Absolutely Perfect in all ways. It really takes a lot for me to say something is perfect because I've been in the restaurant business for many years. My family owned a well-known restaurant in Providence RI for years called Alfredo's. So we came here last night, Saturday on the recommendation from someone my mother knows. As soon as we walked in, we were greeted at the door by the maitre'd. We felt welcomed. We were then seated at a table in the main dining room. It was clean and classy. We had a wonderful waiter named Velat. He was very courteous, professional and knowledgeable. He was also very attentive. He gave us world-class service because he cleared plates and made sure that the bread and the water was filled and removed old silverware and replaced them. We had an eggplant appetizer along with stuffed mushrooms. I also had a Caprice mozzarella salad that I shared with a friend of mine. Then came the salads, they were delicious, cold and fresh. I liked that the blue cheese dressing was homemade and you could tell by the taste. I had the chicken parmesan with ziti. The food was excellent. The chicken was very tender. When we were finished with dinner he brought the dessert tray with many of the desserts made in-house. Although we didn't get the dessert because we were going home to a birthday party. One day you might find yourself in the Witness Protection Program, and then relocated to a small village in Rhode Island called Glendale RI. It's just the kind of place that you might suspect as a place no one would ever think to look for you. The Witness Protection Program notwithstanding you would be lucky to be located in Glendale because in this village basically in the middle of nowhere, there is a restaurant called Bella. At first, you might drive right by this place discounting it as something less than it is. But when you drive around front, you'll see a very nice patio, a main entrance and an entrance to their banquet facility. That's right! I said banquet facility in Glendale RI. So luckily for me I have avoided the witness protection program but in doing so I have also avoided any knowledge of this place until just recently. I can tell you that's a point of great sadness for me because on my first visit there I realized that this little hidden gem is something that I could have been taking advantage of for a fairly long time In terms of ambiance the place is well appointed both inside and out. It's comfortable and boldly says Italian restaurant. The front of the house is staffed with what appears to be experienced and knowledgeable people, from the bussers, to the food runners, to the servers and the floor managers. You can tell that the owners of this establishment have spent some time training this staff in the excellence of customer service. I don't want to name names because I'll leave someone out. I want to say that everyone that we encountered on the entire front-of-house staff work together to make sure that every diner got what they needed or wanted at the exact time they needed or wanted it. The dining room was a ballet of people rushing in and out of the kitchen and regardless of whether they were designated as your server or not, as they passed by you they unhurriedly asked do you have everything you need, how is everything, etcetera It seemed to me that Bella's kitchen is as close to scratch kitchen as you can get. They have a small host of salad dressings all which are made in house. More than half of the desserts are made in house, even the butter for the bread is concocted in house. If you're going to an Italian restaurant, the measurement, in my opinion, of whether they understand their mission is the red sauce that they serve. It should be RED, not maroon. It should be light and a little chunky. Most of all it should complement the pasta, not smother it. I am going to say that the pomodoro sauce (aka Marinara) that was on my dinner ranks amongst the three best red sauces I've ever eaten in a restaurant. I was impressed by the answers when I asked the same 2 questions, I always ask when I'm considering ordering eggplant. First question, I always ask is the skin on the eggplant and the second question is, is the eggplant breaded. I am of the opinion that there should be no skin on an eggplant when it's served and there is no reason to add bread crumbs on eggplant. The server's answer was: there is no skin and yes there is bread crumbs on it. But that doesn't matter, how do you want it. I said well I would like it to be peeled and then dipped in some flour some seasoned egg and pan fried and then stacked into eggplant parm. That's exactly what I got, The most delicious thinly sliced eggplant so lightly battered and fried, it wasn't oily it wasn't heavy, it wasn't a greasy pyramid and unlike many places in Rhode Island you could actually taste the eggplant which was undoubtedly fresh and delicious. It came with enough pasta. I'm sure you're asking what that means. This is my new measurement of serving size. It is enough if I eat half the eggplant and half the pasta was left, then it's enough. If I eat all the eggplant and none of the pasta is left then it wasn't enough if I eat all the eggplant and a ton of pasta was left then it was too much. As far as the bar is concerned, I drink a very simple drink it's vodka, lime and ice in a shaker. Shake the ever-loving daylights out of it pour it in a rocks glass. I'm telling you only one or two out of 10 restaurants get it right and Bella's is one. Here's the rundown. The food is well above average, exceptional even. The bar is right on point. The service is fast, friendly and inviting. The surroundings are nice, clean and exactly what you want in an Italian restaurant. The prices are well below the "downtown" prices in Providence. Bella does not have a web-based reservation ability, just call them any time, leave a message, and someone will get right back to you. I know what you're thinking but it worked really well! Oh, one last thing. When you see him, tell Giuseppi the owner and dining room ambassador, that it's okay that he's Sicilian, we can just pretend that he's Italian. (If you know, you know.) We absolutely loved Bella Restaurant. We made reservations for Fathers Day and was greeted by the stay in such a warm and inviting way. Our server, Joe, was incredible!!! I wish I could give this place 100 stars and not just 5. First order of business was my special request to accommodate the food allergies I have and my vegan diet plan. He helped me create the most delicious pasta dish minus all the allergens. Penne with roasted peppers, hot banana peppers, and Kalamata olives. Fantastic! More than I expected. He accommodated all of my needs. He was constantly returning to our table to inquire about any needs we may have had and if we were satisfied. What a treasure of an employee! He worked at Bella for 18 years. He's so skilled. The owner, Giuseppe, came over to our table yo make sure we had everything we needed and if we were satisfied. He was such a class act. The food and the desserts were incredible! My Dad loved the family style Sunday dinner. It was just like our Italian family recipe. The chicken was so crispy and moist. The roast beef was tender. The pasta had the real deal Italian sauce. Delicious! Just prior to leaving the restaurant, I had to go over to Giuseppe to commend him for running such a wonderful establishment. I enjoyed Bella's which was off the beaten path. The staff was incredibly friendly, we sat at the bar and Kylie made us feel welcomed, and was incredibly educated about their food and drink menu. She helped us pick out the best drink and lunch combo! My husband had the family style dinner and I had the chicken parm. My real only complaint was everything needed salt. We didn't make it far into the dining room, so I don't have much to report, but it the inside seemed very 90s Italian. A bit dated but still comfortable! Outstanding dinner at Bella's tonight. Food, service & atmosphere were simply perfect. My wife started with a Caprese Salad which she loved with fresh local tomatoes. I started off with two meatballs and Ceaser Salad. Both were delicious. For dinner I had a wonderful Baked Stuffed Shrimp with a Ritz Cracker stuffing. I made the mistake of not getting a side of pasta instead of the mashed potatoes with veggies as a side though. My wife had Gnocchi which she also enjoyed. We were having a such a wonderful time we both got dessert. I had Carrot Cake and my wife got the Lemon Cheesecake which were both delicious. We attended a family gathering here a bit ago and were sitting in a semi private area with dedicated wait staff. The servers were very friendly and attentive. We had a pre selected menu that was at each of our seats. The apps were calamari and bruschetta which were both very good. We had the choice of salad. The caprese salad was a large serving and very fresh. We had a choice of multiple dishes for dinner. Portions were large so you could have a good meal to take home for later! You cannot beat the service there. When you see the same staff for years, that says a lot about the ownership and how they treat them. We sat in the enclave near the bar. Nice ambiance there with the window. I couldn't stop eating the bread with the spicy oil. The calamari was nice and crispy the way I like it. First of all this is not our first visit to Bella. The wait server Steve was great, fast and knowledgeable. This time we had Watermelon Sangria! Absolutely delicious, I requested mine with our seltzer water and it was great! We went on a Thursday and they have a special of Chicken & Roast Beef,with ziti pasta, roasted potatoes, salad served family style. The bread is perfect dipped in oil with balsamic vinegar. The outside of the restaurant does not do justice to the inside. We felt a little under dressed even though the waiter said not at all. The staff were very friendly and very quick, and there were a good amount of servers on staff. The food was delicious, awesome local Italian option! Since I hate reading reviews 5 paragraphs long when all I want to know is how the food, atmosphere, drinks, etc. were, I'm going to write my reviews a bit differently. I only wish more than 4 were per serving Funghi Ripiene - Amazing - Crabmeat not overpowering which was a win for me as I'm not a huge fan of it. Prime Rib (All you can eat)- Cooked to perfection, not only mine but the other 3 who also ordered this and took seconds, I'm regretting not requesting another myself now. Wow! Service was immaculate, Josh was our server. He was as attentive, personable, patient and just all around awesome. They bring some yummy bread to your table and some olive oil for starters. We then ordered the calamari, it was lightly breaded with great flavor and the perfect texture. Their Caesar salad is so great hands-down, one of the best ones in Rhode Island (besides stadium pub) They also give you the option of having anchovies in your salad. I think it balances it perfectly since the Caesar dressing is rich and the saltinesses adds something very nice to it. The main course however, speechless. The Gamberi Cardinale is officially my favorite pasta, I got it with the linguini. I have had some terrific meals here. The Italian dishes or chicken dinners were good. Unfortunately my experience on Mother's Day was less than stellar. Waited at our table for 20 minutes before our server even came to ask about drinks. I wont go into the whole thing, but suffice to say, the service that day was lacking. Now, onto the meal. The prime rib was thin and yet one if our party had it so undercooked it was not good. Couldn't/wouldn't send it back ( see service comment). If they couldn't accomodate folks I would understand. However it could have been a little crispier. The family Sunday dinner was definitely worth it. The roast beef was sliced nice and thin and the chicken was moist. It came with baked potatoes, salad, macaroni, and bread. Eat top notch food until you can't eat anymore. The Pistachio cake to end was the best end to the chapter. one thing to note that the soda is not all you can drink - 3$ per glass. What can I say, this restaurant is basically in our backyard and we just tired it for the first time a few weeks ago. I worked in the restaurant industry for many years and I have to say this was one of the best if not the best experience my husband and I have had out to eat. Our waiter Frankie was absolutely spectacular and made us feel like family and regulars right away. The food was delicious! We had squash flowers for an appetizer, best I have ever had! We both got specials for entires recommended by Frankie and they did not disappoint. Swordfish and the most scrumptious pork chop I've ever tasted. Dessert was absolutely phenomenal as well. I never knew this was here...let alone that there was a Glendale, RI lol, but I am glad I got the experience. We came here for my boyfriends birthday and it was definitely an experience. For the atmosphere, food and portion size, I would say they are definitely moderate and competitive in pricing, its even arguable that its very affordable considering all the factors. Our server was great even though I thought that the whole dinner was completely drawn out, I think we were there for close to 3-4 hours. We ordered 2 of the sampler appetizers and then I ordered the Vitella Courvoiser; a veal dish with artichokes, mushrooms and roasted red peppers smothered in a sweet cream sauce. While it was very good with a generous amount of veal, I thought it was too sweet for a dinner and it could of used something to balance it like some heat but besides that, it was even better the second day. The sampler appetizer, was a little less impressive but I liked the options that it came with. I spent the evening drinking a passion fruit cocktail, switching to a tiramisu martini for dessert. I still have a say that after dining here over the last 6 years that this restaurant has been very consistent and I always leave very content after dining here. I do think they've gotten better with their ayce prime rib on sundays. So I started with the app special which was the Oysters Rockefeller l. Really nice large oysters, 1 of the better versions I've tried. 5 to the order for $19.00 I almost had to order a second order. Almost had to give 1 up to my daughter but she want me to strip the toppings off the oyster so I wasn't going to waste it and finished it myself. I had no complaints on the additional cuts of prime rib this Sunday. I've had in the past where the cuts was much smaller or from a totally different piece of meat, more like roast beef. The ayce roasted chicken looked good as well This all comes with a salad, oven roasted potatoes and vegetables or pasta. I'll start with service.....all of the wait staff (not just your personal waiter) were very attentive, helpful, friendly, and on point. My wife and I had 2 appetizers ,wings (odd special but worthy) were outstanding, and stuffed mushroom caps as well. We had chicken parmesean and little necks in white sauce with penne. Red sauce was so fresh that it was fantastic. Little necks were nicely cooked and flavorful. Dessert was a great tiramisu and chocolate lava cake. Only minor complaint for MY personal preference, was pasta was al dente and I prefer a little more well done...I'm sure they'd be happy to oblige had I asked. This is definitely one of Rhode Island's hidden gems Italian restaurant's. The food is so great I put it on par with the Capital Grill!!! If that doesn't catch your attention---what will? Since a close friend of mine moved about 10 minutes away from Bella- I have been here about 10 times over the last few months and EVERY SINGLE TIME my meal and the service was nothing short of AMAZING! This is a PERFECT example of a restaurant with excellent customer service that is most likely a result of good management. Every time I've come here I'm treated as though it's my first time. The waiters are all amazing & I believe the gentlemen who usually serves as a host and seats us-is either the owner or manager, but he's always extremely pleasant and even remembered myself & my young son Frankie who is always on his best behavior in restaurants- I've literally taken him everywhere! The last couple of delicious meals I've gotten were: pink penne alla vodka with chicken, chicken Parmesan, chicken piccata & alas the filet minon. They were all absolutely delicious! I also have to say that their gravy is PERFECT you can tell it's homemade and reminds me of my Italian Nonna's cooking!! I'm not sure why more people don't talk about this place but I've never gotten a bad meal from here and the portions are on the larger side as well. Heck- I've never gotten a meal that wasn't DELICIOUS- which says QUITE A LOT! I've also gotten Sangria (red & white) from here both of which were super tasty & the creme brûlée for dessert which again was great! It's like they can't make a bad meal, drink, dessert- or anything for that matter even if they tried! I also want to comment on the BREAD. The bread most traditional Italian restaurants offer complimentary to guests. The bread Bella makes is fresh & you can tell the person who made it- is an authentic Italian as you can't fake freshness or that authentic taste!! I also believe the last time I went here I got a fresh tomato and mozzarella salad & you could tell how fresh the mozzarella was! Everything here is FRESH & AUTHENTIC! Reminds me of when my Italian Nonna was alive & how she cooked for me- you can't replicate those authentic Italian flavors! The filet minōn is absolutely melt in your mouth amazing and you get to choose the sauce you prefer on top which adds to the already great flavor! This is definitely a place that if I could rate higher than 5 stars- I absolutely would!! The bread dipped in olive oil, roasted potatoes, and al dente pasta were all good. The salad with house dressing and the service FAR exceeded expectations for an affordable (about $17 pp) family style meal. Our server Josh was solid. We were a large group of extended family, and our lunch here was excellent in every way, including the way the table was organized for fourteen of us. It was really like one large square rather than two or three long tables that make it hard to talk to anyone except maybe the person across from you and the people on each side of you. This place is always fantastic. The service, food and decor is great. We were there for lunch/dinner. We were seated right away. There is also lots of parking. There is a bar inside if you are just looking to have a drink. We were a party of 5 and sat in the dining room. They brought out bread with oil and a garlic butter. I had the Oyster Rockefeller for an appetizer, it comes with 5 large oysters and they are amazing. I had a drink I think was called Bella's Passion and it was delicious, it came in a bronze pineapple cup. Everyone gets a salad and I had the house dressing which is so good. A co-worker and I shared 2 entrees, the lobster ravioli and a cod special. They were both cooked perfectly and the flavor was great. The cod dish was unique and came with asparagus as well. We also split a dessert at the end, the molten lava cake. It was too good, lol. Everything here was perfect, I highly recommend for a date night or dinner with friends. read more
