I tried Beehive Meals for two months. It's about $28 per meal. I was disappointed that ground turkey is used instead of hamburger. Most meals are just the large chunks of meat, or chicken breasts in a bag with a sauce. This leads the meals to be under seasoned. It is also frustrating to pay so much per meal for just chicken breasts and a sauce added. My other frustration was that the meals are frozen flat. I ordered the largest serving meals. They do not fit in my crockpot frozen. I would have to allow them to thaw and then add to crockpot. Again, not a huge deal, but for the price it is frustrating. read more

Just made my first Beehive meal and I have to say I am disappointed!! It was chicken verde, but it was basically 2 frozen chicken breasts in green salsa that you cook in the crock pot, but you still have to add all the toppings, tortillas, cheese, beans, rices and cheese to make it a meal. For a lot less money when I went to the store, because for this meal I will have to go anyway, I could just pick up 2 chicken breast and a can of Hernandez salsa verde for $9 instead of $23. Not only does this meal lack flavor it also lacks value. I was really hoping this would be the answer to easier and tasty family meals but so far I'm pretty disappointed! read more

The delivery aspect was awesome. The food quality was great, though we didn't like a couple of the meals. It seemed like too many of the meals where meant to be served with pasta. My husband is diabetic so that was a problem. There's no opt out (like: bring me all except that one we dislike) so I didn't order again. The website is also a little glitchy. I have been a loyal customer of Beehive Meals for quite some time, but my recent encounter has left me deeply disappointed. As someone with a severe pork allergy, and a husband who is a practicing Muslim who refrains from consuming pork his entire lifetime as it is against his religion, I've always appreciated their willingness (in the past) to accommodate our dietary needs by substituting pork meals on their monthly menu with chicken or beef meals. However, my most recent order (placed yesterday) took an unexpected turn. After requesting the usual substitutions for the two pork meals on their menu, and reminding them about our family situation with pork, I received an email response *confirming* these two substitutions had been placed on my packing slip for fulfilment. To my complete surprise, a few hours later, I received an additional email stating their prep team would no longer be making these two already-confirmed substitutions. This was concerning, as my health and safety is at risk when I am exposed to pork; and it would be entirely offensive to *any* Muslim to receive a meal containing pork of any kind. We do not purchase pork; nor do we *ever* have/bring pork inside of our home. A phone call immediately took place, emphasizing my medical condition and my husband's religious practices (which, again, prohibit pork consumption) with Ana. I was met with resistance and a continual refusal to accommodate or understand (which has never happened in my past experience). Ana refused to acknowledge or accommodate our health and safety concerns countless times. She also refused the email confirmation I received earlier in the day acknowledging the removal of our pork meals, as well as this being the past experience Beehive Meals has always been more than willing to accommodate in light of our family's dietary needs. No matter how many times I explained our family situation, she continued to insist that this was *not* discrimination, and insisted on sending us the pork dishes, citing vague reasons like being "end of the month," along with unsubstantiated website policies about 'no longer making substitutions' (which, of course, I cannot locate anywhere on the Beehive Meals website). It is both sad and unfortunate that a human would have to demand our health, safety, and religious needs be acknowledged by a meal prep company and receive this type of response. By the end of the phone call - even though it was abundantly clear she was more than defiant to make the proper accommodation - she did say she would provide the necessary, earlier-agreed-upon substitutions. I, of course, was left in shock and disbelief at my experience, and sent an email requesting a phone call from their general manager (who did call me later). It's essential that businesses -- especially those in meal-prep -- prioritize customer health and safety, especially when dealing with allergies and religious dietary restrictions. As a consumer, I firmly believe it's crucial to highlight such experiences as ours. Ana's outright refusal to accommodate our legitimate needs, despite the prior email assurances/confirmation, reflects poorly on Beehive Meals for employing those who practice pure bigotry toward their community, and who refuse to 'do no harm' in a situation as serious as ours. I find it also worth mentioning that discrimination of all kinds -- whether based on religious or health conditions, or in any other form -- should never be tolerated. This is the year 2023 and it's a shame that people still exist who refuse to acknowledge and/or practice elementary decency, equality, justice; and the most basic form of human civil rights for all. It is my sincerest hope that Beehive Meals takes this deplorable and unacceptable event manufactured by *their* employee (Ana) to seriously reevaluate its policies; and will ensure that all customers are treated with respect, as well as the highest level of consideration for the medical safety (allergies) and dietary religious restrictions of their consumers; as well as to "do no harm." Until these things can happen, I cannot recommend their services to others -- most especially those within all Muslim communities, and those who have *any* type of allergies or serious medical reactions, within their vast and growing service areas (both in and outside of Utah). UPDATE: This review is being posted here, on Yelp, because it is apparent the Beehive Meals website is powered and run by Shopify and "paid-for" plugins. As such, when you visit their website to read their over 800 reviews, you will *only* find 99.9% five-star and less than 0.1% four-star reviews. It is apparent they "hide" any reviews that are anything less than favorable/desirable to viewers (and will undoubtedly 'hide' this one if posted there). Also, as a "Shopify business," they have opted out of becoming verified by Google (and Google Reviews) which is a more trusted/reliable review source (followed by Yelp). read more

I really wanted to love these meals, as they provide such easy ideas, but there were maybe 2 out of the whole month that were passable for a meal. They were heavily spiced for kids, or the noodles would be soggy in an Italian meal, or the sauce would be too buttery. My kids did not like these meals (and they're not picky eaters!). I was excited to save time with Beehive meals but it was a big disappointment. 1) you still need to supplement the meals, so you're not really saving that much time. You need to cook some rice, potatoes, or something to go along with the meals. depending on the meal I had to look online and try to be creative which meant I was still putting time to plan what to eat with these meals. 2) not that tasty. I could get a tastier and cheaper ravioli at Costco. one of the soups were spicy and only my husband ate it. The Chicken Alfredo was beyond greasy and I had to dump the Oil which was separated from the cream. it also curdled so I had to spend time and make a mix of water and flour to thicken the sauce. It tasted decent. though. The beef corn Mac and cheese was the only meal I'd say was tasty out of 10 average and below average meals. If the meals were truly convenient, not requiring any extra work on the side, I'd *maybe* consider keeping my subscription, but it's not super convenient and the meals are super standard and nothing special. read more

I have given Beehive Meals a solid 3 months before I decided to write a review. Month 1 was a rocky start, I feel like everything we cooked was over cooked (I followed instructions to a T) which resulted in all the protein being over cooked and dry AF. Once I figured out the proper cooking time with my specific crockpot (2 hour time difference than listed on the packaging) things were better in that area. Being cooked properly helped however, 90% of the dishes were lacking essential seasonings...like salt and pepper. I was constantly adding something more to just give the dish some flavor. Last night I cooked the Kalua Pork, and it was so salty it was completely uneditable. There were dishes that were okay a few that were good, but nothing that was fantastic contrary to all the Instagram influencers reviews (they must be paying them well, or these people have never had good food). I don't feel like the convenience is worth the money. We have been doing meal delivery boxes for years, and this is one I won't give a second thought to when switching subscriptions. I wish it was better, I feel like they had good options when it came to Gluten Free dishes. As someone who has a Gluten allergy I appreciate. I think one thing that would be nice would be having the option to choose your dishes. Some of them are so calorie dense, I have to give them away. read more

Okay, my first advice about Beehive Meals is to wait for a month menu where every meal sounds good to you and your family. That is what my family did; we have been checking for the past 6 months and the August menu sounded great to us so we tried it. We have 2 teenagers and 2 parents at home and we chose the largest size meals. They have been a great size and we usually get at least 2 meals out of each dinner. We follow the directions on the bag and we also use the side dish suggestions from the website. My kids have loved each meal; in fact, they have been surprised they were pre-prepared. I can understand that how one month of menu's may not work for every family so if you are trying this for the first time, just wait until the menu appeals to you and I think you'll have a better experience. We would absolutely order again when the menu suits our family; having these 10 meals in the freezer has taken so much stress away from wondering what to prepare for dinner. Make sure you know your slow cooker and if it cooks fast or slow and then adjust accordingly. read more

These meals are a great idea. However, from this company they are not good. My home did smell delicious as they were slow cooking. Sadly out of the six people in my family none of them liked any of the meals except for one. All leftovers were thrown away and one meal was completely thrown away after trying one bite as no one in the family would dare eat it (I did make every one try one bite and they all complained. (which was the norm with these meals so I didn't think much of it). then I sat down and took a bite and tasted just how horrible it was at that we just tossed all of it). The concept is great and maybe if they could get better ingredients and better recipes they will have hope for the future but as it stands right now during this pandemic in March 2020 I would never recommend buying the food.
