Last night I had one of those rare meals that reminds you why certain foods never go out of style -- and this pizza experience absolutely delivered at a five-star level. From the moment the box opened, the aroma alone told me this wasn't ordinary. There's a very specific scent when high-quality dough meets properly fermented tomato sauce and whole-milk mozzarella under intense heat slightly sweet, slightly smoky, with that faint toasted wheat perfume. That's what hit first. And it set the tone. The crust deserves its own paragraph. This was not dough rushed through a same-day rise. You could see and taste the fermentation a delicate blistering along the outer rim, a leopard-spotted char that signaled high heat and confidence in the oven. The exterior had that thin crackle when you bit in, but underneath? Airy, structured, and elastic. No gumminess. No collapse. The crumb had visible alveoli a hallmark of proper hydration and technique. It held the toppings without sagging, yet folded beautifully in classic New York fashion. That balance is harder to achieve than most people realize. The sauce was restrained which is the mark of someone who knows what they're doing. Bright, clean tomato flavor with natural acidity intact. No over-herbing. No sugary shortcut. You could taste the tomato, not a seasoning cabinet. It complemented rather than competed. The cheese application was textbook. Even distribution, slight caramelization at the edges, and that ideal melt structure -- cohesive stretch without greasiness pooling across the surface. When lifted, each slice gave that elegant pull without tearing the pie apart. That's temperature control and ingredient quality working together. Now, the garlic knots. These were not afterthoughts. Too many places treat garlic knots like a way to use scrap dough. Not here. These were shaped intentionally, proofed properly, and baked to a golden hue that spoke of even heat circulation. The exterior carried a subtle crispness while the inside remained feather-soft. And the garlic. Real garlic. Fresh, aromatic, gently sautéed in olive oil not raw and sharp, not powdered and dull. Tossed generously, but not drowned. Finished with what tasted like freshly chopped parsley and a light snowfall of grated cheese. Each bite was savory, fragrant, and deeply satisfying without being heavy. What truly elevates this place beyond "great food" into five-star territory is the discipline. Nothing felt accidental. The ratios were right. The bake was consistent. The flavors were balanced. That doesn't happen by chance that's ownership that cares. You can tell when a business is run by someone who respects the craft. The owner clearly understands dough science, ingredient sourcing, and most importantly -- restraint. It takes maturity to avoid overloading a pie. It takes pride to make garlic knots that could stand on their own as a signature item. Beyond the food, there's a sense that this establishment values community and quality equally. Clean execution, confidence in their product, and zero gimmicks just skill and passion. Five stars without hesitation. In a world where pizza is everywhere, excellence is rare. This was excellence. read more

Mangia Bene catered the 65th birthday party we threw last night, and our guests were so impressed by the food. Everything looked, smelled and tasted amazing! And the ordering process was a dream. Jack gave his personal attention to every detail, and accommodated every need and request. We could not have asked for a better experience from beginning to end.  We regularly order their pizzas, slices, heroes, and rolls, and they are always delicious. Thanks to Jack, Adam, and crew! read more

I've lived in Great Neck my whole life and I've always thought this place was one of the better pizza spots in town until the recent past. i gave this place 3 chances recently and I have been extremely disappointed each time. the prices have gone up and the quality has gone way down. sad read more

Wow! I usually go for their delicious Buffalo Chicken Slices, but tonight I tried the Piccante Chicken Panini with avocado and extra Spicy Aioli Sauce on the side and it was amazing, highly recommend! Not only that, but the portion size is really big! The picture I'm adding to this review is only Half! I was only able to finish one half and I'm stuffed! Definitely worth the money! Aside from that, their service is always great! Very friendly crew that they have there. They also have 2 areas for dining, one side is more for a quick sit down to enjoy a slice and the other side is more of a nice restaurant environment. read more

Boddega Di Mangia Bene - a bowl of spaghetti - Pizza Near Me - Great Neck, New York

Great assortment of pizzas and excellent wraps. I'd highly recommend the grilled chicken, mozzarella and Pesto one! The owners and counter staff are personable and friendly. Regarding the recent review by Patric S., I've been in the restaurant weekly and there are neither roaches nor mouses (not that mouses is even a word, so right there the credibility of the review is questionable.) The restaurant is clean and well maintained. It's nice to have a casual place to eat or pick up food 7 days a week on the north side of G.N. That is something we certainly can use more of. read more

Amazing food and service! I am very picky with Italian food and this place never disappoints. Definitely recommend!

Worst dining experience in a long time. Bad food, bad service, and overall not the vibe. I would stay away from this place. The guy serving the pizza had dirt under his nails, ew. I couldn't even eat most of the food. Lost my appetite. read more

Pizza has unique flavorful taste I don't know how to describe it. But it's very good. Nice owners and good place

We really enjoyed eating here, Jack and his staff were so friendly and welcoming. We had a great experience and look forward to going back!

We have frequented this family run restaurant for over a decade. Jack and his team are always welcoming and make the experience personal and special every time. I highly recommend the place not only for the meals and reasonable prices, but the wonderful people that work here. read more

Used to come here in high school, oh what a trip down memory lane! It always felt so cool to leave, walk down to Scotto's, and eat some pizza with the other kids. Well, I revisited recently, and lemme just say, it's exactly the same as it was twelve or so years ago, high school kids and all. The pizza isn't bad. I always go for a grandma slice here. It's big and saucy, but a bit on the pricey side here, compared to what I'm used to in the city. The garlic knots are always so fresh. I don't believe pleasures should cause guilt, but this one is a guilty pleasure! My favorite pizza is mushroom, but I don't like it here. It tastes plasticky and gross. No bueno. Stick with the regular or the grandma. read more

Went with my mother last night. Amazing service, seated right away. I'm in love with the food. I'm extremely choosey about food and I was thoroughly impressed. Ordered the pear cider and calamari. Hands down the BEST pizza on LI, maybe NY! They took over the old Scotto's pizzeria 21 years ago and kept their pizza recipe! Please support these terrific owners. Not just because they have been wonderful community members for 21 years, but because their food is sooo delicious! They will make up any kind of pizza, hero, etc. that you might like. Always smiling, helpful and oh oh oh, that sauce!! The soups. The panini. Eat in (inside or on the patio) or take out--either way, the food is delish!! read more

I get lunch here multiple times a week due to proximity to work. It's above average pizza parlor. Large menu.

My food came out so bad. There was hair in it. The atmosphere of this place is horrid and dirty. The service was also bad, as the staff was rude. Overall, terrible experience. read more

My friend recommended this restaurant, the experience is incredible, the food, drinks and knowledge of food is unsurpassable. My favorite is the pesto, it was traditional with string beans and potatoes. My fiancé had the osso buco with saffron rice. Both dishes were unbelievable we will be back read more

I have just arrived at Mangia Bene's new location! I find it to be the bittersweet end of an era, where we must fully realize that Great Neck's beloved Scotto's is really gone (the pizza place that existed before Mangia Bene took its place), and has been for well over a decade. The new location is nicely done and has ample seating. It's a pleasant location situated right near Saint Aloysius Roman Catholic. The same employees work there and the same great tasting pizza can be had. I regularly buy white pizza pies at Mangia Bene for my co-workers and I prefer their spinach and eggplant specialty slices. Beverages are even more limited than before, though! They have one tiny refrigerator with only soda and no seltzer. I was disappointed. In addition, I had to remind the gentleman to please tape my pizza box shut. And he used a small piece of tape that didn't even hold properly. Little problems. Overall, it's a great pizza place, but I prefer Rosa's in Huntington. read more

Boddega Di Mangia Bene - Grand opening ! - Pizza Near Me - Great Neck, New York

Came in for a slice and soda. Pizza was good and coiunterman friendly. But then wanted to eat and the dining room was packed and nobody had bothered to bus the tables. So we put a few trays on a dirty table and ate. During the entire 30 minutes, nobody bothered to come, Dining room is much smaller than old place and it was packed. There is a "help wanted" sign up, so Mangia Bene clearly needs some more wait staff and cleaners, Also, side of restaurant is filled with litter and trash, on the north. Makes a bad impression. The old place often had litter, too. They need to work on this! read more

Have been coming here for years and the staff treats us like family! I always get a pasta dish and these yummy garlic roles they have! The salad and sandwich selection is huge so it's a great spot to get healthy options as well for lunch or dinner. Def try it! read more

Boddega Di Mangia Bene - The pasta here is amazing and everything is so fresh and reasonable prices! - Pizza Near Me - Great Neck, New York

Pizza is good! They have plenty of choices to pick from. What I don't like I think is the owner always kind of giving an attitude. I think customer and merchant should appreciate each other but in this location seems like the owner doesn't need to show appreciation for His customers who are the ones that keep his business going. Not my place to go. read more

I absolutely LOVE this place! The food is beautifully prepared and the waitstaff is very friendly and attentive. I'm obsessed with the garlic twists! If you have not tried them, you are really missing out! They offer so many different options that are suitable to everyone in my family including vegetarian. Every time I go I try something different on the menu and I am never disappointed. The owner is very hands hand on and always there to greet his customers. It's a very warm, friendly atmosphere with a very welcoming staff. Can't wait to go back! read more

Boddega Di Mangia Bene - Beautifully prepared and tasted even better! Love this place ! Ingredients are so fresh! - Pizza Near Me - Great Neck, New York

All through the pandemic I've been ordering personal size pizzas with 2 toppings (mushrooms & broccoli) and froze several slices for another day. They were always great & usually delivered promptly. Only recently the regular crust has become a very thin crust, still delicious but not what I crave. And the price has remained the same. So today I called and was told that what I received is in fact the regular crust. Certainly not the crust I remember receiving for well over a year! And not the crust you get on a slice at the shop. I feel kinda disappointed today. read more

This place is around my work area so whenever I'm craving pizza, I order from them. Overall, their pizza is pretty good, but on the expensive side. I usually get their specialty pizza, and I'll be full after like two slices. My boss ordered a pie from them once with toppings on half of the pie and got it delivered to the work place. When we opened the pie, it was disgusting. It looked like someone dropped the pie, cuz all the toppings were on the side and not even on the pizza anymore. The crust was really burnt also. My boss called the owner complaining and they actually told him to chill. Dunno if I'll ever come back here again. read more

I would give this place zero stars if I could. Stopped in for a slice and drink on 5/5/17. I think the manager was at counter and he's so rude. It took him about 5 minutes to say hello, once the transaction was complete he put my change on a tray (so disrespectful$, I handed him the $ in his hand. Not to mention the pizza is never ever fresh out the oven. Always looks like it was made the day before. From now on I will go Roya Kosha pizza. I hear it's good and they are polite. read more

Dreadful. Just ate there for the first time in quite a while, and it will definitely be the last. Poor service, spoiled food and, when approached about it, a nasty owner. It's a shame, because the neighborhood needs a casual place like this at the north end of town. But this isn't it. read more

Best food ever (woudve Been 5) however, the owner is so annoying and is honestly pretty much an asshole
