I thought I had canceled my subscription while we were living in Idaho for several months, but apparently I had only skipped a month. A new order was shipped to our home in California while we were away the food completely melted. my in-laws saw it by chance sitting there. I contacted customer service and explained the situation. I also explained that my dietary needs have temporarily changed while preparing for IVF, but that I planned to resume ordering after my first trimester. They refused to offer any refund or reasonable accommodation. What really bothered me was when I asked the representative, Ella, if they would rather lose a returning customer who would likely spend thousands of dollars with them over time instead of helping with this one order. We ordered July's meals and really loved them. We ordered August's meals and they were not edible. Each meal had too much seasoning/spices in them. The Chicken burrito bowl was filled with overpowering onions. The Hawaiian Pork, Chicken Alfredo, Chicken Noodle Soup, and the Tomato Basil Soup were as if someone poured a whole bottle of spices/seasonings on them drowning out every taste but the seasonings. We couldn't even taste the tomatoes through the spices in the Tomato Basil Soup. We even scraped off some of the seasonings before we cooked the meals and it didn't help. Very disappointed. We are soup people - well, I became one after marrying my husband last year - and also empty nesters who live in a rural area, about a half hour from most restaurants. So, we were excited when we came across Beehive Meals, because we don't have to cook quite as much. We have a small portable electronic freezer that we take on trips that we use for our soups. It's so easy to pick one that we're in the mood to eat, plop it in our Instant Pot on the slow cooker setting a couple of hours before lunch or dinner and open the lid to homemade goodness. We really like the variety, too. I have read reviews where people say they aren't flavorful enough. Unfortunately, they did not post my review on their website, which I understand, they have full control of who and what review gets published, especially when the main issue was originated by them. So, here is my attempt to let people know why I didn't like their service and I finally, after weeks of asking, they now have schedule deleting all my personal information from their database, systems, etc. Look, I can be a royal Karen, but I try to give mercy whenever possible, but these guys from the beginning, have been nothing but bad service. 1) Their instructions as to how and what to add to the meals are not clear, to say the least. Very little print in the packaging alluding as to what to add if anything to the meal, and if the package gets wet, forget reading it. 2) Not an easy way to find directions on how to cook or prep your meal on their website, you almost have to dig into their hidden treasure sites to find the directions. Looks like they just want to sale you a frozen meal, and see ya later alligator, don't bother asking anything else!! 3) As a new customer, I would have expected more of an on hands approach, literally walking me through the process on the how -tos for their service, but nothing, it was nothing from them, not even a pamflet telling me what to expect or do next. 4) First box arrived at 930 pm, really? who expects food delivery at 930 unless is ready to eat? Their excuse was, "it is the delivery carrier's fault." Well Beehive, you contracted them, so it is your responsibility, don't push the bucket, we have plenty of that at the whitehouse. 5) On the order that broke the camels back, they sent me conflicting confirmation order details which lead me to contact them, which led me to find out, "ups....your box was damaged while in transit and we canceled your order, a new box is on its way," which would have placed me 2 days late on my meal plan. So, instead of them owning the entire process and mistakes of their on doing and doing the right thing, they just, "oh, sure, lets cancel everything, have a nice day." Really!! that type of customer service deserves a good review, well, not you Karen, oh no, not you!! 6) I wrote them a review, they have never accepted or published my review and no one has contacted me on all my emails asking them to either post or tell me what did I say that was inaccurate or inappropriate for their website, nope they just ignored it. So, it wasn't until I called their office an someone answered that they initiated the request for canceling and closing my account. Very sad that a local Utah company would treat their consumers like this, but again, their privately own, and of course, they can do whatever they want, as long as you write them a 5 star review and/or don't call them on their own mistakes. Some of the meals are good, but it is so overpriced for what you actually get. I made a roast meal today that was supposed to be for six people. The calorie count per serving was 220 calories. In what universe is that a meal? Most meat should have a serving size of at least 3-4 ounces. To feed 6 people you need 18-24 ounces. The meal today had far less than half of that and an about a teaspoon per person of vegetables. If they wanted to be honest, it should be called beehive side dishes or beehive snacks. In no reality can you call any of these pre-packaged things a meal. It's way easier and more cost efficient to buy a main dish from Costco and add your own sides. read more

Very slow shipping and dishonest communications. I ordered a time-sensitive food gift on 2/19. Didn't hear anything until a week later - 2/25 - when they claimed that UPS had asked them not to ship anything because of poor weather. How ridiculous! I checked UPS and there were no delivery alerts and on the face of it, when does UPS ask businesses NOT TO SHIP?? The gift finally shipped on 3/2 - ELEVEN days after ordered. Beehive Meals has made dinners at my house so easy! I no longer stress about what we're eating, going to the store for ingredients, cooking, and cleaning up a huge mess. They've given me back my sanity and time! During the week we have four people in the house (my boyfriend, myself, and my two kids). We purchase the freezer meals for 5-6 people and that feeds the 4 of us with occasional leftovers. Beehive Meals provides the main course, but I add the sides (like a veggie, salad, or rolls). Cooking dinner is so simple now. I grab a dinner from the freezer, pop it in to the crockpot (use a liner for easy cleanup), and turn it on. It slow cooks anywhere from 3 to 6 hours depending on the instructions. If it's a chicken dish, I'll shred it at the end and then pop it back in while I'm finishing the sides. It's so simple and easy....and delicious! Beehive Meals drops the freezer meals off at my house in a black insulated bag (I'll upload pics after my next delivery on the 19th). We've been subscribers on and off for about 9 months. We originally signed up for postpartum meals and really appreciated the gluten-free option. The food is convenient, fairly easy-to-use, and great when you don't want to figure out dinner but... 1. the meals really lack flavor, creativity, and variety. (My freezer right now has about 7 Beehive Meals bags that are basically just chicken breast frozen in a sauce.) 2. A lot of the sauces are really sweet, really salty, really buttery, or really bland. 3. Most require you to cook something to serve the meals over like pasta or rice or it's meat like the sloppy joes or marinara sauce and you have to provide your own accompaniments. 4. The meals are small. We get, on average, 1.5 chicken breasts per meal for 2 people. 5. One of our meals had pork that had been packaged way past its prime. It was green and we had to throw it away. I purchased 10 meals for a friend having a baby. when I purchased them I had decided I wanted to wait on the subscription , so I cancelled the subscription. In turn cancelled my delivery. So a couple days later i checked on it again and it was still showing cancelled. So I placed a new order, when that order was placed it charged me twice. I did receive two boxes, however that is not what I had ordered. I contacted customer service and they told me there is nothing they can do about it. Disappointed in these. I have seen a lot of influencers rave about these and I'm just kind of confused. They all taste the same and they all end up as mush. I think because all the ingredients are frozen and then cooked together the quality is just poor. Also, almost every single meal ends up with a layer of grease/oil across the top. I had to rip the meals apart to separate them (because they were stuck together with sauce) and fit them in my freezer which I am hoping didn't make more holes. I'm not sure what to think regarding the customer service. They seemed very communicative at first (I'm talking very responsive with emails back and forth), but once I asked a simple question regarding discrepancies with macros I haven't heard anything back. Even if there is no answer right now, they should at least say they are looking into it, especially considering the kind of customer experience this gives off when you're very responsive one minute and no longer responsive right after a discrepancy is raised. Even if the timing is just a coincidence there should be enough self-awareness on their part to see how this looks. As far as the taste: (1) it's better than what I can do for myself (I can't cook to save my life) and (2) a lot cheaper than DoorDashing every meal or using a meal prep service ‍ This latest with their customer service (or lack thereof) leaves a bad taste in my mouth though and I will now be looking elsewhere where I otherwise would not have been. read more

I really want to like Beehive. It's extremely convenient and I like using my crock pot and providing my own sides. With that said, far too many of the meals center around shredded chicken. "Shredded chicken with a sugar chicken sauce" pretty much sums up the average meal you get from Beehive. The chicken noodle soup is inedible and we skip months when it is on the menu. Veggie Mac This is our 3rd Beehive meal. Pretty goo Directions say use 3 quart crockpot but does not indicate how much water. So assuming 3 Quarts, stirred contents in 3 quarts of water. After 2 hours on low in the crockpot pot...only slightly warm and obviously far too diluted to be useful. Will continue with elbow pasta as instructed but at this point we will probably go out and order a pizza. Won't post this until we finish with the poor directions and hope for the best. I found Beehive Meals through an ad and am so glad it targeted me - I ordered for the first time last month and am so pleased. I am a busy mom and professional, so when I forget to plan ahead for dinner, I throw one of these prepped meals in the crockpot and have a fresh, healthy, delicious meal made with real ingredients (and printed on the label which I appreciate!) for less than takeout or eating out. The portions are very large and even for my hungry family we usually have plenty of leftovers which is awesome. Plus, the best part: they deliver!! Other meal prep companies don't offer this and you have to go pickup but with Beehive you just put a cooler out on your porch and they drop off all the meals contact-free and then you put in your freezer. I love the idea. We are a family of four since I have a daughter in college. Me and my husband, then a 13,10 year old. So I thought I'll pick the 3-4 servings package since I have a really picky son. Now I understand that it's not a complete meal. I did the bang bang chicken for my first meal. I was SHOCKED when I took it out of the package and put it in my crockpot. It was one chicken breast total. How is one chicken breast supposed to feed 3 to 4 people. Also chicken cooks down and its weight when cooked. It did not even feed me, my husband and my 13 year old. I will say the chicken and sauce were delicious. But I had to run to the grocery store and buy more chicken to put in the meal. I contacted customer service about my experience and told them how disappointed I was and they offered me a $25 gift card on my next order. That is all they did. Their customer service is just as bad as their portion sizing. They stated they go by USDA's recommendation which is .25 of a pound or 4 ounces of meat per person for dinner. That is not realistic. It is not stated on their website anywhere the customer service rep gave me this information. I looked all through their website and that is not stated, if that would've been stated I would've gone for the bigger package the 5 to 6 person meal since it was $30 more. I now have meals for two people instead of three and four people, and I now have to go buy more food to go with the nails that I've already purchased to make a dinner for my family and it ended up costing me more money. We usually will add pasta, rice or whatever suggestion for each meal along with fresh fruit and vegetables. The serving size allows for us to have leftovers for a couple days which gives us a break from cooking as well.
