The wait was a little longer than we'd expect but we believe they were understaffed for the New Year's. We started with the vegetable eggrolls that the table next to us ordered 2 rounds of, so we had experience that. Eggrolls had a great crisp and the inside melted in your mouth. The Asian dip doubled for this dish and the fries which I loved. The tomato soup was extra creamy along with grilled cheese & fries. Definitely a big dish for one sitting but the soup was top 5 our favorite. My chicken crab dish was delicious and packed a big seafood punch. Do wish it had more crab chunks within the cream sauce. Few big pieces of juicy chicken were submerged under delicious rice & asparagus. This meal was super filling & satisfying on many levels.

Driving through the dilapidated town, we became trepidatious about what we would find. Turns out the Brickyard is a shining diamond in the middle of a pile of ordinary coal. The interior is very attractive and modern. The small plates menu is - to our DC-area sensibilities - quite inexpensive. We ordered two different bruschetta, two different cheeses, two different salads, and an order of prosciutto (for the man). Everything was delicious, and the servings were much larger than we thought they would be. We were very happy to have picked this place out and it was well worth the detour off the highway.

Most of the sides are now "premium" sides, which means an upcharge for items like French fries or a salad which, seems to me should be part of a dinner when you are already paying a decent price for a dinner. The salad consisted of a few pieces of wilted spring mix, two pieces of red onion, and two small tomatoes that were past their prime (all for an upcharge). My husbands fish looked like a children's portion. And the macaroni and cheese was literally two tablespoons. We got a pizza to go, which on the menu looks like $4.50 for all three toppings, but, when the bill came it was$13.50, making the pizza $35.00!!! Crazy!!!
