My wife and I hired BellHop for our move from Florida to Ohio. If I could give them less than one star, I most definitely would. They packed our things in the truck so horribly bad. They stacked a desk on top of our things because they stripped the screws and couldn't take it apart. They scooted our 85" tv across the ground, unprotected, after telling my wife over and over they would wrap it to keep it protected. They intentionally left items (an adult bike, a heat press, and a battery powered mower) sitting on the side of our house, hoping that my wife would not see them. When they were confronted, one of the movers owned up to trying to deceive us into thinking that the items had been loaded. They used a rake and a shovel to shove our king size mattress onto the truck when they discovered the door would not shut because of horribly it was packed. Now that the delivery is in Ohio, we have many many items that are scratched, bent, etc because of the way they were packed. My wife contacted BellHop, but cannot get anyone to call her back. She has emailed, and called with no response from anyone. If you are looking to schedule movers, please, bypass this company. read more

Customer service is AI. You can ONLY speak to a human if you are booking, of course. We've been fighting them for our refund for over a month. They broke expense chairs for example, and offered $6.00 replacement. That's just the start of what they've done. They broke so much stuff, my refund is $478 so imagine at $6.00 for one item just how much stuff they broke!!! I signed the agreement week before last and they will not respond that it was not sent. They refuse to return calls or emails and I've called every day. They say within 2 days but not true. I hired Bellhop for a next day move, because I had to be out of my apartment that next day. First, the mover calls me and says he would show up two hours late at 5pm, which I said was fine, as long as I was out by midnight. They finally showed around 5:45. Clearly one of the movers was spooked by my overly friendly dog, which was fine as well - I shut them in the bathroom. Then, the head mover said he was having tech issues with the Bellhop app and to give him some time. I foolishly trusted him and gave him an hour before I went to check the parking lot - no truck. They just left without saying anything. According to Bellhop I was not "move ready" which is crap. The one mover was clearly too scared of my contained dog to do the job, and now I'm out my deposit and a $200 cancellation fee because they couldn't reschedule me fast enough. Ridiculous. read more

I used Bellhop for my move. I had miged 90 % of the boxes my self and I was just looking for help for the furniture and heavy items. I was moving from a 1400 square home. do not much furniture as you can imagine. The truck was only loaded on the bottom not stacked. I was told the truck was full so we could not get all of my items. So. I ended up moving by self the rest of the items. 2 of the 3 movers seemed inexperienced. My beds and dressers were all damaged. the set my dresser on my stair rail and pushed it up the stairs causing damage to my stair rail and my furniture. my walls were damaged as were mt doors. I have called them several times I was into ally told to fill out a claim form. I did that 2 weeks ago. I have called 3 times since and keep being told they are short staffed in thier claims department and they will get back to me by the end of the day. They never do. my beds were put back together by then with a bag of left over hardware so I had to disassemble my beds to put them back together with all of the hardware to make sure they were safe and sturdy. I would not recommend Bellhop to anyone. I used Bellhop for a long distance move from Chicago to Columbus. I was assured time and time again that the team would have extensive amounts of plastic wrap and moving blankets to ensure that everything was packed and protected for the drive. The team who loaded my furniture from Chicago barely used any of the packing blankets and put both an end table and my dresser face down on the truck without any sort of protection. There were plenty of unused moving blankets that were brand new still in plastic wrap, so this was not an issue of running out of supplies. The way that the "professional" team packed the truck would be the way that I would have packed the truck, which is why I hired professionals for a reason. I would hardly call this a professional effort. The truck driver, Scotty was fantastic. He was on time and very friendly. I have nothing but good things to say about the driver and the team in Columbus. The Team in Columbus was just as shocked as I was to see how poorly the truck was packed and how much stuff was damaged beyond repair. Below is a list of all the items that were damaged due to the lack of time or care from the "professional" team who packed the truck: - West Elm Couch - West Elm Swivel Chair - West Elm Entryway table - West Elm Entertainment Console - Macys Dresser - Macys Bed Frame - Target Cabinet - Kitchen Chair - Custom Framed Canvas The team in Columbus helped to document how poorly this was packed and admitted that it all was fully preventable. Because the customer service was excellent when I was booking my move, I assumed I would get the same treatment when filing my claim. This was NOT the case. I have been trying to get in contact with the team and have received very little communication in return. I was waiting to write this review to see if the Bellhop team would be able to resolve this issue in a professional and reasonable way. However I received the settlement offer that the Bellhop team deemed fair, which came out to be a totally inadequate and insultingly low offer. Save yourself the trouble and book your move somewhere else. It's extremely disappointing that such a highly rated company allowed this to happen. read more

Hired the company to move our big furniture (couch, beds, dressers), got a quote for $400+ for four hours and two people. Totally fair. We had the truck rented, we just needed the furniture loaded and unloaded. I was told at the initial approval, a 10% deposit and final payment after the move. They charged me the entire estimate before the job had even started. To add insult to injury, we had to delay the move because of the previous tenants, I called to reschedule, I was told that it would I would have to pay additional charges for the reschedule...I told them to cancel the job. They charged me a $200.00 cancellation fee. I disputed the charges with the bank and got all my money back. I have seen some good reviews of Bellhop. They were highly recommended from a friend which is why I tried to use them however they really dropped the ball on this one. read more

I moved from Houston, TX to Columbus, OH. During the move, the movers did not communicate and completed shattered my marble dining room table. Apparently, one of the movers had unscrewed the base from the top and didn't tell the rest of his team. One of the other team members bumped into it, shattering it all over my floors in my house. This table was almost $1700 and only a year old. They also didn't removed the chunks of marble that they shattered and just left it in my house. I had to find someone on my own to move this out of my house. I reported everything to Bellhop and they are only offering me $141 for my table that cost me almost $1700. This was complete negligence on their part and disrespectful to offer only $141 for shattering my dining table. I had told the team countless times that it's my favorite piece in my home and I made design choices around the table and was the one thing they managed to completely destroy while it was still in my house. It never even made it to the truck. The Bellhop team said they go by weight and is why the offer is so low. This should not apply to items that are completely mishandled and the cost to replace the item is significantly higher than their weight system. I am in the process of filing in small claims court in order to recover my funds. I would stay far away from this company. read more

BellHops really came through for me when I needed movers last-minute. Ayrielle and Christian helped me with my recent move from an apartment to a house. They were both genuinely awesome-- very genial, personable, and still professional. The level of care and service they provided is one that is hard to come by, in my opinion. They used blankets and plastic wrap to protect my belongings (I had tried to plastic wrap some of my nicer items, but they took the time to wrap even those items I didn't have time for). It was pouring rain, yet they were friendly and efficient the entire time. They even took great care to ensure my floors didn't get muddy when coming in and out of the house (totally unnecessary, but still greatly appreciated!). I couldn't have asked for a better experience. PS- I have used BellHops for at least one other past move and had an equally pleasant experience. This wasn't just a one-off occurrence. read more

We booked with Bellhop more than a month ahead of our move. They were quick, responsive, and seemingly affordable. On the actual day of our move, Bellhop was supposed to arrive at 8:00a. At 7:56 I get a text from the driver saying they were "having truck issues. Trying to secure another truck now. Didn't want you to think no one was going to show up." 10 mins later I get a call from their customer service... telling me they actually cannot move us! This is after they should have arrived at our home for the move! One rep said that there was a truck issue, another said the driver called to say his driver's license was stolen so he couldn't drive. When asked why the two movers (1 driver, 2 movers) couldn't drive, we were told they were uncomfortable doing this. Initially we were told that we could rent a UHaul and they could provide the labor. Then we were told there were no available trucks. After multiple phone calls, we were told they could switch our move to Wednesday. No consideration for folks who have to be out of one residence bc they legally no longer own or lease it. No consideration for time taken off work, childcare and the exceptional stress associated with moves that don't have these types of issues. While the customer service reps were kind and understanding (and not responsible for this), it's clear (from Twitter) that this is not uncommon for BellHop. Worthless moving company will make excuses the day of your move even after you call the night before to confirm. Hired 3 guys. They said a guy broke his wrist, I called less than 12 hours ago and you said we were good to go. They offered 1 guy for light lifting, I can move the boxes I need dressers and couches moved. They offered 30% off next move, worthless I just bought a house I'm moving into. I will never recommend this company. You should look for someone else to help you move. read more

We booked a move for my daughter's apartment , we had used this company a year ago for the same daughter. We were charged 425 that was the minimum (3hr) minimum but they were down after 2:15 mins. This time they quoted us 6:10 which was 50%more but with the pandemic we understood. My daughter had no living room furniture or dining room set, her biggest piece of furniture was her bed. They showed up 40 mins late and no call we had to call them. They moved at a snail pace and I call the office because they had my credit card on file and with the way these guys were moving I knew it was going to take forever and it did.... Now they are trying to charge me 1074. No appliances, no living room furniture no dressers no dining room furniture. DON'T USE THIS COMPANY!!!!!! read more

First of all, I need to rate Ray and Michael 1,000 stars because THEY WERE INCREDIBLE. Truly, they did all they could which is why I'm giving 3 stars instead of 0. Only one of the two movers showed up due to a miscommunication. I get it, we are all humans, things happen. But due to the understaffing, me, my roommate, and the driver (who genuinely tried as hard as he could, but he was not able bodied) had to help move and load the truck. Since my move was today, I'm still waiting to hear back from the customer care team to see how I will be reimbursed. Bellhop puts a hold on your card for the maximum amount of time the move should last. So, I am down about $700 for a move that I had to help with. So, we'll see where it goes from here. read more

I used Bellhop for my latest move. I really wish I hadn't. My wife purchased a Groupon for $150, good for $200 worth of services. I went to Bellhops website to see what I needed to do to arrange my move. Bellhop ask's a series of questions about how big you place is, how many rooms, do you have any of these items to move, how far away from the street etc. Using this they give you a price and set you up for how many people and the amount of time it will take to move you. After answering their questions, I was told it would take 4 people with a truck, 5 hours to move me, for about $950. Before I moved, I started getting calls from Bellhop to switch all my services through them. Fine, I suspect that they make some extra money on getting people to switch utilities through them, but I don't know. On Bellhops website the Groupon took us to gave us a 5% off code to utilize for our move. When I tried to book, I could not get the Groupon or the %5 off code to work. I called Bellhop and customer service added both of these to my account. Moving day came and 3 out of 4 people showed up. I was told the other person could not get off work. So those 3 would just have to pick it up. The Driver told me that Bellhop screwed up this move because it should have been a 2-truck move. He said we may have to make a 2nd trip. Well 5 hours turned into 13 and they did not finish. I ended up having to rent my own U-Haul and finishing moving myself. However, Bellhop charged me full price over $2500 for 4 people. I have to complain to get them to lower the amount because I was being charged for someone who was not there. They took off the extra person but nothing else and left me to clean up their mistake myself. read more

Don't do it. Had stuff that was broke. I was on my way to Ca on an assignment and would be gone for 13 weeks. Before I left I saw that my wheel on (my fairly new grill) was broke and the driver/mover tried to conceal it. I called and I was in Ca and they wanted me to take a pic of it. I can't its in storage and my stuff is in OHIO, I am in California. So they stated the settled a claim for 200.00 of which I never rec'd. First it was in my checking and then sent it to my PREVIOUS address. I received nothing. Fast forward to October 2021, I come home, get settled in my condo I bought. Of course I don't hire them again, when we are at the storage unit, I find things missing and about 5 things that are broke. A lot of open space where things aren't packed correctly. I called them and explain my situation and they tell me since I already have a claim on the grill, they wont file another one. I didn't receive the first one!!!! I would think twice about hiring them and they weren't cheap. Never again Also be very aware of their start time and finish time as they tried to add 15 minutes as to when they left. read more

It was awful. We did tons of research to find the right company. The reviews looked good and they said all the right things. We booked a few weeks ahead and they took their deposit. Just a few days before the move they called and said that they were too busy to do it because it was the end of the month and a lot of people were trying to move. Unfortunately we had to hand over our keys the day after the move, so them backing out of the contract left us in big trouble. What type of a company waits weeks to cancel? This wasn't something out of their control. They knew it was the end of the month when they made the commitment and took our money. Moving is stressful enough without a company like this that doesn't give two thoughts about breaking their promises and stranding their customers. This company was hired to do a local move for me. They show up on time and get half of the house loaded into a truck. Then the supervisor comes up to me and says one of the guys complained he saw a mouse. Well I live in subdivision that was built in a field. Yeah, your gonna be hard pressed not to find a mouse in any home here. He has to call corporate per policy and they decided to cancel my move ON THE DAY OF with 2 days to go on my closing. They said it was an unsafe work environment and that I needed to hire an exterminator before they will come back. GET REAL!! I'm not hiring an exterminator for one mouse when I'm closing on the house in 2 days!! You guys left me in such a predicament and I had to find another company to move me last minute. Luckily I found one and they moved me with no issues! I would not recommend this company for moving, it seems they have a history of cancelling last minute. Several of these types of reviews on yelp. Even the supervisor said that these guys likely didn't want to work because it was cold out. Extremely unprofessional!! Both our guys were awesome! We had a big moving job, moving out of one place and moving two whole trucks/trailers into another. Plus it was raining the whole day. Both guys were on time, really nice and professional, did a fantastic job, and didn't once seem phased by the rain at all -- Bless their hearts! They were really, really mindful of our stuff. I overheard them a few times rearranging the way they were moving something b/c the way they picked it up first might damage the floor or damage the item itself. My fiance and I really appreciated this care and attention. All in all we got the whole thing done in about 4 hours. I am not one for reviews, especially bad ones but after this nightmare I feel compelled to share to hope no one ever has to experience this. My fiancé and I scheduled our move a little over two weeks in advance. We were set to go for a 9am Saturday morning move. Bellhop called my fiancé at 9pm Friday night (the night before we were supposed to move) and told us they weren't able to find staff to move us, leaving us no choice but to wait (since all other companies were closed) until the morning of our planned move to first find same-day movers. Needless to say I would ABSOLUTELY NOT recommend this company to a single person. So many other companies that I called the morning of our move were appalled by this and were luckily kind enough to move their schedules around to help us out. 0/5 stars is unfortunately not an option, so I gave them 1. read more

I would like to give them ZERO star for my moving.I have done so many moving, including local, inter-state, and international. This is the worst moving ever. Captain of moving crew didn't show up at the initial moving date. The other two moving crews and a truck driver said they were not able to do moving without the captain and they left after 1 hour waiting doing nothing. It was rescheduled the next day morning at 8am. I got a phone call from Bellhop customer service around 7:40 am the next day. They said they couldn't find a truck and suggested me to rent a U-haul truck so that they can help loading/unloading and the truck rental should be reimbursed. I declined the offer because I was not comfortable driving a big truck. Then they said they will figure out truck rental and reschedule the move in the afternoon on the same day. They came later afternoon with a small U-haul truck which doesn't accommodate all my stuff. We had to leave some stuff in my old place and move them later by myself. Bellhop gave me 20% off but it was the most horrible experience. read more

It's two days before my move date and "my team" has changed multiple times, with no one currently assigned to my job. Every time I talk with a rep they say that there "should be movers assigned by tomorrow" but that has yet to happen. I've been told (and can gather from other reviews) they'll offer me another move date if they don't provide anyone. This is probably obvious for anyone else planning a move, but that's not feasible for a number of reasons including -the truck I rented, -the people I enlisted to help, and -the fact my lease is ending. The bellhops arrived on time, but without a truck or ANY basic moving supplies. I double checked the receipt and specified numerous times that a truck would be necessary. We moved the furniture downstairs efficiently and the bellhops gave great customer service. HOWEVER The truck didnt arrive until almost 3 hours later. I had to call customer service numerous times to even get an update on the status of the truck, it was not communicated to me. After waiting around a unmarked white truck finally pulls up, and guess what, not a single moving pad, mattress cover(requested), and only one moving strap. I went and bought moving supplies in order to safely complete the move. The job which should have taken 45 minutes, took 4 hours. It was the least professional moving experience I have ever experienced in my life from start to finish. Joe the bellhop was the saving grace as he kept good customer service the whole time. After the move, Bellhops did knock down the charge to half the original price. Would 100% steer people clear of using this moving service, I needed only a few pieces of furniture moved, I can't imagine trusting this company with even that in the future. read more

They were very polite and asked where things should go, and I think that's important to ask so we don't have to feel bossy to ask them to place things in the proper places. I've used them twice in the Columbus Ohio area, I'll only use them with that being said they are not professional movers so a little paint may get scratched and some things may get little bumps, but it beats moving it yourself. read more
