Came here for dinner. Ordered the escargot ($18) and mussels ($26) to share for the appetizers. The escargot had a great flavor, but were quite small and not super tender. The mussels were solid, but weren't anything super outstanding. For my entree, I got the octopus ($32). The octopus was yummy and tender. There was a good amount of octopus pieces. This Sunday, it was raining -- sometimes drizzle, sometimes hard.  In either case, the queue when we arrived was out the door and in the rain -- no cover.  We were seated on the edge of the restaurant, which was AOK until the rain picked up ... and our server wouldn't reseat us at a dry table. Took my father and stepmom here for lunch on a Saturday afternoon, as my dad and I had a great experience here when we came for dinner before. My stepmom is a vegetarian as many people are in this world, and they brought out her sandwich with bacon which she already had taken a few bites from, when we specifically said she is a vegetarian and to please not put bacon. The apology at the table was very insincere and filled with excuses, not to mention they still gave us a bill. Completely unacceptable!!!!! Incredible food and atmosphere on the patio with ocean / sunset views for certain tables. Crab cake for appetizer, lamb for main and churros for dessert which were a surprise must. Service from Christina and whole staff was incredibly friendly and helpful. No liquor license but plenty of great other options. Would highly recommend this location for dinner especially! read more

Overall experience was oaky! The ambience and the service were excellent. But the food is just okay. The Spanish Octopus was tender and flavorful but we did not get a sense of Spanish flavor on it. It was seared and served with a slice of potato and arugula salad. The Salmon is a bit overcooked and dry. Not enough broccolini sauce to moist it. We were thinking that maybe the flavor could have been enhanced if it came with more sauce or broccolini sauce. read more

This was a pretty cool spot. It has a gorgeous view of the ocean and is decorated bery beautifully. The service was good, they were kind, but they were a tad slow. That is ok though! More time to chat with my date, haha. In general, our meals were delicious. We split the baklava ice cream for dessert and that kind of fell short. It is so tough to revisit perfection. Last year. Beeside served us an outstanding branzino. This year it was OK. We had a very pleasant evening here this year (we're from another area) and are likely to return next year. Staff is very pleasant. Still worth a visit. P.S. When it gets chilly in the evening they turn on the overhead heaters, and pass out blankets to those who are dining on the balcony! The view of the ocean is so nice! After a family hike at Torrey Pines, we were looking for a place to eat and came across this restaurant. There was plenty of parking nearby when we visited on a Sunday afternoon. The restaurant is located upstairs and offers a nice breeze along with a beautiful view of the coast. The staff was attentive and friendly, which made for a pleasant dining experience. We started with a crab cake to share. I had the beet salad, which had a generous amount of beets and was delicious. My husband ordered the gyro--it was a large portion and he really enjoyed it. We enjoyed an evening at Beeside Balcony and were impressed with the attentive and friendly service, the quality of the food, and the cozy ambiance of this restaurant. They take reservations so we were able to get seated fairly quickly. There are outdoor heaters above the tables so if it's a chilly night, you should be ok under the warmth of the heaters (we felt fine). The menu has a lot of selections, we wanted to try everything, but settled on the crab cake appetizer, and split the scallops and octopus which were really excellent. We also had a side of the beets that were good. Parking was easy on the street right outside but might be a challenge if it's a busy time. We may have just gotten lucky as it was a Saturday evening around 5:30 or so. The portion sizes are on the medium size for dishes like what we ordered, so if you are really starving, you may need to order more or get some of their heartier options. ----TL;DR---- PROS: great flavors, service, and high quality food that you can tell has been carefully prepared. Good location (we didn't see the sunset or ocean view since it was dark but I'm sure it's beautiful. CONS: portion sizes are not huge but each bite is great. Parking could be a challenge BOTTOM LINE: definitely loved it here and would like to go back and try their other items. Give them a try! read more

My husband and I went for lunch during restaurant week. The seating was chaotic even though we made a reservation. I was waiting in the long line to get to the front but apparently multiple people thought they should go first so I got cut in line twice even when I was finally at the front. The hostess didn't seem like she was even interested in asking me if I checked in yet when I was waiting until I asked for her attention despite being 3 feet from her across the counter. The service was friendly but kind of terrible, but probably because they were busy...we got our main entrees before our appetizers came. I had to ask for our appetizers. They went to get it but brought the wrong appetizers. They ended up fixing it but I started eating my entree before my appetizer because I waited a while for my appetizer to come but it took too long and my burger and fries were getting cold. The food was pretty good.. the Mediterranean chicken wrap was better than the salty burger and fries. But it was good... I guess they were too busy to fill our tiny water cups more than once. Their lemon tart was really sweet and I couldn't stand more than 1 bite. The churros were decent. There is some parking behind and below the building, so that's convenient. Ambiance is kinda nice but the views aren't that great from the top. Mostly obstructed and none from the terrace/patio. Overall, restaurant week experience here was terrible. It was my first time here but I have no intentions to come back for another not so great experience. Service was ok, food was ok. But in total not worth coming for an "ok" experience. I ended up cancelling my other restaurant week reservation experience elsewhere because it was just so disappointing. read more

This was such an amazing, filling brunch! The only downside is that you'll always have to deal with Del Mar parking. To find this restaurant, you have to go up some stairs and then you'll walk into a nicely decorated seating area with a beautiful little outdoor terrace. Service was amazing. It took a while for us to decide what we wanted to order--as per usual--but the waitress was so patient and gave us all her favorite recommendations. We ordered: - Octopus Appetizer (5/5): This appetizer even beats the octopus I've had in Spain. It's a must order, so tender and flavorful. I could eat this everyday. - Trio Dips (5/5): Could not stop eating this before our food came out. The pita is so soft and the dips are all so unique. I think we got another order of pita because it was so good. - Lamb Gyro Wrap (5/5): We were honestly so full from the appetizers that we didn't really get to this, but even after reheating at home -- amazing. - Beeside Salad with Salmon (4/5): I mean, it's a salad. This is a quaint restaurant. Go upstairs to check in with the hostess. The upper deck can see the ocean horizon. The menu is very nice. A little bit for everyone, including the exotic eater because there are escargot (snails)! It was fresh tasting with the herbs and garlic butter, not overwhelming. The bee/honey cheeseboard looked beautiful and was very nice. We weren't offered extra pita bread, and maybe we could've asked, but we were ready to eat our entrees. I tried almost all the dips and they were very delicious. I'm vegetarian and ordered the tofu quinoa. Wow, it seriously looked amazing. Thank you offering a beautiful tofu plate and not the typical Beyond burger!!! The plate had well cooked broccolini and the green sauce was SO good! Last minute dinner with the girls! This place is located close to Del Mar Fairgrounds. It's on the 2nd floor. The chef takes pride in his food presentation. Picture perfect! All the dishes we ordered were delicious. The Denver Steak was fine, I feel it lack a little favor. It is served with fries. I wish it had the option for mash potatoes. The drinks were fabulous! Definitely, try the drinks with their honey. I also liked their wine selection. The servers were pleasant and attentive. The sitting is mostly patio sitting. We started with the trio of dips and toasted pita app. It was great, especially the tzatziki! My mother-in-law and I both ordered the pesto shrimp with linguini. Wow! We both could not stop raving about it. I know it sounds corny, but the flavors really had me feeling like I was in the Mediterranean! My husband had the tempura tofu salad and he loved it, plus he said it was the best Arnold Palmer he's had. The ambiance is nice with stunning views. No doubt about that. The rock fish and frites, well the fish could have used some salt and less grease... a few pieces were very soggy from the greasy batter. I didn't complain but I should have asked for a new batch. It may have help me enjoy the meal better. The feta fries are just that fries with feta. They were difficult to eat because the feta cheese kept falling off. I don't think these two items, fish and feta fries, should be served in a small basket rather they should be served on a plate. Especially if you're going to get some feta on your fries! I asked for salt but it was sea salt in the smallest container in which the lid had to be open in order to get out the salt. Those chunks of salt were too big to season the fish, therefore all it did was slide right off. If you like truffles then you'll like the truffle ketchup. The tartar sauce was pretty good. It was ok service regarding lunch time folks. It got a little packed and the staffs did their best to tend to the customers. Ever so often they would come by and automatically top us off with water. Some music was playing, the wind was blowing and they put on the heat lamps because my friend was cold. I can say I went, but I don't think it's a place I'd frequent.
