Cute little bakery! After eating breakfast, I was craving something sweet so I decided to stop in at Bello's. This place is nestled away in a little strip and if you blink, you could miss it. I was blown away at everything they had to offer and wasn't sure where to start. I ended up getting three mini cookies: the thumbprint (pink), parelle (stars), and non-parelle. Each were unique with their own flavor but were just what I needed for a little pick-me-up. The pink cookie had bits of pecan and while I'm not a huge pecan fan in general, I didn't mind it! The other two were more shortbreadish in taste, but still had their own unique flavor. I think they have something for everyone depending on what you're looking for. The workers were incredibly friendly and the pricing was fair, but less than what I was expecting to pay. I get my nails done in the area, so I can already see this place being my go-to for snacks! read more

Bello's Bakery is easily one of my favorite bakeries in West County. They offer a huge variety of baked goods, and everything always looks fresh and inviting. My personal favorites are their donuts and danishes -- both are consistently delicious. This visit, I decided to try one of their cookies. While it wasn't quite as standout as some of their other items, it was still fresh and well made. I also noticed several beautiful cakes being picked up while I was there, so that's definitely next on my list to try. Service is always a 5 star! read more

First timer. The staff was nice and the rolls smelled good. I got a carrot cake cupcake and a cherry cheese danish. One thing that I found odd is the cupcake refrigerator is faced towards the wall and not easily accessible to the customer so it was weird going a bit behind the counter to open the door. Please keep in mind that I write honest reviews and I'm sorry to say that unfortunately the cupcake is the worst cupcake I've ever had. It was stale, and the icing was bitter and left an after taste, I couldn't even finish the rest of it and it was a small cupcake. They would do better to just take those off the menu. The danish was good, it wasn't too sweet but the icing could've had a bit more flavor to it. Otherwise the cherry and cheese filling was good. read more

Fabulous birthday cake that one of my colleagues brought into the office. His birthday, not mine. A white sheet cake with very pretty icing, well decorated and tasty. A little flavor of almond extract in there that brought a lovely flavor. This is my husband's favorite go-to place for donuts due to its well-priced donuts and wide selection! It was slightly busy/crowded in Saturday morning but we were quickly helped by the people behind the counter. We love the raspberry donut, blueberry donut, and old fashioned buttermilk donut (unsure of exact name). Each donut is slightly over $1 or so--super affordable for high quality donuts! They have a stand of "Day-old" pastries like cinnamon rolls with a slight discount, refrigerated/premade celebration cakes, iced cookies, and little cookie decorating kits that I want to try next time and come with plain cookies and icing bags. Dear Bello's baker, Thank you so much for being a great local bakery. I love stopping in. I often purchase some pastries that are reminiscent of the old Scheiniemers bakery. However over the years the ones with the same name have evolved into something not quite as tasty. Most recently the nut roll turned into a 'breakfast nut roll' and lost its delicious white lather of frosting. Now it is a mere drizzle. The nut horn dough changed (not for the bettwith clayton bakery but has slowly reduced both its number of nuts and sugar topping. Do you have the original recipes from Schneimiers? This stretch of Manchester road is spoiled for Bakeries. Within a quarter mile you have Bello's Bakery, The Daily Bread, and Nathaniel Reeds. I stopped in a Bello's one morning when my pregnant wife had a hankering for donuts. The shop has counters with donuts and baked goods and there are some fresh breads on display. I can only speak to the donuts, but we enjoyed everything we got. Also I have to mention that the donuts are just GIGANTIC. One long john here would be equal to about 1.5 anywhere else. The donuts hit the spot and the prices were reasonable. I'd recommend the bakery to anyone in need of a sugar fix in the morning. read more

The former Clayton's Bakery set a standard for delicious baked goods. Now run by one of the Clayton Bakery Bakers. Mr. Beni Bello purchased the business and changed the name to Bello's Bakery. He has been professionally baking for 24 years. Rustic Coffee Cakes, Stoles, Iced Cookies, and Breads are my favorite items at Bello's. The Iced Cookies are a favorite to make children smile from ear to ear. I have also had Birthday Cakes from Bello's that everyone has enjoyed. If you order a Birthday Cake, ask about icing and filling options. It is best to place an order after the morning rush, when you can ask questions. Ordered a specialty Elmo Birthday Cake for my grandson's 2nd birthday and ordered a vanilla, yellow cake with raspberry filling and it was delicious and the Elmo was just outstanding. I have been to Bello's Bakery numerous times through the years and have gotten donuts, pastries and the decorated specialty cookies and they are always great but this was the first time I ordered a decorated cake and I will be back many times in the future and recommend to all. The people are courteous but the pastries taste as if they are two or three days old. Terrible, not only do the pastries taste old but they leave an unwanted lingering taste of aspartame in your mouth! I would not recommend this place. read more

They put their donuts on a tray and then put a thin bag over the tray. The bag pulls all the icing off the donuts. Just use a damn box or a regular bag like every other place on the planet. read more

Bello's was very accommodating and quick to say they could make a cake for my sister's nursing school graduation, and that is why I'm giving them 2 stars, but unfortunately the cake they made was horrible. I sent pictures and they really worked with me to get it into price budget and into a size for the smaller event I needed it for. They were really nice when I ordered the cake. My compliments stop there. When I went to get the cake, on graduation day, they opened it, and it looked NOTHING like the photo I had sent in. Even if the colors were different (they don't do metallic so I said to do a DARK pink), the design was hideous. But the pink also wasn't "dark," it was FUSCHIA - one of the brightest pinks you can get. They claimed they couldn't make a darker pink without making it purple. I had envisioned a dark rose color. Even excusing the color confusion, the fondant never set. It cracked on my way home (while on the bed of my SUV trunk), and was gooey when we tried to eat it. Overall, the cake looked extremely cheap and tacky, and it tasted awful because of the messed up fondant. I bought fresh roses to go on the cake but even covering it with them couldn't salvage it. I was very disappointed. It was so bad, I ran and to another bakery & got a premade cake out of the cooler and used it instead. Note: The store was packed when I arrived, so they weren't hurting for business, it was simply poor baking, design, & execution. I won't be back. read more

Terrible customer service! I ordered specific cookies for my daughter's team to have at their team dinner before their big game & they were completely wrong. I filled out an online order form & then spoke to someone on the phone 3 times to clarify and pre-pay for the order. When I went to pick up the cookies, they were completely wrong. I did not want to take them, but the employees agreed that the cookies were incorrect & did not match the order form. I was assured I would be given a refund the following day & it was too late to find an alternative desert for the team dinner that started in an hour. When I followed up on the refund a few days later, the manager was so rude & acted like I had somehow approved this change to my order, which made no sense. I have been a customer here for decades, but it really upset me that these cookies were wrong after 3 conversations over the phone. And then to be gaslit by the manager was appalling, frankly. I know these are just cookies, it's not the end of the world, but the way the current ownership treats their customers is shameful. read more

This is a great bakery that takes pride in the products they make. Such a wide variety of handmade cookies, coffee cakes, cakes and more! The owner has many years of baking experience and takes pride in the work he does. Each time I come out to visit St Louis from the east coast, I usually go home with a carload of coffee cakes, cookies and other goodies...the most recent time it was 40 (of my favorite) caramel crunch coffee cakes! This bakery was formerly Clayton's Bakery and before that it was Schmemeier Bakery. I stopped in on Friday and was surprised it's now called Bello's Bakery. It was late in the day and they were sold out of quite a bit but it appeared things were still the same. Thankfully! They have the very best iced cookies in St. Louis which is what I was there for. We stumbled upon Bello's while looking for fresh Rye bread. He had a fresh loaf straight out of the oven and it did not disappoint. This was the best rye bread I've ever had. Since then we've made this our local bakery. Bello (I think that's his name) himself is always so friendly, making us feel at home every time we are in the shop.
