I live in California, and this venue was recommended by a family member--so I trusted their opinion and booked it. I paid in full for the entire day, including an additional $200 for early access to decorate. Unfortunately, that trust was misplaced. Back in May, I had my event planner survey the venue. He was so concerned about the lack of cleanliness and overall condition that he quit, stating the space didn't meet his professional standards. I immediately brought these concerns to Tiffany, the owner, who assured me everything would be addressed well before the event. Despite having four months to correct the issues, the venue was still in unacceptable condition when we arrived. I got there at 11:00 AM, as agreed, but no employees were present. The first staff member didn't arrive until 1:30 PM--the original time scheduled for pre-party setup. So, despite paying extra for early access, no one came in early to prepare the space. Before posting this review, I tried to settle the matter directly with Tiffany. Her response was that they had to pay an employee to come in early--yet that employee didn't show up until the regular time, leaving my team and me to clean the venue ourselves. The exterior was unkempt--trash and cups littered the parking lot, the lawn was neglected, and spider webs hung at the entrance. I have photos documenting the condition. Inside, the vestibule windowsills were filthy and covered in spider webs. The glass doors were smudged, and the entryway hadn't been swept or mopped. The tables were stained, the floors dirty, and the trash cans overflowing. Even the bathrooms were in poor condition and required a full cleaning before guests could arrive. To make matters worse, hookah equipment and miscellaneous items were left out on tables--despite prior assurances that the venue would be fully prepared. It forced me to delay the arrival of my guests, including the birthday honoree. Had I not arrived early, the event would have been unfeasible. And because I had already paid in full for the entire day, I was unable to receive even a partial refund. Given the circumstances, I believe a refund of the $200 early access fee is more than justified. The lack of preparation, cleanliness, and staff presence was unacceptable, especially after months of notice. Future renters, be cautious. I hope this feedback encourages better standards moving forward.

Since it was a warm night, they opened the garage door and our guests were able to use the patio as well. We put backyard games and some extra lighting out there and it was perfect. In addition to entertainment provided by the DJ we hired, my daughter and her band performed on stage. What's great about the venue is that it's a blank canvas and you can design any kind of party or theme you want. It's the perfect spot for kids, teens and adults. Rachel Millas, the events coordinator, was tremendously helpful and accommodating, both leading up to the party and during the party. Colin, the owner and engineer, was also great to work with. I would definitely consider hosting another event here in the future.

Chantel tried to push for overpriced tent services and they push to only use the people on their list. This year we have been asked to move to the foyer or to whatever room may be available as they rely on rentals for these rooms. We agreed and we have been playing where they tell us to go. We pay $2.00 and now are asked to sign in and pay the fee. Additionally, we always were given water and coffee, and are now told that would no longer receive free water or coffee. When several of our members complained about this, a call was made to one of our members that we were rude to their staff, and they are not going to put up with this. I believe The Community House is ignoring the elderly in their community and are actually forcing us out of this venue in favor of younger members. Why else deprive us of free water.

I'd heard from a few members of my mother's club about Taste of Home. I haven't lived in the area for quite some time, so all I could do was trust their experience; and I was so glad I did. I explained the need to put our socially-distancing guests at ease with a range of outdoor, afternoon finger food that was individually-wrapped. Donna recommended an array of appetizer sandwiches and cookies that turned out to be real crowd pleasers! Eliminating the use for any utensils was certainly the way to go, and as if to underline that point, trays of non-wrapped cookies and cakes that people brought were hardly touched. My family is so pleased with the outcome, my area siblings are all looking into using Taste of Home for family dinners. We believe in keeping our purchasing as local as possible during this economic uncertainty, and Taste of Home has provided another great Hinsdale option for when cooking is better off done by someone else. Their menu offers great variety for any sort of audience or occasion, so before you order a pizza for the umpteenth time, give Donna and her team a go! Thanks ever, Donna!
