It can't be that hard to repair and replace some of the ceiling tiles that are water stained or have buckled. They are also stained yellow. It doesn't help that the ceiling tiles are a stenciled pattern so when replacing them, why not stencil the new ones to match? The red, vinyl booths around the dance floor look aged, and the carpeting is thread bare in the most traveled parts. The bar looks cheap and outdated too. My first impression upon entering is that the place is a dark and gloomy maze constructed of brown brick and wood paneling. The food was off - nothing tasted normal. It was a game to guess the sauces in the gravy bowls, and instead of tartar and cocktail sauce, they were in fact ranch and french salad dressing. I still didn't think so after tasting them but that's what the people at my table claimed. The soup I thought was cream of potato but was instead cream of chicken rice with a strong lemon tang. I think they doused the beef roast with hot sauce. I did like the roasted chicken which was marinated and cooked well, as well as any diner I've eaten at. The bar did not have any single malt scotch. The service was excellent by the wait staff, but the tables and chairs were pushed so close together, they needed our assistance to pass dishes and drinks to the people against the wall. The part of the venue we were in is the smaller of the two and fit 180 people uncomfortably. I don't know how much it cost for open bar, but it can't be that much since everything was well drinks - mixed drinks made with generic, not brand name liquor. The white wine placed at our table was not good and left untouched for the rest of the night. We love to drink, but I don't think anyone thought the alcohol was good enough to get drunk on.

Seriously, it's a decent facility if you like outdated, dark banquet halls. I will say that the bathroom was decent and clean, which is always a plus. Cons: my major issue was the food. It was all bad. The rice and mastacoli (the only side dishes) were both spicy! The beef was OK at best. The salad was iceberg with barely anything added (I'd rather drink my water). The bread was either cheap or left uncovered for too long as it had started hardening. The worst part was my chicken, which may have been tasty, had it not been spoiled! It wasn't rancid, but that chicken that you realize has been in the fridge for 12 hours too long and needs to be doused in vinegar before cooking. But they neglected the vinegar step. I informed the staff and the response was, "oh" as she took the plate and walked away with it. *sigh So much for expecting to eat as a part of my ticket price. Overall, I was there for an informal dance party, so the venue served it's purpose. However, this is not somewhere I would want to attend a formal event.

I wish I had found this place years ago! Nice accommodations and fabulous staff. And of course,…read morethe chocolate chip cookies served warm. I found this gem when looking for a hotel that would allow me to leave my care on the premises until I return. They have a stay and park program that I love. I stay the first night, catch the airport shuttle the next morning, and leave my car. No more paying to park a couple miles away and waiting on the shuttle bus to get there to pick us off or drop us off. When you return from your trip, you catch the free Doubletree hotel shuttle back to your car, get in your car, and leave. No need to check back in with the front desk. The shuttles to and from the airport are complimentary. Just give your driver a nice tip.

The DoubleTree by Hilton in Alsip Illinois is a hard place to review. There are some good things…read moreto note but these positive attributes are outweighed by the negatives. Let me start with the good stuff. The rooms were quite nice. To be honest, this is NOT a 4 star hotel, so do not expect a Ritz Carlton. But the furniture and the furnishings were quite nice and new. The towels were thick and heavy. The toiletries were very nice and plentiful. Likewise, the lobby is nicely done and big enough to handle lots of people at one time. We stayed at the hotel because of a big event/meal and, I have to say the event and food there were really good. The ballroom was nicely appointed and the food was very tasty (a hard thing to do when you're feeding about 300 people). But the hotel event staff ran a tight ship and I noticed a fair number of people going back through the buffet line for seconds. That is a good sign. Okay now to the bad stuff. The front desk staff were not very friendly or helpful. They looked at you, if they did at all, like you were bothering them. Housekeeping was sub-par; slow and they did not really clean anything. The bar and the dining room were also not good. The food in the bar and the breakfast in the dining room were not worth going back for at all, ever! One final thing to note is that the hotel is isolated in an area that is not so nice. Surrounding businesses are not interesting, there are no good restaurants and there is no place to shop if that is your thing. The hotel itself might be worth a 4 star rating here but the negative aspects drag it down to a 3 star review. Do I recommend this hotel? No.

Our friend bid on a foursome here at a charity auction so we joined them for that round today…read more Is a nice course with lots of old oak trees and only one hole with any water to worry about - number 11. The tee boxes and greens are in good shape. It is a very forgiving course as there is very little in between each of the fairways which are rather compactly laid out next week chiller. None of the holes are north of 86th and nine of the holes are on the south aide of the street. The strange thing is since it is a private course there are no markers for the tea boxes and you don't know what hoke you are on without your caddie. There are no bushes or demarcations between greens and the next holes tee boxes so it feels kind of wide open. If you walk each person gets their own caddie, if you take a cart each foursome gets a walking fore caddie. Everyone was extremely nice at the club. From the gentleman at the bag drop to the starter to the caddies and the servers at the grill. We had lunch before the round and two of her group and the burger. It look like it was about 10 ounces in weight and they said it was season very well and delicious. I had the three mini pork belly sliders with tomato jam and they were very flavorful and just the right size. The french fries were well browned and nicely seasoned. Have no idea what this place costs to be a member but if you have a chance to play there don't hesitate.

Not a pleasant experience to say the least, rude and impatient service! #possibly racistread more
