I am new to the area and am very finicky about who does my hair. I reviewed salons in Austin on Yelp and discovered Belle. After reading all of the reviews and reviewing her website, I decided to make an appointment without any trepidation, I felt good with this decision. My appointment was today. When I walked into Belle's I instantly felt calm, relaxed and welcomed into her space. Belle really pays attention to what you want but isn't afraid to give a little of her own flare into the mix, if you're willing to allow it. The color is fabulous, the cut is beautiful, I feel amazing! The neck massage was a pleasant plus; however, the real treasure was the mediation session we shared together while waiting for the color to set. Spending time with Belle today reminded me why I used to meditate, so I am going to incorporate meditation into my daily routine again, starting today! Belle Cardinal, owner-stylist of Belle's Beauty Box, has been doing my hair for a while. I started seeing her when she was still working at a mid-town salon. She has since branched out on her own. Her new salon is a studio in the Sola Salon Studios complex on Burnet Road (Northcross location). It's a consortium of independent salon professionals, each owning their own "salon". We've been working on lightening my hair. Well, not "we", 'cause all I do is show up and sit in her chair :) . Lightening hair involves bleaching and thus damages the hair to some extent, Belle has been very conscientious in doing the right thing so I don't end up with a head of straw! I've been very happy with the progress. Sure, I'd rather go from my dark Asian hair to Marilyn Monroe hair in just one visit, which is probably doable, but it'll be so damaging to my hair that I'll probably end up looking like Beetlejuice! She listened to what I want and mapped out a plan to achieve the best in looks and with minimal damage to my hair. She is very skilled, and is a sweetheart to boot. She also does waxing. A short little anecdote regarding my first haircut with Belle: I was feeling a little low in my life... like I needed to make a change. I felt very weighed down by my life and it eventually presented outwardly towards my hair. Hearing nothing but good things about Belle's ability to create a masterpiece with her skills, I set an appointment to chop all of my hair off. I walked in, gaze at my feet, feeling particularly low that day but wager to make a change with Belle. For most of my life, I've not enjoyed getting my hair cut--I've always viewed it as a chore, so I've just gone to whatever salon/stylist was nearby and convenient. I was jealous of people who had a specific stylist that they loved and trusted. I started seeing Belle when she worked at a different salon. I had been there a few times and seen a few different stylists, but liked Belle the best. When I called up a couple of months ago to make an appointment with her and was told that she had left, I decided to follow her to her new place rather than try yet another stylist. I looked her up online and soon found out that she was working in her own little studio. I'm very glad that I found her again! It has been six weeks since Belle worked her magic on my hair and I am still getting compliments every single day. That is a good haircut! Belle was able to bring my dull, lifeless hair back to life and I am having so much fun with my new haircut. I took in photos of what I wanted and Belle was able to translate those photos into this fabulous cut which I can style different ways or just let my hair go with the flow. Belle nails it every single time. Belle has both cut and colored my hair, which is no easy task. I have very thick hair and before I found Belle I had never walked away from an appointment feeling like "yes! Exactly what I was thinking!" I started my hair journey with Belle 2 years ago, she took me from the regular look I had always had to this elevated and completely accurate version of who I was, which was something no other hairdresser has ever done for me. Everytime I go I have the best experience, she can do anything I ask her too and she often shows me more than I even knew I wanted. Six weeks ago I visited Belle's Beauty Box for the first time and it was the best hair styling experience I've ever had. Not only did she begin the process of getting my hair to a lighter color, she totally changed the way I treat my hair for the better. Just when I had almost given up on finding a new stylist to truly replace my old one of many years, I found Belle! I explained my hair's problem spots to her, along with a brief description of the particular cutting technique my old stylist used to tame these issues. I've been going to Belle for 5 years. In that time we've experimented with long & short hair, styles from crazy to conservative & colors all over the spectrum. Its always turned out perfectly!
