    Maintenance request

    I was a resident at Lakeside Terrace (7645 N Sheridan Rd, Unit 206) and had an extremely disappointing experience with Becovic's property management. I first reported a possible ceiling leak on November 10, 2021. Someone came to inspect it, but no repairs were made. I was told the issue needed to be addressed from outside the building before anything cosmetic could be done. That work never happened. I followed up again in May 2022, after the damage visibly worsened. My ceiling had begun to crack and change color. After waiting days for a scheduled visit, no one showed. When someone finally came (after rescheduling for their convenience), they repeated the same explanation from seven months earlier: it had to be repaired from outside. In the meantime, nothing was done inside, and my ceiling continued deteriorating. Multiple promises were made--including tuckpointing scheduled for June 3rd, then delayed to June 4th--but again, nothing happened. I always paid my rent on time, was a respectful tenant, and exercised a great deal of patience, but was made to feel like I had to beg for basic repairs. This was not just inconvenient--it affected my health and quality of life. My personal belongings were damaged, and the stress of trying to get someone to take action was overwhelming. Despite all of this, I still received a renewal offer with a rent increase. I've since moved out, but I'm sharing my experience so that others can make an informed decision before renting from Becovic Management. Based on how my concerns were handled (or ignored), I would not recommend this company. If you value timely maintenance and a property management team that takes tenant concerns seriously, I strongly suggest looking elsewhere.

    This is the most expensive hole in the wall apartment you'll ever pay for. It is beyond frustrating to come into a building that smells like variations of feces and cigarette smoke everyday. It is disgusting to be laying in bed and having roaches greet you face to face. It is ridiculous that the hot water streams out the faucets like a sprinkler or not at all. It is wild that it takes up to 10 minutes for the water to refill after you flush the toilet or not at all. The sockets in the entire apartment are improperly installed. I have never had my sockets sink into the wall whenever I try to plug something in. Sometimes the plug will pop out of the socket when trying to put another plug in the second socket. Your outlets will also spark on the verge of an electrical fire. The entire unit's electrical wiring is crap and turning on lights in one room will trigger electronics in another. I've NEVER experienced this in my entire life. Your windows will leak when it rains leaving the window frames and walls molded and soft. These apartments are being held together by Laffy Taffys; the apartment building upkeep is a joke. The elevator looks and feels older than the building itself and functions however it chooses to. Every floor the elevator jumps and shakes giving you the feeling that it's going to drop. It holds a "temp certificate" as it did not pass full inspection. This temp certificate is expired and has been. My partner has gotten stuck on the elevator 3xs. It is pathetically sad that we have to travel to a laundromat to wash our things because of how filthy and disgusting the laundry room. As I recall the first and last time we did laundry it took us 30 plus sweaty minutes to clean 2 washers and 2 dryers. The washer and dryers have caked up lint, human and animal hair, dirt and other miscellaneous debris. And the cherry on top are the dead roaches you'll find at the bottom of the washing machine. There is no maintenance to the building overall. The assigned maintenance man Edin is physically incapable of doing any actual laborious repairs. He is lazy, incompetent, an instigator and aggressive. We've had to call the cops on him. It's documented. He will try to force himself in your apartment on more than one occasion and Becovic management won't do anything about it. He will also lie and collide w/ management w/ false reporting of marijuana smoke on the day you're moving out while harassing you, so the cops have to be called again. To only receive an email from management almost 3wks post move out that our lease is being terminated due to smoke violation. What a laughing stock of a company. The hallway floors are dirty/sticky, the carpet is dingy and smelly. The whole building is infested with roaches and their contracted exterminators Cycor are useless, heavily uses harsh chemicals, and are rude. It's unethical and deceitful for Becovic to present itself as a top tier property management company that takes care of its tenants, when that is completely far from the truth. Becovic doesn't care about its tenants just as much as the next company. They will ignore any RTLO rights that you declare. And in retaliation, they will try to evict you then actually solve the issues in the apartment like they're legally supposed to. They blatantly LIE on their unit listings to trap tenants. Just look at the way their IGNORANT and DISRESPECTFUL staff respond to their tenants who have VALID complaints about their experience living in a Becovic property. That should be a warning enough for you to stay away from this place! You see a 5 star review be suspicious that it's incentivized. Check their BBB and Reddit threads...it's ALL THERE! Becovic SHOULD NOT be allowed to acquire ANYMORE properties PERIOD until they can actually function professionally and ethically to update and take care of the properties they currently have. Summer 2022 they spent over $30 million for a slew of new properties but don't have the thousands to update current units that are falling apart?! That makes NO sense. Sal Becovic I'm sure is LIVING astronomically better than all of his tenants across the state combined. He NEVER has to deal with faulty and bad electrical wiring. He doesn't have to deal with faulty water pressure. He doesn't have to deal with NO hot water or water at all. He DOESN'T have to deal with roaches. He's NOT overpaying for a laundry room that doesn't even wash/dry properly and is roach infested. He doesn't have to worry about his windows heavily leaking water when it rains. And he doesn't have to deal with a shady management company playing games with his and his family's livelihood. SO WHY TF SHOULD HIS TENANTS?! Also PLEASE NOTE to NOT use The Guarantors for ANY co-signing support. They will allow landlords and property management to abuse their power and not support the tenant even when several are comparing about one company across the board.

It was working when we toured, but we have not seen it operational at any point since becoming residents. * Hot tub cleanliness: On February 28, 2026, when we turned on the hot tub jets, a grimy black film resembling dirt began accumulating in the water. I took photos that night (see attached). This raised serious concerns about maintenance and cleanliness. * Swimming lessons representation and lack of response: During our tour in November 2025, a leasing staff member told us that free swimming lessons were offered to renters, and we confirmed this multiple times because it mattered to us. After moving in, an onsite swimming instructor told us that, to his understanding, there are no free lessons. When we mentioned we had been told the lessons were free and asked whether he had heard similar questions from other residents, he told us yes. We emailed management on February 19, 2026 asking how to enroll or to clarify whether free lessons are offered, and as of March 1, 2026, we have not received any response. In other replies to reviews that complained about amenities, the rental office has said the hotel manages the amenities. But these amenities are still advertised as part of the residential experience, and from a resident perspective the distinction doesn't change the outcome--we relied on what was represented when deciding where to live. If these issues are resolved or clarified, I will update this review. For now, prospective residents should independently verify the current status and availability of any amenities that are important to them.

And it's in the best possible location. My overall experience touring here was a 10/10 thank you Kacy for explaining everything to me and being transparent about fees etc you were amazing so many good laughs and it was genuinely fun touring with you. I definitely recommend moving in here I'm praying that I'll be able to move-in because it's such a great community and location so fingers crossed I get this job and can move into that 1 bedroom you showed me!

My fiance and I have had issues since day 1. To name a few: -The Resident lounge is actually an employee lounge throughout the day as that is the only space the employees have to go to. -The grills have been broken since day 1. You have to bring down your own lighter, pick up the metal grates with your hands, and then light it to actually get it to work. -Once snow started in Chicago, the management team would not have the snow removed from common spaces making the grills, etc. inaccessible. -The key FOBs don't actually give you access to anything. I don't even know why they give them to all the residents when they don't work to get you into any of the common spaces. -They will randomly do renovations on a floor without providing any of the surrounding apartments a notice. This is very frustrating especially during a GLOBAL PANDEMIC when everyone is working from home. When you speak to the management team about these issues, they make you feel like you are the only one with problems and that everything is great about the building. That is not true as I have spoken to several residents who are frustrated with all the same issues. This experience has made me think twice about paying to live in a managed high rise building.

I…read morehave lived in multiple high-rises over the last 7 years and this building doesn't even come close to the amazing places I've lived in yet paying by FAR the most here for half of the great things about the other buildings. This is the only building on the planet with no freight/move-in elevators so they take the other elevator completely out of commission giving ONE elevator to 18 busy floors of 20ish units. I've waited 10+ minutes just to get in the elevator and have been late for work on multiple occasions because they give the elevator to people moving in during PEAK hours. To add insult to injury, the cold/unkind and totally apathetic leasing office takes the elevator ONE FLOOR UP AND DOWN instead of using the stairs. All the residents constantly look at each other in disbelief every time it happens. They never say hi to anyone and inconvenience residents on a daily basis. Resident Events are nonexistent and when they do, they're either BYOB (seriously?) cold cheap pizza or 1 seltzer. Gee, thanks! I really feel the appreciation and value of my $2908/mo for one small bedroom. Last but not least, between the drunk people fighting leaving LIQR Box next door and the addiction clinics lining the street - this is a pocket of River North that is totally unsafe. There are ALWAYS issues out front and was even accosted by someone mentally aill walking to my car out front one day. I called Neha in the leasing office (also the biggest culprit of riding the elevator one floor up and down) to help me get the garage open to run in. It was laughable how little she cared, zero sense of urgency and didn't even ask if I was okay or follow up with me. Why hire people who clearly don't give a flying f about residents or their jobs? What's the point? Skip the overpriced bedrooms, unfriendly leasing office, lack of any resident appreciation and concern for you as a human being and go literally anywhere else. There are a ton of beautiful and amazing buildings I wish I lived in instead of Niche. Their only saving grace is the amazing front desk staff (Sherrice and Durandt) and maintenance team which has kept me here. I wish I never lived here, the office team here is TERRIBLE and the only apartment I've ever regretted signing a lease with. RUN! This building and its halls are kept spotless! Whenever I call maintenance they are always prompt and they get the job done. I am extremely picky about where I choose to live and the Streeter does not disappoint. I especially enjoy dealing with Noah who is always helpful, patient and friendly! The amenities are plentiful. The jacuzzi's are maintained and kept clean. Other buildings have failed in their attempt to keep their jacuzzi clean. Sauna and steam rooms are immaculate! They have a swimming pool adjacent to the jacuzzi. They have an awesome gym too! Close proximity to everything! Unbeatable!!! The Amazon package room is run well and they haven't lost a package yet. This is impressive and difficult to achieve. Elevators run smoothly and I never have to wait. The building really demonstrates how they care about their tenants and they take pride in their jobs and it shows. I have given them a five star rating because they earned it and they deserve to be praised for their work ethic and dedication to their tenants and the community. I highly recommend the Streeter. I cannot say enough good things about them! The Streeter is welcoming and I encourage everyone who wants a good quality of life and a clean environment to move to the Streeter.     Warning: South-facing units are a sauna and management isn't transparent…read more We were specifically told we'd have independent temperature control -- our #1 priority when signing -- but management quietly shut off the building A/C for the season without notifying tenants. Even with outside temps in the 30s & 40s and windows open, our south-facing apartment reached 82°F during the day and stayed at 76°F overnight. When we requested an early lease termination due to a medical condition that makes me sensitive to heat, management refused, falsely stating that allowing it would be discrimination against other tenants. They also refused any cost assistance to transfer units, despite the high cost and effort of having to move again. Even with a portable A/C and windows open, the temperature never drops below 74°F and still climbs to 80°F daily. It's made working from home impossible and sleeping uncomfortable. If temperature control or transparency matters to you, think twice before signing here -- particularly for south-facing units.
