Completely worth the wait! I am so pleased with the result of my project. Chris came out and provided a consultation to understand what I had in mind. He asked great questions about how I intended to use the space, what types of plants and designs I liked and also took into account how much maintenance I wanted to do moving forward. He created a wonderful design based on our initial discussion. I got on the schedule and waited.....and then started changing my mind about aspects of the design. A few months later, Chris was back out before the start of the job where I walked him through all of the changes. He was super accommodating! He quickly turned around the revised quotes and we got started. His crew would arrive each morning, put in a full day (singing throughout...with a great voice too!) and leave the site spotless..every single day. As the project got underway, I couldn't help but add a few more projects to the list, trying to take advantage of having access to such talented professionals! Without hesitation, I would use them again (actually have a quote pending) and would highly recommend to friends and family. This review is for two jobs in Spring/Summer of 2021: The rebuilding of a retention wall that had a large crack in it, filling and leveling some of the grading on the front lawn and adding a walking path to connect the backyard with the driveway. This company has a professional crew and owner. Communication is consistent. In fact, due to the high demand for landscapers and low supplies available for concrete at the time (Fall 2020-Summer 2021 at least), there was a small delay in getting my jobs done. However, the owner communicated when work would start and be completed and communicated if the timeline would change. The owner also returns calls and emails in a timely manner. In addition, I am very pleased with the work. Now I have someone to go to get landscaping completed in the backyard when the time comes. read more

After several months and multiple estimates Chris from Behr Landscape was able to give the s a color coded diagram with everything I wanted and more. We have received many compliments from neighbors, family, friends, and people just walking by our home. We love the beautiful Japanese maple tree, boulders and fairy lights that were added to our original plans. We love sitting on our porch and looking at the landscape. Even with these additions the cost was reasonable and close to our other estimates that didn't include them. We needed a new retaining wall to hold back our sliding hillside, and a complete re-do of old landscaping that was in place from the previous owner(s). We were struggling to find someone willing to drive to our reasonably remote location, until we contacted Behr Landscaping. How strange? Short version: Chris came out and spent about 30 minutes with us but never followed up with an estimate. Entire story: I called a was impressed with the professional lady who answered the phone so I agreed to wait a few weeks for their first available appointment. I received another call a few days before my appointment to confirm. Chris showed up in a nice clean truck, gave us a bunch of great ideas and we really thought that we'd found the right one. A week or so goes by and no call or email with the estimate. I give it a few more days and send them a message through Yelp. I can't say for sure if I called and left a mesaage or not but I shouldn't have to be the one to call and do follow ups. As you can see from my picture, no response! Two months later... To add insult to injury, I spoke to my next door neighbor and she said that Chris recently came out to their house and provided them with an estimate. And he still didn't remember that he was supposed to provide us with an estimate? So strange that he would spend the time that he did with us to just not follow through and follow up. I needed to have all vegetation removed from my front, side and backyards and had blueprints a landscape architect prepared for me last year. I interviewed a number of local licensed landscape contractors and was impressed with how Chris Behrens, the owner, took the time to study the blueprints, and with the detailed estimate he provided a few days later. His price was competitive, his license is valid with no issues, and the photos on his website looked great, so I chose Behr Landscape Construction for the job. Chris and his crew showed up on-time and on-schedule each day, neatly removed my old plants and weeds, and thoroughly covered all areas in weed cloth. My blueprints called for some pretty unusual plants, and Chris tracked them all down and installed them exactly as specified, complete with drip irrigation. When there was a mix-up on the stones I wanted for my pathways, Chris made it right without any hassles. I'm very happy with the new landscaping, and the plants are beautiful. Chris has a mellow, friendly demeanor, is extremely knowledgeable about plants, and he and his crew do first-rate, high quality work. Chris did a great job designing a drought resistant front yard that looks great especially at night with fantastic accent lighting. His crew worked quickly and efficiently and cleaned everything up after planting, dropping gravel and putting in a walkway. I had to remove and replace my front walkway to facilitate plumbing repairs. The plumber gave me an estimate to remove the walkway, but I thought the estimate was very high. Behr Landscape Construction is located in my neighborhood, so I asked the owner, Chris, to give me two quotes: one to remove the walkway and one to replace the walkway. His quote to remove the walkway was about 1/3 the plumber's quote and his quote to replace the walkway was very competitive with other quotes. My front walkway was removed quickly and efficiently. The workers were prompt, friendly, and courteous. They cleaned up after themselves every day. I had the plumber repair my plumbing before the walkway was replaced. I had several design ideas for the walkway and Chris incorporated my ideas into the final design. The new walkway was poured, but it did not meet Chris' standards of excellence, so he immediately offered to remove and replace the walkway again--at no additional cost to me. The best landscape design company in the area! We had our backyard completely redone. They did stamped concrete, artificial turf, a garden area, drought tolerant plants and built our 2 pergolas. Chris and his team were very professional and created a space we love to spend time in. In our initial consultation he listened to everything we wanted for our project and then worked with us to find solutions that fit our budget without sacrificing the style of the overall design. Work took considerably longer than promised. Workers showed up for work sporadically. Work had to be redone, clean up was not done. Materials were thrown behind my shed and over the hill. Materials were not completely used or installed but disregarded. Compaction of DG was not done. Irrigation hose left exposed. Water main was cut and leaked for weeks before I finally found the leak. Promised a great artificial lawn, it looks like a bad carpet job. Behr used old irrigation (10 years old) for new lawn, pipe burst within a month of installation. I recently hired Chris to help me with the removal of my grass out front and replacing it with a drought tolerant design. I was very picky but Chris stayed very patient and helped me every step of the way. I had a lot of ideas but needed Chris to bring it all together for the final design. I just had work wrapped up on my backyard landscape project, by Behr Landscaping. It included removal of old turf, some sprinkler redesign, trenching, grading and installation of a lot of flagstone and some sod. Chris developed the ideas we had for the project and designed a great plan. The foreman, Juan, Chris and his crew implemented the plan perfectly. We have a large lot and this will go along way in "taming" a good deal of it. The work was done in a timely fashion with good attention to detail. Ideas developed as we went were implemented, no problem. I've had a lot of frustration in the home improvement arena before (finding and hiring various contractors). Not so with Chris. Enjoyed the process at each phase. Reasonable folks in both rates and interactions. I can enjoy my backyard again. I've gotten a lot of compliments already and I'm sure there'll be more. Looking for a professional landscaper is no easy task! I know firsthand. So when I found Chris, he not only returned phone calls promptly but he and his team pretty much exceeded every expectation I had and more! I don't do reviews. This is my first ever because they are so deserving of it. They are reliable, trustworthy, professional, respectful and most important to me, Chris actually LISTENED to our needs and wants AND worked with our budget constraints. Recently I had Chris and his crew completely redo the embankment in my back yard. They added a small wall halfway up the hill with a path above it so that I could easily care for the beautiful, drought friendly planting. I didn't know there were so many beautiful flowering plants available. Chris designs and supervises every aspect of the landscaping - all the plants have individual drip. Chris and crew recently completed total landscaping of the front, back and side spaces surrounding my small home. My new home literally sat in a pile of gravel with no topsoil and I had not a clue as to how to make the outside space something I would enjoy looking at as well as a place to spend time in. (I am an "outdoor" person and my yard is probably more important to me than the inside of my home.) The only thing I was sure about was a small fenced yard in the back for my dogs and some roses; aside from that, I just knew I wanted something beautiful to behold. He suggested a drought-tolerant front yard on a drip system and then drew up a plan that incorporated my "must-haves" and much, much more.
