I am floored at the unprofessional, shady nature of my interactions with at least 5 employees of this company. I called nearly a month ago and talked to a nice lady named Michelle. I told her I was looking to move in a little over a month's time intra-state (so not exactly long distance- right at the border at 150 miles away) with a 1br apartment. With a few other details, she told me they had a special running and I could get 2hrs loading, 2hrs travel, and 2hrs unloading including 2 men and one moving truck for $1095. I said great! I got her number directly and said I'd call in a few weeks when my moving date was firm. Cut to earlier this week. I called Michelle last week and had to leave a message as there was only VM. No callback by Tuesday so I called again. Again I got her VM so I left another message and called the main company line. I first got transferred to the local sales dept and my call was dropped after ten minutes of obnoxious static noise. Then I called again and got transferred to a lady who seemed shocked at the price I was quoted and said "Michelle is my friend, let me get ahold of her first" and I was then put on hold for over 45 minutes before I realized I was being put off and hung up. I called again and got a guy who questioned me as he said they don't have trucks they only have pods and they will pick them up but the wait is about 5-7 days before they could then take it to my new place... he then transferred me to another person who then said he has no idea how that quote was made but the same details I told him were now running up to $1900!!! I still haven't had a call back from Michelle...or anyone else for that matter. It is obvious this is a crappy company with no coordination between employees and no one who can give me a straight answer or return a simple phone call. Cowardly and unprofessional. I will never work this hard to spend money at a business which is so shoddily held together!!! My friend had a contract with Zippy to have their items delivered to their new apartment within 7-10 days. After MANY phone calls with very few answers, they've finally be given an estimated delivery date that is nearly a full month after their items were picked up. read more

Locally they are amazing. They banged out the loading and communicated well. I definitely think they were great! But man the corporate associates are rude and unhelpful. The on hold times are HORRIBLE to even get to speak with them. When you do get them on the line they really don't care about you because you're in contract with them by this point and at their mercy. First off- Zippy Shell Columbus and Zippy Shell INC. are two totally different company's both legally and professionally!! I can't thank Dave from Zippy Shell COLUMBUS enough! After making a move from Austin, TX to Columbus, OH- and having the worst time with the INC side ... Dave was the only one to give us any communication, answers, and even results. We spoke to him personally after being notified our shell had finally made it to Columbus. We let him know what terrible experiences we had leading up to him receiving our shell here. He immediately sympathized and worked diligently to personally bring our shell to our new home THAT DAY and even helped us unload. My family and I moved from Atlanta Georgia here to Columbus Ohio with a whole houseful of furniture, toys, etc. We had three pods full. Dave, Who is the owner, showed up with two other wonderful men that were responsible, respectful, fast, and got the whole job done in less than three hours. They did not hit any walls or hurt any of our furniture, in fact they were livid with the movers from Atlanta That did a horrible job packing. They took pictures of all the damage for me, and reported it. By far this company exceeds any other company. read more

Absolutely do NOT use this company. Zippy Shell promised us (and our contract stipulated) our belongings would be delivered in 7-10 days, or 6-8 business days. We are currently on day 18 without our belongings and have no delivery date in sight. Zippy Shell's customer service can only tell us that our belongings have reached the destination warehouse and that they are attempting to get in contact with them. They would not let us contact the warehouse or even tell us where it is located. It took numerous phone calls from both myself and my boyfriend to even get Zippy Shell to pick up a phone and call the warehouse. To say we are disappointed is an understatement as we are currently living and attempting to work in an apartment with a blow-up mattress as our only furniture. So if you care about your belongings avoid this company. read more

Zippy Shell handled our entire move from our sold home, then storage of all our home contents for a month until our new build was ready, and then redelivered to our brand new condo! Efficient. Great communication. If Zippy Shell promises something, they come through. I would not hesitate to recommend them to family and friends. Shout out to Margie Widay who made my life so much easier. She handled everything and I always knew what was going on. This last point I want to stress: every young man who moved our belongings were amazingly kind and polite. We have antique furniture that has been in my husband's family for over 100 years, and I couldn't be more pleased with how carefully everything was protected. Dave is hands-down one of the most efficient and professional movers I've had to use in quite a long time. If you use zippy shell and a loader / mover the 3 day timeframe can absolutely be hit with the trailer. I used zippy shell for a move heading to Wisconsin and while I have not made my way to Wisconsin just yet, his professionalism and willing to help in anyway shape or form made the transition that much easier. I initially looked at moving as a wall that was on unscalable and with Dave and zippy shell I was able to start the scaling of this wall. We used Zippy Shell to move my mother. Dave, the owner, was thoughtful, timely, and communicative. Our move consisted of moving out of an apartment, one month storage, and unloading at a new apartment. The container, to my surprise, was actually a cage and the cage was deposited in a box truck. During storage, the cage is unloaded in a climate controlled warehouse. We didn't suffer for this, but some might be concerned. I would definitely use Zippy again! I had the best experience with Dave and Zippy shell. Moving back from Chicago I used zippy shell. They were on time for arrival in Chicago and made it back to Columbus without any issue. I needed to store the zippy for 3 weeks until I moved into my new apartment. During that time I needed get a few items out of the zippy and Dave was more than accomadating in helping me get into the warehouse and grab the few items. Dave was very helpful on move in day as well, he was right on time and even went as far as helping me move some things into my house. They underestimated the size of my move and lost parts of our adjustable bed then charged me to look for them. We have never found them so I had to order new ones. When confronted they showed me a line in their boilerplate contract saying they were not responsible for lost or damaged items. read more

Please don't waste your time with Zippy Shell. They are a terrible company. I made a move from Columbus, Oh to Columbia, Mo. We had our belongings picked up from our home in Columbus on May 25th. They told us it would be 6-8 business days or 7-10 total days from the time our belongings were picked up to when they are delivered to the destination. It has been 19 days since the 25th and we still dont have our things. We have called Zippy shell customer service more than 10 times over the last 2 weeks trying to get and update. They couldn't give us any updates besides when it left Columbus to when it arrived at the "destination warehouse". We finally got an update yesterday (June 12) that our belongings are set to be delivered on June 23rd, nearly 1 whole month from when they picked our belongings up originally. The kicker, they are trying to charge us the full amount without our belongings being in our possession. I would give them 0 stars if I could. read more

I can not recommend Zippy Shell more for your moving needs. Dave and his team were AWESOME and had me moved out of my third floor (walk-up) apartment and into my house in two hours. Their pricing was half that of the local competition, and I got to work directly with the owner for personalized, one-on-one service, as opposed to some random sales person like at some of the larger local moving companies. All and all, Zippy Shell made a typically stressful experience into a pleasant one and I wouldn't hesitate to use them again. Two thumbs up! read more

If anyone is looking for a company to do moving/storage, I wanted to share this contact info. I recently purchased a new sofa for my basement and contracted them for delivery. They were amazing!! The owner and his assistant went above and beyond in every aspect. The sofa was supposed to go down to our basement and it was not going easily. They ended up spending 2 hours here, trying to make it work. They were so courteous, they never showed even a moment's frustration, and when it came time to pay, they didn't try to ask for more money, even to deliver the sectional back to the Arhaus Loft (because it wouldn't fit, which ultimately was OUR mistake for not measuring properly.) This is simply a level of customer service that is almost impossible to find in this day and age. I will definitely use them again. read more

I decided to move my belongings from my former storage unit into Zippy Shell Greater Columbus in November of 2015, after hearing Dave Rothman's radio ad. At that time, most of my belongings were in the largest storage unit at Cardinal Self-Storage. I was paying $215.00/month, and that rate had increased by $90.00 during the 3 years I'd stored there. Dave Rothman's Zippy Shell ad was aimed at attracting people who currently had storage units, as it promised to save anyone $100.00/month. After moving into a shell at Zippy, customers would then lock in at that rate. His ad has proved true. I am very happy that the storage rate hasn't increased, as I have now had my possessions in storage at Zippy for 17 months. Zippy Shell offers many attractive services which are important to me, and which I haven't found in other storage and moving companies. The cost of moving into storage was lower than other moving companies. There were no charges for the time taken to drive to the load-up address nor back to the storage facility, no charge for mileage, and no charge for the time taken to unload at the storage facility - as your belongings remain in the shell. Another beneficial and convenient feature is that Dave Rothman contracts with his own movers. I didn't have to spend time calling various movers, getting quotes, and scheduling appointments. And the movers Dave contracted with to move my possessions from Cardinal into a Zippy shell were fantastic. They were very mannerly, respectful, and worked very hard. They loaded everything into their shell in 1/2 of the time other movers have taken. Also, they were able to get everything from a larger storage unit into the shell, and packed everything neatly and securely! When I moved to a new residence in September, 2016, I was again amazed at how fantastic the movers were! The move was completed in 1/3 the time it has taken in the past. I have moved many times in the past. The movers Dave contracted with for this move were Buckeye Movers. There was a team of 3 movers - Brad, James, and Nick. They arrived right on time, were very respectful, knowledgeable, and worked hard. The driver and lead mover, Brad, was very knowledgeable about moving in general and gave helpful advice. This move wasn't easy because my belongings from a 3-bedroom condo had been in storage for 4 years prior to this move. I couldn't remember what was in every box! James and Nick moved the large, unboxed items into the apartment while I stayed by the truck for Brad to open many boxes to show me what was inside. This was very helpful, and necessary, as I was moving into a smaller place and could only take about 1/3 of my belongings. James and Nick demonstrated excellent judgment in placing the furniture in the apartment. The movers had to move a lot of items out of the shell in order to get items I was taking, and then repack the remaining items into the shell to return to storage. Still, they completed the entire move in a very short time of 2 hours and 15 minutes. Another service Zippy Shell offers which is EXTREMELY important to me is being able to obtain items from the shell if I need them. When deciding whether or not to move my items to Zippy Shell, I was concerned about not being able to get items when I needed them, as there isn't individual access. I have needed to get a few things out of my shell twice during the last 17 months. Dave was accommodating both times, and arranged for me to get into my shell within 4 days of calling him.
