Great Beers and Incredible Burgers. 1. Beer: If you're a Beer Snob like me, and love really great hard to find beers, this is your Candy Store or Beer Heaven. If you're just trying to become more educated about all the varieties of beer there are, this is the place to come with over 200 to choose from. I split a 2025 bottle of Firestone Walker Parabola with a family member. You can even buy that one more you want to try but can't drink tonight to take home for later, and their prices are very reasonable. The owner, Heather really knows her beers, and her staff are very helpful as well. 2: Burgers: I had the burger 88, with semisweet balsamic onion jam, Swiss cheese and bacon, and fries - OMG! Excellent! Everyone enjoyed their sandwiches. They have other food as well, but I'd go straight to their burgers with 6 to choose from, or customize your own. This is a Must Stop! Enjoy! read more

I had a great first experience at Beer 88 today! Cassidy was knowledgeable, friendly, and checked in with us often. I had a delicious sour on tap, the bacon cheese fries, and the Smoking Gun burger - all were excellent! I'll definitely be back. read more

HIT IT! Nice people and knowledgeable about thir beer! They carry a nice assortment of cans that span the field of different kinds of beers. They can help you pick the taste you are searching for but know that its pretty expensive. Like $10 for a can of beer. They also have food. I bought a basket of fried pickles. They were different. Heavily breaded and had cornmeal (?) in the breading. Not my favorite but the servers here are great! Would go back again. read more

Great service. Great and quick food. Servers were very attentive. I think I said "so good" probably 10 times. The burgers were FANTASTIC! One of the best I've ever had. I got the 88 and my friend got the smokin gun. Excellent flavors. The ambiance was nostalgic and clean. Looking forward to my next visit! read more

Our favorite go to for burgers, wings, beer selection & great service. Has a "Cheers" feel to it with lots of locals but always welcoming to new patrons. Owner always picks the right beer for me as she knows what I like. Never a bad experience. read more

Beer 88 is an amazing place to get a burger. I don't drink so my reviews specifically for the food. Truly, it's amazing every single time no matter what burger I get it's always good. The sweet potato fries are amazing as well. I would highly recommend this place to anyone wanting a good beer and a great burger. read more

Hands down, the best burger in Lynchburg. I tried their Crabby Patty burger, and it was the best burger I have ever had, and too much red meat usually makes me sick, but this did not. The ladies who always took my order were so so nice and it is a cute little environment in there. My fiancé and I do not drink, but they have a wall of beer for those who do with lots of variety. read more

We had carry out 2 years ago and it was great. Tonight my burger was burnt on one side and bacon was burnt. My fries tasted like they emptied the salt shaker on them . Husband's burger was fine but his sweet potato fries weren't fresh. read more

We ended up here on 01/14/2023 after another place we went to reeked of cigarette smoke. I'm happy we ended up here. It wasn't too busy when we arrived; which was perfect since we were heading to a LU basketball game after we ate. This isn't the biggest place but comfortable. We were immediately seated. Drink orders taken , eventually. The server picked out a nice , hazy IPA for me. I was pleased. Appetizers: onion rings ( delicious) , Bavarian pretzels (warm & soft , not too much salt) served with dipping cheese sauce. Entrees: My niece got the Mac & cheese burger w/t fries. She enjoyed her food. My sister also had a burger but I don't recall which one she selected. I had the wings. Lots of different flavors. I oddly went with Jamaican jerk flavor. I really don't know why. The flavor was ok. I requested that my wings be prepared "fried hard." They weren't. We all had leftovers , so I reheated my wings in the microwave at the hotel. They were much better then. Beer 88 has a bit of sports bar feel. Pretty laid back vibe. I love the lounging sofa area. I look forward to coming back here when I have more time to explore more of their extensive beer selection. read more

My wife and I tried beer 88 tonight and were disappointed. We came here because they have the guiltless burger on the menu and my wife is currently avoiding carbs as much as possible so she ordered that and I built my own burger which was a bacon double the burgers that arrived were overly saturated in grease I took one bite and the burger gushed grease down the front of my shirt and my wife's plate had a bed of lettuce swimming in it as well. We choked down what we could, mine fell apart after a few bites due to bun being saturated. The fries were not memorable as well. Overall 54$ with tip for two grease balls and blah fries and a water and diet Pepsi ....the regret was free... read more

This was the perfect end to a long day of driving! The place was busy but not obnoxiously. We sat at the bar as we prefer. The bartender, Mark, helped us immediately. He helped us choose the right beer for our taste out of their huge selection, and also gave us some food recommendations. The service was fast, friendly, and attentive. The food was good, and surprisingly affordable! Will definitely put this on our list of places to return! read more

My wife and I went to Beer 88 and found the best burger place in Lynchburg, VA. I had the Gurberburger and she had the Crabby Patty! The waiter gave us great recommendations! Beer 88 - MacAttack with barbeques sauce - Burgers Near Me - Lynchburg, Virginia

I can't say if this place has the best burgers in the area because I haven't tried many places yet and because this place was just OK. I had a burger with Mac and cheese, I'd give this a 2/5 because the cheese was nonexistent. The burger was ok, needs a little bit of seasoning and wasn't juicy enough for me. The fries were too soggy but I put them in the air fryer and they were decent afterwards. The wings are horrible... I wouldn't recommend those to anyone. Too big, slimy, no seasoning just a pinch of buffalo sauce. read more

In my opinion best burgers in Lynchburg area. Flavor filled and made to order. Their fries (and sweet potato fries) are crispy and seasoned well. It all comes with YumYum sauce which adds some extra flair. Staff is efficient and friendly in my experience. We usually take our food to go because the vibe inside the restaurant is not my favorite, but I'm glad some regulars call the bar home! read more

Holy smoke this place is fantastic! Some Liberty grads were getting married so our L A R G E group of friends, family and f***ups descended on Lynchburg and inevitably we were going to need some food and libations. In short: stellar service by one server! There were 25 ppl in our group and this guy served us with panache and we never needed a thing. Food - exceptional burgers and fries! Price was a bit on the cheap side so we drank more. Awesome place and i wish them the BEST of luck in their business; unfortunately, I will unlikely return only because I live 1400 miles away. read more

I LOVE this place. It's atmosphere is great, the music, couches, bar, and high tops make for great seating options. The food, beer, people are all great too. The owner is especially knowledgeable about the beer and has great recommendations. You can start a beer list and eventually get your own ceiling tile. The burgers are great and the beers change a lot and always a great selection. Most of the bad reviews seem to be fake. It's sad when people try to tear down a small business especially when we "try" to lift minority businesses. I will be back, often. read more

This place's small interior and strange waves of service is only rebuffed by their burger selection. Man there is some weird stuff on this menu, I got the one with peanut butter in it. It was.... oddly good? In the same way pineapple pizza is, not a crime but I wouldn't spend money actively on it again. The beer selection is good and the cheese wontons here are oddly good. Looking forward to coming back here when I can! The pricing online is wrong so I took photos of the menu. read more

We stopped by on a Saturday afternoon and felt like we'd found a hidden gem. We moved to Lynchburg in December of 2019 and before we were truly settled and ready to explore our new town, the world went a little crazy. I mention this because, finally finding a place where we felt comfortable, just like "before" was such a pleasure. Service was really friendly and professional. The craft beer list was really well rounded along with some fairly unique bottle choices. I really enjoyed the mushroom Swiss burger (though it was a bit more done than i would have liked) and the fries were excellent. Beer 88 also seems like it would be a great place to bring kids post sporting event or an adult get together. A great find I hope to visit many times. read more

Loved this small ...former Asian restaurant Now a Burger and beer place! They are always changing the taps with new craft beers! It was a welcoming oasis while attending an event at Liberty University It has a few TV's... And a simple menu of burgers. Wings fries and a few appetizers! The owner and staff were terrific enlightening me about beer, the area and the restaurant Now I had the California Burger with guacamole and pepper jack cheese. This was actually cooked perfect at medium and it was definitely not a frozen patty! It was super tasty! I may even return here before I head back to SC! Please check them out!! read more

My friends and I came here on a Friday night around 7pm. We were lucky to have gotten the only free table at the moment which was the couch area. We ordered the crab rangoon, the Wyndhurst, and the Beer 88. Food was just mediocre. Atmosphere was nice and cozy though. Service was also great! read more

This place sucks. Like sucks harder than a dyson.Dyson. or one of those car wash vacuums. LoL

Found this place when we were in Lynchburg, VA for a National Duals wrestling tournament. They have an extensive beer menu and very attractive food menu. Priced very well, extremely knowledgeable staff, amazing food, and a small town cool atmosphere. We ordered the bacon wrapped meatballs and Carribean Jerk wings as apps. The meatballs were awesome, but the Jerk wings were smoked and the meat was so juicy and fell off the bone. Incredible flavor. I ordered a special burger off the menu - Hawaiian Burger (see picture). It was definitely in my TOP 3 Burgers that I have ever had. I was blown away. It was also cooked a perfect medium rare, which a lot of places won't do, or do properly. Kudos to the kitchen. The YUM YUM sauce with the fries is also to die for, I could have eaten a bucket of fries covered in it, it's that yummy! Stop in, give this place a try, I hope Nationals are there next season so I can go back. The owner is an extremely nice lady who takes a lot of pride in her and her staff's work. She knows her stuff and it really shows. Great Job Beer 88! read more

Not really my cup of beer... er, tea? I'm a huge beer drinker, especially craft beers. Was expecting a nice, crisp beer here due to the fact that they specialize in beer. The one recommended was NOT good. First, a warm beer is never good (in my opinion); second, a skunky, filmy beer is NEVER considered fresh OR tasty. How long do they keep beer here?? Also, the service leaves a lot to be desired. Frazzled, pushy servers who don't check on you often, and don't have a good working knowledge of the menu. Skip this place, there are much better options in the area! read more

I've been a frequent customer for pick-up and dine-in since moving to the area! I love that they allow substitution for a black bean burger or impossible burger for any of their specialty burgers (also have turkey), which allows me as a vegetarian to not be limited to ordering the same meal every time due to limited choices like at many other burger places. If you're considering either, I recommend their black bean over the impossible. My favorite burger is the Wyndhurst (with spinach artichoke dip, cheese, and an onion ring), but I also love their LA burger with guacamole and pepper jack cheese as a close second! I tried their MacAttack most recently (with home-made Mac n' cheese), but I thought it was a little dry with lack of topping like the dip/guacamole I'm used to getting. I'm a huge fan of their crispy, well-seasoned sweet potato fries and their yum yum sauce for dipping! They also have a great beer and cider selection. The servers are always so smiley (I can even tell even with masks!) and super friendly. They can get pretty full, but I have never had to wait to be seated, even on a Saturday evening. They also have outdoor seating and plenty of parking since it is located in Wyndhurst! read more

The burgers are amazing here! And the service was quick and very welcoming, the owner even talked to us about all of their selections of beer, where they come from and the differences between them. Will definitely visit again! read more

Pros: Great beer selection with 88 to choose from, unique and delicious signature sauce that is a mix between bbq and yum yum sauce, and the majority of the burgers are good (the only one I did not like was the Hawaiian). It's an easy choice for kicking back with friends and a good for people with a simple and more adventurous palette. I have never taken someone here who did not like it. Con: They usually only have one waitress on staff and even though she is quick, it's just not quick enough to be able to serve everyone efficiently. At a place that called BEER 88 you need to be checking on tables more than a regular restaurant because people are ordering drinks. read more

Beer 88 is one of my favorite spots in Lynchburg! Whenever I come to the area to visit family, I request a meal at Beer 88. The service is always great, and the food is so delicious! As the name suggests, they always have 88 bottled beers. They also have 6 rotating taps. On my last trip, I got a peach barrel wheat ale on draft, which was delicious. I love that you can substitute a vegetarian black bean patty for any of the burgers! My go-to burger is the Wyndhurst (spinach and artichoke dip, pepper, jack cheese, and an onion ring). On my most recent trip, I tried the Hawaiian (with cucumber-wasabi dressing, teriyaki sauce, grilled pineapple, and fire-roasted tomatoes). It normally comes with bacon, but I asked them to leave it off. It was really good, though the wasabi was just a bit too strong for me, so I think I'll stick to the Wyndhurst. Also, the yum-yum sauce that comes with the fries is SO GOOD. Don't settle for plain ketchup - try the yum-yum sauce. You won't regret it. A huge burger, fries with an amazing dipping sauce, and a pickle for $9.88 is an unbeatable deal. If you're in the area, you have to check out Beer 88! read more

Best burger in Lynchburg by far. I typically get whatever their current special is and it hasn't disappointed yet. The burger is truly cooked to perfection and each style has enormous flavor. The wait has never been long and I have been about 4-5 times now. The theme of the restaurant is a little confusing, but who cares. I'm happily a regular at beer88. read more

The burgers are solid. The burgers alone will make you a repeat customer, but the crab rangoons bump the rating up from 4 stars to 5 stars. Best burger in all of Lynchburg! The food and service is incredible. Went here with my boyfriend on Valentine's Day for a quick bite. Good and atmosphere was great read more

This place is adorable and such a great theme! They specialize in burgers and wings and beer. The name comes from the fact that at any given one they have 80 different type of bottled/canned beers in their refrigerators and 8 beers on draught. So many to choose from and they have they organized in a really fun way! If you are a local, you get your picture in the wall when you go through all 88. Then the second time around, you get to design a ceiling tile. Your third time you get a beer stein. Your 4th time a growler and the 5th time unlimited beers when you come in!!! Granted that would probably set you back about $3000 to get to that point but it's fun to try!! As for food, they have really fun burger types...too many to list...but the best part? You can switch to either a black bean patty or turkey burger at no extra cost! Yum! Oh and the burger with delicious, crispy seasoned fries is only $8.88 And they have wings...you can request all flats like I did and they will help you out!! 6 wings with spicy, delectable sauce for only $6.88...see the trend there? It really is a great spot and one of the owners is always there and she is usually serving you! She is super knowledgeable about beer so ask her if you don't know what you want! Love this place! read more

I have eaten here several times and the food is amazing. Being from Texas, I have a hard time giving burger compliments to restaurants out here; but this place is Texas approved. We loved this small quirky place. Bartender was very friendly and knowledgeable.
