BUTTERNUT SQUASH SOUP - NOT. I just ordered butternut squash soup at the counter - to go - but I stayed and ate at a table. It was quiet - there was only 1 other customer ordering at the time. Only problem - it was VEGETABLE soup, NOT butternut squash soup. There was no trace of butternut squash, no creamy sweet taste of butternut squash. There was a broth that resembled a typical vegetable soup, a little spicy (pepper and other spices), filled with lots of veggies (mostly corn but some potatoes and others). It was just OK - not what I wanted or expected. I asked the young lady working there what the story was. She spoke to the chef in the back and came with "this is butternut squash soup". I was here a few weeks ago, ordered the butternut squash soup and yes, it tasted like the real thing and was actually good. So what is going on? I inquired again, at which time the young lady asked the chef to come to the front, and said to the chef "the customer said that I am lying". Let's be clear - I never called the young lady a liar. Ignorance is not lying. I inquired. When I asked the chef about the soup he did not answer. Unclear if there is a language barrier, but he did not nod or respond to the question. Finally, before I left I asked the young lady to satisfy my curiousity and provide a sample of the butternut squash soup. She refused, saying "no, it is the same soup". So what is the truth? You decide. I am not going back. In the past I have had smoothies and soup there and no issues. I only wanted the truth. And by the way, the vegetable soup that I had was mediocre - not recommended. Found this cute restaurant while waiting for lirr. The place is super cute colorful and inviting. I ate my lunch outside was so peaceful. Big portions and plenty of options. I ordered the Buddha Bowl and hummus with bread. Salad was so fresh and crisp perfect for a spin time. I added a salmon patty which was pretty flavorful. The place was really swamped on a weekday morning but that was no excuse to pay no attention to what I was made. Bee-Organic is a cute little restaurant in downtown Great Neck, with a focus on vegan food and fresh fruit smoothies. The decor inside is a combination of casual coffee shop and hobo chic, with an entire wall of knick knacks lining the main dining area that may or may not have been for sale. My girl friends and I went for dinner on a weeknight, which was just busy enough for the one hostess/waitress working there. The smoothies were fresh and blended well, and thankfully not too pulpy. My mushroom burger was open faced and did not come with a bun, which was not quite what I expected. But the waitress was nice enough to bring me a piece of bread to serve as my carb fix. This place is my new favorite. A friend introduced me to this place and I was so impressed with the food and the zen atmosphere. We ordered the Acai Bowl, an Avocado Toast, Scramble Eggs, a Nutella Crepe with fresh berries, and a few rounds of coffee. Food was more on the expensive side since everything is organic but it was definitely worth the quality of the food. The Acai Bowl was my absolute favorite - basically chilled acai smoothie topped with banana, strawberries, blueberries, granola, and coconut flakes. The avocado toast and crepe were so pretty to look at that I didn't even want to eat it. Portions were large and I will come again. **P.S. Service is on the slower side as many have mentioned below. One of the worst services I have ever encountered for a small business. What a shame. First of all, I have been to bee organic many times ordering their açaí fruit bowls. Every single time, the fruit bowls were inconsistent. Most of the time, there are just a few pieces of strawberries in there tossed with 4-5 blueberries on top of the smoothie blend. However, last sunday there was a nice gentleman working in the evening and the bowl he made was legitimate for the price they charged. However, i ordered two bowls tonight and went to pick them up and both the bowls were half full with 3 pieces of strawberries and 4 pieces of blueberries tossed in each bowl. (SEE PICTURE ATTACHED). I confronted the girl named Katya (self proclaimed manager/daughter of the business owner) who made the bowls about the lack of fruit toppings and her attitude and customer service skills were atrocious. I explained that i had just ordered a bowl last Sunday and a nice young gentleman made my bowl which I was content with but these bowls were only half full with very lacking in fruit. She slashed back saying that's all the fruit they had and all their bananas are frozen and not fresh. So we asked for a refund which she refused. To the business owner- if you are going to hire your daughter/family member to work at your establishment, please improve on customer service skills. Terrible attitude really doesn't mix well with customers who are paying for your food. Try not to be so cheap with an açaí bowl that's half full with lack of fruit toppings as advertised. Consistency with the prepared foods would be much appreciated. As for service, ONE OF THE SLOWEST services i have ever experienced based on all my experiences ordering food here. I personally will be staying far far away from bee organic and will be sharing my terrible personal experiences here with others. It's not worth the headache dealing with unfriendly, terrible customer service. If im giving a business money, i should be walking away happy, right ? A trendy spot serving organic food in great neck. It's about a block from the train station, With limited street parking. They have outdoor tables, which on a sunny day is very cool. Inside tables with walls lined stuff ( I don't know it's trendy). The word nook comes to mind. They have a variety of food on the menu and shakes and they juice (I love places that juice). I posted pictures of the menu, and some pictures of what the inside looks like. Some of the food items look expensive, but that what happens when you do the organic thing. The waitresses were nice. They were quick and offered menus, napkins and something to drink. I appreciate that. In the end, I ordered a juice to go. I didn't notice a bathroom. This is a cute organic eatery in Great neck, with really good veggie burgers. And great organic juices. But they are ALWAYS understaffed. And from what I've seen (and heard) it is not that clean! They need to clean the place thoroughly and keep the flies out! Get an exterminator or stop leaving the doors open. LOL. For the prices you charge you can afford to hire a few new workers. And/or get a cleaning crew. The service is definitely slow. But they have gotten slightly better over time. Again, you need to hire more workers. Bee Organic transports me back to Bali. It's a little piece of serene heaven with the most diverse menu and indoor and outdoor seating, conveniently located right in my hometown and by the train station. I've tried their oolong and black teas, and their acai bowl is fresh and filling. But their Chlorophyll (kale, collard greens, apple, celery, lemon) and Healthy Glow (cucumber, celery, parsley, mint, lemon) juices take the cake! I want to try every single one they make, but I just feel like an utterly cleansed goddess after one of these juices. I'm so happy I decided to trek it over to Great Neck this beautiful Saturday morning for some healthy eats from Bee Organic. Everything from the ambiance to food to service was excellente! The shop isn't large but their menu is. They offer teas, juices, smoothies, breakfast items like french toast and omlettes, crepes, fresh baked pastries, salads, sandwiches, burgers and wraps. There really are a variety of items to choose from. The decor is perfection; Buddhas in every nook and cranny, unique light fixtures over the tables, expressive wall decals, an interesting collection of books and cute mosaic tables for outdoor seating. I started with their "Pure Chlorophyll" juice which was exactly what I expected. Nutritious, regenerating and green. The flavor is that of what you'd expect from a kale, collard greens, celery, apple and lemon juice. But maybe some honey would have made it a bit more tolerable. The banana french toast with raw honey I ordered was the absolute best! The flavor was spot on and the bread they used had a seeded crust which was a nice change in texture. The honey added just the perfect amount of natural sweetness. I also got a side of scrambled eggs and toast which I enjoyed. Cute down to earth spot. Everything on the menu sounded interesting and tempting but I ordered the spinach and tomato quesadilla and my daughter got the butternut squash soup. We had a pot of tea (they have a good selection) while we waited which was good as the food took some time to come out. The quesadilla wasn't pressed, and there was hardly any spinach inside. It came with a side of guacamole so that kind of distracted me from the less than stellar dish. My daughter's soup however was really good. The girls that work there were pleasant.
