The place stinks like glade plug ins which there are about a dozen of. Horribly loud music. Had one hookah, and 2 cups of tea. The total came out to 57.00? Interesting seeing that the hookah is 30$ and the tea is 3$ each. Even with tax that doesn't add up. Our server did not speak any English either, which contributed to the dispute over the bill. Finally after about 20 min of waiting around and her coming out with another receipt saying she gave 7$ back to my card, she called the owner who claimed that 18% gratuity was added to our bill, a party of 2. Which is hilarious because no wonder our service was shit! She literally didn't come out to check once and I again had to go into the back of the store to find someone to pay. A literal nightmare you couldn't pay me to return. Zero stars. In the end, the 57.00 bill miraculously turned into 48.00 with zero explanation of how she was able to take off the "mysterious" charges. Don't go here they will straight up steal from you. Edit: it's not a political comment. You are misunderstanding the point. It's a fact that your server needs to be able to communicate with your customers and she was unable to. When you own an establishment someone needs to be there who can communicate with the customers when there are major discrepancies in the bill - that still has yet to be explained. Nobody was there was able to help us hence why you were called. Also I did not kick your sign in my dress and heels - you got caught for trying to steal from us.

This cocktail and handroll spot might be one you miss if you are just driving by and not in the local Ardmore scene, and that would be a catastrophe, as it is unique and delicious. This bar has impeccable Japanese ambience with high, light wood ceilings and a quiet atmosphere. It offers exclusively high-top table and bar seating, but still feels elevated. This is one of the best sake menus I have seen in the area, including domestic production, and also offers Japanese beers and a very delicious cocktail list featuring sake-forward offerings. Sake served generously with the cedar box tradition. Specials are available daily and warm food from the menu seems to be prepared next door at Ripplewood (same ownership). Handrolls were bright and fresh using clearly high quality, fresh ingredients. We also enjoyed a Branzino collar. We'll definitely be back, and will try to be early again to get good seating (spots fill fast, as you'd expect!)

An easy contender for the best bar & restaurant in Ardmore!…read more From the first moment that I stumbled upon it on the way to a dinner and just had to grab test cocktail, to the most recent time where I splurged on all the sushi and bao bun noms; Izzy's has been a place that never disappoints! It's called Izzy's because at its core it's a casual Izakaya where you can enjoy sushi, bao, drinks, and more without even needing a reservation (https://www.phillymag.com/foobooz/2025/05/28/izzys-cocktail-bar-izakaya-ardmore/) four nights a week. But its all a passion project from the Ripplewood team that does all that with a good fusion twist that yields very little confusion. Your old fashioned might come with an aged dark rum instead of a whiskey, your salmon hand roll might be the perfect lox bagel without the bagel, and your bao bun might come birria taco style, and all of the above are absolute serendipity! The menu does shift regularly enough to the point where you'll find at least one new favorite among old staple with each visit, and you also want to be prepared to find out about specials and get spot-on recommendations from the welcoming staff. For cocktails I've immensely enjoyed their versions of dark & stormy's, olde fashioned's, the Last Word (https://www.phillymag.com/foobooz/2025/06/19/izzys-ardmore-last-word/), and then some. But they also have a weel rounded selection of Japanese whiskeys, and you best believe that they have Hitachino Nest beer! For food I've enjoyed the following; Salmon Philly Handroll - The perfect lox bagel without the bagel comes with sushi grade salmon, creme fraiche, and everything bagel spice in a seaweed wrap. Hokkaido Scallop Handroll - the perfect buttery scallops with an umami bomb speak for themselves! Miso Soup - You haven't had miso soup until you had this freshmaker version that perfectly serves two. Hands down the best version I've ever had! Nigiri - All the nigiri, all of it is good! Spicy Cucumbers - the perfect chilled vegetable to share with the table with a bit of spice and flavor that rivals my belove Han Dynasty and Dan Dan versions! Birria Bao Buns - Somehow the best queso free birria I've had might not come with a taco?! My favorite seat is the window booth that overlooks all of downtown Ardmore. But my second favorite is standing so I can play a free game of pinball!

The restaurant has a modern yet comfortable atmosphere, making it a great spot for both casual meals and special dinners. The staff were welcoming, attentive, and knowledgeable about the menu, which made ordering easy and enjoyable. For our meal, we ordered the shrimp platter and the white fish with bok choy, and both dishes were excellent. The shrimp platter was beautifully presented and packed with flavor. The shrimp were cooked perfectly--tender, juicy, and well-seasoned without overpowering the natural taste. Each bite felt fresh and balanced, and the portion size was just right. The white fish with bok choy was a standout dish. The fish was delicate, flaky, and cooked to perfection, while the bok choy added a nice crunch and freshness to the plate. The sauce was light yet flavorful, allowing the ingredients to shine without being too heavy or oily. It felt like a well-thought-out dish that reflects Dan Dan's focus on quality and authenticity. Overall, our dining experience at Dan Dan was memorable. The food quality, thoughtful preparation, and friendly service really set this restaurant apart. If you're in the Ardmore area and looking for delicious Asian-inspired cuisine made with care, Dan Dan is definitely worth a visit. We're already looking forward to coming back and trying more dishes from the menu.

Two of us shared the hand ripped noodles and an order of wonton in soup. Both dishes were fine but not that impressive. There's much better Chinese food in center city Philly (of course), and for the price, I'd rather go somewhere else. Overall, wouldn't really come back, but also wouldn't turn it down if someone else was enthusiastic.

The food quality and prices were equally uneven. The very small portioned chicken dish (priced the same as the wagyu meatloaf) was dry and flavorless, and seemed as if it had been barely reheated in the microwave. The star of the meal was the meatloaf: perfectly seasoned with the most delicious, moist, and tender texture. But this dish was served with a very strange rubbery bacon covering some asparagus. The potato puree was very well executed, not gummy or over whipped, but silky and delicate. Strangely, the vegetables were also highlights: perfectly crisp grilled asparagus and Brussels sprouts. The most offensive dish of the evening was the dessert in the form of an apple crumb described as "flaky" and "buttery." I am not exaggerating when I say that this tasted like an Ikea cafeteria dessert that had been stuck in the display case for a month. Truly the most abominable, rubbery, dense, dry dessert I've ever had. I'm shocked they had the audacity to serve this. Service was mostly excellent, but we were confused as to why another table had the specials recited to them when we didn't. Perhaps this is decent place for happy hour, but I wouldn't recommend a full meal here.

It is a lovely venue and fresh carnations on each table- so a pity.

We did not have any basic issues with our lane, although for some of the more familiar bowlers, it seems like the oils were off on the lanes? Not sure what that means, but for us average joe's, we had a blast. Four games in 2 hours. House ball selection was mediocre. For some reason, their balls don't have the sizes on them, so you have to go by feel for the weight, and go trial by error. That being said, by the middle of the second game, we managed to find balls that worked for us, and we were off to the races. This place definitely has a community feel. Some loud groups a few lanes over. A girl scout going lane by lane selling cookies. If that's what you're looking for, that's the vibe here!
