Finding a new dentist when you move is hard, y'all. I moved from Las Vegas late last year and my dentist there was meh, but I rolled with it as they were close to where I lived. I vowed to find a great dental office in San Diego once I got into town and I found that office in La Mesa Dental. From the moment I requested an appointment, everything has been smooth sailing. The staff is very friendly and easy to talk to, the cleanings are comfortable and the person performing the cleaning is thorough and makes sure you are comfortable. The dentists are nice and welcome questions. I cannot find any fault in this office and I love coming here so much that I wish I could come more often, but *knock on wood* my mouth health is pretty good. I am so happy yo have found this office! The whole staff is friendly, the office clean, well organized and I had a very short wait time. One of the best parts of my experience, was finding Dr. Abby. During my exam, she was so warm and kind. After the exam, she patiently explained her findings (a very good teacher, I might add), she took time for my questions and concerns. I have been going here for more than a few years, and I am happy with my experiences there. I initially went there because they were open more days of the week and longer hours than my previous famiky run dentist. While it doesn't have the feel of a small dentist-owned family business, I think they do a good job. Everyone is always friendly, from the fromt desk to the hygienists and dentists. From the outside it may seem like a all building but they have dozens of treatment rooms inside. They are less of a room and more like stalls, but still spacious enough. It does make for a loud environment, but that doesn't bother me. They seem to have a huge staff of rotating people, it's rare that I run into the same hygienist twice, and that even applies sometimes to the dentist. The hygienists are very good at what they do...one of them identified the early signs of a dying tooth root before anyone, even the dentists. They seem to have a handle on current technology, I have had a lot of cavities in my life, but this place uses a laser technique that doesn't need any numbing shots, a huge difference! Hard to get an appointment short notice, but you can add your name to a waitlist. Or just wait until their earliest appointment. read more

My husband and I have been La Mesa Dental clients for over 20 years. The staff is exceptional which is why although we moved a longer drive away we stayed with this team. Over the years whenever we needed treatments or referrals the team worked fast and got insurance approval detailing and explaining clearly all that is needed. The hygienist are THE BEST! Today I saw Dr. Stuardo with my daughter. He was attentive, patient, caring. He took the time to listen to me and my daughter, addressed our concerns, reassured us and gave several treatment options, not pushing an optional procedure. Let me start by saying 5 stars for the doctor. She was great. The office manager is the problem. I told the doctor that I didn't want to do the deep cleaning and she said it was ok to schedule for a regular cleaning. However, when I called to schedule, the office manager overrode the doctor and refused to schedule me for a regular cleaning. It certainly doesn't instill much trust in an office where the office manager makes the decisions and thinks she knows more than a highly skilled dentist. read more

From the receptionist to the dentist (Dr. Vu) and dental hygienist (Anna), it felt like I was interacting with old friends from the moment I walked in. I've been to a lot of doctors and dentists and never had such a terrible experience as I had here. After finding a cavity at my exam, I came in for a filling. The dentist assured me that the numbing needle would not hurt and felt like a slight pinch. That was the biggest understatement ever as it was very painful. Then he began drilling into my tooth. At which point I experienced the most excruciating pain I've ever felt. The pain was so bad tears were streaming down my face. He stopped and shoved another needle into my mouth as he obviously had not given me enough the first time. As he began drilling again, I was so terrified and upset by the pain I had felt I was literally sobbing with my mouth wide open and him drilling. As the tears streamed on my face and neither him nor his assistant made any efforts to check if I was OK or let me know how much longer the procedure would be. Instead, they had a fun chat about a fellow dentist they knew that worked out in her free time at her office. Casually commenting on how much weight she lifted and laughing while I lay there, sobbing as quietly as possible. I never understood why people were so traumatized by dentists but now I get it. I showed up for an appointment and politely requested to skip the X-rays, and instead do them at the next visit because I had just had a double chest X-ray at a recent doctors appointment. La Mesa Dental would NOT respect my wishes and allow me to make decisions about how much radiation is exposed to MY body. They said it was a requirement, and refused to give me a simple cleaning. I would not recommend this dentist. It seems they're only capable of following procedures and not able to respect the wishes of their patients. read more

The receptionist asked me if I was coming, and I replied "On my way" She said "okay" and then I proceeded to hang up. 5 minutes later, around 15 minutes after my appointment, she called me back and asked if I made it, I said no again. She then stated that I said I was in the parking lot (I never did). I replied telling her I said I was on my way. She then asked if I went to the wrong office. I say no because I already told her I'm on my way. A $50 cancellation fee when I'm less than two minutes away will not cut it for me. Besides that the dental work is great. I probably won't return. I would not take this as a deterrent to this dentistry, but I will say they may be a little money-hungry. My main problem is that when I received the call they did not tell me they were going to cancel my trip if I was late. (Would have turned around right away) Once again not trying to spread hate, just an irritating experience. read more

Dr. Vu did an amazing job with my root canal. I had been dragging my feet on quite a bit of work including two root canals, crowns and a couple of fillings before coming to their office. It's easy to procrastinate when all of the recommended procedures are presented to you as a long, pricey, intimidating list. Instead, Dr. Vu and the staff summarized everything for me but they also broke all of my work down into several manageable steps, prioritizing what was most time sensitive. This made it much easier to budget and plan for the work. I've also had work done by Dr. Low and of course, a number of hygienists whose names I wish I could remember. Not only have they all been extremely professional but friendly and personable, as well. It really takes the edge off something that most of us would rather not have to do. read more

My new favorite place now! I've found them on yelp looking to get a second opinion on my tooth issue. The reviews were great so I scheduled an appointment. They are as friendly and great as other reviewers said. I followed Doctor Wu's advise on what should be done with my tooth and she did amazing job. I also scheduled my 2 teeth clean sessions. Didn't remember my dental hygienists names but they both were very thorough, professional and friendly. So are the ladies at the front desk. If you have an appointment you are in very quickly. I highly recommend la Mesa dental! I actually enjoy my appointments and the staff seem very genuinely happy. The dental office is very clean and although it's small, patients are helped promptly. Everyone really tries to make it enjoyable. They have up to date technology and the staff are experienced and professional. I'd recommend parking on the street because the parking area is tight. WOW - I had such a pleasant experience at LMD! I was looking for a dentist in the area for a cleaning, so I perused my options and chose La Mesa because I had some friends who had visited in the past, and it did not disappoint. I'm always nervous at the dentist, but I was greeted with such a friendly front desk that eased my anxiety. They got my insurance info squared away quickly and had me in with no issues. As for the cleaning itself - I couldn't have asked for a better one! My hygeniest's bedside manner was fantastic. She asked thoughtful questions and didn't try to impose any additional care on me. It was a reasonable price too, so I would overall highly recommend! My teeth are nice and clean with no pain, which is even better. Definitely keeping La Mesa for future visits! This profit-driven establishment prioritizes money over providing genuine & caring services to those in need of dental treatment. Although most of the guest services staff was indeed hospitable & genuinely kind, I felt that Rob Low and his disposable band of proclaimed Dentists were apathetic, condescending, and generally disrespectful to me. May I suggest that some basic courses in Hospitality/Customer service would definitely help with meeting your desired profit margins. Needless to say I will not be returning here. read more

The dentist, Dr. Low is awesome. Nice, very knowledgeable, and personable. The assistant was great. The reception staff are horrible. Rude, to the point of madness over masks. My kid sat in chair getting work done, maskless, for almost an hour then was told it is inconsiderate to stand in common area, with no one around in front of masked receptionist who is behind glass! I have been going to this office for a while now and came in today because my crown chipped. Everything was good until Anessa (the person in charge of billing) stopped all work over insurance issues. I agreed to pay for the entire bill regardless if insurance covered it or not. It is sad that this office cares more about money then the care of there patience. I went to La Mesa Dental a little nervous, because I have been switching dentists recently and the one I tried previous to them was awful. However, I was extremely happy with La Mesa dental. During the x-rays you can see all the images on the screen in front of you, which is interesting and they explain what you're seeing as well. I ended up having a cavity, which I had assumed and why I made the appointment. Dr. Vu did an amazing job. She remembered me from checking out my x-rays and tried to make me feel comfortable by talking about a common interest. She also asked if I feel comfortable with the numbing (I definitely did!). She did a great job with the numbing and tried to distract me from the small pinch then as well. During the process she told me to lift my hand if I felt any discomfort and when I wouldn't would check on me in the middle. I never felt any discomfort at all. She did an amazing job and I'll definitely be coming back here because of her. read more
