getaway before the holidays. There is a lot to love. The architecture of the building, the rooms, the furniture, was all as expected for a couples romantic getaway. The downside however for our visit was the construction happening outside of our room, with no warning from staff. We had to keep our shades closed the entire time and the noise in the morning was excessive. More so because of how close it was to the windows. It made us wonder why they asked if we wanted to buy an "upgrade" at check-in. Another tip: valet was $45/day. Street parking maxes out at $20 and there is a garage across the street you can pay $5-10. I'd stay again and hopefully be able to write a better experience, sans construction.

Perfect location by the river. The hotel is central to everything on the walk. I stayed with my family and it was fine, but I could see this as a great place for a romantic getaway. Be sure to take advantage of the cocktail hour. Checkout the wraparound porch and grab a rocking chair to relax in while you sip on a drink. Don't forget where your room is located since the elevators only go to certain floors, which can be quite entertaining after spending some time at Wet Willie's.

River Street Inn was awesome! Not only does it have a prime location on Bay and River streets, it has 3 restaurants and a cafe inside or outside. We did 3 of the 4 and the food was great, plus a 10% discount! The decor, much of which is original to it being a cotton exchange is really cool. Easy access out the back door to River Street. Very nice and helpful staff. Spacious room (our was a double) with two double beds and one very comfortable chair. Cool antique furniture in the rooms and thru out. My only complaint is it had the tiniest mini fridge made. Wondering if they could put in a 3 foot tall one? Had a great time taking lots of pictures, so much to see. Also daily from 5 to 7 they had a tip bar and free food. The food was really good and changed daily, except the chicken skewers.

Let's talk…read moreabout a beautiful historic intimate location in the heart of downtown Savannah with the charm and sophisticated architecture that an elegant event would bring. The Room at Common is top notch and believe me there is absolutely nothing common here. Let's give a moment of respect to the Executive Head Chef Shawn and his entire accompanying staff whose impeccable attention to detail in every dish that exited his kitchen demonstrated the depth and ability of everyone who had a hand in slicing, cutting, baking, and curating the most delectable dishes I have found in quite a while. You need an outlandish charcuterie board to get you in the mood to begin the eating festival. The sliders had the perfect texture and the bread was tenderly placed with a delicate sauce. The tomato basil soup in a bread bowl was like heaven. The fried green tomatoes were also a favorite. The short ribs with the smothered collard greens and the cornbread were on an another planet of goodness. You want fresh local oysters on the half shelf pulled from the water only hours ago, well they got you right in house with them lying on ice and a professional shucker right there to serve you with a beautiful smile. Did I mention the dessert bar? Freshly baked cookies, macaroons, mini red velvet cake shooters, lemon puff pastries, mini cheesecakes, and other treats that would leave the sweetest sweet tooth, toothless. The food was Southern, but wound up a notch. It was not boring. It was not common. If you're in Savannah for a work conference or need a place to meet to discuss business with your team, host a holiday party, or have a small wedding reception, do not skip The Room at Common. One thing I appreciate is how attentive the staff is to each guest. Everyone is so friendly and welcoming. You feel as if you're one of the family coming to visit. The cocktails are delicious. The wine selection is fantastic and carefully crafted with an experienced sommelier in house. I'm telling you that you will kick yourself if you don't have you people call Leah Ralph to book your event. The food and drinks will make your folks love you forever!

We were looking for a small, intimate, and beautiful space to host our micro-wedding celebration, and after reaching out to many places in downtown Savannah, The Room at Common stood out immediately. When we did our site visit, it was exactly what we had envisioned and more. The space is beautifully decorated inside a historic Savannah building and offers thoughtful features like a Frame TV for slides or welcome messages, private restrooms, a private bar, and the ability to play your own music (which is rare for a small venue and comes without extra charges). Leah was wonderful to work with throughout the entire process. She responded to our initial inquiry almost immediately, something that really stood out since many other venues took days or even weeks to reply. From the first email to the site visit and all the communication leading up to the event, she was incredibly helpful and reassuring. As someone who works in hospitality and tends to be a bit of a "controller," it meant a lot to feel confident that everything was in good hands. On the day of our celebration, everything was beyond what we imagined. The space looked beautiful, and we were greeted so warmly. Sammy, our server, was attentive and fun, and the bartender was fantastic as well. And the food... absolutely incredible. Every dish exceeded expectations. Our guests are still talking about it weeks later. The oysters were incredibly fresh, the steak was outstanding, and the fried cornbread, fish dip, and cheesecake were unforgettable. A huge thank you to the Executive Chef (who even came out to greet us) and the entire kitchen team. Every member of the team made us feel cared for and ensured we had everything we needed. They truly embody the meaning of Southern hospitality. Thank you all for making our day so special. My husband and I already say that if we ever renew our vows or host another celebration, we'll absolutely be coming back.

Ambiance is prohibition bar vibes so a little more rustic and casual. I was a bit annoyed by the hostess. We had a reservation for our party of 6 and arrived about 15 minutes early. I asked if we could grab drinks at the bar and she kept coming up with excuses on why we couldn't stand or sit in certain areas. Finally, I just asked her to come up with a solution because we had 15 minutes to kill and they didn't have a waiting area. Funny enough, she decided then to get our table ready. It was just odd. Our server was from Ukraine so she was efficient and fast. Not super friendly or chatty with us which missed the mark on Southern hospitality and made our experience feel cold compared to our previous dinner experiences in town. I don't fault her for it though as she did her job. We ordered an excessive amount of starters and some of the entrees. The stand outs for me was the crispy Brussels sprouts, roasted bone marrow, steamed mussels, and grilled octopus. Skip any of the bread options. They weren't even toasted. For entrees, we also decided to share them. The pork chop and NY strip were stand outs. We ended up sending back the halibut. It tasted mealy and freeze burnt. Skip the crispy Japanese eggplant. I was expecting a grilled dish and it was actually fried with a thick batter. Too heavy for my liking. Overall, we enjoyed our meal but not somewhere I am dying to go back to.
