When the old owners ran the place it was amazing - high energy, friendly, and delicious!! Now yuck!! I think maybe they are trying to ride on the reputation of the old owners. Are American consumers fool? No, I don't think so. I will never go back to Bella. Just because they have a captive audience (due to proximity to Union County Courthouse) that doesn't give them a license to charge outrageous prices - $5 for a slice? Give me a break! Find another place to eat that's not serving bad pizza for outrageous prices....or better yet, bring your lunch with you or eat in the Courthouse cafeteria where they have more reasonable and honest prices. read more

The Professional service is --gone for good!!!! The ROMANCE is over !!!! ****** I've been taking a train to come down from Manhattan to Elizabeth to purchase Bella's food for years . There was a time last year I came once a day & ordered pasta equalling $40 + every time I placed an order .--Which was 4 , 5 X's a week . ******* That would qualify me as a really good customer.-( Do the math-$$$)...I NEVER complained -Ever! *** I'm very easy going . I hadn't been to Bella's in about 4 months due to my busy schedule. **** Today on Sunday July 20th I called to place my order as I boarded my train in NYC to arrive in Elizabeth about 6pm . A man answered & immediately put me on hold . 40 minutes later when I arrived in Elizabeth I was still on hold . This type of hold allowed me to hear the stores background noise of activity in real time . ******* I assumed it was very busy, understaffed & probably a bad day to place an order with them . ******* As I entered their store I was still on hold . The place was dead -( almost no customers at all!!) It Felt like it had been that way for quite some time . **** A man making pizza asked me if he could help me . I told him I was on hold waiting to place an order for 40 minutes. ************ He simply went back to flipping pizzas & ignored me . There was a woman I hadn't seen before on the phone who acted like she hadn't any idea how to operate or function properly as it was perhaps her first day on the job . ********** I sat at a table directly across from the register where the person on the phone was . The place was completely empty except for a man & his 2 children. **** He went up to pay & was received by a young man who addressed him but openly ignored me & seeing me never asked me for anything. ******** I dress in a suit for work & had been working all day too . I don't look poor or problematic that anyone would openly choose to avoid me . ********* My phone was still on & was on speaker mode . Before the kid rung up the customer for his 3 slices of pizza , he asked me to lower my phone volume. ********* I told him it's not me -( *the noise he heard was his own voice echoed in my phone on waiting) ******* He replied rudely , " It's not me " . I repeated & said it is you & showed him the phone . I said I've been on hold with you for 40 now 60 minutes. So it is you . ******** He pushed a button on his store phone & hung me up , then proceeded to tell me ," NOT ANYMORE! *********** ...... & returned ignoring me . ????!!!! Never once did he address me professionally & actually tried to inquire as to what I would like. ********** Never once did any of them ever apologize for the deplorable behavior to me . *********** But still why take it out on me . I've been a super loyal client for years, shelling in a lot of $$$ for the amount of times I've frequented there . ********** I'm not a pizza slice guy milking the establishment for everything they have for a lousy $3 like most of the customers I see there when I arrive . I pay big tickets and have enjoyed the opportunity to do so ! As the Service and food in the past warranted so!!! Not Anymore!!! ********* At the same time I don't expect any special treatment. This is a neighborhood place where the owner & the receptionist knew me by my first name on site . They knew me by voice on the phone & my (212) number . ********** But the way I was treated & snubbed without provocation was a bridge too far . To be so openly hostile and rude for no justifiable reason? *********** Either the persons I knew sold the business to someone else or they are seriously going down . To treat Anyone like that is totally unacceptable!!! ********** Needless to say I will never go there again. I would recommend clients going elsewhere!!Remember it would require trains to & fro equaling about 2 hours of commuting for this food . That's how committed over the years I've been to them . What a disappointment! I never ordered a sandwich from here before so I assumed it would be just as good as everything else. Wrong!!! The simple salami, ham & provolone hero was horrible. So I had some time to spare... and wanted pizza. This place was recommended to me by someone at the place I was at. This place is located on Broad street near the intersection with Elizabeth Ave. it's across from the Courthouse. Parking is probably a lil difficult unless you find street parking . And it's metered parking So i noticed they have a lot of specialty pizza. Usually means it's good and more expensive. I decided on the grandma slices. It's like a thinner version of silician.... and I love it It's extremely good pizza!!! Perfect crisp and fresh ingredients. For two grandma slices and a 20oz = 6 bucks Inside is comfortable. Food is amazing here. I usually always order the hot wings, I've put so many people on to this spot. However, I can't say the same about service. I placed an order for delivery and it took longer than usual. I called. The lady otp gave me an attitude saying that they had been trying to reach me when THEY got my phone number wrong, Then the delivery driver took another 30 minutes and had me meet her down my block due to traffic. She was nice enough to apologize to me. Once I got my order I saw they got it wrong. I was very disappointed, no one apologized no one took accountability, and I feel like I wasted my money and time. read more

All I have to say about this place is WOW! Amazing pizza. For the traditional slice, the cheese too sauce ratio is perfect and has an amazing crisp"crunch" that you would want. They heated both slices to perfection. If we were going on an Barstool pizza scale I'd have to give it a solid 9.4 the BBQ slice was also amazing, the chicken was crunchy and they did not over power the slice with BBQ, had a perfect combination! I stumbled upon Bella Pizza while looking for a place to grab a quick bite during lunch this past Friday. The pizzeria is conveniently located across the street from the UC Courthouse and a brisk walk away from Trinitas Hospital and various schools. Like most pizzerias, they serve everything from pizza and sandwiches to pasta and salads. Everyone here is also very friendly. Cheese Slice and Garlic Knots w/ Marinara: Both are good. The slices had plenty of cheese and a slightly crispy crust, while the garlic knots were certainly garlicky--more so than other places I've been to. I also like their marinara sauce; it's not too tangy, and I can taste the fresh basil that goes in it. I'm not sure I'll be back since I'm almost never in Elizabeth, but Bella Pizza is a solid lunch option if you happen to be in the area. They have plenty 4 and 5-star Google reviews, so they're clearly a local favorite. read more

Nowadays I feel like going to any pizza place I have not been to previously is a bit of a roll of the dice. Sometimes you are disappointed by tasteless food, other times you are pleasantly surprised. I am happy to report my visit to Bella Pizza resulted in the latter. Located in the municipal area of Elizabeth, there are plenty of shops mixed in with court houses and government buildings. While much of its decor is a classic Pizzeria layout (benches, faux wood tables, a glass case at the cashier station with plenty of pizzas on display etc.) everything here was clean and well organized. Nothing looked "old" or "worn out". These folks are clearly proud of their business. Bella specializes in pizzas with different types of toppings. Not just your typical ones like extra cheese or pepperoni, but also buffalo chicken and veggies. I ordered one plain slice (my "baseline slice") and one buffalo chicken slice. The slices are not quite as thick as a square slice, but they are a bit thicker than your average triangle slice. This makes them just big enough to pick up and eat without making a mess. The outer crust is firm and the inside is nice and chewy. The flavors on both slices were fantastic. I was really impressed with how the sauce balanced sweetness and saltiness (many sauces go way too far in one direction or the other). The Buffalo chicken had a slight kick to it as well. I look forward to my next visit to Bella Pizza. It is well worth the visit! read more

I grabbed lunch here while in Elizabeth for jury duty and I was pleasantly surprised. The slices were cheap and very good (I got one plain and one Sicilian). There's plenty of space inside to eat and they have a bunch of Stewart's sodas on hand. It's a decent place for a quick lunch and I'd recommend it to anyone who's around the area. My delivery took a long time the other day and I was kind of annoyed but the delivery driver was super nice and apologetic and his demeanor lessened my annoyance by a lot lol. An enormous array of pizzas from plain slices (not bad, medium crust) to cheese steak! Not extraordinary in the taste department. Service is fast but they twice ignored my request for a glass of water, Lots of cops and sheriffs officers as the courthouse is across the street. That means the prices are cheap. Came in here about 45 minutes before closing time. The service was okay but the waiting time for 2 slices were incredible. The guy that was making the pizza pie told us to wait about 10 minutes, and what was the most disgusting thing is that he kept touching his cellphone and making the pizza at the same time. There was about 10 people in there as well waiting for there slices to be ready and the people behind the counter kept on playing around. After about 10 minutes I told them the pizza was ready, but they wanted to leave it in there for longer. When our slices came out after 45 minutes of waiting the crust was too crunchy and every bite felt like u was chewing on a bread that was days old. The pie was very thin, but the amount of cheese was so much what the cheese would slide of the pie. Never again will I come to this place it's a waste of ur money and time. I love Bella Pizza the customer service was not it. Another instance is when I used the bathroom there was pee on the floor. I know it's there fault but unprofessional, the environment there was not the best. I love Bella Pizza and there food is the best. But the food was so expensive for one little soup it was 9$ back then it would be way more cheaper. LOVE!! This pizzeria is my absolute FAVORITE, hands down. I live more than 15 minutes away from here and there's never any parking on Broad St. in Elizabeth -- but this place makes it so worth it. I highly recommend their Margherita pizza and their BBQ pan pizza -- both are equally delicious. They always have a wide range of choices (perfect for spontaneous eats) and their prices are cheap for the quality of their food and service. Everyone there is very friendly and attentive when customers arrive. I came in here tonight on a whim, and was greeted by such a nice staff recommending a few options as I had never been there before. They recommended the penne vodka, so I went for it! It was delicious, and the sauce was the perfect consistency of creamy, but not too heavy. pasta al dente... nothing over cooked! The flavor was there.
