The food is delicious and always a bargain! We make a special trip by to carry out food even when we don't have anyone in the hospital!

The chicken teriyaki at the Japanese restaurant was not what I expected, but really good! The portion was very small, so I had to go back and get sushi for a full meal. The beef pho was very rich in flavor and overall everything was executed well. Another fun thing about this area is the ice cream place next door which had really quality ice cream! Would recommend!

Then it's hard to drink just one. I love Brussel sprouts. I crave them. Especially Strang's. The sweet and savory little smackers are fantastic. And there's a lot of them. They fill me up. Easy ordering from the ap. But, if you don't like ordering from an ap, the employee at the Brussels sprouts place (starts with an A, the very back), will get snippy and snap: "You have to use the ap. If it doesn't work, go to the guy standing by the bar." And swish you away. That kind of ruined the ambiance. Barring that, I have my rotation: Beer Kitchen's zucchini fries: a stack of breaded zucchini sticks laid in a Jenga type tower. Beer Kitchen also has pretzel sticks. They are huge! But the sauce is a mustard sauce, (yuck) some kind of cheese sauce, and an apple sliver. These minus mustard sauce are on my rotation. As for desserts, I bought another mocktail. Might as well, right. 4 stars for the snippy employee.

Being from down south gumbo is a staple in the southern culture so it is always fun to try other states interpretation of it. I will give the gumbo 10/10. The gumbo had a kick to it , which is how I like it. The seafood in the gumbo taste fresh, the chicken had a nice pepper sear on it which tied in the flavors. Overall I appreciate the dedication to the flavors and how they blended together. Shortly afterwards I had chicken, greens, Mac and Cheese, yams with a sweet potato cornbread. Yams, Mac and cheese, greens too delicious. The chicken was lightly seasoned, definitely a universal piece but had a good crunch. The sweet potato cornbread MY GOODNESS.,, box it up and sell it across the sea. It is literally mouth watering. The lemonade is so sweet and refreshing. The German chocolate cake was delicious as well. Carefully curated! Oh and the music, r&b, will have you swaying while eating. It's a vibe.

Reservations are available here - not necessary but depending on the day/time, you may need to wait a bit before being seated if you don't. The restaurant is rustic with farmhouse-style (hence the name!) seating. There is plenty of natural light from their street-facing windows, and if the weather's right, they have a lovely side patio. The food portions are generous and definitely shareable if your table has a few things they'd like to try! Pictured here is the Chicken n Shortstack with a chili-maple reduction and the lemon-lime marinated watermelon. The restaurant features locally-sourced ingredients and highlights them on blackboards through the restaurant. Because of this, their menu can sometimes shift and change!

The cafeteria offered a salad bar, soups, a grill area, a pasta bar, Chick-fil-A sandwiches and grab-and-go items during my lunch visit. I opted for the Friday lunch special at the grill area, which was a Philly cheesesteak with toppings. I also added the sweet potato fries for a total with tax of just $7.76. The cheesesteak sandwich was packed with plenty of moist, but very salty meat with tasty toppings and cheese on a buttered, but over-toasted 8" bun. The sweet potato fries were perfectly cooked and tasty - nice! I found the service at the grill was somewhat inefficient and slow, but the service at the checkout area was friendly and efficient. One of the better features of this cafeteria was the spacious and clean dining area with plenty of natural light, a great view of the landscaped patio area, but no background music. A member of the staff cleaned the dining area before the lunch rush - nice! The medical center has a strict photo policy, which included a visit from the cafeteria manager, a hospital manager and two members of security. Yikes! I respect their policy, so I rechecked my pictures to ensure they do not show patients or employees (which was their concern). Overall, A-OK.

We shared some fried green tomatoes and I had 2 piece dark snack and a side of potato salad. My husband had a 2 piece dinner with beans and coleslaw. We also shared a slice of their chocolate brownie "pie". I loved that the tomatoes were crispy and delicious. I would have liked them even more if they'd been sliced thicker. The chicken had a nice spice, very flavorful and juicy. If you like a crunchy coating though, this may not be your place. It is fried but not sure it is battered. The beans tasted like Bush's or some other canned beans--tasty, but not special. The potato salad tasted homemade and my husband enjoyed the coleslaw. The pie was also good, and not overly sweet. We were impressed by the price, we had an appetizer, dessert, drinks, and we both ate for under $40 with a tip! We will go back and I would recommend it if you are looking for a laid back casual chicken dinner with a touch of heat.
