Working with Hugo was excellent! TL;DR very quick to schedule, very thorough job, and no use of chemicals. Likely more expensive than exterminators that just spray, but the nest is completely gone. Some context: I had noticed yellowjackets getting in a gap in an outside wall a couple of months ago. I closed it off as well as I could and it seemed to stop. A month later however they started coming in and out from a different spot under the eaves. This time I called an exterminator. He came, assessed the situation and came back with his son early in the morning, sprayed a couple of products. Told me they had a 30-day warranty and would come back for free if the yellowjackets came back. The yellowjackets were still around after a few days so I called back. This time he came back alone and seemed unpleased to have to come back for free. Sprayed some more stuff without conviction and left. The only difference was that more yellowjackets were now flying _inside_ the garage. By that point I had figured the nest was inside the wall close to the first opening, and three feet away from where they were spraying. I started to call a few other exterminators but none seemed ready to deal with the nest inside the wall. They would come and spray more and that's it. Pointless. Finally I started to look for "bee removal" people and came across Hugo's business. I called and he came the same day for a free inspection and estimate. He took his time to figure out where exactly the nest was, drilled a few holes to confirm and gave me his price. He said he would open the wall, remove the nest, close off all the entry points he would find, and patch up the drywall. He came to do the job a couple of days later, and did exactly what he promised. Left the place clean, nest out, wall closed off. It took him about three or four hours, which may feel really long but shows the thoroughness. He also has a one year warranty, so if anything comes back and he would take care of it. Another "bee removal" guy quoted me a third of the price but he was going to open up the wall, remove the nest, and leave. No talk of closing off entry points or patching up the wall. Which might be fine for some but at this point paying for full service was perfect for me. Really pleased, I wish all contractors and service professionals were like as dedicated as him. read more

I don't know how this guy has such high reviews. My spouse and I have taken to referring to our experience with him as "the bee shyster". We had a yellowjacket nest on our property that was preventing the repair of a neighboring properties plumbing. Fun drama, I know! And it needed to be attended to in a timely manner. The neighboring property owner called this dude and while he did come same day it was very clear from jump he was sizing up how much he could maximize charging for this service that he really did not want to provide (The neighbor had originally told him it was bees, it was not bees. Naturally the feeling was less positive about removing yellowjackets.) Buddy had a whole song and dance about all the prep work he would need to do before removing the nest (putting on the bee suite everyone else donned at a fraction of the price). How yellowjackets are "very dangerous" and their venom goes "right for the heart". A thrilling tale but probably not an accurate description of even anaphylactic shock when a person has an allergy. I will never know if it was the size of the nest, the location, the heat of the midday sun or simply that he was met with with people he perceived he could take advantage of but he came back with the eye popping price of 1800 for removal. It was a hard no. A different man removed the nest for a much more reasonable price, also same day. The county's vector control finished the job with some pesticides for free. Perhaps this dude had specific bills to pay that day and was calibrating the cost to his specific goals. Or perhaps he really didn't want to tango with wasps. Or perhaps he thinks I'm secretly loaded (spoiler: I'm not). I don't quite know. No other estimate (by 3 other companies/provider) was anywhere close to 1800. All other estimates were given with full awareness it was yellowjackets and not bees. His estimate was a strange experience and we felt much more comfortable when he was gone. read more

It turned out to be a huge yellowjacket nest - 7 lbs with multiple queens (1 full grown and 2 about to hatch. ready swarm to build even more nests). Hugo was able to safely remove the nest, digging it out of the ground and vacuuming up the wasps. We discovered a huge beehive in the base of our chimney/roof and Hugo came out the very same day to take a look. He gave a very thorough inspection and let us know what would need to be done to remove the hive, which included removing part of the chimney structure to access it. We first saw the Yellow Jacket Nest last Sunday. We first call 'Pest Control' which we thought was a great deal - but you pay for what you get. They only sprayed poison through the hole we saw the bees going through, plugged it up and said 'that should do it'. Instead, what it did, was make it worse - the Yellow Jackets started going in our house and attic...plopping on our floor dead. Approx 300 dead ones in our attic, and 20 a day in our front room of the house. They continued to buzz around the front of the house where they were getting in - obviously there were a lot of holes they could get in. To be fair about the pest control person, it was a recommendation from Next Door and I think he was a small shop that just should of said no to our request. The 2nd Pest Control person said they do not handle bees so you should contact a bee expert. Especially since it was evident that the bees were in the wall. I called on a Saturday afternoon and Hugo was able to come by the same day to review my situation and provide me with a quote. I had a native bumblebee nest underground by the foundation of the house, and he came back the next day to begin the removal. The nest proved challenging to find and remove. He had to excavate around quite a bit, and it ended up requiring two separate trips (Sunday and Monday) to complete the job. He carefully explained what he was doing, was very conscientious about caring for any plants he had to displace, and overall left the site in as good or better shape than when he started the job. At the end, he showed me that he had almost certainly removed the queen (workers were clustered around her to protect her) and told me to contact him if the remainder had not dispersed by the next day. Hugo is amazing! He was able to analyze the layout of the building and find a crawl space to get to the bees in the vents. I've never seen anyone like him! Brave and focused. Call Hugo! He is a calm and patient person to talk to. I explained that Yellow Jackets entered the walls through our window frame in our 2nd floor home. We could hear vibration behind our bedroom wall at night. He immediately understood our problem and offered to visit-even during the weekend-to assess the problem. After assessing, he scheduled a visit the following morning. His challenge was, how to open the window frame outside (where the bees enter) from inside our home because access thru our neighbors backyard was not possible...so he had to work from inside our bedroom to open up part of the window frame outside (this was a risky maneuver just to open up the frame and work on the wasp nest). I don't know how he did it but he completely removed the yellow jacket nest and he also fixed and painted the window frame so it appears like nothing happened from outside.
