Sometimes they have the best deals, and sometimes it's just.... meh. The clerk was helpful and cheerful, but really couldn't help us much. Best Buy has a few readers on display, but not what we were looking for. I can say that their prices on Apple products were pretty much the same as what we saw at the Apple store this week - you can get an Apple tablet the size of a reader for about $330, so I wouldn't hesitate to consider an option here and it might just beat having to go to Bayshore (where I hate the parking!) What I found odd about our visit was the lack of clientelle! It was dead quiet in there, and we had the place almost to ourselves! So the staff was attentive. No problem there! We are looking at alternatives for potentially replacing a Kobo Arc. Too bad, too, because that Arc got a LOT of use! It's the best reader we have ever seen (we really lucked in with it), but I think in the long run readers are getting hard competition from tablets, which you can read on but you can also do other stuff. And therein lies the problem: this Kobo was a pioneer among readers in that you could download other apps, like Kindle, email and Google - even chat through Google hangouts while in Wifi! Tres cool. The newer Kobos stick to being readers and have less options. So, we have been searching around to compare, and Kobo does not even make the Arc any more! That is SOoooo too bad! But our experience with this one is disappointing in a way, because it's only just over 2 years old and it just crapped out - it died. Unfortunately, Kobo help (live people) were not a huge support, suggesting a couple of things to try (to no avail), or a discount on replacement! So we are looking for a work around. We did try dropping it off at a repair shop. The technician tried plugging it in and it seems to be working now. Maybe our charging plug has bit the biscuit? In any event, I hope it will revive. It would be nice to get a couple more years of use out of it before purchasing a tablet. Yes - a tablet! That would be the alternative, because once you have all these gadgets, you are hooked!

We had arranged to meet Abdul to look at cost etc. He was very calm, patient and knowledgeable! We agreed on the plan and waited to have our order processed. Unfortunately, the computer system went down and we had to wait a couple of hours to have everything done. It certainly wasn't the fault of the staff. Abdul and the store manager, Sarah( I believe she is the manager) were absolutely fantastic! They felt terrible about our having to wait, offering to buy us food and drink. While waiting for everything to be done, I noticed Sarah and another of the staff speaking with a young man who clearly had an intellectual disability. I was blown away by how kind and patient Sarah and the other staff member were to this individual. That so rarely happens in our world. In the end, all five or six employees were helping to get our new phones ready for us. I was blown away by the service! Bravo to Sarah, Abdul and the entire staff at the Source in the Rideau Centre!! For the next one and a half hours, he went over, above and beyond to resolve my issue - and he did. This pandemic had made me realize that - as much as I love the convenience of online shopping - there's something to be said about the experience of a brick and mortar store, and dealing with a store employee that offers great customer service. And, that's exactly what I got from this store. And, the price was exactly the same as Amazon. Shop local. Shop small business. One less dollar to Bezos and company.

Small shop in Carlingwood Mall that sells cellphones and cellphone accessories. They also repair…read morecellphones and do other cellphone-related services. I came to get a screen protector and have it installed. It came out to $20 plus taxes. Not too expensive and the guy did a good job. Although for some reason the first screen protector he tried to put on didn't work and he had to remove it and try again with a new one, lol. He was also talking on his own cellphone using the speakerphone function while he was installing my screen protector. He was speaking in a language I don't understand so not sure if it was a business call or a personal call. The conversation sounded chill and didn't sound like anything urgent. I was concerned he wasn't concentrating on installing the screen protector on my phone and would mess up (I've seen some pretty shoddy jobs with screen protector installations on my friends' phones from other stores). Luckily he did a good job and it looks great. No bubbles. I would recommend this shop to install a screen protector (if you don't mind if the worker is on the phone talking to someone else while serving you, lol). The store is near the Food Court, next to the mall entrance of Loblaws. Lots of free parking in the Carlingwood Mall parking lot. Review #74 (2026)
