A/C unit pooped out, and was in complete distress. I called the afterhours line, and got a call first thing in the morning. They had a tech at my house at 9am, and it was fixed within 30 minutes (capacitor blew). Travis was exceedingly nice, explained the issue, and had cold air running in no time. Cost was beyond reasonable (and I've been gouged by other HVAC guys before). Every ounce of our review is truthful and what happened. we highly disagree with Giovanni's reply. I did mention the floors and the ceilings multiple times. It took a while to take the pictures because we have a lot of life things going on. We shouldn't have to be on top of such an incompetent company. Over and over. Consumers seriously beware. We woke up Christmas morning to discover that our furnace was not working. We called, were advised that an emergency service call on the holiday would be $1000, (even with a "platinum"-level contract, but OK) so we said, no we can manage, and were told that a service pro would be at our house on 12/26/24 between 12 and 5. Husband just called (it's 2pm) and learned that not only were we NOT scheduled, evidently there's no communication AT ALL between the off-hours folks and the business. What? Oh and also husband was told that an emergency service call would cost $750, not $1000. They're looking into this - we have a 2 year contract so we're sort of stuck ... but if Bell doesn't tighten up their service and responses to customers that I assume they'd like to keep, they'd better sort this out quickly. As an update to a post a few months back. Mount Kisco Mechanical came and installed the brand new air handler. More importantly how it pertains to my previous review is they forums 2 more leaks, this time in the line-set for the AC. You see, instead of properly connecting 3 of the line sets with a more conventional connection. They used what is called a "shark bite" which is a cheap and easy way to connect one line to the other. Problem is, it leaks. So not only did the coil in the air handler leak under the warranty repair, the original line set leaked to. Also not detected. If you are considering Bell. RUN. read more

UPDATE (6/15/23): My HVAC system has been giving me problems since Bell installed it 2 years ago. During the warranty period, they sent repairmen over to band-aid the situation. Apparently, my system had been leaking refrigerant since it had been installed. Instead of finding the leak and repairing it, they would just send repairmen over to add refrigerant, but they never bothered to find out where the leak was coming from. Now that their warranty is up, they want to charge me $2,000 to fix it. Unfortunately, I now have to take legal action against them. Don't be fooled by all of the good reviews on here for them. There is new management now, and most of the good reviews are from the previous management. I regret ever having done business with Bell. read more

Having recently moved to the area and wanting to support local businesses I asked Bell for a quote for the installation of a home AC system, but they told men that it would be $150 just to receive a quote and hence I cancelled. A few days later the technician, who was a very friendly chap, turned up anyway. I explained that there is no way that is was paying 150 bucks just to get a quote, so he called back to his office. After about half an hour on the phone, sat in his van on my driveway he came back to inform me that if I took them up on the quote there and then, the 150 dollar fee could be removed. I asked what happens if he quotes me $50k or more, to be told that if that wasn't in my budget then I'd have to pay the fee. Hence, I didn't get a quote and Bell lost a potential installation and a service agreement for the next however many years. read more

The year 2021 Bell Mech replaced our 25 year old boiler. It was not a cheap install. Now 6 months later, late spring of 2022, we don't need to run the home heating anymore BUT We don't have hot water!! I called and told them why we don't get hot water when the home heat is not on? I was very sure it was not our hot water tank because that was also replaced in 2018, so it is pretty much new. Bell tech came, fixed the issue, I paid for it. It was upsetting because less than a year ago I spent thousands to have the heating system replaced only to encounter another problem. Fast forward to present day, April 2023, Hot water problem is back on again! We don't get the hot water when home heating is not running. Was something amiss during replacement of our boiler? I shouldn't be dealing with this issue if Bell had done the install properly, am I? With our old boiler we never have this hot water issue at all, not once. read more

Then a service person calls to say he's on his way. I told him my appointment was canceled. I called the company and spoke to a very rude woman who basically said I never cancelled my appointment. They are a local company who is very responsive to their customers. They communicated with us often throughout the process. We received bids from numerous HVAC companies prior to choosing Bell . Mr Bell estimated the job and gave us numerous equipment and budget options. He explained the various options and answered all of our questions unlike some of the other companies. After speaking to customers we selected Bell over the other bidders. The instillation crew was prompt, neat and professional. All safety / Covid measures were taken. read more

We were referred to Bell via a family friend. We were scheduled for an 11-2 window three days after our initial call. The technician arrived at 8 am without calling ahead. We rescheduled as I had a doctors appointment at 8:30. We were given an alternate 11-2 window four days later. At 2 pm we were told the tech would be there at 4 pm. At 4:45 the technician said he would be finishing his current job by 5:30 but needed an hour travel time and that I should reschedule. He would make a notation so that we would be a priority the next day. I called the following morning and was told the next available appointment would be a week from today. That would be two weeks from the initial call date. I stated this to "Colleen" who stated they had made two service attempts (untrue) and we were not a priority. read more

George Habib was a diligent and knowledgeable point man for my install. I replaced the entirety of a 33 year old central air unit earlier this month. Two incredibly hard working guys did the entire thing in one day, jammin' both in the cold outside and in my crawl space. Clean and quiet. Very nice. Adhered to Covid guidelines. I had three companies come in and provide quotes. Robison (who's estimate was absolutely cost prohibitive with no wiggle room for different options). Taconic (who was far more honest with different options at different price points) and Bell. Bell impressed me and by far... Carrier equipment, so top of the line. George also spent a lot of time with me explaining things and because I was able to pay cash, gave me a 2% discount (the credit card cost to their company for running the card). A small extra that absolutely helps. I worked from home during the entire thing and barely knew they were around. So far, I am pleased. Hoping when I fire it up come summer, it proves to be an excellent choice. read more

Update... we did receive a refund from our service visit, but I really don't feel any different about this company. Feel like they were trying to take advantage of a stay at home mom. 0.0 Stars!! Our A/C unit stopped working and called Bell for service. We were quoted $139 for a service tech just to show up, note this price does not roll over into any repairs. After about 10 minutes into his visit, mostly just checking the voltage to the unit and never taking apart the fan, we were quoted a $700 repair for a new fan motor. The service tech said "the fan is jamming up." Whatever that means and how could he tell without taking the fan unit apart? We also believe that since my wife is a stay at home mom, we believe he thought he could get one over on her. We told him thank you for stopping by but we are going to research some prices. After our research we learned our problem is usually resolved by simply replacing the units run capacitor. This run capacitor is easily obtained and at the high end costs $20!!! We purchased the part from a local supply company and installed ourselves w/some help from YouTube. The unit has worked perfectly ever since!! I called Bell to explain how the problem was solved and all I received was mumbles & grumbles from their service receptionist. I was told to send an email to their service manager and he would discuss it with me in detail. Still no response, I was told he has no number I could use to contact him and I currently believe the email address I was given probably goes to an uncheck mail box in their system. I am more angry about being lied to and attempting to be con'd out of additional $700 for a $20 repair. If you have an issue, check YouTube first, just simply type in a few key words of your problem in their search line and you will learn all you need to know on how to deal with companies like Bell! When you're in a pinch, you would think you could trust a company to tell you the truth, especially a local company. Bell is not that company. BBB, Chamber of Commerce and Yelp complaints are also being filed. This local company has no respect for their neighbors and their satisfaction guarantee page is useless. I would not trust one positive review from any forum related to Bell Heating and Air Conditioning. Research Your Problem and Don't Always Trust Positive Reviews. Incompetent horrible company. They were here and quoted us for a new hot water heater and new pvc piping going through ceiling to outside and paid half up front. These guys show up unprepared and not knowing what the job was. Then they tried to backtrack and say we don't need the pvc piping which is completely incorrect and they would not readjust the quote. Next they went to install the new hot water heater and it was too big because they brought the wrong size and had no others available. They had three weeks before our appointment to get this correct so they put the old one back in and bailed on the job. We were told they would refund us right away. Three days later still no refund when we called. Avoid this nightmare of a company that doesn't even have the courtesy to apologize for their horrific service. read more

My HVAC system has been giving me problems a few years after Bell installed an entire new system and all new duct work. I have renewed my preventive maintenance contract with them for 15 years and for the last 10 years, they continue to send a service technician to band-aid the situation due to my system leaking refrigerant instead of finding the leak and repairing it. They would just send a tech over to add refrigerant, but they never bothered to find out where the leak was coming from. This appeared to the norm for Bell. Of course, after the warranty expired, they now wanted to charge me $1,500 to fix it last summer, but after several discussions they agreed to roughly $500. It worked for one-month last summer, only to turn on the system this spring with the same issue. Apparently, the slow leak issue continues. I called two weeks ago to renew my contract, setup up my annual preventive maintenance, and request a service call for a refrigerant leak once again. I was told I still had a balance, and they will look into this issue and get back to me. No return call from them for 2 weeks and I also have not received a response to an email from over a week ago. Note - Even the tech they sent last summer to replace the line-set that was supposedly leaking, left after the work was complete and told me the system is running like new. I told him the airflow pressure normally coming from my vents didn't feel right, and as cold. He said it's working correctly and was fast to leave. Guess what.. cold air not blowing from vents and two days later they said they were going to send one of their best technicians to troubleshoot. The next tech was definitely much more competent and recharged the system correctly. WARNING - Your tech released clouds of R410A refrigerant into the atmosphere and should lose his license and be fined. Don't be fooled by the good reviews on here for them. DO NOT USE BELL. They charged me $201 for a $10 part that you can buy in any hardware store. It connects with 2 nuts and does not require any interaction with electric or gas. The total bill with the initial service charge was $370. When I called they said that is the price and then some nonsense about gas, insurance and that it would have a 1 year warranty. Great, so I paid 20x the actual price for a one year warranty for a $10 part that should last 10 years anyway. This is the most extreme case of price gouging I have ever seen. I contacted Bell H&C to install a nest thermostat. They quoted a price of $500 for the thermostat and to install the required upgraded wiring. I had to purchase the thermostat from them in order for it to be warranted. When the technician arrived he wasn't aware of the requirement to install the wiring. He called the office for clarification. When he tried to do the installation he didn't know how and couldn't do it. He left the thermostat and I called another company to do the installation , which they were able to do, however they would not warranty the thermostat installation because I purchased it from Bell. It ended up costing $280 for the thermostat which I could have purchased through NYSEG with a $75 rebate. The person I communicated with in the office was Flo, who was very apologetic, but was not very helpful. Overall a bad experience. read more

Dave came out to my house on a Friday morning to give me a quote on replacing my Carrier HVAC system. Gave me a quote the very same day on a new Carrier system. Followed up often. But they are con artists. Looked at my system and told me it was a "commercial" HVAC and didn't want to upgrade the panel and thermostats to new wifi enabled. The system I had was not commercial and was just an older Carrier communicating system. Then when I told him we were going with someone cheaper, he proceeded to disparage the competitor and tell me they were doing things that would invalidate my warranty and cause my unit to fail (flushing the lines vs. replacing) and that is why the other quote was less because he was doing it the right way and only way it should be done. I then told him his quote was for the exact same methodology and he paused, said he would examine my quote and call me back in a few minutes. That never happened. Go with someone who knows what they are doing and not making it up along the way. read more

Matt & Phil were absolutely terrific. We have an old house so nothing is ever easy, but they both went out of there way to do a perfect job that we would be happy with. Bell was at my house on July 18 to check my air conditioning unit. I ha to wait over 6 weeks for an appointment but now I clearly understand why. The professional, kind and helpful service I received was just fantastic. Omar was hear over an hour and answered all of our questions and took the time to explain things about the system We had a new thermostat installed and he took the time to go over and explain how it worked and what we needed to run it properly. We had a visit from Rue on the 18th to see if we could put a vent in the kitchen as the prior owners had sealed it up when they remodeled the kitchen. The work will be done in about 6 weeks. Again he took the time to explain everything and answered all our questions. I recommend this company 100%. Even if you have a month's wait, it is so worth it. f you have children then dont use this company. When it come to work completed in an a home where children are cared for this place is extremely unprofessional. I had a thermostat installed yesterday and the worker left all the nails removed from the wall all over my playroom floor. I was unaware since It was not communicated I am suppose to clean up after the worker. How is a client suppose to know what is being removed or added unless you are right there the entire time supervising the work being done. Luckily for me at always vacuum at the end of each day and noticed all the plaster from inside the wall and nails all over the floor where the thermostat Bell company had replaced. Imagine a client does not notice this a children eat plaster and nails because a client is unaware of how untidy the company is after performing the work. In over 15 years of owning my home and having many types of services have I ever experienced this. I spent almost $800 on a contract with this company to receive subpar service. When I called to complain I all I got was the person on the phone defending their worker and barely apologized. I am appalled and had to let other future clients know if you use this company and have children around they don't care. I went with a bigger company thinking it would be beyond professional and this is literally the worst service I've experienced. Once again homes with children beware! read more

We were on vacation in Florida and our lovely neighbor was feeding our cats when she noted that the furnace was off and the house temp was hovering around 46 F. Sure enough, furnace was out. We tried our old furnace guy (who we actually don't like, and were looking for a new company) and there was no answer. So we called Bell. Oh my God. SO responsive, SO professional! Truly unprofessional! My family has been a customer for 30+ years and in the past this company was great. Now they're a shell of what they used to be. We were told they'd come for an emergency repair, that the mechanic was on a call but our house was next. The guy never showed and never even called to say he wasn't going to make it. We called back today and they were rude. Saying that we need a service contract to get service at reasonable time. This is abject bullcookies! It's discriminatory. "You don't pay annually just in case something goes wrong so WE DON'T SERVICE YOU FOR DAYS BECAUSE YOUR BUSINESS IS UNIMPORTANT TO US". My grandparents are in their 90's, my grandpa is a Normandy vet and they're freezing. We have space heaters but it's not cutting it for them. We ended up calling another place and they sent a repair man no problem without any of the draconian sales pitches for a contract to give us precedent over people actually in need of emergency repair. Sometimes it takes a while to get them to come for a seasonal check-up, but when I called about a hot water problem they came the same day. Used them for a few years. They were average in service and price. What I found was they make appointments say for an oil burner service then cancel for other emergency repairs. Now that is understandable that people have emergencies. However it happened several times to me as an existing customer that made appointments a month ahead of time. It seems they chose making more money than servicing customers. They also charge set prices for certain repairs because that can't make enough money on a $30 part and an hour labor. My only contact with Bell has been with customer service and the season start up of our a/c unit. Customer service was right on the money. Everything is throughly explained and you know what to expect. With the season startup, the service technician was punctual, polite and professional with the task at hand. He explained in detail what he was going to do and afterward what he found. We are very comfortable knowing Bell is our a/c service company. read more

I called them to service my HVAC unit which does both heat and cooling because they installed the equipment for the previous owner in 2015. The first service call two tech came in to do the job. While very polite they did not seem to have a clue as to what they had been trying to accomplish and even told us they were only here for a service call and not answering of any questions. When I booked the appointment - the woman in the office told me that we could ask any question concerning the unit. They left without checking the outside unit. I called the company back and had the owner (Keith) come by to see what happened as I was not happy about the service call. Keith informed me that he would send over someone else to redo the service and also checkout the outside unit. I also asked him to give me a quote because we wanted to address an issue with the current unit in our home The second service person was much better and seemed to know what he was doing, so that was a win. I've been waiting since December for that quote to upgrade my home equipment and have not received any communication back from the company. So my guess is that they don't need the business. I wanted to share my experience because when you are looking for a company to use for your home I would use them only as a last resort, since the follow up is horrible. read more

We built a new home just 7 years ago. Bell was contracted to design and install HVAC for all 10,000sf. In the six years since we moved in, literally, everything has had to be replaced. Condensers, air handlers, duct work, thermostats...everything. We have been without AC in the dead of Summer. Leaked freon every single Summer from year one until we finally hired another company to replace the units. Today, the last air handler went south. Unfortunately, this one is located in a closet in the basement where no one goes. We found out when the wall between the unit and the laundry seeped a flood of water. And so now we have to replace the last of the original air handlers AND replace wood floors, stone floors, sheetrock, etc. A disaster from the start. There are plenty of reputable companies in Westchester. This is not one. RUN! read more

A year ago we had ductless A/C units installed by Bell and were so happy with the professional service that when our oil burner had to be replaced last month we went with Bell once again. Dave Hopper is fabulous, he explains everything and gives you options for you to decide what works best for you. Michael and Matt who did this installation were great, very patient, as I tend to ask a lot of questions. We also had our A/C units serviced by Omar. Not a very honest company. Called them to check on my hot air furnace and was told the parts where no longer available and the unit needed to be changed. Got a price of over $4500. Called another company and he put a meter on the unit and changed a part for $200!! Now that's trust worthy!!! read more
