Just had to put this out there - Dr. Maribel Vicente and her crew at Bella Smiles La Mesa are fantastic. Dr. Vicente is a perfectionist and really warm-hearted. I've been taking my family there for a few years now and she always takes the time to help us understand our options and provides her professional opinion. I've visited other dental offices in La Mesa but I always felt as if I were being "sold" and I've never felt that way here. She and her staff genuinely care about the dental health of their patients. 5 Stars all day! Thank you Dr. Vicente and Staff! read more

Still awesome! Have been going every six months and in between for fillings and a cracked tooth, ouch. They offered me whitening with my last appointment. With masks coming off, no way I was turning it down! read more

I used to be afraid to go with the dentist, and I started going with Dr. Maribel, about two years ago ,they are so professional, making me feel very comfortable. I'm planning to continue going. I feel like they're the best, I definitely will recommend them! read more

I love this place! Viri, the receptionist, is so friendly and welcoming. My first visit, I had so much stuff that needed to be done, and both the dental assistant and Dr. Vicente were excellent! They were gentle, efficient, and fast! I never had to wait long. My appointments (I've had 4 here already) have always been on time. And while I'm getting work done, I always get to choose a movie... which is definitely a bonus in my book! Their office is also very clean. We have TriCare's United Concordia (my husband is military) and I'm so happy to have found such a pleasant place to come to with great people for my dental appointments. :-) read more

Dr Vicente was so gentle and kind. I had teeth cleaning and two filings and I felt no pain. I actually fell asleep during the procedure. I would highly recommend her! She is located in La Mesa and has a great staff working for her. read more

I have a Care Credit account and Maribel Vicente, DMD was listed as a provider. I am so happy I found her and her staff! They are really nice and knowledgeable; the affordable prices cinched the deal for us! Their office is very clean and bright. On the upper level of a building that I wouldn't have thought had a dental office but it isn't hard to find. Unlike other dentists, they did not pressure sale me for anything. I feel that she is honest and simply wants to best for my family's teeth. Even if we move out of La Mesa, I'm still gonna see her. She's great! read more

I have been going to the same dentist since I was 9 years old, so searching for a dentist always freaked me out. I have heard of so many instances in which my friends would feel ripped off during their dentist experience...I am so happy that a coworker referred me to Dr. Vicente. Their entire staff is superb. They are extremely welcoming, organized and knowledgeable. They are flexible with my scheduling and ensure that I am knowledgeable about my appointments by sending me reminders. Dr. Vicente is so nice. She's so gentle when it comes to my teeth and I always leave feeling so fresh and clean. It also doesn't hurt that I can fall asleep to a movie while getting my teeth worked on. That's new to me. Check them out, I promise...You won't be disappointed. read more

If you are looking for a dentist, you have found her. Dr. Vicente's offices and staff are well organized and up-to-date. Appointments are always on time and the overall care is unmatched. I have jaw issues and general sensitivity so I am particular about whom I allow to do work in my mouth. Of all the dentists I've had in my 70 years, Dr. Vicente is without peer. She must have the gentlest touch in the business. Her attention to detail extends to all aspects of patient assessment and care. I highly recommend Dr. Vicente's services, you will not be disappointed. read more

I should also mention that you can watch Netflix while work is being done to you. Sometimes I decline, but on my most recent visit, I was getting a crown (a longer process), so I said "sure" when offered, and Dr. Vicente browsed through a couple of choices for me before I quickly decided on watching Conan Without Borders (Conan O'Brien). You get to wear headphones and watch Netflix on a screen right in front of you as you're lying down, Dentist fists deep in your mouth!! Crazy, right? And she didn't get mad when at one point, I was laughing at the show, and she had to pause her work. I will be bringing my toddler daughter here because Dr. Vicente and Lily are so great! read more

Dr. Vicente runs an extremely professional practice - with a "family-like" approach! My mouth is/was a wreck.... and she is gently coaxing me to fix the problems, which I am doing..... but I am taking my time... Her techniques for dealing my dental problems are with the least amount of discomfort one could expect! I have tinnitus, and when she learned of that she changed her cleaning technique. She helps me with my sensitive teeth with a pre-wash to numb me a little before she starts... (and has recommended products to help me with that) All in all, she is among the best general practitioners I have ever had the good fortune to find, If you are reading this and have not figured it out yet, I would recommend her services without hesitation to anyone...... My wife and I have been going here for several years. I grew up with a fear of dentists due to a uncarrying, painful dentist as a child. Through my lifetime I have been scared of dental treatment, but Dr. Vicente is very gentle and carrying. She has really relaxed my fears. She gives honest advice, and the prices have been reasonable. My wife and I highly recommend Bella Smiles and their staff. read more

I went on the search for a new dentist after TWO horrible experiences in San Diego. I had a very painful broken front tooth and they were able to get me in the very next day! The receptionist and the hygienist were both so nice and gentle and then Dr. Vincente was AMAZING! When she went to numb my tooth I didnt even feel the needle! The entire root canal was a breeze and they let me pick a movie to watch to take my mind off it! This was the best dental experience I have ever had without a doubt and Im sticking with these guys! read more

Dr. Vicente and her staff are awesome! My family and I have been coming to Bella Smiles for our dental needs for over ten years. Their office is very tidy and clean which is a good indicator that they care about the comfort of their patients. Every procedure I had with Dr. Vicente has been a great experience. She takes her time and checks in if anything feels off. When I had a cavity, she even put on Netflix to help distract me from the drilling! I am a military spouse so whenever anyone is looking for a dentist, I always recommend them. They take tricare ! read more

Experience here was just ok. Drove right past the place, the location is a bit odd. Front desk staff was friendly, my appointment was on-time. Dentist gave me a cleaning herself, but I've had better cleanings in my life. She definitely gave me the impression she knows what she is doing and talking about - but her people skills could be improved. I will go back, but won't expect anyone there to calm my nerves... I'll have to figure that one out myself. Hoping for a friendlier experience next time. read more

Did bunch of work done on my teeth at Bella Smiles wishing a 31/2 stars was one of the options. The things I liked about the office is that the staff is it was very close to my home, friendly and one more important thing to me is that they are open every other Saturday. The things I didn't really like is that the Doctor didn't seem very friendly when I was concerned about what was getting done and asked more than one question " I needed her clarify things for me" she didn't seem happy about it at all and made me feel uncomfortable. When we agreed on a price and at my last visit I finally paid for everything which was confirmed by the secretary in a week or two I get a bill saying I need to pay more, when I call the person who I need to speak to is not there so I find out the time she should be there next day and when I show she have just left again so I decide to pay it anyway and ask the staff to leave a note for the secretary asking her to call me back and explain the changes and no one ever called me back, needless to say I never went back nor do I plan to. read more

Been going to Dr. Vicente for around four years now. Appointment availability never seems to be a problem and you get convenient text reminders of your appointment a few days prior. I go here for my bi-annual cleanings and have had some cavities filled. The doctor has a gentle touch that makes the cleanings feel as though no one is even in your mouth (thats what she said). Another thing that I love is her ability to give shots with virtually no pain. She vibrates your lip as the needle is going in and you dont feel a thing. Overall the experience is professional, timely, and comfortable. read more

Having moved to SD about 1 year ago and having some experiences that went from mediocre to sad, I checked out Bella Smiles. My experience is quite extensive, my Mother was a dental nurse and my Uncle was a dentist. So my reaction after the experience is one of shock, in a good way. You start with Office manager, Viry, pleasant, knowledgeable and courteous. However the best part is when you work with the dental staff, Dr Maribel Vicente is very compassionate, you hear first what is going to happen, skill is terrific and her assistants, well is like a well oiled machine. Always I had the feeling that they are concerned about the patient, doing the best job for him/her. The equipment is state of the art and the way that the Dental assistant, Lilly and Dr Vicente interact, you have a comforting reaction. Incidentally, they do not 'pay off' for writing reviews. a former dentist gives you free whitening stuff for yelp reviews. All this office gives is a fabulous experience. Ira W read more

On my first appointment, Dr. Vicente told me, with a wave of her hand, that I needed a "filling". I am older and have not had fillings for years, so I was surprised. What I thought was a simple filling turned out to be removal and replacement of a large silver filling - a long, uncomfortable ordeal, during which she destroyed the tooth which now needs a crown. She did not adequately inform me about the extent of the work or the risks. Not sure why I went back, but I did and she told me I needed another "filling". Needless to say, I will never go back. read more

I have been going to Dr. Vicente for over 5 years. They are always on time. Has a great technique to numb the area, and you do not feel the needle. Recently had a crown replaced, and it was painless and fit right the first time. No having to go back to have it adjusted as I have experienced with other dentists in the past. Very friendly office. read more

Called my insurance and this Dr. was listed as a privider. Needed an emergency procedure...for a broken tooth. I waited for 35 minutes on the chair before the dentist walked over from what seemed like the wall. I could hear all of the work and conversation that she was having with the other patient because they have this weird open plan office. After trying to sell me on a more expensive option for my work she tells me that she doesn't have time to do the work but she can get the work written up and sent to my insurance for approval. I was dumbfounded. Why would they have scheduled an appointment if they didn't have any time to carryout the work and why would you make me wait on a chair to tell me that?! She then proceeded to walk away and started to work on another patient so that her staff could submit a request to my insurance and send me on my way with a broken tooth!! Will never ever go back and will contact my insurance company to complain! Lucky for me I found another dentist willing to repair the tooth temporarily and go back when I could go after work!! read more
