Prime rib with mushrooms on top, smashed red potatoes and 3 shrimp
    Jan K.

After searching Ron Faiola's WI supper club list, we made reservations at Beedle's and it was a good thing we did. The dining room and bar filled up fast! We had a booth in the dimly lit dining room. Our server, Tori, was okay, but if we go back in the future we'd definitely request a table in Jacob's section. He was far more informative about the menu and specials (it was like pulling teeth with Tori), was very friendly, and checked in/cleared some plates a couple times when he was passing by. Beedle's salad bar was an average size. We avoided the iceberg lettuce as a lot of it was brown, and went with romaine instead, but they had a good selection of salad toppings as well as potato salad, coleslaw, beets, etc. The salad bar also offered a Moroccan stew for the night. The Coulee Combo appetizer was big, and contained deep fried mushrooms, onion rings and cheese curds. I ordered a cosmopolitan and it was seriously the most bland cosmo I've had. I don't know if they were running low on lime juice and cranberry juice, but it was one sad drink. For entrees we both had the prime rib and it was magnificent. You pretty much didn't need a knife it was that tender, and the seasoning was just right. We wrapped up our meal by sharing a Brandy Alexander and it was daunting in size and tasted delightful. To close, make reservations, request Jacob as your server, watch out for that iceberg lettuce & avoid the cosmopolitan, and order the prime rib and an ice cream drink for dessert!!

Great atmosphere, friendly service and patrons, massive burgers and good prices. Good selection of taps and wine. Definitely a cut above.

While not always on the menu, ask for a raspberry lemon drop and you won't regret it. The BEST one I've ever had. I will be begging the bartenders to teach me their ways before they close their doors. This is our top choice in town to celebrate accomplishments and achievements. The tavern and patio offer a more casual ambiance, while the restaurant itself is chic and has an element of more formality. The staff is always ALWAYS incredible and thoughtful. The food is always on point, interesting, and flavorful. This place will be well-missed come March, but I know I will be back here plenty in the mean time to get my fill and and support this staff before then.

We were so fortunate that they were able to seat us on the outdoor patio facing the water. This restaurant isn't just great for the views--the food and drinks here were phenomenal as well. Our appetizers of beer-battered cheese curds and mussels were so flavorful and hit the spot. We also loved our fish tacos and linguini with scallops (I absolutely loved the crushed red pepper that came with it too!). Our food all paired nicely with their extensive cocktail/drinks menu, which included many different breweries and distilleries. This is one of those restaurants you'll remember visiting forever--definitely come visit if you can!

The Supper Club Standard: A Night of Steaks and Levity at Jones' Black Angus…read moreOn the sprawling Highway 18 in Prairie du Chien, Jones' Black Angus stands as a stalwart of the Wisconsin supper club tradition--a place where the atmosphere is as thick as the cuts of beef and the hospitality feels like an invitation into a neighbor's dining room. The experience is anchored by a service staff that possesses that rare blend of professional precision and genuine personality. Our waitress, Grace, was the heartbeat of the evening. She navigated the floor with a warmth that felt entirely unscripted, providing a level of care that culminated in a particularly touching gesture: when one member of our party stepped away during the presentation of the dessert tray, Grace made a point of returning later to ensure he received the full, choreographed "view" of the nightly sweets. The culinary journey begins at the salad bar, which is--to put it simply--impeccable. In an era where many establishments have retired this particular ritual, Jones' maintains it with a freshness and variety that honors the tradition. However, the evening's primary entertainment came in the form of a recurring linguistic gag. When the soup of the day arrived--a dish that was, by all sensory accounts, a classic gumbo--Grace insisted with a wink that it was "jambalaya." The ensuing debate became the running joke of the night, a bit of shared levity that only a truly great server can cultivate. But the kitchen is not just about the sides and the stories. The filet was impeccable--perfectly seasoned, expertly seared, and possessing that melt-in-the-mouth quality that justifies the Black Angus name. My sincere compliments to the chef for a masterclass in steakhouse fundamentals. "A great steakhouse is about more than just the meat; it's about the memory of the meal." -- Unknown Jones' Black Angus is a reminder of why the supper club remains a beloved institution. Between the "jambalaya" jests, the meticulously curated salad bar, and a filet that commands respect, it is a destination that delivers both a full heart and a full plate. My mom said that if was totally my vibe and boy was she right. After winding down some gravel roads outside of Decorah we came across this restaurant that looks more like a cabin. It's cozy with limited tables inside and a beautiful patio space with Christmas lights, gorgeous views of the woods surrounding the property, and heaters for when it gets chilly. They had a great cocktail list with seasonal offerings and a food menu that made it difficult to choose what to order. Everything sounded good and we finally decided that we had to go with the surf and turf because I love shrimp, but heard how amazing the steaks are. We had these amazing little eggrolls with a sweet chili sauce and I loved the French onion soup. It's no wonder this restaurant ranked number one in five different categories this year by OpenTable for Iowa. If I could give you a couple of recommendations based off of my experience, it would be to make sure you have a reservation because it fills up and if you enjoy red meat, you have to get a steak. This 4 ounce fillet had me wishing that I had opted for the ribeye instead just because I wanted more.

Our server, Gracie, was phenomenal in all regards, and from now on I'll always make reservations and request a table in her section. We weren't insanely hungry so we skipped appetizers, soup, salad. My husband order the Chicken Tchoupitoulas and I selected the medallions of beef with bernaise sauce. My guy's chicken was addictive; I only got a little nibble but I'd be hard-pressed not to order it from now on. The Chicken Chop was flavor-forward, with succulent chicken and veggies. The medallions I selected were cooked medium rare as requested, juicy and tender, but lacked seasoning. The mashed potatoes that were on my plate needed more butter and/or gravy. I think the big issue with this place would be parking, as it's in a high-traffic area and doesn't have it's own lot. Even going for dinner as early as we did, street parking was scarce.
