Was in Tralee over the weekend. Lovely Italian food! Better than what we get where I'm from.

Unfortunately I cant give it full recommendations. We got to this place without reservations around 5p Saturday which from what it appears many had come with one. They accommodated our party of two which was extremely nice of them. It took a while until a server came to take our drink and good order. The garlic Parmesan Caesar salad was underwhelming (the lettuce pale and lacking freshness). My chicken mushroom risotto had so much black pepper I was constantly coughing from the spice. I quietly noted it to the server and a while later, the 'head' server (it may have been the owner) came over and said they don't put pepper in their risotto and implied I put it there. They did offer to make me something else from the menu. Overall they were professional but were insulting in assuming I put the pepper there. The photo shows how well incorporated the pepper was when I received it. It really doesn't deserve more words. It was just unfortunate. I can't say I'd go back just on one negative experience. It may have simply been unlucky incident for them but accusations are off putting. read more

*2.5 Stars* On my cross country trek of Ireland, I decided to stop by the small town of Tralee. Their was a carnival going on at the time and it was a little later in the evening and starvation settled in. So after looking at tons of outside menu's I decided on this place. It's an Italian restaurant in Ireland so honestly I didn't expect to get good food. Their are 2 dining area's split by an outside area that people can smoke and even eat. It was nice to sit outside (like a back yard). Food was decent. Started out with the Insalata Caprese and a salad. To keep it safe I had the personal pepperoni pizza and Cannelloni. The apps were ok. The pizza was good for Irish standards but the Cannelloni had a bit of a curry taste to it. Their prices were moderate and the service was eh. I eat here every time I go to Tralee. It's fantastic food and the menu is huge and very vegetarian friendly. The bruschetta is my favourite. Also love the garlic mushrooms and the minestrone. I can never choose what to get for main course, so many great choices. The arrabiata is amazing, so is the fettucini al funghi, so is the vegetarian pizza, and the rissotto! My meat eating friends tell me the lasagne is great, and the last time we went two of our group got the chicken and polenta and thought it was divine. The garlic potatoes are delicious, definitely order them!!! The early bird is such fantastic value. It's refreshing to know there is still a place where the prices have not increased in ten years, it shows just how decent the owners are. Willie & Noreen are always so friendly, welcoming and accommodating. They're also really generous and are quick to offer repeat customers a complementary glass of wine or liquer coffee. There's always a great atmosphere in there too. I never feel rushed in there and there's a really nice relaxed environment. It's nice and casual and you would feel just as comfortable grabbing an earlier casual bite in jeans as you would all decked out for a night on the tiles. The wine menu is also extensive and really affordable. The Chilean house white is fantastic. Go here and prepare to fall in love with the place! read more

I went to Bella Bia with my family for my mother-in-law's birthday the other week. It was a pretty good experience and we were happy out, overall. The place is a bit small but charming nonetheless. It wasn't too busy when we went, but got more so as the evening progressed. I had the spaghetti, which was your standard and was good, just nothing spectacular or life changing. My husband enjoyed his lasagne and my in-laws seemed to enjoy their dishes as well. The bruschetta was pretty good, as well. I had the tirimasu for dessert and I think that was my favorite part of the meal. It was quite good, although it was a fairly big portion! Surprised at the low number of stars for my favourite restaurant in Tralee! Bella Bia is a reliable spot for cosy atmosphere, good food, nice wine, and excellent (but not-overbearing) service. I usually go for the chicken risotto, my boyfriend likes the penne arrabiata (sp?), we always have a lovely meal. Great place for a romantic meal or a family dinner, which is not always easy to find in Tralee. read more

Stopped by this place after driving out to Dingle. It was raining so the location was excellent, easy to find. The service was wonderful and the portions were great. The Bailey's cheesecake was also some of these best I've ever had. read more

A lovely little restaurant with faultless food but it's a terrible shame that they pay little or no attention to their bookings - they seem to lack organisation and a seating place which means that even with a reservation you often end up waiting quite a while for your table, and there is very little space for waiting in so you end up just cluttering up the restaurant and getting in the waiters' way. read more

Other reviews here mention "reliable" and "nice" and that's exactly what you get with Bella Bia. A truly standard Italian who's menu probably hasn't changed since the day it opened. However 'standard' and 'reliable' is a mark of excellence compared to a lot of other restaurant choices in Tralee. And their amazingly cheap early bird menu is to be commended. read more

Oh my Amazing! We're visiting from California and read they had great reviews on trip advisor. The service was great and the staff was so fun and helpful! The food was so yummy! We got stuffed and garlic mushrooms, both were excellent. The risotto and mushroom pizza were exceptional as well. We were starving and this totally hit the spot! read more

Very friendly and obliging staff, nice, simple food. Not amazing but never disappoints when we can't think of anywhere else to go!

Bella Bia is my favorite Italian restaurant in Kerry if you are staying in Tralee I would definitely suggest for you to try it. It has a nice atmosphere with delicious food,beer and wine. The deserts are fabulous I would suggest the chocolate fudge cake or tiramisu. the pizza is amazing so is the pasta and I tend to enjoy the garlic bread for starter. The service can be a bit slow if it is busy but it would be well worth the wait. The waitresses are very polite and friendly and are always in a good mood. Bella Bia well deserves 5 stars for its services and food!!! read more
