It was a natural progression, therefore, for me to entrust my dental health to him when he established his own practice a few years later--a decision I have never once regretted. Dr. O'Brien embodies an unwavering integrity and a profound ethical compass that shines through in every aspect of his professional life. His philosophy is unequivocally patient-centric, prioritizing conservative and truly essential treatments. He operates with a steadfast commitment to only performing critical procedures, consistently seeking the least invasive yet most effective solutions to preserve and enhance his patients' oral health. This dedication is evident to anyone fortunate enough to be under his care; he demystifies complex procedures, employing advanced imaging to visually elucidate diagnoses, meticulously outlining comprehensive treatment plans, and proudly showcasing the impeccable results of his work. His precision is second to none--no detail is overlooked, no shortcut taken. Whether it's meticulously adjusting a bite after a filling or ensuring the margins of a crown are near perfection, his commitment to enduring quality is absolute. Beyond his formidable clinical skills, Dr. O'Brien possesses an exceptional chairside manner. His genuine warmth and delightful sense of humor transform what can often be an anxious experience into a remarkably pleasant one. He truly goes the extra mile --not just in treatment but also in fostering an environment where patients feel heard, understood, and genuinely cared for. Having dedicated years to the San Diego dental community and collaborated with well over 100 practitioners, I can confidently state that Dr. O'Brien stands among a very select few whom I implicitly trust. The excellence of Dr. O'Brien's practice extends seamlessly to his entire team, a group of individuals who are incredibly gracious, caring, thoughtful, helpful, and hardworking. Louella, the Office Manager, is not only exceptionally proficient but also deeply compassionate. Her dedication to patient advocacy shines through her meticulous handling of treatment coordination, insurance navigation, and transparent financial guidance. Her expertise ensures clarity and peace of mind regarding financial aspects, consistently delivering accurate and fair out-of-pocket estimates. Similarly, Cheryl consistently brightens the office environment with her infectious positivity and unwavering empathy, contributing significantly to the practice's welcoming atmosphere. Appointments are easy to get, their schedule is very accommodating and the best part is - you get a rose when you leave!! :) It can be hectic getting in all of your Dr appts while working so for your convenience they have snacks and drinks for you in the lobby as well as freshly baked cookies (sounds contradicting, I know) for you to take on your way out. I believe they also have BBQ Friday's during the summer where they have hot dogs with all the fix-ins. They make the "not so pleasant" procedures tolerable, almost pleasant. I've been recommending them to everyone I know. My only gripe is that the service can be slooooow. I guess its because they give everyone personalized attention. Dont expect to squeeze in a cleaning or visit during your lunch hour.

They keep a fridge stocked with drinks and juices. Fresh baked cookies and fresh roses EVERY TIME! I always had bad experiences with my previous dentist. Total opposite here. My hygienist is Kathleen, she is the most gentle, sweetest person who could ever mess with your teeth! I never had a cavity until recently so I was super nervous about the filling procedure, specially the injection. Didn't feel a thing, I thought that was impossible. They do everything to keep you as comfy as possible: memory foam pillow, warm blanket, comfy chair, headphones and cable tv right above your head so you can watch as you get work done. No complaints here!

I have some crown work to be addressed due to an over zealous dentist in the past. You know... if your dental insurance is too good you all of a sudden need major dental work... if not so good you have a cavity. Dr. Kashani did his exam, reviewed the x-rays and did the right thing. He did not for one second try to upsell me or pressure me into work that didn't need to be done. I trust him to put my dental health above the next medical claim. If you are looking for a great dentist... look no further.

SUMMARY: This is a classic, low-key dental office that doesn't try to up-sell you expensive tests…read moreand procedures. The doctor's skills are top-notch. MY HISTORY: In 2017 I was growing tired of my local dentist who had purchased expensive diagnostic machines and was "paying them off" by up-selling me and charging additional for using the machines. So I put the word out to friends by email with the question "Do you love your dentist? Why?" and one friend Charlie came back with: "Yes, I do. KA Kashani dds coast dental care. Office is [humble] but he won't rip you off or make more work for himself like other offices do." MY EXPERIENCE: Yes indeed, these past eight years have been great. Common phrases by Dr Kashani are "let's keep an eye on it", and "if it's not broken why fix it?" and "we don't want to be drill happy" WHY I LOVE IT: he's not trying to up-sell me! His classic office has the basics, and he is open and honest with comments like "if you need a root canal I will refer you". He's re-glued old crowns a couple of times for me. DOES THE DOCTOR KNOW WHAT HE'S DOING? I can certify YES and here is why: for years we were "just keeping an eye" on a dodgy old crown which had a little crack in it. So a doubt might have crept in, "does he know what he's doing? He never seems to do anything other than look at xrays and clean my teeth" Then finally the crown broke, and Dr Kashani WENT INTO ACTION! It took 4 visits (initial diagnosis, making a mold of the tooth, first fitting wasn't perfect, and then finally new crown was fitted) and here is what I learned: Dr Kashani is an experienced expert dentist. When it's time to go into action, he gets the job done. And BEST OF ALL: When the new crown first came back from the lab it was not perfect, with a tiny gap, and although he left the decision to me, he recommended sending it back to get it perfect, to "avoid problems down the road". I wholeheartedly agreed, and appreciated his making sure it was right for the long run. Sure, I had to make another visit, but I love visiting Coast Dental! WENDY: She's the usual dental assistant / hygienist. Always kind and happy, it's a joy to have her work on me. ROSA: The normal receptionist when I go on Wednesdays. Her telephone calls the day before to remind me of my appointments are greatly appreciated. Usually I already remembered, but sometimes (like last time) I had totally forgot! CONCLUSION: Want a classic well-trained and highly-experienced dentist who won't try to rip you off? Coast Dental and Dr Kashani is an excellent choice.

AMAZING! This is…read morethe best word I can use! Dr Gray is the most pleasant and considerate dentist I have ever met. His team from the dental hygienists to the specialty staff including Carla and Betty and all of the wonderful people that work there are so calming and make you feel like you are truly the only patient they have in the office that day. Dr Gray has been our dentist for many many years and then we needed more extensive work done. Our son needed implants and he treated him like he was his own son. It was so reassuring. Then i needed some work done and recognizing I have a very low tolerance for pain the team educated me on sedation and it was the perfect solution for me. Dr Gray even texts you in the evening of your procedure to see how you are feeling - what a great customer service from a dentist. And to tell you they have the best front office person does not seem enough. Robert is so friendly and always has a smile on his face. He recognizes everyone when they walk in the door and says hello by their name. So wonderful! If you need a dentist for a child to grandma, Dr. Gray and his team are there for you. They truly make going to the dentist the best it can possibly be. It is the "little" things like coffee and water in the lobby to the toothbrush package when you leave to the hugs when you are down or scared - they have it all. Thank you team for being the absolute best. They are now a part of our extended family although they may not know that yet. Lol. We will never go anywhere else.

Good work.Love the staff. More recently, I went in for a check up and had he said the rear, upper molar had to be removed. It wasn't giving me an issue. He said it was pretty loose.it didn't feel loose and no nerve issues. Nothing.I trusted him. I let him know I had surgery the day after next. He said that was fine. I was leery, but he said it wouldn't be a problem.I had waited 3 months for the surgery date and was in pain,I didn't want to screw it up. For 45 minutes he worked away at it.I had a migraine that would not stop.I hadn't had 1 in years. He was upset bc he was behind on schedule. He stopped & went 2 c other patients then came back and gave me more shots. He'd been trying to rush through it, so that meant less pain shots,I was making a lot of noise.I'd never felt pain on any of the other root canals he'd given me.He was stressed. He'd said something to his assistant about how it had been 45m & had a stressed tone.It wasn't very caring about how I was feeling under the drill. I had tears coming down my cheeks,I had 2 keep demanding more numbing shots, something I'd never had to do before. I was in so much pain. That tooth had been solid-that's why it took so long to come out. I was going into surgery in something like 30 hrs, so I wouldn't be able to get any dental surgery done for a while because I had to be off my knee replacement for months. Knowing that, he should have just not done anything at all. It was not hurting. So I left with a deep,wide-open hole in my gum. Went home, took migraine medication and went to sleep. Next day the migraine was still pounding and my face hurt.I kept the lights out and stayed in bed. My husband made me soup for dinner and I went back to sleep. I'd been in so much pain before and in the morning. We got up at 3:30 to arrive at 5:45 preop. I didn't put on makeup and was too frantic to even look in a mirror. It was still dark when we left. The doctor dropped in to see me before surgery. He asked if everything was okay at home.I didn't understand what he was talking about. My hair covers my eye over right cheek (under Gray had been working on my tooth), the device 2 keep mouth open was pinching pretty bad.I let him know, but nothing changed. It was so unlike any treatment I'd received before from Dr. Gray, who was always asking if I was comfortable. The surgeon explained I had a black eye. I was shocked and explained I had tooth surgery.I went to look in a mirror,it was angry green, blue and black. My mouth was hurting a great deal, not ideal for surgery.I shouldn't have had the tooth removed with a major surgery right on top of it. I had a huge gaping hole in my moth for many months, having to clean out the food that got in. That tooth should have never come out. Espire, a company that sends spam to any patient who has an email-do not give them an email!I had to keep calling them and telling the office to remove my email every month. It's all about marketing & getting you back in the chair w/Espire.I loathed the birthday/holiday notices they kept sending to my family-why do we care (that not even Dr. Gray, but Espire wishes us a happy birthday?). They were sending my 81-year-old mother notices - my mother had major work done on her teeth with Dr. Gray. It was tens of thousands of dollars and she was so happy with the result. She was thrilled with Dr. Gray. I received a refund that they had overcharged her after her death. Unfortunately, Dr. Gray's office has always had an issue with overcharging and I had to keep following up to get money back, they'd always say it was the insurance company.I'd have to pull the insurance company into it to get the money back.I always spent more time trying to get money back than time in the chair. It was frustrating. But, Dr. Gray was worth it. I spoke with someone who knows about Espire who says they increase the number of patients (one of the draws of belonging to the network is they have a ton of $ to put into Internet advertising, but Espire gets a lot of $).I think the relationship encourages a quota-like system. I trusted Dr. Gray.I never had that tooth replaced because I just can't go through finding another dentist at this time, though my jaw still hurts. Personally,I believe this happened because of their affiliation with Espire. It was busier than I ever saw. Seats full, lobby busy.No time to take time.I'd never seen him so stressed. When I do find another dentist, it won't be with an office affiliated with Espire.
