just discovered this restaurant and it is fantastic!! Brian and his team make great Italian food with passion and it is well worth checking them out.... I had the best Philly Cheesesteak EVER there recently (and I've had Gino's and Pat's!) The pizza's are fantastic and the toppings are both classic and innovative... I love this place because they know how to make pizza like downstate. The crust is thin, and their ratios (crust to sauce to cheese) are spot on. Also, their sauce is fabulous; I think it's made by God. Yeah, God. Service is always friendly (family run), and food is consistent. read more

I did not eat here, and nor would I based upon their rude attitude and bad...just absolutely terrible, customer service. Every once in a while, we like to make pizza at home, and we usually get our dough from the supermarket, but this time we thought we would try a local pizza place to get dough. I've done it before, and so figured we'd try this place to see how it was, as we had not been here before. We stopped in, on a snowy day, and while walking to the front door, my wife slipped and fell on untreated snow and ice...that sent shockwaves through her spine. She's still in pain several days later. But persevere we did...my wife, made mention of the ice to the girl at the counter, who was just rude and scoffed at the recommendation that they salt or sand the icy spot. [enter lawsuit in 3...2..1...]. For some reason, at that point, we still asked if we could buy two dough balls, and were met by a rude guy from the back (we presume the owner) who said they needed two days notice (for two (2) dough balls.....at a pizza place....) and that he couldn't sell us any; and we should just go to Hannaford across the street and get it. He was exceptionally rude, disrespectful and nasty about it...so we left. At that point, we weren't inclined to give them our money anyway based upon their poor attitude. As we left, we could hear the girl at the counter laugh and snicker, behind our backs. (On a side note, Brad's Pizza, just up the road was very happy to sell us the dough, and were kind, respectful and gained us as new customers, while Bella Mae...well, they should just close since they're obviously not interested in running a retail food establishment. Bella Mae's took over the former Jeff's Pizzeria III, located near the 4 Corners of West Sand Lake, which opened in April 2020. They offer traditional and specialty pizzas, pasta dinners, calzones, appetizers, salads, and grinders. The prices here seem reasonable. As for the eatery itself, the place is still going through transition (seems like stuff is still being moved inside), which is geared towards takeout and delivery only (most of Sand Lake and parts of Poestenkill, North Greenbush, East Greenbush & Schodack) and very limited parking on site. There are several picnic and metal tables outside next to the building. I stopped by recently for takeout around 4:15 PM, when the place had just opened. I ordered a 12" Cape Pizza ($12 plus tax) and was informed the pizza would be ready in 15-20 minutes. My pizza hot and ready and boxed in about 25 minutes since the bricks in the oven were still heating up (they started the oven around 2PM before the 4PM opening) and it's usually the first 2 pizzas which take a bit longer to bake. The Cape Pizza I had was topped with minced clams, chopped shrimp, scallops (instead of mussels described on menu), scampi sauce with lots of garlic and butter) and melted cheese on a thin soft crust, firm on the bottom (screen patterned). I believe I made the right choice for pizza, but I would like to try out their other pizzas such as the Mexican Pizza and The Sammi Pizza on future visits. read more

When they found out we were from minnesota, it was on. I had chicken parm and was very satisfied. Had a couple slices while we waited and they were solid. Son got square pie and was happy. Wife got the breaded mushroom and liked them with the tiger sauce. read more

Bella Mae's has taken over the location of where Jeff Pizza's used to be. Thank goodness for that as Jeff's was putrid trash. I decided to give Bella Mae's a try, hoping it would be better than Jeff's and thankfully it was. I ordered a round cheese pizza, a square pepperoni pizza, and honey bbq wings. First, the honey bbq wings were pretty good. They were flavorful and juicy, but they could of been cooked a little longer. If they were a little crisper, they would of been perfect. Furthermore, the square pizza was decent. The crust was thick, but a bit doughy. They did put a lot of sauce on the pizza though and the overall flavor was solid. I also tried the round pizza which was definitely better. The crust was crispy and the cheese was very tasty, but the pizza was a little too greasy. All in all, Bella Mae's is a fine pizza joint that has saved us from that disgusting Jeff's Pizza. read more

Pizza was a pile of undercooked mush and the owner has serious temper issues. Second time in a row they messed up too.

So I ordered through the Slice app and everything was wrong. The woman on the phone went on to argue with me and tell me I was wrong for placing the order through Slice and then hung up on me. BTW: This is the second and will be the last time they mess up our order. UPDATE: Owner called us cursing. Stated "I fuc*ing own this town". The pizza I ordered tonight was EXTRAORDINARY. We ordered the regular Cheese Pizza and the Vegetarian Pizza - my daughter literally danced when she tasted the cheese pizza, and I was floored at how good the Vegetarian Pizza was. So often a veggie pizza is just a bunch of onions and mushrooms - not here! This was melt-in-your-mouth delicious, with calamata olives, different cheeses, roasted veggies - and not too many onions (thank goodness!) -- absolutely fantastic. (As a vegetarian, I can't tell you how happy I am that their veggie pizza is so good.) Delivery was prompt and friendly. Bella Mae's is my go to from here on out!! read more

Tried Bella Mae's for the first time tonight, was hopeful, but they exceeded my expectations. Would recommend pickup, as the space is small, though there is plenty of outside seating for a true COVID experience. I love to see an owner cooking and assembling orders on a Saturday night, it shows that he cares. Also, he makes a Detroit pizza, which you can't really find around here, and while it is typically a special, will make you one any time with a day's notice. I will be going back, and it's a nice addition to the area. read more

Jeff's Pizza had been there forever -- at least for the last 20 or so years, maybe longer. In that time it had gone through a few changes of ownership, most of which weren't very good. The last incarnation of Jeff's made a decent pie, but they weren't there very long before the current owners took over and it became Bella Mae's. We had gotten pizza there not too long after it opened as Bella Mae's. It was very bland and we saw no need to go back. We decided to try it again this week. It was still very bland. The crust has minimal flavor and is little more than flatbread. The sauce seems like it was made from high grade tomatoes (a good thing) but is also quite bland. I don't think pizza sauce needs a zillion ingredients, but a bit of garlic would be welcome, and perhaps a hint of oregano. On the plus side, they're pretty generous with the toppings. I'm fairly basic in my pizza preferences, and our large pie was well covered with pepperoni, mushrooms, and (of course) cheese. Bella Mae's has a varied menu and perhaps the other offerings are worth the trip. It wasn't for me ... and we're only a couple miles away. read more

I place an order through Grub Hub to this place at 4PM. I kept getting delay notifications from them. Then at 6PM I got a notice that my order was canceled. When I called Bella Mae's directly to find out why I got no answer. They are supposed to be opened till 9PM. I will never use them again and I will report them to Grub Hub. read more

I have had their pizza twice. The a regular crust was good. Then tonight we orders deep dish. It was delicious. The guy there is was nice to me both times. I recommend it. It's 10 times better than the new owners at he spot down the road. read more

Very saddened at the experience I had with Bella Mae's last night. They have an online ordering system and were advertising free delivery if you ordered online. I ordered what I normally would've from one of my other local favorites and paid $72 compared to my other place I like at only $45 for the exact same thing. I placed my order online said it would be delivered in an hour. An hour and a half goes by still nothing. So I called to touch base they never even cooked my order yet. They said that they do not always check the computer for online orders. If that is that case then they should not have an online system. Either way they said my order would be delivered in a half hour. Another 45 minutes passes and finally it was delivered. The pizza was undercooked as it was rushed and they gave me boneless wings and not the bone in I ordered. Then they almost forgot my soda until the nice girl came running back to my door. GET THE CHICKEN PICCATA!! A few weeks ago I got a perfectly fine plain cheese pizza here, as my first visit in many years to the former Jeff's III location. The owners encouraged me to try their entrees, as they see themselves as much more than a "pizza and fried food joint". Last night's chicken piccata was better than most that I've had in white tablecloth restaurants: tender chicken breast, lightly breaded, sauteed just right, in a perfectly balanced sauce of butter, lemon and garlic. Plus a huge handful of fresh mushrooms, and plenty of capers. Served with a separate dish of perfectly cooked fettuccine, with more of the same sauce. Came with a small fresh salad, and a small toasted garlic-bread roll. But the portion of chicken and pasta was enough for at least 2, and maybe 3! Can't say enough good things about this meal, I plan to have it as a catered dish for company sometime! And I look forward to trying other dishes with Gramma's "old country crushed tomato" red sauce. read more
