The Beef House is not far from our house. If it hadn't been for Yelp I would still have no clue it was there. Walking in you get the impression you've stepped back a few years. It is a place to get a solid meal. The utensils were of low quality but served their purpose. We both got a kick out of the mismatched coffee mugs. That one fact may have defined Beef House best. I got the steak and Tish got the CFS. The steak was on the tough side but tasty. Tish was impressed that the CFS wasn't all breading. I can't comment as I didn't taste it myself. She is pregnant and was craving the calf liver and onions with brown gravy and fried okra. I had the chicken fried steak with pinto beans and green beans. We shared plates and both were amazing--the liver and onions were the best I've ever had (sorry Mom!). Based on what I saw the other customers enjoying, I'm looking forward to trying the meatloaf, fried catfish, chicken and dumplins, and half-pound burger. I'm also wanting to try their steak and eggs. My chicken fried steak, fried okra, and my friend's chicken fried chicken were obviously just pre-prepared frozen items that had been tossed in the fryer. Our green beans were bland and clearly right out of a can. The rolls and cornbread were dry and hard. The only thing that was rather good was the mashed potatoes. Ordered this off of Uber eats not expecting much. Was wowed!!! Bacon bacon bacon!!! You get the crispy parts of the meat equaled with the tenderness of the fatty parts. Bacon is usually hard all over(over cooked) or limp ( under cooked). Also had a waffle and eggs over medium. Both were equally delicious but it is harder to get those wrong. Last night, my brother mentioned he had been craving fried chicken, so I said, "Ok, let's go get fried chicken. Where do you want to go?" Lo and behold, Wednesdays are All You Can Eat fried chicken served with two sides. This was the best fried chicken I have eaten since I went to Mrs. Winner's Fried Chicken in Atlanta several years ago. The pieces are HOT to the touch and I had to let them cool, so I worked on my sides: mashed potatoes with cream gravy and green beans. Delicious! KFC does NOT do chicken right. The Beef House does! I started with a breast and wing while my brother had a leg and thigh. Then they brought out a leg and thigh for us to fight over. LOL Not really fight... I got the thigh and he got the leg. It's a great price for all you can eat, even though we could only eat three pieces each. We were stuffed, but not enough to order pie. I had chocolate cream. Yum!
