Beecher's Handmade Cheese is one of the few options you have at the LAX Bradley International Departure Terminal. Among the options I had to pick from, this ne didn't have a line and the food wasn't too heavy for the travels. However it isn't cheap. Nothing is cheap at the airport, so if you're not okay with a $20+ meal, pack something from home. Beecher has some breakfast options, grilled cheeses, mac and cheese, some prepacked cheese and nuts items, soups, and coffee. I ordered from their kiosk and I got the Bacon, Egg, and Cheese Breakfast Sandwich ($21) that comes with a chipotle spread. Considering there was no line at the kiosk, there seemed to be a lot of people waiting. Maybe they ordered previously and stepped away. It was a little slow but probably not as bad as other spots at the terminal. The breakfast sandwich itself had a nice grilled exterior. The bacon could have been more crispy but it is what it is. First time trying this place. I've never seen one outside of LAX. The Egg and Cheese sandwich is delicious. I wish I could have it at least once a week. The staff are nice, orders take a bit of time to be ready, so plan for that. I went with takeout and just ate somewhere else. They do have bar seating if you want to eat there. You know what, for an airport joint in the United States of America, Beecher's Handmade Cheese is outstanding. Unlike most other eateries at LAX--that weird ghost town of 2010s restaurants that licensed their names before their deaths--the food at this stall bears some relation to the entity it appears to represent. The cheese, at least, is Beecher's cheese. I went to France with my mom and my two kids last month, and we grabbed a quick dinner here before catching our flight out. Service was fast, and we found a table in the general food court area. My mom and I split a sandwich and a salad, and both were solid, though the sandwich was the clear winner. This was the chicken and Mama Lil's sandwich, made with Beecher's Flagship cheese, Just Jack, Mama Lil's peppers, Mama Lil's mayo, and arugula. I love Mama Lil's pickled peppers, and they made this sandwich pretty tasty. The grab-and-go salad was boring but fine, with quinoa, tomato, arugula, Beecher's Flagship, chicken, salt, and pepper. My kids were being crazy but ate a little bit of their grilled cheese and "World's Best" mac and cheese. I ended up eating a bunch of the mac and cheese, too, and it was quite good, soft penne with Beecher's Original, Flagship, and Just Jack, plus some spices. I feel like Beecher's has an advantage over the competition because its proprietary cheeses (and Mama Lil's peppers) are standardized and trusted enough to clear whatever restrictions make other airport food so shitty. There's something about big, bold signage with cheese written on it that appeals to a weary American traveler in LAX. A well known brand of mac & cheese for many years I had to try it. First off, it's expensive - $12 for an 8oz side portion. Taste was ok, distinct, but very soupy. Not the best I've had and not worth $12, but it is in the airport so every place in here has hyperinflated pricing. Service was fast for carryout and it was packaged up piping hot, but don't bother trying to sit at any of the stools around their bar or their booth seat because they are only reserved for dine-in patrons and it's an extra 20% on the bill to sit there. The cashier was quick to chase us out since she saw us place a kiosk order. Not a great experience, but I'm glad I was able to try the famous Beecher's handmade cheese. Horrible service, forced 20% tip, and irresponsible staff This was the worst dining experience I've had in LA. I ordered breakfast here with my son, and the quality of the food was sub-par. The staff was incredibly unfriendly, and they even refused to give me hot water without an extra charge. What infuriated me the most was the automatic 20% gratuity. When I questioned this and asked for a manager, the staff casually told me the manager wasn't in yet because it was early. They forced me into a corner where I had no choice but to pay their ridiculous tip because I had a flight to catch. Tips should be earned through good service, not forced on trapped travelers. We sat at the bar and ordered these items: - Bloody Mary (his and what a rip off it is) - Small mac and cheese - chicken sausage, egg and cheese sandwich - side of fruit Zach and I shared the mac and cheese and the sandwich. Both of these items were fairly decent. I couldn't see where the food was coming from, but it at least tasted like the sandwich was made in house. The cheese in both the pasta and the sandwich tasted good. The mac and cheese was hot at least, but I don't think it was cooked fresh. Zach said the bloody mary was average and not worth $20. Food quality is so disappointing, even for an airport. The Caesar must be a grocery store bagged salad. But the menu really sold it as an upscale item with Kale, Anchovies, Garlic, etc. No kale at all, just chopped iceberg. Half the croutons were soft and moist. They add an automatic 20 percent tip to your bill but the card reader doesn't show that part and ask if you want to tip. The employee should mention that part or have the charges show on the card reader. I'll pay the tip but very tricky of them to have you pay thinking you're being charged for the food or drink. read more

We always have access to the United Lounge when we fly with United (Lifetime Gold - million miler, and in recent years as Virgin Gold we had access to their group lounge on the 6th floor - and so we usually just brush past the eating holes at LAX - but this time we were flying Virgin and despite being in Premier seating discovered that it got us no lounge access (my Gold status lapsed). I must say that the United Lounges both LHR and LAX are excellent. Virgin at LHR is outstanding but LAX is, well disappointing. So we just grabbed bites in the airport itself and, to be honest, it was much more enjoyable that the crowded second rate lounge on the 6th floor. I had the Mac and cheese and it was very good - almost as Mrs G's pride and joy. I enjoyed it very much, the time flew and it kept me going until we ate on the flight (which was better than usual! I was really disappointed with my experience here. First, the prices are already high--$27 for a double vodka is steep--but what really got me was the mandatory 20% tip. That meant I paid an extra $11 in tips for just two drinks, without any say in the matter. I have no problem tipping for good service, but if you're going to force a 20% gratuity, then at least provide service that justifies it. Great little place in LAX for a sandwich and a nice glass of wine or cocktail. I enjoyed coming here before my very long 15+ hour international flight. Ian was very helpful in making food recommendations. He also let me have a taste of two dry white wines (a pinio Grigio and a Spanish wine). I inhaled a Grilled cheese sandwich which had Monterey Jack cheese in it (MMM) and side salad. Also had a glass of the Bodega Garzon - Albariño Reserva wine which was crisp and dry. If you know me, you know I love me some mac & cheese. Beecher's has a location at the International terminal at LAX. My first experience with Beecher's was in Seattle and I guess they are expanding. I chose the 8 oz cup and asked for an ice water which they charge for. It's unfortunate but cheaper than a bottle of water from a different vendor.
