I've got to add my 2 cents here, and I'm sorry - this is not pretty!
First of all, let me state that we've just moved INTO town from a 2 acre lot in Carp that's technically still part of the amalgamated city, but does not have the services of said city (ie: we were on well and septic; had no OC bus service; no fast internet so no wifi; bad TV signal... etc.) Then about 3 months ago, Bell installed Fibe TV in that neighbourhood, and that was GREAT! ... that is, if you live just outside the city limits. You'd think they offered such good service inside the city as well, eh? Well sorry to disappoint, but read on...
Fast forward to the current date, and I'm now living in Stittsville. Bell has been advertising near the Centrum mall and along Stittsville Main Street that they are offering Fibe TV in these neighbourhoods, for as little as $98.00 per month in a bundle including TV, telephone, and internet. Oh man, I'd *LOVE* to be getting all these services at such a great price! So of course I called to book them in. They set a date that was not as early as I would have liked, but so be it. And here's where it goes down hill. First of all, at that price you are getting very basic services, and that includes a basic house telephone line for $41.00. Not even long distance on there! And if you want to watch sports of any kind, or any of the specialty channels, or have the option of time-shifting, then you'll pay more for your TV too. AND if you want faster internet, you will also pay more for that! So, BUYER BEWARE!!!
And then more bad news on the installation side of events: on the specified date, the technician came to the house to install the services, but when he did a test to see if we get the signal, that's when he gave us the bad news: we do not! So what was the point of booking the installation?? Somebody on the phone (wherever they are, across the country) plunked in some info on their computer that indicated we should have had it. But alas, the truth will out. So we cancelled that work order, because who knows when this will be available. So we got a call from Bell through an 800 number on that same day indicating that service was supposed to be installed. I asked how that could be when the tech was just there and couldn't install the system? She replied that her computer showed that Fibe was installed close to home that very day, and should work. I told her that was not right.
That's when we saw this ad for $98 a few blocks away from home, which lead me to believe they could install it. So we re-booked it, and I wrangled a better price than the inflated price they wanted to charge for the upgraded services we wanted, and we booked a new install date. That was supposed to be today. I just got a call from Bell in the Toronto area, indicating that they cannot install the services today as planned, and they don't know when the services really can be installed, because they still have to "port" the services to our neighbourhood.
I am so done with this - you can't even call it service! So I cancelled this order too. We are now shopping the competition. I will not be Bell's guinea pig. I'm not that desperate for their services!
By this time, we are 6 weeks without TV at home, no internet, and no land line. Out of these 3 services, the only thing we are really missing is internet. But the fall is coming, and we will miss TV then! So we are shopping the competition.
This experience with Bell was a pathetic waste of time - on the phone and in their store. I really wouldn't even give them 1 star if I could give less than that!
End of rant. :-( read more
