This review is from a visit in November 2024 and another visit in December 2024. I'm going to have to give this place 2 stars. The draft beer selection is lacking, and the drafts are not pints. No employee seems to know how large the pours are. I asked several employees and got answers that the pours were either 12 ounces or 14 ounces. No one seemed to know. The beer menu is a mess. It's not organized by type or brand of beer. I'm really not sure how it was organized. They have several burgers on their menu. The burgers are just ok. Nothing stands out. read more

Stopped in to check out the latest addition to the area and I'm glad I did. Beerheads has a full-service bar with many draft beer options along with a full kitchen. They also have a decent wine list and a pretty good whiskey selection. There is plenty of onsite parking. The inside is very roomy with a central dining area with the bar on the backside. There are tv's all around the perimeter, so this place is really good to come watch sports. I sit at the bar and am greeted by the very cool bartender. I ask for some Octoberfest options and he runs them down for me. Three beers later and several good conversations I am certain that I will be back to this location. I didn't eat on this occasion but the pizza the people sitting next to me ordered looked delicious so I'm looking forward to trying their food on my return visit. read more

We came here on a Sunday during football season. It was surprising not too busy. The restaurant is in a small plaza in a quiet area. There is plenty of parking. The restaurant is a good size and has a large patio. There are tons of TVs and every football game was on. My wife got the turkey BLT with fries and I got the mushroom Swiss chicken sandwich with chips and queso. We both thoroughly enjoyed our food. read more

Kiara (sp), our server, and the close proximity to our house are the only reasons for the stars. Beerhead, a chain, is located in a very small strip mall on the corner of Babcock and Huermann near UTSA. Kiara seated and served us and she couldn't have been more engaging, pleasant, and hardworking. She walked us through the menu and was congenial throughout our meal. We ordered a pomegranate Paloma which was extremely well-balanced in flavor and punch. My husband's black-and-tan was more tan than black, but not everyone has the skill to make it correctly. The pickle fries were very gimmicky: "charge them for the full spear, label it as 'fries' and cut the wedges skinnier to maximize profit. "Well played. They did have a nice exterior, but their awesome sauce was just great. My son and hubby ordered the founder's burger with fries. My hubby added a side Caesar salad and it was literally a bowl of romaine with croutons, not dressed, no Parmesan. It came with a side of dressing that "tastes like Newman's Own." Their burgers tasted "like frozen patties." My daughter's mushroom Swiss was good. My husband's garlic-parm fries were limp, soggy, but tasted decent. The evening came abruptly to an end when I took a third bite from my "crispy" chicken founder's sandwich. I had a bad feeling when the "crispy chicken" sandwich came out looking more like the grilled version. I had to pinch and peel the "breading" on the breast, it was so thin. When I got towards the center of the sandwich (not even halfway through), I noticed the texture changed. I looked at the sandwich and saw it wasn't fully cooked. I immediately spat out that mouthful and started gagging. We called the manager over and she made the excuse "It's a pre-cooked patty so it's not raw." But it's not cooked correctly! As a chef of more than 20 years, my belief is that every chef should experience food poisoning so they appreciate the importance of safe food handling. The cooks at Beerhead need that lesson. Even IF the chicken comes in precooked, they still didn't prepare it according to the package instructions. It was not served at a safe temperature; never mind the fact they're charging us for precooked food but claiming to have an "upscale bar menu". Serving precooked food at those prices is beyond. I deal with an autoimmune disorder so food poisoning can land me in the hospital faster than most. I urgently wanted to get home and purge to get what I could out of my body, but we had to wait for the check. They did take my sandwich and the pickle fries off the check, so we didn't pay for that. I DO believe that paying $90 for a family of four (with my sandwich taken off) is still too much for precooked, uncooked food. I can't recommend this place at all. read more

We are visiting San Antonio and found this place showing the Liverpool Football matches, so we stopped by to check it out. They need more Liverpool fans to come in and support so spread the word if you know of any. They also show NFL and all the other major sporting events. The ambiance is great, clean and stylish including an outdoor patio seating area. They are relatively new so come out and support this new and upcoming place and help them become THE place to meet. Roberto our Bartender will take good care of you and let me tell you the food is EPIC not to be missed. Sadly I forgot to take a picture of the burgers we ordered but safe to say some of the best I've had. I did however remember to take a picture of one of their newest menu items the S'Mores Dip They have a large selection of great eats as well as a large selection of beverages including many international beers on tap. I don't write many reviews, but this establishment deserves one and not a good one! The atmosphere is descent, beer taps and several options out of the cooler. Food is nothing to rave about and in my opinion a little pricey for the quality. The worst part about my experience was their pricing on local beers, which was ridiculous! Most beers are $1 -$2 higher than what I'm used to paying, but what really sealed it was a local kolsch from Long Tab Brewery - $13.50!!!! On top of that they charged $12.50 for a snifter of mead! The bartender confirmed that the prices on the receipt were correct. Don't waste you time or you money on this place! There are way better options out there! read more

The pizza was perfect topping to crust ratio was on point, the crust was super crispy perfect size for three people.. The owner John was super friendly and our bartender Rico was entertaining and engaging - he gave lots of suggestions along with letting us taste a few of his favorite beers. It was a really great experience. I can't wait to return. We sat the bar, but they had lots of indoor seating with booths and tables and outdoor offerings that were pet friendly - the ambience was a combination of Hometown bar and sports bar gem of a place in a hidden part of Nw San Antonio. My buddy, who is more like a brother to me than friend, came down to visit for a week while my wife was in Florida for her annual vacation with her college girlfriends. He is nearly blind and doesn't get out much back in Kansas. I try to take him to different breweries, distilleries, restaurants, and other venues. It is more fun for me when we find a new place neither of us has ever been. Beerhead was one of the 22 stops we made during the week. I heard about it from a Master Naturalist friend when we were in a Zoom meeting getting ready for our new training class. It was kind of shocking to me that it never came up in a search of area beer venues. When I actually searched it on Google, I liked what I saw. We were there on a Saturday afternoon. It was busy but not crowded. We had a great comfy and fairly private booth. A gentleman came over to take our order and helped me decide which of the two stouts would be more to my liking. He was very knowledgeable about everything in the place. Even though we weren't there to eat, I wanted to check out the menu. The guy told us we should try their pretzel. The way he described it, I had to order one. Great choice. It was huge, fresh, warm, soft, buttery, and came with three dipping choices. We tore into it, and still had half to bring home. I can't think of anything negative about the place. I really liked it and will be back. The beer selection is great, and if the pretzel is any indication, so is the food. I was pleasantly surprised at how much we enjoyed this place. Our waitress was nothing short of amazing. She knew what beers were on tap, had lots of knowledge and made recommendations based on our preferences. (I wish I remembered her name.) She constantly checked on us and even convinced us to try a blueberry dessert with ice cream. We look forward to returning once the weather gets cooler. read more

Bartender was great. Food was just okay- nothing spectacular. I know it's a beer place - hence the name- but the wine was kind of pricey. (I'm not a beer drinker- but the hubby is) Was excited to try this place . We had picked our vehicle from a dealer nearby and it was recommended- but just not all that impressed. Manager walked by myself and my husband a few times and never tried to make conversation with us- which bc was odd because he did with other patrons. This place was our choice for a group work outing and they were quick to accommodate us...the owner was kind enough to let us sample a few beers to make our drink decisions, and help guide us through the menu. However, it all started going down hill from there. I tried ordering FOUR different beers off the menu, all of which they jotted down and then came back to tell me each time that they were out. So I was like "well what do you have!?" And they weren't even sure, haha. The extremely overpriced pretzel came out ($18!) and it was BURNT. You can look up the photos of what it is supposed to look like and compare. It was a more than a few shades darker than it should have been. We sent it back and they said they would remake it, but it never came out. As a lover of pickles, I ordered the pickle pizza. I am vegetarian, so asked for "no bacon". Meanwhile half of my parties drinks were forgotten and we had to flag staff down to reorder them. As the drinks were getting sorted, the server came over and said "they put bacon on it so I'm having it remade, it'll be another 15-20 minutes". We munch on a couple of appetizers in the mean time, which were pretty tasty, thankfully. Then my pizza comes out, with no bacon... but also no jalapeño ranch sauce, and no dill. It was just cheese and pickles. So I pointed to the picture card on the table of what it was supposed to look like and said "I think they forgot the sauce and spices" and she took it back to the kitchen again! I will say once it was corrected and everyone was frustrated, that the pizza was really good. I would order it again if it wasn't such a hassle to get it in the first place. Two of my friend's meals never came out in that time, and they went without eating. It was a mess! I definitely won't be back. We were all pretty disappointed and still had to pay full price on everything with no apology. read more

The chicken sandwich was also superrrrrr good! It tasted kind of like a chick-fil-a sandwich, except elevated! The buns were super soft & a little sweet. & the buttered pickles really tied it together! The fries were ALRIGHT...4/10 for the fries. Everything else was GREAT 10/10. I was excited to try Beerhead as I am an avid craft beer drinker and wanted to try something off the food menu. First I was not overly impressed with their craft beer selection. It was ok, not great by any means. We ordered a jellyfish, a mead and a lone pint yellow rose IPA. We also tried a turkey blt which was good but not great. Next I decided I wanted to support a local SA brewery so decided to drink a Longtab brewery phantom fighter which is a Kolsch they had in their cooler full of beers by the can / bottle. When we were done and I got the bill, I was shocked to see a price of $13.50 for my one can of beer and $12 for a small pour of the mead. Talk about price gouging. I did ask the bartender about the charge and was just told that is what it cost. I will never return to this place or recommend it to anyone. Prices are out of line and there is way too much completion with a better selection at more affordable prices. See receipt attached as proof. read more

Me and my partner were so excited to check this new place out. I live in the apt community right behind and thought this might be our local "go to" for burgers and beer. We stopped in for lunch and there were a couple guys at the bar, and we were the only people dining. I ordered a mushroom burger, and my partner ordered the Brie burger- both came with fries. When the meals were delivered, they looked amazing, and the patties were nice and thick. We asked for a medium cook, but received a "done" cook. Unfortunately, the burgers had no flavor; they lacked any seasoning. We could tell that no salt or pepper (at minimum) had been added to the meat prior to cooking. I asked for tea, but they didn't have any so we just had water. The fries were really good! I really hope management reads these reviews and decides to step up their food game. Looks like I'm not alone in my experience. We'd like to give them another try and hope they make some minor tweaks to attract and retain the locals as regular customers. Good luck! I hate doing this because it's a new establishment but ( Bar tender was great and knew their food was sub par but she had to serve it) we ordered the $10.00 Queso and chips, Queso looked like plastic out of a large Costco can. Cheap chips not hand made. I ordered 6 wings $11.00 for 6 ?? and they looked like they can off a small hen. The wife ordered a burger with fries with special sauce on the side and they smothered it on top she had to scrape it off $19.00 over cooked and small. Beer was good lots of selections. Alright, so we were pretty excited when a place was finally going to be in this spot. However, It's fine. They weren't super busy when we went but it was still quite slow. As for what we got, we had the chips and queso with corn pico - I'd say skip it. The portion was really small and the ratios of queso to chips to pico was all out of wack. We also had the Mac and cheese, which was pretty good but nothing crazy. We also had the caprese chicken sandwich, which was definitely the best thing we had. For the side we had the parmesan garlic fries, and those were pretty good too. The place is pretty loud even though they weren't full. Overall, I'm underwhelmed, but I'll try it again to give them another chance. read more

We are so excited to finally have a neighborhood eatery. Don't let the name deceive you though - in addition to 50+ beers, they have a great selection of premium liquor, craft cocktails, and a great wine list. The interior has a fun vibe. It does not feel like a suburban strip mall. There is plenty of space to sit at the bar, or any of the tables and booths to be able to watch the game. Love that there is an outdoor patio with heat lamps as well. We really enjoyed the cajun dry rub chicken wings. They were crispy, but not dry as is often found at other places. For the price we do wish it came with a few more wings. Great stop for brunch, a beer and burger after a hike at Friedrich or to swing by in the evening for a quick bite. read more

First time trying this place a few weeks ago. Ordered chicken tacos with a side of chips and queso for carry out, and they weren't good. Tortillas stale, greasy, lacked flavor, and the chips and queso were forgotten. Just a bummer to pay for that experience. Service seemed slow going inside, but it was a full crowd.
