Really awful experience paid 10.90 for a 89.00 order, items were just too big. Then they took off 12.95 from my return 24 bucks and nothing to show for it. I can control where I spend my money. This review is for the Mansfield Texas store only. I received a gift card for Christmas 2025 for Belk. I went into the store at the end of February to go shopping because I wanted to use the gift card. I found a pair of lucky jeans that I wanted, but sadly they didn't have my size. The ticket price said they were $99 but the sign in the store said that they were $69.99. I took a picture of the jeans and the sign and I went to the register to ask about having them order my size. I inquired about this process and was told that they did have them available and they could order them for me and then they would ship them to my house. She went to bring up the total and she told me that it would be $99 plus tax. I told her no the jeans are on sale for $69.99 and I showed her the picture of the jeans. She said well that's probably because it's part of the coupon sale. I did inform her that no, according to the fine print on the coupon, lucky was a brand that was not part of the coupon sale. Then she said well sometimes there's price differences between what's in the store and what's online. I told her yes, but I shouldn't be penalized because you don't have my size in the store. I should be treated exactly the same as anybody else that is shopping in the store. Either the manager or possibly the assistant manager, came by and heard our conversation and asked what the problem was and I told her that I was being charged $30 more because I was having to order my jeans online and not actually purchasing them that day in the store. She politely said oh no, we will of course sell them to you for the price they are. I said thank you, and we continued with the transaction. The salesclerk then rang up the jeans at $69.99 plus tax. I went to pay and handed her my gift card and she said oh no you cannot use a gift card when you're ordering online it has to be a credit card or a debit card only. I looked at her confused and asked her to repeat what she just said. She said yeah you can't use a gift card if you're ordering online in the store. Because there's no way to charge anything with a gift card. I informed her that well, even if I was using a credit card or a debit card, you wouldn't be charging my card at the point of sale/order --you would only charge it once it leaves the warehouse. That is stated very specifically on your website. So her argument /reasoning doesn't hold any water. I told her I know for a fact this is not true, because I've done it in the past. My whole life is a series of ordering things online in the store because no one ever has my size. And I VERY frequently will use a gift card to make the purchase/order. But she dug her heels in and insisted it couldn't be done. Another sales lady came over and said the same thing and then that manager or assistant manager came back and she said the same thing --absolutely not. You cannot use a gift card to make an order online in the store. I told them to cancel the sale and then they asked why I didn't want the jeans and I said are you serious? Really? You guys have not given me one logical reason on why I cannot use a Belk gift card to order something online at the Belk store.. the gift card has already been bought and paid for. But they wouldn't hear it. I left the store and called the customer service line and inquired about this process and was told multiple times that they were incorrect in the store and that I was the one who was correct. You absolutely can use a gift card to order something in the store online. They also apologized for the fact that they tried to charge me $30 more for the jeans because they didn't have my size. I went home, went online and ordered the jeans and guess how I paid? Wait for it wait for it... with a gift card. The jeans arrived and they're great. They fit great but I'm returning them because I no longer want them. I'm taking them to the store with my receipt showing how I paid and I'm returning them to that manager. I have also already typed up and mailed off my letter to the actual corporate offices, detailing my entire experience and I'm forwarding them the email from the manager of the store who wrote me after I called customer service. Even after she was spoken to by customer service-she still said the same thing...that you cannot use a gift card to make an online order in the store. So I'm forwarding that email to the corporate offices. In an era when brick and mortar stores are going out of business every single year because people want to shop online--I would think that stores would do everything humanly possible to try to keep the customers inside the store. But not this store. No sir. Oh, and by the way, when I bought the jeans, I had to pay the $99.00. That's just wrong because I should've been able to do this whole process in the store and only pay $69.99. So please baware and steer clear of the Belk store in Mansfield TX. read more

I went into the store to buy a Tuxedo. Joellen measured me and placed the order because the store doesn't carry any wool Tux's. She got my email wrong and because of that, they couldn't notify me that the order was canceled. I finally got through to customer service who located the original order and fixed the mistake. They placed the order a second time and then today I received notice that this order was also canceled. Customer service said there's nothing they can do because it's a "system problem" and there's noone who can fix it. DO NOT SHOP HERE. Several items UNWEARABLE as Bust and Shoulder measurements INCHES SMALLER than what fits size Large according to Belk Size Chart AND smaller than other Belk dresses and tops. Customer Service said only option was to pay $11 return shipping for EACH DEFECTIVE ITEM. I ordered online with an in-store pickup. They give you a $5 off coupon when you pick up your order that you have to use that day or the next. I ended up having to stand in line again to get the coupon applied to what I had just purchased in the store. On my way out of the store I heard clanging noises coming from my in-store pickup bag which was sealed shut. I decided to open it and saw that they had given me a damaged box of silverware so a spoon was just floating around in the bag. I had to ask them to get me an undamaged item from the shelf to replace it. C'mon Belk--do better!! I reached out to FedEx attempting to mitigate and hold the package or redirect it. I was told by FedEx verbally and also by chat that I had to contact the shipper contacted the shipper. About customer service told me that I needed to call FedEx back kept me on the phone for around 25 minutes apologizing back to FedEx after I had already told them at the beginning of the conversation I had started with FedEx. I was denied the ability to speak once finally granted the ability to supervisor I told that I had to download a FedEx application to my phone, which was not applicable in order to change a delivery profile that I don't even have with FedEx after the terrible customer service I just asked for a full refund and they can figure out whatever they need to figure out own package. read more

Belk lewers you to their website by offering an item on the web cheaper than all the other competitors when in fact they do not have the item and will cancel your order . This happened to me a few years back so I never shopped there again, however, I recently made a purchase and received no confirmation email or anything. After Trying to figure out today what's going on , I see that my order has been cancelled, no email or anything once again . My husband found a pair of sketchers he wanted at a local store. Unfortunately they were not available in his size. After doing an online search the sneakers showed available at Belk.com. A bad shadow for things to come. Belk's put itself on the market for a buyout a couple of months ago and needless to say, when this occurs, there is always an attempt to maximize profits. Granted a deal was made last week but I experienced the effect today. Wanted to get a couple of jeans for my son who lives in Atlanta. He told us was he wanted and Belks was having a sale so it seemed like a good fit. Started out that jeans are not in the same area as mens slacks but had to wait till the person in menswear got of the phone to direct up to the correct location. Could not find the sizes we needed so my wife walked over to a different section and the guy told her that due to the size, would probably have to be ordered as a special order but to go ahead and find a pair and bring it over and he would scan it in and correct the entry till we got what we needed. To show you how busy it was, it was dead and he was restocking items We went back and we found the appropriate jeans but it ended up with me, sitting on the floor in a department store, going through each item on the bottom shelf to find what we needed. The bins were disorganized and no order and apparently, no one had tried to instill order in some time I hope this is not the deathnel for what used to be one of the best department stores in the South. OMG! I ordered a pair of hiking shoes from Belk 10 days ago from their online store, shipping from North Carolina to Colorado. Just checked the Fed Ex site and it's telling my my shoes aren't going to be delivered until next Wednesday, another full week away. BEWARE of BELK!!!!! Don't buy anything online from Belk! I ordered a dress online and paid $73.90 (including taxes). The dress didn't fit right so I returned it. I was supposed to receive a refund of $63.95 (they charge $9.95 for the return shipping!). I only received a refund for $53.38. I called their customer service number requesting a $10 refund. Their customer service number is outsourced to a foreign company. On my first call I was hung up on after 11 minutes and my second call the woman didn't seem to understand the issue. She offered to give me a 15% discount on my next purchase and said she couldn't help me receive the $10 refund, it was a difficult conversation with the language barrier. I said I don't want a 15% discount, I want a refund for $10 and that if I didn't receive it (which they clearly seem incapable of doing), I was going to post negative reviews online. read more

I went to buy shoes for an event I had finished running a 6 mile trail race under the rain at Oak Mountain Park. I stopped at High Mountain Outfitters to buy some clothes and change (they get 5 stars and thank you to the wonderful young ladies who allowed me to change). Afterwards, I took advantage that I was in Birmingham and went to buy shoes to see if I could find shiny ones pinkish color. I wasn't able so I facetimed my husband and we agree on some black shoes, but i got two right shoes different sizes. This seems to me racist because I am Hispanic and I was not dressed nice to go shopping and I was cold, hungry, wet and muddy. My money still worth the same as anybody else's. Belk is (was probably because they won't be there is 2-3 years) the only decent department store in our mall. It was always a treat to go to Belk. I do enjoy some of the higher end brands they carry. I believe the company was sold to someone up north a few years ago and it was never the same. Our Belk has maybe 5 people working the entire store. You have to go to jewelry or cosmetics to find a cashier. A few times I've left and bought the same item from Nordstrom or cosmetics website because a cashier wasn't available and Belk's e-commerce is poorly developed. it is a sad tale for what was once a wonderful place to shop. Too much online competition to justify the payroll needed for a fully staffed store. Much of the merchandise is "old lady". I purchased myself a birthday gift on November the 18th, it was supposed to be delivered on November the 22nd period on November 25th I contacted Belk and let them know that I had not received my order and there was no status update on fedex. At that time I told them to just refund my product. Belk said that I would need to wait until December 3rd to initiate a claim. I called back on December the 3rd to start my claim. On December 3rd I spoke to a supervisor. I gave it a week and called back again on December 10th and spoke to another supervisor who said my claim was still in process. I called back Again on December the 15th and at that time I was told that I needed to file a claim through fedex. I told them that made no sense because I am not the one who sent the product peri called fedex anyway and got my claim number And I sent them the clean number as I was instructed to do. After another 10 days I still had not heard anything about my claim and sent a message on Facebook, at that time I was told that because there's a complexity of my case that it would take some time period I still have not received any update about my refund. read more

Multiple generations of my family have been shopping at Belks for 50+ years, have always loved their products and trusted their brand. Have owned a Belk Reward card forever! Never had cause to complain until now. I ordered a Christmas gift online. The email order confirmation had a USPS invalid tracking number. The item was never received. Belk advised me that my order was "through their marketplace" and there was nothing they could do, I would need to go directly to the marketplace seller. No response from the seller to my multiple emails. After many emails and conversations with Belks, I still have no item and they are refusing to give me credit on my credit card. This location is always clean and organized. I have always had ease shopping here and if I ever need help or assistance, help is never far away. They have a great deals and sales often which is when I like to shop here. Their shoe selection leaves a lot of wanting for women with large feet as they don't have much in stock for any size 11 women shoes. I am always told we can order it online for you but sometimes you just need to try a shoe on before you purchase it. So while this is nice it just doesn't fit my needs. I went in yesterday looking for some luggage... What used to be pretty recognizable brands such as Samosonite, wasn't really anywhere to be found. While this location boasts an expansive "home / housewares" section, make-up & fragrance, it's just really a lot of merchandise packed in any space they can put it. Upon looking at the luggage, which was totally a mess, I didn't see anything that caught my eye. Not to mention, it was a "ghost town." I didn't see any other customers or associates...& this was around 12 PM. Needless to say, I walked out of the department (& the store) empty-handed. The good thing about Belk is they ALWAYS have sales & ALWAYS have clearance areas. Back in the day, you wouldn't catch me shopping for clothes, shoes or accessories anywhere but at Belk.
