Let me start by saying, I understand the fact that there is a lot of stress on the vet industry currently caused by Covid. The vet industry works have had an influx of patients and this has put strain on the works. That being said, I brought my cat in today for a checkup/FVRCP vaccine and it was my first time visiting again since 2017 (I had switched vets as my fiancé works as a vet assistant at further away clinic). The cons of my experience were that they took my cat and told me it would be 30-1hr minute wait. I accepted this and I have no problem waiting. I arrived back 1 hour later and waited outside the door (Covid restrictions, which I accept) and I was informed they had just given her the FVRCP vaccine and they were now just getting to her exam. I have never once heard of a clinic giving a vaccine before checking an animal via an exam to ensure they were in good health before administering a vaccine. What if she wasn't healthy, they didn't check her heart and she has a heart mummer and she were to die? Besides the 2 hours wait (as I saw other clients come after I had arrived) and them administering a vaccine without an exam first, the visit went well, the price was fair as they only charged me for the vaccine and reduced the cost of the exam, she had no adverse reactions, and it seems she was treated well. Just a slightly frustrating experience, and again I understand the strain the vet industry is feeling and appreciate their work, just wanted to share. read more

My first visit, one week ago exactly, was to get a vaccination for my kitty who will need boarding in a month. Arrived 10 mins early for my appointment time and was put an exam room. 35 minutes later I poked my head out to reception to ask if someone would be in to do the Vx. Someone opened the door on the clinic side and said, "it will be 5 or 10 minutes longer." I waited 20 more minutes before someone came back with a syringe. The exact same thing happened to me TODAY, one week LATER.. for a well check exam and dental look over. I waited 25 minutes... poked my head out and said, "hello, I made an appointment (?)".. reception said, "oh, the vets are BOTH tied up in a procedure, we don't know how long they'll be" ... another 15 minutes I waited, then I packed up my cat and told everyone as I was LEAVING, i WOULDN'T BE BACK. read more

Dr Sullivan saved my dogs life. My dog Coal was misdiagnosed over and over again in Canada and at last resort we crossed the border after hearing about Dr Sullivan. We had been dealing with Coals heath issues for 3 months in Canada. Within 4 hours of arriving at BVH dr sullivan had diagnosed Coal with a massive abscess inside his head. 24 hrs later he performed life saving surgery, relieving the pressure from Coals (nearly broken) skull and successfully cleaning the bacteria and foreign material from his head. We are forever grateful to the entire team at BVH who treated us with nothing but kindness and professionalism. Highly recommend this phenomenal team of people who truly care about animals. read more

Been taking our pets here for years, but the service has declined to the point that we will now go to a new vet. Waited almost an hour for rabies shots and didn't examine the dog. No explanation for the wait was provided, and the receptionist seemed unconcerned when questioned about the wait. Her response is that Ed is the only vet in town taking new patients. Huh? That's not even true. But I guess they feel that because it is difficult to get into another vet in Bellingham, they don't have to be professional or provide any level of customer service. I am disappointed because we really used to appreciate the great service we've received over the years with our dogs. But it's not the same place it used to be. Our experience with Bellingham Vet was consistently terrible. The veterinary service itself was mostly absent, their communication was abysmal, and the prices they charged were outrageous. The only good thing I can say about this clinic is that they were able to schedule us sooner than any other local vet clinic could. We had adopted two kittens and needed an appointment for their second round of shots on about two weeks notice, and Bellingham Vet was the only place we could get an appointment. Services In a total of three visits to the clinic, we never talked to an actual veterinarian. The best we got was a brief description from a receptionist of what was done. We were never actually given any reason to believe that the vet even saw our animals. Does this clinic actually have a vet working there? I wish I knew. Most disturbingly, they gave our kitten medication without consulting us first - we had no opportunity to participate in the decision about the medication itself nor the resulting expense. Furthermore, none of the staff made any effort whatsoever to help troubleshoot a health problem our kitten was having. They didn't really make a point of listening to the information we had, they didn't ask questions that might help a vet diagnose the problem, and (as mentioned above) we have no idea whether the vet was ever aware of the issue. Communication The staff are hard to get a hold of; the phone lines are consistently clogged and we had to wait every time we called. When talking to the staff, they were friendly, but clearly harried, overly busy, and disorganized. The pandemic is surely making things more difficult, but it's been six months now. This clearly isn't going away in a week or two, so they need to find a better way to adapt even if it means hiring more staff. In the course of three visits and two diagnostic procedures, they called us back only twice: once to ask for payment and once to tell us our animal was ready to be picked up. We had to call to ask about the status of everything that was done. This level of communication is not just flaky, but seriously flawed to the point where it erodes any trust I had in their ability to care for our animals. Prices Finally, a little internet research suggests that their prices are multiples higher than what's typical. Go ahead and search google for typical prices for an abdominal radiograph (x-ray) for a cat: you'll find it's typically $100-$250. We were charged $389.50. A fecal sample analysis: typically $25-$45. We were charged $150. Thankfully we've been able to get in to see a different vet and won't be subjected to the disturbingly poor (nonexistent?) veterinary care, lack of communication, and outrageous prices from this clinic any longer. read more

A little over 6 years ago my girl, an Australian Cattle Dog named Pepper, was diagnosed with advanced lymphoma. After much research and many phone calls I was told to contact Dr. Sullivan, and I did. Dr. Sullivan put me in touch with the folks at MedVet in Ohio, he had recently trained the staff there in stem cell transplant. Pepper received donor stem cells from her sister, the owners graciously brought their girl to Ohio to have stem cells harvested. During the time Pepper was at Medvet, nearly a month, she had many ups and downs, nothing has ever been easy for her, Dr. Sullivan went over and above in providing support and resources. I can't thank him enough! Pepper is 13 now, she's moving a lot slower these days but she's moving. Thank you Dr. Sullivan! read more

DO NOT TAKE YOUR CATS TO BELLINGHAM VETERINARY. I would give negative stars if I could. We took our cats here over the pandemic and so we weren't able to go into the examine room and see what was happening. When we were finally able to interact with the vet he put my cat on the scale and said "13.5lbs, does that sound good to you?" He patted my cat and said "looks like a healthy cat" without doing any sort of examination. When I tried to bring up some skin issues he had been having the vet told me he had fleas, I told him my cat did not have fleas that I had checked and he just tried to convince me I was wrong without actually helping me or my pet. I asked repeatedly for advise while he examined my cat for fleas and when he couldn't find any, I was told to build them a catio. For our older cat we were told that she could use a teeth cleaning, but it's expensive so we should wait and think about it. After my experience talking to the vet I no longer trusted his opinion so we took her to another clinic for a second opinion. Turns out her mouth was a mess and her random vocalizing was likely due to pain and discomfort. She had to have 9 teeth extracted at Chuckanut Feline Center and is much happier and healthier now. Months later I am still furious. If you have a cat take them somewhere else. read more

I do not recommend Bellingham Vet. There are several reasons that I do not recommend them, but I will only list a couple. The first huge reason is the profound lack of communication between the staff/vet. The lack of communication comes off as lack of care, and realistically negligence. Due to the consistent game of 'telephone' the staff relay incorrect/misinformation from the vet. When my partner and I asked to speak directly to the vet, we were constantly pushed off. We were told certain labs were going to be done for our pup that we later found out were never done, however they were paid for. His urine sample was mislabeled and put under our cat. We were constantly gaslighted by staff, especially a person named Robyn, whenever we asked questions regarding our pups lab work, and the medications that were being prescribed. When we finally were able to talk to Dr. Sullivan we were told that his lab work looked 'fine' only to receive an email from his staff informing us that the labs in question were never done. Leading to a potential misdiagnosis. Whenever we asked questions we were brushed off and treated poorly by the vet and his team. Who would constantly demean us, and make us feel like they were doing more than they actually were. We brought our cat in for a wellness check, which was never done, and/or was incomplete (we don't know because every time we asked about the labs or how our cat looked we were told that the labs they were still being "processed", when we finally asked for records showing the labs that were ordered we were told that the labs were never done, by staff), and now our cat will need over $500 dollars of work, which should've been caught/prevented by Dr. Sullivan. We brought our cat in for an established care appointment with another vet who caught dental issues, and brought to our attention that a standard wellness check looks at teeth, gate, eyes, and overall look of the cat. None of this was done at Bellingham Vet, when we brought this up to Dr. Sullivans team, they informed us that we need to "specifically ask for these things to be checked" when asked what they check for in a wellness check they said "I don't know". After all of these issues were brought to Dr. Sullivans issue, we asked for a refund. Upon asking for this Dr. Sullivan stated that he no longer wanted to communicate with us. This is only listing a couple of issues, the list could go on for the reasons we decided to leave. I truly do not recommend this vet office, and strongly feel that there are other vets in this area who will do more, and care more for your fur babies. We thankfully have found a vet who has shown us what a caring vet will actually do for your pet, and who has also spent more time with us in 1 visit than Dr. Sullivan has in over 7 years. read more

Please, for the sake of your pet's health and your sanity - avoid this clinic at all costs. I tried to be as understanding as possible with the long wait times, poor communication and general disorganized mess. It's clear that the techs and admins who work here are frazzled. However, my most recent visit left me frustrated, shocked, and disgusted. The actions Bellingham Veterinary clinic took while caring for my cat were highly unethical. These actions included: failing to take a medical history at intake, failing to obtain owner consent to perform non-emergency medical treatments, failing to communicate a recommended treatment plan, and failing to maintain accurate medical records. I called the clinic after my cat started showing signs of gastrointestinal distress. They recommended he be brought in for observation and a fecal test. I agreed. 2 days later I dropped my cat off at 9am to be observed for the day and run the stool test. This request was noted in his medical record and confirmed with a tech at drop-off. The tech asked no other questions regarding his medical history or present symptoms. I assumed we would discuss these after his test results. I requested to be called with updates on his condition before we took next steps, the tech assured me they would call. After 4 hours of radio silence, I called the clinic to check in. They told me that they were looking at his x-rays and that he might need surgery. I was very surprised since we did not discuss imaging when I dropped him off. I urgently requested they call me back when they determined if he needed surgical intervention or not. The clinic staff again assured me they would. A few more hours went by and I got a text at 4pm saying that my cat was ready for pickup. When I went inside to resolve the bill, it was revealed that the clinic had performed an unauthorized sedation of my cat, unauthorized xray imaging, unauthorized bloodwork, and unauthorized medical treatments. The total bill was almost $700. Shocked, I told the admin staff member that I did not consent to anything beyond observing my cat and sending out a stool sample. Especially the anesthesia/sedation. If I had been told that was a possibility for my cat, I would have withheld food from him the 12 hrs prior to drop-off. That would have helped mitigate any risk of complications. I asked the staff if my cat's condition was critical or life threatening, they said he was not. Confused, I then asked why they didn't call me to discuss a diagnostic/treatment plan. The staff went back to speak with Dr. Sullivan, and returned saying "Dr. Sullivan assumed you wanted him to treat your cat". I reiterated that I dropped my cat off for observation and was to be called to discuss next steps. The liberties taken with my cat's care were far beyond what was initially agreed upon and obtaining owner consent is reasonable and prudent in all non-emergency situations. I also asked if, after all they had done, they had a diagnosis for my cat's condition. Foreign body? Pelvic injury? Tumor? The tech again disappeared into the back and returned with the x-ray they took of my cat but could not determine a cause or give recommendations for my cat going forward. Frustrated, I requested they print all the medical records for my cat and my 3 other pets. There was nothing in my cat's medical chart regarding the veterinarian's findings from the physical exam, no progress notes, no treatment plan. What was listed on my bill was absent from my cat's chart. One of the techs offered to go get Dr. Sullivan and I agreed. The tech returned a few minutes later saying that Dr. Sullivan declined to meet with me as he was in an "emergency surgery". However, I have been to the clinic several times with my other pets and they've given me a variation of that line each time. To this day, I have never met or spoken directly to a veterinarian at Bellingham Veterinary. To the credit of the tech and admin staff, they did apologize to me. And they waived the majority of my bill. I still had to pay $80 for a veterinary exam that I'm still not sure actually happened since there is no notation of it in my cat's medical record. A vet exam should include at the very least a recording of vital signs and a systems review (head to toe). I also reviewed the medical record for my dog and it shows that one of her vaccines are past due, expiring in 2018. I asked the clinic staff about it and they said it was "probably a record keeping error". Which I agreed to considering my dog was born in 2019 and they administered the vaccine to her in May of 2021. The last and final straw of this whole ordeal was that my cat was returned to me drugged and soaked with urine. But his carrier was dry. He urinated himself while under their care and they just left him to soak in it. My cat deserved far better. And your pets do as well. Avoid Avoid Avoid. read more

We have received amazing regular care from Dr. Sullivan and his team over the last 6 years for our dogs. He has always worked with our family in a very non-judgemental way, presenting us with all of the options. I am to writing this review, as Dr. Sullivan and his staff stepped up in a way we could have never expected this spring that truly attests to their care and attention of animals. We had a devastating situation occur where our dogs were poisoned with rat poison. Our older dog was treated and cared for until he very sadly passed away during a experimental life saving treatment. They continued to care for our other dog for three weeks, working with us financially and emotionally. We are so thankful to say she has survived and is doing well. There is absolutely no way she would be alive without the care and love from Bellingham Vets clinic. Never once was our dog scared to return even after day after day of going in for her treatments. Clearly, she felt the love too. And all this while the clinic is clearly exceptionally busy. Again, with the deepest respect and gratitude - thank you for all you are doing. read more

I had the most wonderful experience with the veterinarian at this vet. Had someone on FB asking for help because her cat was very sick and she just did not have the money to get her fur baby looked at. (Most everyone is struggling during this time). So I wanted to help, I just picked a vet that popped up and boy am I glad I picked this vet. Poor kitty is very sick and needs lots of tests to determine what is wrong with the poor guy. Vet Sullivan said upwards into the $800. He actually said cost is not the issue here the cat is. OMG did I just hear him right. He said he was going to cover the cost but if I wanted to donate something that is not going to put me out financially that would be great to. WOW never have heard of this before. Showed up for an appt and as I entered the building a very rude young lady with glasses says "you can't just walk in". I said I had an appt and she said well your suppose to wait outside. They didn't tell me this procedure on the phone and have a poorly placed sign outside. I did not like the idea of waiting outside with my scared cat with all the noise and so I was going back to my car when one of the staff told another customer it would be likely at least an hour as they had two emergencies. They didn't say this info to me. I went back to my car with the clipboard and paper to fill out of basic info and decided to go back up to the door and see what the situation was. She then tells me the same story and if I want I can leave my cat there in a nice cool room and come back when I am called. You seriously think I am going to leave my cat in a strange environment ALONE in a place I have never been to ? Or I could wait in my car for who knows how long. Cell phones are a thing now and they could of called people who had appts to let them know they had these emergencies arise and give us options. I was not happy with the way they handle customer relations and the first thing that got me off the wrong foot was the rude round glasses young lady who has no customer relation skills apparently. Maybe you need better signs and telling people who make appts the procedure, I know covid has made things harder to handle situations and all and it can be frustrating but bad organization. Not sure I would give them another chance. I really needed to have my cat seen for something that may or may not be serious and I left feeling really angry and treated as if I am just another sheep. I really needed to take my dog in to get treated for ear mites and a seemingly bacterial infection, he's obviously sick and not his normal happy energetic self. I tell them this on the phone. I was pretty happy he could be seen same day. I go drop him off, busy myself for a few hours, pick him up and pay $300 for tests and treatment. They give me pills to give him right off the bat. I get him home, he's still in misery over his ears rubbing his head on the floor and the couch nonstop. I call them again and tell them they did nothing for his ear problems, can we PLEASE get meds? I go back a third time and they charge me another $60 for the ear treatment. They tell me to wait for the test results. All of this was on Thursday the 13th. It is now Tuesday the 18th. I call today (5 days later) to find out what's happening with the tests they ran. The receptionist tells me the test results came back THE DAY AFTER I took him there. I've been waiting several days, when they could have called me right away to either confirm the pills they gave him were right for the treatment, or if he needed something else. I go on to tell her this whole experience has been pretty crazy considering they're taking care of peoples pets and I don't have a lot of trust in their clinic at this point, especially because they ignored my telling them he needs something for his ears. I've never had this happen before, but she laughed at me. I don't know how you're carrying a business with any success like this, but I won't be back. And I'm still waiting for the doctor to call me back with test results. This is entirely ridiculous and useless. Glad I kept the appointment with my regular vet!! read more

I was going back and forth between 1 start or 2 stars. I want to give this business two stars because I actually really like the vet, but I think it is a waste of people's time to go here, so I want to review the establishment appropriately. Where do I start?? I brought my 12 week old puppy here back in June because she got scratched in the eye by a cat and she got a infection. We were going to Maplewood, but almost all my friends go here and have great things to say about Ed Sullivan as a vet, so I wanted to follow my pack and try it out. I was all gung-ho, so I brought all her charts from Maplewood to make the official switch to our new vet. 1) LONG WAITS... For our first visit, we waited 20 minutes in the waiting room and another 45 minutes in the exam room. We made the emergent appointment that morning, so I wasn't too concerned. But, when we made a followup visit four days later to check up on her eye, we waited the same amount of time. 2) INCONVIENCE TO THEM TO SCHEDULE APPOINTMENTS... We received an email reminder from Maplewood that our pup's shots were coming due. It was nice to have the reminder, but I was disapointed that our new vet office didn't remind us either. I called them to make an appointment, and whomever I talked to on the phone made it seem like an inconvience to come in and get the routine shots. I made the appt for 9am and expressed my concern with timeliness of the appointments bc I had a doctor appointment for myself at 10am. She assured me it would be okay. 3) TIMELINESS, AGAIN.... We went into the office for the shots, and I ended up waiting to see the vet for 35 minutes. I barely got out in time to go to my doctor appointment down the street. 4) NO COMMUNICATION ABOUT VACCINATIONS TO BE GIVEN AT APPOINTMENT... When I finally had the chance to look at the vaccination paperwork that I received, I realized that they gave her the rabies vaccination along with the other vaccines that I had requested. She was only 14 weeks old, and I had been told previously that we were not supposed to give the rabies vaccine for at least a couple more weeks (I have later learned that there is varying research on this). I would have liked to talk about what they were going to give my dog so that we could have at least had a conversation about it. I believe that I am a rational informed person, and I would have been open to changing my views, but I just felt as if I was at their whim. 5) NO REMINDERS OR GUIDANCE FOR VACCINATIONS OR FLEA MEDICINE...Maybe it was because I came in for an emergency visit as my first visit, but at no point did I receive any guidance for what I should be doing regarding shots, flea medicine, nail clipping, teeth brushing, etc, even when I asked for advice. For all I know, I have missed vaccinations. I have done research online, but it would have been nice to get confirmation from the vet office that I am up to date. Our pup has been pretty healthy over the last couple months, and we haven't needed to return to the vet. Now she is seven months old and I realized that she needs to get spayed. I didn't receive any reminders, but I was interested in having her be a doggie blood donor for the canine blood bank at his office, so I knew that needed to happen first. 6) MADE ME FEEL STUPID BECAUSE THEIR RECORDS WERE WRONG... I called to make the appointment to get her spayed early in the week. The male voice I talked to continued to talk down to me and tell me I was getting my dog neutered, not spayed. I informed him that my dog was a female. He was very rude and said that the chart said my dog was a male. I informed him that the chart was incorrect. 7) NO RECORD OF HER APPOINTMENT... We finally made the appointmeny for Thursday that week, but unfortunately my partner wasn't able to pick her up later in the day after the procedure, so I called back within an hour to reschedule the appointment. We rescheduled for the following week which is today, Friday 11/18, but when I went to the office to drop her off today, they had NO RECORD of an appointment. To top it off, the vet is not even in the clinic today. I work at the blood bank here in town and I understand the importance of blood donors. I also used to work for Fred Hutchinson Cancer Research Center in Seattle researching bone marrow transplants. I was VERY excited to support Ed Sullivan's business. Knowing his passion for helping dogs in need of blood transfusions and bone marrow transplants, I was hoping that my dog could maybe be a blood donor, to. Unfortunately, I don't feel comfortable being a patron of his business anymore. Good luck, Ed. May your research prosper. read more

Dr. Sullivan is a wonderful vet to work with. Out older GS has a torn CCL, and Dr. Sullivan has been more than helpful in helping us with various non-surgical remedies to use on Connor. We find his staff to be caring and accommodating as well. Our dog is not friendly towards other dogs, (he is fine with non-canines,) and all concerned have made our visits easier by making sure we do not run into other dogs. read more

This is my third animal whose care has been entrusted to Dr Sullivan. His compassion and thoroughness has enhanced their quality of life and the ease the stress of their worried humanoid (moi). Last Wednesday Arrow let me know that his ears were bugging. Since he'd been on a long wet hike the day before I thought it was a temporary irritation. By Thursday Arrow made it clear he was in pain. I made the call at 4:50 Thursday knowing they were closing in 10 minutes. They booked me for the following afternoon at 3. Dr. Sullivan was such a delight thorough while lovingly ( the love directed at Arrow... get your mind out of the gutter. I may be projecting. Oh my!) explaining and that Arrow had an infection. He gave a single dose ear medication which did the trick most expeditiously. Perusing Arrow's records, he noted Arrow could get his three years rabies so that a trip in the near future would not be necessary. The whole shebang cost about a c-note. Arrow is back to being his somewhat annoying playful 10 month old puppy self. A small part of me almost wishes Arrow needed more visits to Bellingham Veterinary. It is that enjoyable. read more

Soon after we rescued him, Dr. Sullivan saved Tonka's life by performing surgery. Tonka became friends with Dr. Ed and his staff by visiting often to donate blood. Through the years Dr. Ed helped him heal from countless injuries and mishaps. At the end of Tonka's life Dr. Ed helped him pass with dignity and peace. I am new to the area and wanted to establish my rescue pup who has health conditions at a vet in my new town. Unfortunately I had the worst experience with this clinic today. Complete lack of communication and I do not feel my pet was adequately taken care of. I was never talked to about an estimate or asked before given my "invoice". I wasn't asked permission to do a skin scraping or I would have told them it had already been done at a different vet where I moved from. And they could see that in her file from her previous vet. I was charged $115 for medication I can get on Chewy for $20 so I asked them to take it off the invoice. (Apoquel). When I explained I am a college student and asked if I could be referred to somewhere that I can fill that prescription for cheaper I got no response. I am extremely disappointed read more

If your pet qualifies to donate blood, they will receive a free check-up, a meal the day of donation, and a dose of anti-flea medicine. My dogs have been donors for most of the year, and even the shy one who doesn't like strangers still eagerly walks right into the clinic, so i know they're treated well. Recently when i arrived to pick up my pets, it turned out one of my dogs refused to give blood. When i asked for details, they explained he kept pulling his foreleg away when they tried to put the needle in. Instead of being insistent and forcing him, they just put him back in the kennel, fed him, and moved on. I really appreciate that they respected his agency as a living creature, even if he is just a dog. They also still gave me his flea medicine, even though he didn't donate. The reason for only four stars is that a few times they have forgotten to call me and tell me when the dogs were done. Even though my pets like to go in initially, i know that listening to other animals making sad/lonely noises is stressful, so they shouldn't be there any longer than they have to. I was disappointed the times i've had to call late in the day and ask if they're ready, then find out they have been for hours. read more

Our Family Pet, (he is a Pitt bull Mastiff mix, and everyone's favorite dog) has had a lot of medical issues lately. (He is about 11 years old in our years). Bellingham Vet has been amazing!! We know that he is very near the end, but they are doing everything possible to give us as much time possible with him, while keeping him comfortable at the same time. I'm not normally one to write reviews, but I have had such wonderful experiences with Bellingham Veterinary that I decided I would. I have two young cats, one of which kept getting upper respiratory infections and I kept thinking I was doing something wrong/was a bad pet owner. This is important because my parents's vet has always made them feel like bad owners when they'd go in! Anyways, Time after time I call, freaking out and the people over at BVC would always help calm me down and worked super hard to figure out what was wrong. Turned out my cat has a mutation where he doesn't have tear ducts! The vets at BVC know me by name, and are always incredibly kind to me. They have consistently done plenty of work to help my boys feel better. My cats are both very squirrelly and difficult to work with, but the vets there are very patient and gentle. Every time I call to make an appointment, often times they can get me in the same day, or at most the next day. They've even taken my calls very late at night. Reading some of the other low reviews I'm kind of shocked, because being someone who in the last 8 months gone over ten times, I have had nothing but pleasant experiences. read more

Terrible. I just hate it with a passion. The people are nice but don't inform me about anything pertaining to my 1 year old male cat. When I got him nurtured at 6months they estimated It would cost 200$ because they initially thought my cat was female. And he had already been seen by that veterinary. Secondly they did not give me any after care and no pain medication for my poor cat during the healing process. All they do is tell you what your animal needs when you can drop it off and when it will be ready for pick up. Another bad incident is when I got my cat treated for fleas. They didn't tell me to feed him a little before because it was not recommended to on an empty stomach. They also neglected to tell me that it would be a month till he needed to be treated again. They do not give you a summary of your pets visit they just want you to pay and get out. Worst service ever. I hate going there and it's like I have to pray to get any helpful information out of anyone. It's not the cheapest and they don't give the animal the best care with refraining from giving the owner a summary of the visit and after care instructions. I do not recommend at all. read more

I would give this place 0 stars if I could. I had the most frustrating vet experience I have ever had here. I brought my cat in for an exam because he has been excessively licking himself. I was worried it was a thyroid problem. I waited outside the clinic for 40 minutes past his appointment for my cat to be seen. (By the way they don't let you come inside and are kind of rude about it and expect you to just hand over your pet not knowing what they are even doing or charging hundreds of dollars you for).) After the exam they told me blood work needed to be done on him and I would get my results in no less than 7 days. 2 weeks later I still hadn't heard from them. When I called I was told that the Vet was busy and he would call back. No call back. Sent an email. Called again and finally spoke with a receptionist and was once again told that the Vet call me back. At this point I was still worried my cat has some kind of serious illness and want to see the results to attempt get a piece of mind. I asked for them to email me the results and that I still wanted to speak with a Vet so I would wait for them to call him. I received the results and didn't know what they meant obviously. And yet still no call back! I called again and the receptionist vaguely explained what the results me and told me that the Vet suggested my cat had flees. I know for a fact he doesn't have flees because he had them before so I know what they look like. I felt like the vet did not do their job helping find a solution at all and it didn't feel like the receptionist was qualified to help me. Such a terrible experience. Take your money elsewhere and find a better vet. read more

This vet office is kind enough and apologetic enough when you reach out with complaints. That is why I will give them two stars instead of one. However I think they are overbooked and understaffed. I regularly wait on hold for 10+ minutes to call for updates about my cat while he is in their care. Updates I'm told they will call me for. I once left my cat in their care for 10 whole days and did not get an update but once on the second day. They do offer flexible payment options and more than once they have not charged me full visit fees if I bring him in multiple times in a short amount of time which I do appreciate. But there is a severe lack of communication between the vet staff here and the clientele and it is unacceptable. We are leaving our babies here in their care. They should be easier to access, whether that is hiring more office staff or following through on commitments. I also have had to bring my cat back a few times to be told there's "nothing wrong with him" when he is refusing food and not using his litter box which are tell tale signs that usually something is up. He is acting normally now after his last visit but they still couldn't tell me what started the original behavior in the first place. When he had his eye taken out they said they would call us to follow up when the stitches should be ready to be taken out and they never did. It ended up being okay but they really just seem to be understaffed and are thus not following through on commitments to clientele. Such as not even calling them when their pets are ready to go home. read more

Very happy with our visit. Our pup hurt his back a few days before hand and we were hoping he would recover. He only got worse and they were open the latest. We called telling him his situation and they told us to bring him right in. Dr. Sullivan was reassuring and to the point. We were even able to get him updated on his kennel cough medicine. The tech at the front desk was very nice and patient with the gentlemen in front of me with many questions about his pet. read more

There's not enough space on this review to say how thankful I am to Bellingham veterinary clinic in how they took care of my new puppy! I am a homeless man in Bellingham and I now have the incredible blessing of a J Russell puppy that I rescued from an almost certainly fatal environment. I'm disabled and unemployable and receive nothing in the way of assistance aside from the occasional monetary gift from a local family and their non-local Mother. Since the Red Plague broke, what hasn't been closed indefinitely has everyone standing in lines, all distant and frustrated so now playing guitar to survive has become impossible! I was unableable to scrape up the money I was expecting to pay for his shots. Bellingham veterinary clinic not only accepted my puppy has a patient knowing my financial situation (I thought they'd bill me), but they were extremely kind and Chico had no problems before, during or after. They even made sure I had enough follow up medicines! When I explained I would do my best to make payments as soon as possible, the doctor stated that his services were free of charge! I could not contain my gratitude and unfortunately was unable to hug him dueto Corona/covid-19... I'm recommending Bellingham veterinary clinic to everyone I meet who has a pet. They are WONDERFUL! So I don't normally write reviews on Yelp, but today I was so offended by what happened at Bellingham Veterinary Clinic I had to share. About 2 years ago I took my maltese and labradoodle into BVC without a problem. I took my maltese in for a skin infection and my labradoodle in because he had an ear infection. My maltese received medicated skin lotion for her infection. My labradoodle had his ears cleaned out by the doctor and received ear wash as well as ear cleaner enzyme. Everything went fine. His ear infection was gone in about 2 weeks. Now almost 2 years later my labradoodle's ear infection returns :(Before returning to BVC I looked around the medicine cabinet for the bottle that I believed to be the one the doctor gave me. I found a small bottle that looked like the one I received. I brought it to BVC when I walked in there was no one at the front desk after about 5-7 minutes of standing along a woman in her late 60 walked out from the back room. I told her the issue I was having with my dog and she said "let me look you up in my computer". I gave her my name. She found my file and pulled it up. She then explained that she has no record of me bringing in my labradoodle. She did however have a record of me bringing in my Maltese. I explained to her that I brought them in at the same time and there must be some mistake. She gave me a look like I was lying to her about bringing in my labradoodle and said "we don't make mistakes." I was very taken back by her look and comment. Because I know for a !!FACT!! I brought in my labradoodle the same day as my Maltese and had his ears cleaned. Plus why would I lie about something like this? I have absolutely NOTHING to gain. I tried to explain this to her, plus I gave her the description of the doctor and the back room behind door #3 that the doctor took my dog into when they were doing his cleaning. She said, "there is no back room." She then proceeded to treat me like I was a meth junky trying to get my hand on some pills. All I wanted was some NON prescription ear wash for my dog. Instead I got treated like a jerk. She then proceeded to ring me up for the NON PRESCRIPTION ear wash I came into buy, but after all of that I couldn't give them my business. So I told her no thank you and I drove over to Fountain Veterinary Hospital to buy my dogs ear wash. Not exactly sure what's wrong with that woman. VERY disappointed with this clinic. Two of my dogs have been blood donors there for a few years, for which we get discounts, etc., and the dogs have always been thrilled to go in there. They've also been very kind about letting us pay over time, which was vital during the long, expensive illness of one of our dogs, who we had to PTS in the end. Our first qualms were during the final stages of that illness. Almost two weeks ago, my boys were in to give blood. The clinic got busy, and they didn't get to them until late afternoon, up to which point they had no food or water or exercise. They took them out (to potty?), then put them into a single kennel. My dogs are greyhounds: thin skin and fur, no fat. They almost instantly got in a fight in those close quarters. I was not informed at that time, and didn't have any idea until I went to pick them up, and was handed two traumatized, bloody and stapled dogs. There was never an apology, and they handed me a bill (not including the fight-related charges - staples, anesthesia). I was in shock, and didn't put up a fuss. I have since written them two emails, and when I got no response, printed them and sent them by mail, and have still received no response and no follow-up of any kind. I had always liked everyone in this clinic, but my trust has just been blown up completely. This shows a true lack of compassion for the pets, which is a baseline requirement of a good vet clinic. read more

I went here after a friend told me this clinic had been wonderful to her and her dog. I took my dogs there for the first time today and left pretty annoyed with the experience we had. The vet came in and chatted for a bit which was fantastic, a nice guy who asked some great questions. Then the assistant came in and she was great too, but when they brought my two dogs back from having their anal glands expressed my dogs were covered in anal gland goo! I've been to several vets to have this procedure done for my dogs, and they've always cleaned my dogs up for me. At the very least other vets have sprayed cleanser on a paper towel and wiped my dogs' rears, but usually they offer to give them a quick bath in the back. But Bellingham Veterinary sent both my dogs out covered in ick, apparently expecting me to be okay with them riding in my car like that. I was not pleased! read more

Brought my dog here after he was hit by a car fracturing his pelvis and damaging his eye. Spoke with Dr. Ed Sullivan before bringing him in and he was very caring and understanding. He mentioned that they offer a payment plan which was very helpful as this was a very unexpected expense. My dog had surgery the next day and home the following day. Two and half weeks later he is doing fantastic. His incisions are healed, he is walking on his own, back to being his normal self. Ed and his staff were extremely pleasant, professional and caring. I have nothing but positive things to say about this clinic. It is obvious from meeting Ed that he is passionate about animal care and will go the extra mile to help you and your pet. read more

Just left my appointment and I am very angry. First off, the doctor came in and sat on the floor. He yawned like 10 times within 5 minutes and was not giving much interest or care into our problem. I spent 73 dollars for a doctor to be unhelpful and rude. He told me that I need to get another dog to help my anxious dog and that I need to get a muzzle type collar to restrain him from barking so I can control his head. I AM BEYOND FRUSTRATED. SO RUDE. If I knew his name I would be posting it here. THEN, he left the room and didn't say anything to close so I assumed he was coming back in the room. He prescribed my dog medicine without even asking like questions or anything. So sketchy. My dog and I sat there for 25 minutes in silence and I could hear the receptionist ask another doctor if we were still there and that the doctor had left. SO, we were sitting in there for no reason. If I would not have taken my dog to the bathroom they would not have even known I was still in the building. NEVER GOING BACK! read more

Dr Sullivan is the 5th vet in the Bellingham area I've taken my cat to and he is the only one I would highly recommend. He is a very proficient and caring vet with great analytical skills. He used a common sense approach to treating my cat and explained options patiently while offering alternatives to be considered. Just got our cat back from Bellingham Veterinary. Took him in thinking minor issues, turned out to be pretty major. The staff at Bham Vet are awesome! Very helpful, informative, and accommodating. I won't hesitate to bring a fuzzy family member back to this fine place. read more
