I would like to express my disappointment with the recent decline in the quality and selection of the buffet at this establishment. During our Easter brunch visit, we noticed a significant drop in the standard we had come to expect. The management's attempt to refute our observations on Google reviews prompted me to share my experience here. The Easter Bunny was noticeably absent, and the tiny baby shrimp served appeared to be frozen and thawed, lacking any flavor. The management's response that they compensate for this with other offerings does not address the issue of the shrimp's quality. Our server was often absent during our meal, despite the fact that the restaurant was not particularly busy. In the past, there used to be long lines of people waiting to be seated, but now the place is almost deserted. The management's explanation that customers disliked the long waits does not account for the lack of reservations. I kindly suggest that it would be more beneficial to focus on improving the quality of the buffet and service rather than making excuses. I hope that the management will take these concerns into consideration and work towards restoring the establishment's reputation. EDITED. It seems like this establishment can not take criticism and stalk those who post an honest review, as evidenced not only by this review but also by others on this platform. No matter that you're not a restaurant. If you serve food, you should be prepared to serve the best. This type of social media stalking and excuse making only makes my opinion worse. I came here for a friends 90 year old mom's celebration, and I must add I have been here for prior banquets also so it came as no surprise. But this time I will review as I was pleasantly surprised on the ambience and the quietness of the hall. This time I did notice they do have slot machines in front, which I was puzzled about since it is a banquet hall, but nothing surprises me any longer so that's just a sign of the times I guess. The service as far as the banquet hall was as always, amazing. From the bartender and the cocktail to even the prices, although this time around they do use card machines also vs cash. Cash is still king but I like the option of using my plastic and giving the cash in tips, they appreciate it and I also do. The service in the actual serving at the banquet hall was a little to all over the place. Thus, me giving the score I did. First off half of the people started leaving an hour before it ended but I think it was in part to the dinner came out and it was dragging for the servers to get all the dinners served. What struck me even more was that dessert (which basically was cake and ice cream) came out 5 minutes before we were all leaving, that is a big no no. When I asked the host what the reason was that they served it so late, she said, the staff there was responsible for serving and times so she was also perplexed. Regardless, that is unacceptable. But I digress. The food was amazing and the variety of food was perfection, served a little late but I can let that go. I still was able to try to the dessert but still I was leaving. If you want a banquet for your next function, would I recommend? Probably yes, but make sure all the kinks are fixed first as this may get you upset. This venue was a blessing amidst the pandemic. My good friend Alice, recommended this place with rave reviews about the food. We called, we visited, we immediately booked the platinum package in the staircase room for our wedding ceremony. Argiris helped us with our selections. Outside of the assistance of Eventsbytiffanyr.com for wedding coordination and additional decorations, my two sister-in-laws...making sure the table linens and chair covers were spotless, my uncle and his daughter-in-law assisting with the picture backdrop and balloons; my wedding was planned and successfully executed in 43 days. I was not a bridezilla! I was surrounded by 50 people who love and adore my husband and I. The food was in abundance and truly delicious, the cake ...which was included was delicious. The staff were nice and easy to deal with. Our family enjoyed the open bar. I couldn't have asked for a better wedding day. This is more a 3.5 star rating. My family and I have booked events at Niko's for years. We've had baby showers, a 50'th wedding anniversary, etc. Niko's is very accommodating and offer great prices on certain days of the week. The food is top notch, and the service is friendly and quick for a room of 100+. The staff went above and beyond to keep the guests happy. Unfortunately, Niko's is showing its age in the interior. Understandably, renovations can take time out of a banquet season for a biz that depends on those weekends. That too takes a toll where bathrooms are showing their wear and tear, the carpeting, flooring, paint, and finishes/decorative lighting is also showing their age. Hopefully Niko's will do a facelift soon. With the influx of new biz from Toyota Park, perhaps having a facelift from inside and out will add to the happy clients in the future. read more

After many years of using this venue for private banquets we have hit the wall with this place. The price they charge is too high for the lack of professionalism we witnessed at our 2022 luncheon. We had to wait throughout the building nearly an hour because they had not cleaned the room from the night before, it was a mess. We finally got in the room, I pulled my chair back to sit down and there as a half eaten roll still on the floor. Enough for cleaning up! The coffee that was supposed to be on the tables was set up in a closed walkway that was out of sight to 75% of the guest. When the food came 2 hrs late the salad dressing was thinned, only 1 choice and there wasn't enough to go around an 8 seat table, the soup was thinned!. When the food arrived half the Entrees were warm the rest were cold. 3 attempts at heating mixed vegetables barely warmed them or maybe they were just walking them out the room and bringing them back! The salt and pepper were a horror story, the contents were hard like they had gotten wet, allowed to dry and set back out on the table. It was difficult trying to explain what was going wrong, because of language barriers. We came here and requested a quote for the hall rental and they were extremely nice, informative and after eight emails and answering all of our questions we decided to move forward and they went ahead and gave the hall to somebody else without a courtesy call. All family members involved in this conversation clearly are upset at the way this was handled and obviously a courtesy call would've been appreciated from a professional standpoint. It would've been nice if they would've told us that they were going to go ahead and give it to someone else, a simple courtesy call would've been a nice professional touch to avoid the inconvenience of us having to locate another venue. My sisters and I went back to Niko's for Father's Day treating our nephews and/or my sister sons; however, my oldest nephew planned a fishing trip with a co-worker--shame on him! So, we were short again with our head count. But, my other nephew enjoyed himself. We, my sisters and I was very disappointed with the amount of spread with the food. We happened to be in the same room again and seated at the same table for Mothers Day, however, our table was round instead of square/rectangle shape and the food was set up on front end of the room instead of the back end when we came to Nikos for the very first time. Our reservations was for 11:00 and my sister called to see how close I was to Nikos because she was running a little late. I happened to be their very first customer to walk through the door. I called my sister back and told her the situation. Our waitress from Mothers Day worked the night before so she was not coming in to serve us. While waiting for their arrival, I decided to go to the lady's room. "Low and behold, it was a mess from the big party the night before. No one had time to clean the washroom; however, everyone still running back and forwards to one room to another to the banquet room doing nothing, but no one had time to check nor clean the wash room. We happened to be their only customer for about thirty minutes before other people arrived. Through out our entire time there, the place never really filled up. The food set-up was based on reservations. This is why the food spread was so disappointing. My sister mentioned that a party of 15 had canceled--Ouch! The omelette table didn't have fresh spinach like before on Mothers Day--but they had a flat Spinach quiche on the buffet table. I guess it was an either or toss up with the Spinach for the omelette table or for the quiche and the quiche won. My sister and I both have had Spinach quiche and I have made some before and we agree that we have tasted better and my own was better, too. Mother's Day brunch was huge with a wide variety of choices In every food category, opposed to a choice in a category. Again, my nephew enjoyed himself but we decided we would bring them on Mother's Day to experience a good feast. Since the fathers are not treated the same as the mothers and that is a shame. Fathers are just as important to a household as so the mothers! My sister and I went to the ladies room before leaving and, again not touched at all. While leaving the banquet hall, one of the owners, the female owner asked how was it and we said it was nice. We did enjoy what they had to offer. Absolutely pitiful. Please do not go here and if you do, put your expectations to the floor. No, the basement cellar. Everything was just so.. bleh. Half of our cups had lipstick on them before we even got there. The silverware was just as crusty. The food was lukewarm and the items that were supposed to be cold were not. Everything was just room temperature making it pretty unappetizing. No refills for water and other drinks, making it a landfill of empty glasses that no one came to clear. I watched the man serving the meat (ham and not so prime rib - extremely fatty) quite literally cough straight over both slabs of meats while his hands were cutting the food. Just gross. The atmosphere was the same as an old retirement home, which there's nothing wrong with old chaps, but there's a point where you want to be surrounded by healthy people. Coordinated a 70, 90 birthday party for my cousin and aunt at Nikos. Everyone had a ball and thought the food was the best "banquet" food ever. When I complimented Ari on the food, he said they don't consider their food banquet food, and they only use fresh, quality ingredients. That was surely reflected in the food we had. Yum, Yum. Went here for my office dinner party. The food is very American. So for apps - everything was fried. Corn dogs, califlower, cheese, and so much more my arteris couldn't take. It was a sit down three course meal. Chicken soup which was tasteless and just chicken broth and rice. The salad was a plain iceberg lettuce, so it was boring. The prime rib was delicious however. I am sure this place is NOT what it used to be. I just received a response a year and a few months later after a review on FB. Now the question of why I made the review a few days before their annual New Years Eve banquet: was to sway others from spending good money on a half assed place. Now towards management...I remember them running around like chickens without heads. When music has technical difficulties for 1/3 of the music time. Or when your mom has diabetes, and is expected to eat at a certain time. Not at 9:30. When your table is served, and you still haven't gotten dressing on your salad. Or when entrees come out, cold, missing veggies, over cooked, severely under cooked. Or everyone is almost done and you are still waiting on yours. (3plates) and you keep asking staff what's the hold up. You kind of just want to leave. But for the sake of your mom, you stay. Never again. For management to confront the post a year and a few months later, just shows how badly their service is. It is somewhat cold and confrontational. From what I read on other posts, I noticed the same. I came here for my friend's wedding. It's a nice venue. Nothing too special, but rather your typical banquet hall. The wedding was on a Sunday night, and there were about 200 people in attendance. They had an open bar, which was nice, but this place pours the drinks super WEAK. I recommend bringing a flask along to stiffen up your cocktails. The food, on the other hand, was pretty decent. Keep in mind, I always set the bar extremely low for banquet hall or hotel reception events. I'm usually just happy if the food is served warm! They did have some passed hors d'oeuvres, which were mostly fried stuff. When dinner started, we had some kind of creamed soup along with a Caesar salad and bread. Then it was a family-style dinner with an assortment of dishes, such as beef, chicken, mostaccioli, mashed potatoes, vegetables ... I'm sure I'm leaving a few things out. Everything was tasty! Overall, we had a really good time. Niko's is a bit of a trek from where we live on the north side of Chicago, but it's a nice place to have or attend a reception. read more

We went there for a banquet and I have been here a couple of times for banquets in years past. Wow how the food quality has slipped here. My son made the same comments about the food that I did. The Fried Chicken lacked seasoning, it tasted as if they just put flour on the check and then fried it. However when they put it in the hot box or however they kept it warm it made the skin soggy and dreadful. The beef was stone cold, but would have been ok if they had served it warm. The best part of the meal was the cream of chicken soup, however one soup had only 3, yes I counted it, 3 pieces of chicken in it and nothing else. My son's bowl was loaded. I first went here 16 years ago for my grandmother's 85th birthday party and from what I remember, its was pretty good but not the best food ever. I looked up their menu online for the Sunday brunch and it sounded impressive but I get there with my wife, mom & aunt and half the food advertised is not there and this is a $ 17.99 brunch, not small change. But it was not worth it, what they had was good, but I was promised ribs (one of my fave foods), pancakes, waffles, cakes and a carving station and got none of that. It was your typical south side, old people food (no offense to old people), think of a House of Hughes in Midlothian if they had a buffet, though a step better and cheaper than them. If this was $ 12.99 I'd be cool but it wasn't, the place is nice, the live pianist was wonderful but I came to get my eat on and ended up with an alright meal, not so cool, not sure if I'd return, even if my mother asked me to. read more

This is the second year that we host our family NYE event at Niko's Banquets and again it was a success. The food was excellent, the employees were overwhelmingly helpful, the bartenders never missed a beat, the place was cleaned and set up the way we requested. Leading up to the day of the event the staff was always responsive and accommodating on our requests and were patient with us due to adding people to our list. To be fair, I gave Management ample time to make this situation right with me yet efforts failed so here we go! On December 28th upon recommendation from a friend who had also planned an event at Niko's this coming September, my siblings and I hosted a birthday party for my mother. I worked with a lady named Helen who was actually very accommodating and gave me what I thought was a great price for the event. The old adage "You get what you pay for" rang very true with this situation. On the day of the event as friends and family were arriving, an uninvited guest showed up... A MOUSE!! My family members brought it to the attention of my Event Planner and she spoke with someone and as the event was beginning the staff was looking behind the furniture with flashlights trying to find the mouse or the hole it may have come from! WTH!! This is happening during my event!! I'm told by my Planner that a piece of furniture was moved to cover what could have possibly been a hole! When I arrived and got this information I was completely horrified and nervous the whole time that this rodent will again show up! Of course, one of the family members told my mother and that was a rap! None of my family members ate any of the food. Of course, I was absolutely too embarrassed to share this with anyone else in the party; so while I was putting on a brave face and trying to be a good hostesses and celebrate my mother, I was on pins and needles for four hours praying we have no more unexpected surprises! I contacted Niko's the following Monday and spoke to a gentlemen about the incident and expressed how disgusted I was with the sighting and asked how they were going to compensate me for the inconvenience. The first thing he offered was more food. Really? I didn't eat the day of the event, why would I want more food from this place? He then goes on to tell me that the door was open for an extended period of time while the DJ was loading equipment. So I replied, "so now it's our fault the mouse was there?" He quickly weaseled out of that explanation. He then got testy after I assured him that he didn't want me to share this experience with the person who had previously booked a future event and anyone else. He told me to do what I want and went on to talk about being in business 45 years and that the decision to compensate me for my inconvenience was not his and that he would speak to the manager. A few days later, Helen called and said the owner was offering $100. I told her that was not acceptable and what would be fair is to at least reimburse me for the cost of my immediate family who did not eat, which was around $400. This conversation took place on Thursday, Jan 2nd. To date, I've heard nothing from them. So to end my review, if you want have a dinner event in an establishment that may have rodents sharing banquet space with you, causing you to wonder what unsanitary, grossness is going on in the kitchen from which you are being served and not eat the food for which you have already pre-paid, have at it! I just had my Big Fat Italian Wedding here on 10-15-2011. It turned out AMAZING! And let me tell ya, my family does not lie to make you feel good and I am still getting compliments 6 months later! The process at Nikos started off rocky. The place needed (still needs a few) improvements aesthetically. I was not impressed with the cigarette burns in the carpet in the front of the building or the long narrow hallway leading to the banquet room. They were also having some pluming problems as well, that have been fixed. But with that said, they improved the place enough where I was willing to book them for my wedding. We were looking for a place with good food that could accommodate 250 people and have a good sized dance floor. And that us exactly what we got and more! For $10,000.00 We had 240 guests, tortellini appetizers, cream of chicken rice soup, Greek salad, herb roasted potatoes, lamb rosamarina, roast beef, Grecian chicken, vodka penne and green beans almondine. It also included our cake, from a well recognized bakery on the northside of Chicago, and wine on the tables with dinner, cocktail hour and top shelf liquor open bar and chair covers. Everything went pretty smoothly. There were some last minute changes in the table arrangement that slightly frazzled me (after spending hours trying to seat everyone properly). The seating ended up working out, as did everything else. My guests were fed in a timely fashion, the food was great, the booze flowed and the people danced their butts off! I have been to many weddings, from very over the top to very minimal and I know one thing- It is not about hiw much you spend wether or not people enjoy themselves, it is about the guests, food, booze and dancing. When we decided to get married through church we wanted to get a nice affordable banquet hall. We found Niko's by accident. We drove past it on our way to another hall and luckily we decided to stop. The planner was very nice and helpful and their prices were unbeatable. We also loved that the banquet came with the cake. That was one last thing I had to worry about. The day of my wedding the banquet hall was beautifully set up. The bartender we had was very nice to our guests. The food was amazing (I could eat their Vesuvio potatoes forever). We ended up staying almost an hour over and not only were they nice about it, when we tried paying the person in charge just "brushed" us off. :) I recommend this place to everyone I know because we had an amazing experience. read more

We got lots of compliments on the food. The food was fabulous! The prices were even better. I was not expecting to have such amazing food for the price that they charged compared to other banquet halls. They also include the cake in their wedding packages, however the bakery they use now is terrible with wedding cakes, so if you have the funds -- I'd get your cake elsewhere. The service the day of was amazing. The servers were super attentive, and I believe my guests enjoyed themselves. The complaint I have is for the days leading up to the wedding. We wanted to have a lot of décor for our party, and we had called ahead of time to make sure that the florist and wedding coordinator could come in at least 2 hours before the party started, and we got a lot of pushback. It wasn't until almost the day before when my husband complained that they finally gave us some leeway and let us come in 2 hours beforehand to set up. I don't think they realize that not everybody wants to use their centerpieces, some people want to do more décor and have their parties more personalized. They also gave us a hard time about leaving a small (I'm talking super-duper small like half the size of a very small car) trailer in their parking lot overnight or even just in the morning so our wedding coordinator could have everything there for set up. Again once my husband complained, they finally gave in. Overall I would absolutely recommend this venue for a wedding or other large party. The food and pricing is amazing, and the atmosphere is pretty once you put your special touch on it. Came here for a family party. Average banquet rooms. I was not impressed with our server we had for dinner. In the beginning of the service I requested vegetarian options, she said she would check on it and then she continued to try to serve me non vegetarian food. It took talking to different servers to finally get a vegetarian plate. The soup was fine, minestroni, but the dinner that was served was horrible. I don't see what's so hard for banquet halls to serve a tasteful pasta dish. Other than the food issue our server was constantly on her phone. In between serving plates she kept checking her phone. The food was okay, they served chicken, roast beef, mashed potatoes, and green beans. Nothing out of the norm. This past weekend I was a coordinator for my good friends' wedding. Months before her wedding, I went with her to do a walk through and even spoke with someone about hosting an event there myself. The price I was quoted was super reasonable I could hardly believe it as banquet halls can be pricey now a days. After Sunday, hosting anything is no longer an option. Myself and my crew came in at 3pm to start setup. The wedding started at 6pm. When we arrived the tables already had tableclothes and the chairs already had covers and sashes. As we walked around, we noted the seat covers were dirty, not 1, 2 or 10 but more like 30. Not only were the covers dirty but the sashes were incorrectly tied, one chair didn't have a sash at all or the sashes were loopsided. Then 2 tables had dirty tableclothes. When I addressed one gentleman who I assumed to be some form of management, he responded it was impossible the tableclothes were dirty because they had just put them on the previous night, but he he had them changed. As for the seat covers, they blamed the company that they rent from for the shoddy job. After the staff changed some (not all) of the chair covers, they either didn't put the sashes back on or they put them on improperly. 15 minutes before the wedding was about to start, I noticed the centerpieces were not placed on the table. Management informed me that the servers may have assumed that since we had smaller centerpieces we didn't want the larger ones. I may be wrong, but how does someone have the audacity to assume that without checking first. Dinner was fine, except the portion sizes weren't big enough for a 10 person table. I asked that the cake be served with dessert and no one from the wait staff touched it until at least 30 minutes after. At the end of the night, I noticed a crate with a tableclothe and 2 empty drinks that were there in the doorway of the room where the wedding took place when I arrived at 3pm was still there when I left after 12am. The management the attitude of the management was quite snippy as well. The young lady putting together a wedding arch asked me to be a go between for her and the manager because of his attitude. All in all Niko's was okay. The facilities itself needs a facelift but if you are on a budget, you may be willing to settle. If Niko's is going to use a third party to rent chair covers, they should hold them at a higher standard, as the chair covers will still reflect them in the end. read more

Where do I start? I'll start with the drinks: watered down! I had 2-3 drinks & didn't have a hint of a buzz. The food was ok. Add a little salt & you'll be ok! Waitstaff: ok. They placed the food right underneath dirty plants & table decorations. THAT was a big turnoff to me. The way the tables were set up near the dance floor, in a vice like setting, made it difficult to walk around. Boy did I make a mistake by going to the Easter brunch at Nikos. The cold salads were good but, the hot food was cold and had little to no flavor. The whole buffet line was not kept up. Food was not refilled and when it was the servers spilled all over when the dumped the additions from the bowls they used to replenish food items. No one watched the line to clean up the spills. The desert table was bad, it included rubber jello and a sheet cake. Very unappealing. read more

I attended a company event yesterday at Nikos and I really liked the room! It was very spacious, large chandelier, colorful up lights and large dancefloor! They had a dinner buffet with a nice spread of salads, hot items and desserts. I really enjoyed everything,I would highly recommend this place!! read more

We had the pleasure of hosting our Daughter's cotillion on 1/30/16. Everything was wonderful, from the initial day of booking till the day of the event. We had our wedding at nikos yesterday. What a phenomenal establishment! They went above and beyond anything and everything I dreamed of. My room was gorgeous. The staff made the tables look beautiful. The food was spectacular! All of my guests enjoyed it. Everyone was very attentive. And even though they had every banquet room with an event they still came to check on us to make sure everything was perfect! Our bartender Candace was such a delight! She was our server for our food tasting and was so hospitable then and we were thrilled to have her with us for the evening. I work in the restaurant industry and my expectations and extremely high and for them to meet and exceed my expectations is quite an accomplishment! I can't say enough wonderful things about them. We are so happy with our decision to have our wedding there we would do it 10xs over! Great job nikos!! You'll be seeing us again! read more
