Beef Broccoli with steamed rice
Stephanie N.

This place has a bunch of not so great reviews so we gave it a chance any way! The wait was long but it seems like they'd are operating with a low number of staff (as any small business is at this moment). They give a lot of food for the price. Our food came out fresh and steaming. It was good and we will come back. The older woman who took our order was extremely nice and laughed a bit with me. She knew it was my first time and treated me very good.

Pretty clean. Good food. Big menu. They offer brown rice and two size options for some dishes. So far, the one we like best in the area.

Asian Star is a casual spot for Chinese takeout/delivery....And, hands down one of the best in the…read moreFt. Washington area! Just my luck. I happen to stop here before heading back to DC for lunch. I was craving Chinese carryout .... Something quick and simple ....like Chicken Waangs & Mumbo sauce. Yes, don't judge...Lol. This is something you know you can just about find a dime or dozen...on every block at various carryouts in DC, but I noticed that Chinese carryouts are definitely far and few in the Fort Washington area. So...Thank goodness I found this place before heading back home. It is located in a shopping center off of Route 210 & Old Ft Road. Although, not much to look at on the outside or inside, this place is legit. The food is the bomb and hellacious!! I walked in and was greeted by a lady behind a plexiglass counter and asked if they had "Waangs and Mumbo Sauce" of course they did not. I almost started to turn away and leave, but so glad I didn't. Instead, I asked about popular dishes that they were known for and she mentioned the salt and pepper shrimp was popular, the egg foo young, and typical dishes like chicken with broccoli and combo lo mein. So I decided to order the salt and pepper shrimp, combination, egg, foo, young and a general Tso chicken. The order was prepared relatively fast and well packed for my long drive back to DC. WELL....Let me just say this right now..... I knew the food was going to be bangin' (good) just from the smells alone coming from the bag before I even left the store. The smells and aroma of garlic, salt, spices, gravy and peppers....were screaming through the bag! I couldn't wait to get home. Each dish was well prepared, fresh and super-seasoned! I was quite surprised both by the layers of flavors in each dish. The food even remained hot and most of the fried items remained crispy...not soggy or mushy. I must say I did not expect much from this restaurant at the time of ordering, but they proved me wrong. I thoroughly enjoyed everything. In all, Asian Star gets "Two Thumbs Up!" from me! They offer a large menu selection of items including appetizers, noodle/rice dishes, vegetarian options and chef's specials. Given the customer service, large menu selection, price point and taste of their eats.... You can't go wrong with this place. It rivals any popular DC carryout any day.....hands down!! I definitely recommend this place and will be back when in the area!

First off I want to start off by saying the staff here was incredible. I was with my family and did…read morenot have the opportunity to get names, but every single staff member I saw was working hard, diligently, and with haste. Our server immediately greeted us with a great big smile, she took our drink orders and described some of the drinks to us. We put in an order for 2 spring rolls and 2 eggs rolls which were to die for. Perfectly crunchy, crispy, and full of flavor with great dipping sauce! They came out piping hot and delicious. I also got egg drop soup which simply cannot be beat. The soup was not too thick and not too thin or watery. The green onions were fresh. The crisped wontons had just the right amount of crunch. Together the dish was savory and delightfully flavorful. Now, my guest can often be difficult to please (as food must be extremely specific), but it's not ever usually a problem that a "good restaurant" can't handle. They handled it perfectly. We got the chicken with two winter veg, no sauce or mushrooms and add water chestnuts. It came out exactly that way. Perfect. Not only perfect but steamed to perfection. I also got the chicken w winter veggies--with sauce-- which is a brown gravy. What can I say OTHER than it was also perfect!! The meat was cooked to tender, not dry. The veggies were bright and deliciously tender, but still had a gentle crunch (the ultimate dish style!). My husband got the orange chicken and the spice was absolutely divine. The orange chicken sauce was pungent and sweet. If you like heat, this one is for you!! The chicken was crispy under the layer of aromatic, REAL orange flavored sauce. My other guest got the Mandarin combination plate, which featured a host of veggies, surf and turf meats, and a spicy brown sauce on top. Again, meat and veg cooked to perfect tenderness, with the veggies snapping and crunching just enough but tender enough to enjoy. Drinks were a teapot for the table (which may have been a bit strong for my guests, but I drank it!) A coconut punch (non alcoholic), which is a virgin iced Pina Colada. I didn't expect that, but I still guzzled it down. It came in a parrot glass, too!! So fun!! The rest of the table got coke and tea and were just as good. (Yes I tried everything). And we came here because we've been seeing their really amazing TikToks and want to contribute to bringing this WONDERFUL restaurant back into the folds of the community and wrap them in support. I'd give them 10 stars if I could.

I LOVE their steak and cheese egg roll but damnnnn $5 is a lot. I still like their hot and sour soup. The general tso's is my partner's go-to, but it's a solid 3, at best. Occasionally, we will order it and it will be like a 4.5 because they've got somebody in the kitchen who really cares, but for the most part it's just fine. I get the shrimp with lobster sauce a lot because it's one of my favorites and I like the way the flavor mixes with the rice. Their fried rice, as a whole, is not that good. They have a few tables set up inside, I rarely see people eating there, but it's a nice place to wait. I've never had to wait more than 15 minutes for my order to be ready, which I greatly appreciate. There is parking right in front and on the side. Evenings and weekends, the front parking can be a little crazy because of the neighboring businesses, but it's still not a huge issue. Honestly, what I appreciate most about this location is the service and the drink offerings. This is definitely the best service I've had at a carryout in this area.
