I went to this place because I had an slice of pizza at a party and I thought it was delicious but when I actually went to try it, not sure if it wasn't fresh or the flavor change but it wasn't what I expected. I also ordered the fried calamari and it felt weird, I guess the lemons improved the taste but it wasn't enough. I went to Umbertos to pick up some Sicilian slices and can't believe the price over $16 for 3 slices. My family and I grew up on Umbertos Pizza in NHP and I was happy to see a location in Manhasset when I moved to the North Shore. But over $16 for 3 slices is TOO Much. I can get a whole delicious pie and garlic knots in Glen cove for $23. I gave it 2 stars based only on the price the pizza was still delicious. read more

Im being generous by giving 4 stats. Overall, the food was good - the clams had a lot of flavor and the branzino dish I ordered was broiled to perfection. The atmosphere is simple, like a glorified pizzeria, which is totally fine. My only complaint is the service- our waiter kept rushing us. After only a minute of sitting down he came to take our order. Then he came back a moment later. When we did place our order he didn't ask if we wanted any beverages. I asked if we could place a drink order and when I ordered my glass of wine he walked away without even asking what my friend wanted to drink. I don't know what the rush was... it wasn't a busy evening. Ordered take out from here for dinner today, for the second time and had a good experience. I tried the Portobello salad, which I asked for without tomatoes but they did add them. I removed them so it's not a huge deal. Besides that the salad was great, all ingredients were fresh and the portion was huge. The baked ziti was absolutely delicious and my favorite. I split some of this and the portion was enough for two people. It also came with bread and a side caesar salad. Overall, I would come here again! My family and I have been going to Umbertos on Jericho Tpke for over 30 yrs. We love their pasta dishes, hot hero sandwiches and brick oven pizzas. We were ecstatic when the opened the Manhasset location which is just a few blocks from our house. We still go back to the Jericho location but it's convenient to go to the Plandome restaurant. My daughter and her friends love going to Umbertos for lunch between classes. I would highly recommend Umbertos for their food, service abd ambience. You can't go wrong dining at Umbertos in Manhasset, New Hyde Park or Lake Grove. read more

I witnessed over the years the progressive decline in quality. More cream, butter and salt and less good ingredients. The last drop is the once-very-good pesto gnocchi which are now a mesh of buttery dough with parsley...parsley...parsley...yes...let me repeat...parsley...nonna is sick in the grave! So I've been here a handful of times. Their service is not the best. For some reason, this place likes to hire people who have clearly never worked in the service industry in their lives. Case in point - had dinner here yesterday and the waiter hardly knew about any of the wines available. Our order had to be confirmed twice because this initial waiter did not know what they were talking about. I ordered pizza and it came to me burnt. Usually come here if I am in the area. However, I am very close to not coming back ever. The other umberto pizzerias are much better. I recommend the one on Jericho turnpike in New Hyde Park. The ambiance in this place is nice. First let me start off by saying I lived in New Hyde Park for 30yrs I love NHP Umberto's. Best Sicilian pizza if they don't burn the crust Saturday I went to Manhasset. Horrible. We've been living here for 21 years and have only ever stopped in for a few slices of pizza during lunch. On this occasion, we had the opportunity to eat dinner here and it was surprisingly good. Service was very good. We started with a bottle of inexpensive red wine and some baked clams. The wine was totally acceptable and the baked clams were fresh, plump, seasoned well and served with a rich sauce (maybe olive oil and butter?-but very flavorful and perfect for dipping the complimentary, warm Italian bread). Our entrees were the scallops with risotto, linguine with white clam sauce, and the homemade sausage with broccoli rabe and sweet red peppers. Scallops were on the small side, but fresh and delicious, as was the risotto, served correctly, al dente, still slightly firm in the center. Linguine with white clam sauce included plump littlenecks in a flavorful, garlicky olive oil base, pasta was also just a touch past al dente, but totally delicious. The best dish of the night was the homemade sausage and broccoli rabe served with a side of linguine and marinara sauce. The sausage was juicy, not over cooked and the broccoli rabe was sauteed in sliced garlic and garnished with some sweet red pepper slices as well. The fennel wasn't strong and not overly salted. The serving size was generous and easily served 2. We finished up with some cappuccinos. Totally surprised that we haven't eaten dinner here sooner and also slightly surprised by the low ratings. Dinner for 3 with an appetizer and bottle of wine, tax and tip, just slightly under $200. Pretty fair for the quality, quantity and service. Manhasset is home. read more

One of my favorite spots for pizza! I would highly recommend trying the margartia. You can't go wrong with a classic. If you're someone who really likes toppings on their pizza, I would recommend trying out the porcini. It's a great crowd pleaser. For dessert, I would recommend the tiramisu. It's light as air! 3.5 stars. I came here to pick up some pizza during my lunch break because I work nearby. I walked and wondered why it wasnt busy like the NHP location. From the other yelpers reviews I see the possible reason why. However, I had a good experience. The staff was nice and fast. I ordered a regular slice and a Sicilian slice. It was decent but not as good as NHP. I would come back but I prefer the NHP location the food is more tasty. read more

I have had several bad experiences with Umberto's. I have had waiters treat me very disrespectfully. Most recently, I ordered a pizza for delivery. I live less than 1/4 mile from the store. My pizza arrived cold. When I called to complain the person answering the home said that they were busy and then after speaking to the manager she formed me that because I ate the pizza they could not do anything for me. Surprised by my rating - me too! This score was for the whole experience - ambiance/food/service/variety. Based on the Yelp reviews I read before coming here, I was thinking it'll be an ok place. For this dinner, I was either in this place on a very good night or the reviewers got it wrong?! Didn't even sound like the same place - puzzling. I was here on a Saturday night, no reservation. Since it was already close to 8:30pm, figured I had a chance to snag a table given the lackluster reviews. It also closes at 10:30pm so I also figured I'm going in on the last dinner service. My party of five waited between 8-10 minutes and then we were seated. The dining room is divided into two sides it would seem. One side for take out slices and dining for two (single booths) and the other, tables with chairs and one large banquette table in the front. That table looked cozy and perfect for 5-8 people. Do ask for that if you can reserve it. Eventually towards the back of the dining room, the space opens up. Much more comfortable tables back there. More elbow room and you'd be less on top of one another. Throughout the evening, the manager checked in on us a few times and even chatted us up with his recommendations. The wait staff while super busy, made sure to check in with us all throughout the ordering process and the meal. Truth be told, I barely had room for dessert but I just had to squeeze it in. My kids also wanted dessert since they shared a pizza as their dinner. So we ordered a few things to share. (Must try: the Nutella pizza - the crust on this was excellent! The way the Nutella/hazelnut spread was warm and gooey!) The hot food: Everyone's had Mussels before, especially the white or red sauce... This place presented a pesto and white Cannellini bean option - that was the one for me. I encouraged my family to try a different one and it was a win! The pesto sauce was refreshing and made the Mussels appetizer a much livelier dish than the usual. The surprise, the white Cannellini beans they mentioned were actually chick peas. Not sure if the menu is wrong or the kitchen figures it's the same (it's not) but it still worked in this dish. Good from the top to the bottom, bread on the side to sop up some of that sauce. Liked this a lot! Mussels were also medium sized not small, pleasant surprise since it was an appetizer. I ordered the veal osso bucco for my entree, braised 5 hours!! That sold it for me when the manager said that. It came with a plate full of cavatelli pasta. One complete dish. Everyone kept eying my entree and everyone asked for a taste. It was that good!! It was also a special that evening so in case you don't see it on the menu, that's why. It came with a mini spoon too, so I could scoop out the marrow. Heaven on a plate! Stopped by for a pizza dinner with friends. Ordered two pies. One was the Neapolitan pizza and the other was the grandma with broccoli rabe and sausage. The Neapolitan was average and nothing special about it. The crust layer is medium and not thin crust in case you like it on the thin side. The grandma pizza was delish and highly recommended. It can be a little salty due to the sausage for those salt sensitive but not excessively salty. Would give the Neapolitan pizza a 3 star rating and the grandma pizza a 4 star rating. Feel good pizza establishments should always have good Neapolitan style pizzas at a minimum base to start. read more

I order from here at least 3 to 4 times a week the food is fantastic! However the girl that picks up the phone is less then desirable she's nasty and always has an attitude. This is not the first time I had an issue with her I called the New Hyde Park location a few weeks go to get the managers name in the Manhasset location to complain about her when I got the "manager" it sounded like he was not the manager more like her friend that was covering for her just as nasty! Although the food is always delicious give it a 5 when it comes to customer service they get Zero! The pasta was amazing, linguine was cooked perfectly and blended well with the pink cream sauce, shrimp was cooked perfectly as well and very large pieces. Came on a Friday afternoon, we were the only customers in the restaurant but yet my food still took over 30 mins. Everything came out very slowly, my family soup came out first before my salad which didn't make any sense to me. They do have a nice lunch menu where you can choose 2 different things from paninis, soup, salad or pasta for $11.50. My family got 3 different pasta, I ordered the garlic oil penne with shrimp, the server asked me how many shrimp I wanted I asked her how many it comes with she then says as many as you want so I asked for 5, few minutes later she comes by to tell me it comes with 2.. I did not know there was a Manhasset Umberto's so stopped by for the 1st time. The Buffalo and Margarita slices were delicious. Great crust, fresh mozzarella for the Margarita, and delicious marinara sauce served hot and fresh. The crust is a little thinner than other pizzarias, which is a nice change. All good, baby baby! - biggie smalls This place has consistently proven to exceed my expectations! I came for lunch with a group of friends, we made reservations and got seated immediately. Our waitress was a bit rough but she got everything done efficiently. I had the spaghetti carbonara, which was the right amount of creamy and salty due to the pancetta. It was a hefty portion, I have enough for lunch tomorrow. From salads, soups and pastas Umbertos knows how to get the job done. Added bonus they gave us bottles of umbertos olive oil! Umberto's! A New Hyde Park staple for years and years and.....wait a minute....how'd we end up in Manhasset? Well, I guess restaurants can be multiplied (though they often say those copies are not as good as the original). In this case, I tend to see enough similarity. In need of lunch for what seems like a constant "out-to-lunch" week, I swung by this new-ish Umberto's with a couple of coworkers to grab some grub to go. Walking in you could tell the place still has a clean feel to it. Bright lights, cute seating booths, and a wall with enough pizza paddles that Kevin Bacon might not even ask for "another" (Animal House joke...just watch the movie). Anyway, the medium-sized display case held some basic pizza items, but did also have a couple of intriguing slices, one being vodka sauce with mozzarella cheese. Gotta throw a shoutout to Vincent's Pizza in Albertson for the originator (at least for me) in dining on this style, but either way (or parlor), that piece ended up in my belly. Besides that I grabbed an intriguingly tasty-looking panini (the intrigue was real). My coworkers also got the vodka mozzarella slice and added on a couple of salads. Surprisingly, those took a little longer to roll out from the kitchen than one might expect. Once all items were in hand, we zoomed back to work to chow down, and the feelings were mutual: Scrumptious! Well, I loved my slice for its creamy, cheesy complexion, but in the end, Vincent's still wins out. Now that panini on the other hand....Hello Umberto! Breaded chicken cutlet, mozzarella, broccoli rabe, and spicy cherry peppers created a delicious balance of flavors and something I might have to repeat in the not-so-distant-future. Nice & simple decor. Unfortunately the service was not great. Ordered for 4 people and they forgot 1 of the orders and it took forever to come. By the time the other 3 people were done eating, my chicken parm hero finally came. The pizza was too salty for our liking. The Fettucine alfredo was good but we've had better somewhere else. Checked out the Manhassat spot since we were in neighborhood. Not quite as good as the one in New Hyde Park. Crust was a bit thick & chewy ( not in good way) on the Neopolitan. Sauce and cheese were fine. Sausage & broccoli rabe plentiful on the grandma & super tasty, yet again, the crust was not that great, floppy. The longer it sat, the soggier it got. Service friendly & helpful. Definitely prefer new Hyde park location. read more
