This quiet pizzeria was a pleasant surprise on our mini road trip from NYC to a pumpkin patch in the area! Despite it being a slow weekday, and empty when we arrived, we saw a steady stream of customers come in for both dine in and takeout while we were here! I thought that the whole salad/pasta on pizza was strictly found in NYC, but there was a huge selection here with hot pizzas coming out nonstop. As I've seen on some other reviews here, I was also surprised that the place with the massive slices was gone. We couldn't miss out on an opportunity to have New Yo-uh-k Pizza while visiting for Thanksgiving and I was hoping to impress the GF with one of Portofino's massive slices on our drive home. Fortunately, this place is still a pizza place and is still in NY so it fit the requirements. We arrived about 40 min before closing and much to my disappointment, had very little in terms of stock left. We were able to order the vegetarian scraps that remained which included a slice of standard, good ol' cheese and penne vodka. Because we're fat fucks, we added two orders of garlic knots. Within a few minutes, everything was heated and ready to go. We brought the box of the contents into the car and took a few bites before setting out onto the road. Everything was ORGASMIC. The crust was thin, the sauce flavorful, and the cheese was steamy and hot. The penne vodka slice was literally better than sex. The garlic knots were soft and cushiony with a delectable garlic flavor. The sauce was some of the best sauce I've had in a hot minute. Sigh. Back to what Massachusetts tries to pass off as "pizza". read more

We have not tried the pizza as yet but have tried a other dishes. Very few places have Angel Hair pasta - hubbys fave, so we usually get Angel Hair & Sausage for him and Meatballs & Penne for me. Love the sauce and everything is SO GOOD with generous portions to have for for 2 nights plus some leftover to freeze. We get it delivered with care for a small fee. Bello Pizza used to be in the former Portofino Pizzeria location at the Goldens Bridge shopping mall. I ordered a slice of the Margherita as well as the Spinach and Ricotta. The slices came out piping hot so it was still warm when I got home. I'm glad the slices were not ginormous like Portofino's slices. Had quite the shock when I showed up and Portofino's was no longer. That being said. Bello is an enjoyable meal and offers unique pizza topping combinations. I tried the Penne Vodka pizza and it was delicious, crispy, and not oily. The chicken parm was also good. My parents insist on ordering linguine with white clam sauce even though it was pretty clear that's not what they're known for, which was tasty but uses canned clams. I don't want to disparage a small business, but wanted to leave this review in hopes they can make improvements. The staff seemed friendly and hard working. The issue here was the food, mainly the pizza. In my humble opinion, the texture of cooked pizza dough is supposed to be a mixture between crunchy (cracker-like crunch) and chew (moist on the inside). There should also be an airy, light feel to the pizza. The cooked pizza was more like a breadstick. It was stale and dry. It lacked air. The dough here is seemingly not prepared correctly. Whether that's the ingredients, how they are mixed or the process of kneading the dough. Separately, the display counter was a bit off putting. The pizza seemed old. There were no visibly fresh pizzas. Before ordering I already thought I had made a mistake. Finally, any time you see a place that offers pizza and hamburgers (or any other non-pizza related item i.e. tacos) it is a red flag. There's no way a pizza place makes a good burger or that a burger place makes a good pizza. I'd recommend sticking to one thing and doing it really well. If I wanted a burger, I wouldn't go to a pizza place to get one. read more

Just finished a plain cheese slice. About the best I've ever had. Flavors of the yeast dough are incredible; very delicate hints of sweetness, yeast, salt and flour. Proper tender and fluffy characteristics of an excellent twice risen yeast dough. The tomato sauce has just the right acidity and slight sweetness to make it one of the best I've ever had. Consistency is homogenous, not watery or lumpy. Cheese is I would guess is whole milk Mozzarella, texture is smooth and buttery soft; so many places today the cheese is all wrong, oily, too salty, tough texture, poor or no flavor, completely unrewarding, like eating a cheese lookalike product. The dinners I've had here are also top quality ingredients, and are excellently prepared, always delicious. High cost and quality ingredients make this a great place to eat. I have visited this establishment well over a dozen times now, and I have never been disappointed. The service is very friendly, and every single slice I have had has been amazing. The best slice has to be the vodka slice, especially with fresh basil on top. They have great chicken Marsala and margherita slices as well. The only thing that was not as good was the regular cheese slice, but the specialty slices are so good there is no need to even order a plain cheese. read more
