So bad service, they don't respect their customers. And they overcharge everything, I regret buying from this store.

Factory Direct - Pool and barbeque accessories

Factory Direct

This Factory Direct was in the same plaza as a Winners store that I frequented every other day…read moreduring my time in Ottawa. It is deadly for me to go into any Factory Direct because I love everything that I see. This store was no different. There was lots of parking in this plaza. I backed into a spot and headed over. It's to the right of Winners when you're facing both stores. I spent a good hour checking this store out. I had a great time and bought a bunch of items. This store is deep. You can find everything from items that are shown on TV late at night when you have nothing better to do, to televisions and small appliances. I saw a cheap Chia pet-like product. I decided to try it out. It needs a lot of water. Mine is a monkey that is supposed to grow grass on its head. It's supposed to take a couple of weeks to see growth, so we'll see how it goes. So far, it has been enjoyable. There are lots of quirky items in this store that are also practical. I got a mini umbrella for my phone that comes with a kickstand. The idea is to provide shade for your phone so that it doesn't overheat when you're using it outside. My phone and I are alike. We overheat when it's hot and humid outside, which was the case while I was in Ottawa. This mini umbrella was purple, so it was a no-brainer move for me to get it. You know what? It works. The curved handled hooked around my PopSocket and actually cooled my phone down. The best item that I got was an attach-a-bag strap that hooks on to your luggage handle and drapes over your luggage. It is the best. I had more than one bag strapped on to my luggage as I took the elevator down to the hotel parking lot the day that I checked out. It was awesome! I used it on my most recent trip to the Twin Cities. It freed up my hands and was such a helper. It was the best $4 investment! If you like candy, there isn't any shortage at this store. I didn't get any, but it was mesmerizing seeing everything from Milka to Toblerone. The selection was impressive and prices were decent. Neon signs. Laptops. Mice (I was told recently that the shift is towards saying mouses, which sounds weird to me). Power bars. There isn't anything you can't find in this store. I have a weakness for small appliances. It was cool seeing ice cream makers, shaved ice machines, waffle makers, rice cookers, and more at this store. So much fun at affordable prices! I also ended up getting a small container of Vaseline with aloe for my lips. It works great for the massive price of $1. I had the most pleasant woman at the checkout. I'm not sure why folks have indicated that staff were rude. This woman asked if I had found everything that I wanted. I sure did and bought stuff that I didn't even know that I needed! I paid with a credit card. The transaction went through without a hitch. Because I had done quite a bit of damage, I got a huge plastic bag for free. Yay! I should visit Factory Direct more often. I had such a great shopping experience here. The travel section, in particular, had great finds that I wasn't expecting. It's a great store with decent prices. I'd definitely return again. (308)

Had to run 4 speaker wires from controller in unfinished basement to the kitchen, which was being renovated and installer told he could cut holes anywhere as needed. Young inexperienced wire puller could not tell me best locations for speakers and ran into issues, so called in Supervisor, who I nearly kicked out of my home for being so rude as I messed up his schedule and he was told the ceiling was open. So we go things wired and when ceiling was repaired 2 gents came in to install the gear. They left a couple of greasy thumb prints on my new ceiling, and didn't have the proper tool to full cut out one speaker hole, which which my contractor completed. I don't begrudge folks making money, but for the few hours of installation effort, I paid just under $1,000 for a simple, non-complex job. And SAV does not take a cut of that I'm told, so contractors are being paid crazy amounts. Should have negotiated this on a per hour basis, perhaps you can.....

One room is set up with a sample of a family entertainment centre, complete with easy-boy chairs, and looks just like what you'd want the movies to be - so comfortable. One set of seats even rumbles and shakes when the movie is showing a bumpy road! Ok, maybe this is a bit over the top for most of us, me included! But can you imagine watching the Olympics here?!! They do sell stereo equipment, but I think their TV selection is their big movers and shakers. Very impressive! I bought a gift certificate there. Very convenient!

My view consisted of seeing the Starbucks cafe that I visited every day. I could also see this Best Buy across from the cafe. After picking up a grande chocolate cream cold brew as my birthday perk, I parked in the Best Buy lot and consumed it immediately. It was so good. I then got out of the car and headed inside this store. When you look at this store's exterior, it has that typical pointy blue box look. This store has probably been around for at least ten years. However, when you walk into this store, it's stunningly beautiful. I loved looking at the Marshall speakers and headsets. The display was appealing and you could press buttons to check out the sound coming out of these devices. I saw weird items, such as self-cleaning water bottles that were on sale. There were two models and the cheaper one was going for $89 after a $10 price reduction. Yikes! I hope that they self-clean well for that price. I found a Casemate chain phone wristlet. It looked cool classing up your phone. I kind of like the extra security of having the chain around your wrist. Although my phone case does have a PopSocket, I have dropped my phone a bunch of times because I can be a klutz. This wristlet was my present to me. I browsed some more. I like that associates here don't approach you to ask if you need any help. Leave me be to explore. If I have questions, I will hunt you down. My usual routine is to check out the Google Pixel section. I am happy with my 6a phone, but like looking at the newer 7a and 7 Pro models. The Google Pixel Watch is also nice to look at. I went to pay for my item. I had a nice man helping me with my transaction. I learned that my wristlet was on sale and that $14 was knocked off the regular price. Yay! I paid with a credit card. The transaction was successful. I thanked the man, grabbed my item, and headed to my car. It was straightforward adding this accessory to my phone case. It's stylish and functional. It's awesome! I enjoyed shopping here. I'd return when I'm in the area again. (276)

Sometimes they have the best deals, and sometimes it's just.... meh. The clerk was helpful and cheerful, but really couldn't help us much. Best Buy has a few readers on display, but not what we were looking for. I can say that their prices on Apple products were pretty much the same as what we saw at the Apple store this week - you can get an Apple tablet the size of a reader for about $330, so I wouldn't hesitate to consider an option here and it might just beat having to go to Bayshore (where I hate the parking!) What I found odd about our visit was the lack of clientelle! It was dead quiet in there, and we had the place almost to ourselves! So the staff was attentive. No problem there! We are looking at alternatives for potentially replacing a Kobo Arc. Too bad, too, because that Arc got a LOT of use! It's the best reader we have ever seen (we really lucked in with it), but I think in the long run readers are getting hard competition from tablets, which you can read on but you can also do other stuff. And therein lies the problem: this Kobo was a pioneer among readers in that you could download other apps, like Kindle, email and Google - even chat through Google hangouts while in Wifi! Tres cool. The newer Kobos stick to being readers and have less options. So, we have been searching around to compare, and Kobo does not even make the Arc any more! That is SOoooo too bad! But our experience with this one is disappointing in a way, because it's only just over 2 years old and it just crapped out - it died. Unfortunately, Kobo help (live people) were not a huge support, suggesting a couple of things to try (to no avail), or a discount on replacement! So we are looking for a work around. We did try dropping it off at a repair shop. The technician tried plugging it in and it seems to be working now. Maybe our charging plug has bit the biscuit? In any event, I hope it will revive. It would be nice to get a couple more years of use out of it before purchasing a tablet. Yes - a tablet! That would be the alternative, because once you have all these gadgets, you are hooked!
