Just an update to my review.... last 4 Yelp reviews have been one star reviews. The business response to each one of these one star reviews is for US THE CUSTOMERS to reach out to manager Markus Lopez.... I would recommend Markus Lopez reach out to his Santa Rosa Store Team members to work on team member expectations regarding their customer service since that is the problem that needs to be addressed. Just Wow.... In the wrong way. I was looking for some brown dress shoes from a local retailer. Before going to Beck's Shoes, I reviewed their website and saw that they did carry a small selection of dress shoes, one option being an Ecco shoe which has worked well for me in the past. I walked in today at around 10:15 this morning and the one male team member on the floor was working with a female customer saying statements like "I don't think we have any shoes in our store that will meet your needs". As their conversation continued I walked around the store and saw their small men's dress shoes section had some other brown shoe options that may also work for me. I walked closer to the team member and heard him tell the female customer, "well maybe this one will work, let me go get you one from the back". As the team member walked past me he asked "what do you need bud", and I showed him the shoebox picture of my current Ecco black shoes and asked him if he had it in brown. The team member responded "We just have those in black and walked away". No, "I don't have that brand in brown but I have some other options" nor "we don't have those in the store but have additional options on our website" nor "let me finish up with my current customer and I can assist you." I just got a "no" and a walk away. Well I attempted to support a family business, it is unfortunate the team member I encountered wasn't willing to assist me in supporting a family business. read more

I had an EXTRAORDINARY experience. I am in my seventies and I had various pains in my feet, so I really could not walk without pain. I had tried several ideas after talking to my doctor. Nothing worked. I walked in and Gerry Zapata knew immediately looking at my feet what the problem was. I stood on a computer which told him what inserts I needed and he and the computer showed me how this would help. Problem solved in 20 minutes. I am extremely grateful -- I can now walk and could probably run if I wanted to. My feet are pain free and I can move the inserts from one pair of shoes to another. Thank you Gerry and Beck's! I felt like I'd entered a used car lot back in the 1980's. The salespeople rotate customers and the saleswoman with whom I dealt tried to upsell socks and insoles. The scanning device seemed bogus, lots of pretty psychedelic colors, based upon the pressure your feet leave on the mat. I ended up leaving when it became apparent the salesperson was more interested in talking over me than listening to what I needed. The store is large and appears to have a wide selection; I'd bet there were shoes which were appropriate for my feet, but the salesperson didn't seem invested in helping me identify them. read more

Updated: As much as I appreciate the cut and paste response, the problem isn't with me, or any of your other customers for that matter. Just read the reviews. They're all recent. Your store manager isn't up to the task. Maybe deal with that. The manager spent his time marching around the showroom bragging about how many stores they had. I'd start explaining what I needed and what problems I've had with my current boots and literally halfway through my sentence he'd walk away loudly proclaiming "we have something for everyone, we have 30 stores you know... when you find something you like lemme know". Could not get the man to focus for more than a few seconds. He was loud, brash, and possibly ADHD. Walked across the street to Red Wing where I experienced superb service and found a great pair of boots. Not sure if the other stores are like this, but the Santa Rosa store is a waste of time. read more

Wow, this store and its new owners and managers have really made it a beautiful, shopper-friendly, spacious place to buy a huge array of styles. Hector was amazing to work with. It is such a pleasurable experience when working with an expert and precisionist in his field of excellence. He knew everything my husband needed and the recommendations were spot on. Also, the store has a up to date tech foot scanner, to see how the weight and lean are distributed, and your arch needs, making the choices easy to determine. My husband came in with a cane and walked out in his new shoes! We loved the two hours we were there playing together and buying shoes which for some is not always fun! You will feel great shopping there. Ask for Hector if he is there, as a manager, he travels between many of their stores. read more

Yesterday I went to Becks Shoes in Santa Rosa, Ca. I was on a mission to find some shoes for summer. I have difficult feet to buy shoes for as they are very wide. I have NEVER been able to walk right in to a women's shoe. I have been buying men's tennis shoes, Andrea W. Was helping me. She brought out several shoes for me to try. She was great! I tried several and they worked for me. I ended up buying 3 pair (2 were on sale- another added bonus). I couldn't believe that I had 3 pairs of shoes to take on our trip. Andrea was a sweetheart! She was sooo helpful, and was excited for me to have some new cute shoes. I am so happy to know that I now have a shoe store to go to where I know I can find a width to fit my feet. I have been suffering for 5 months with planters fasciitis/sciatica to the point of inability to walk. I went to Beck's Shoes today while visiting family in Santa Rosa. OMG ! I had the best experience & education regarding the type of shoes for my ailment. Patrick Marks took feet measurements & made recommendations for proper shoe. When there to find a slip on work boot. Craig was helpful , knowledgeable about foot wear stocked and fitting feet to a shoe/boot. He even showed me how to tie my laces so they don't come undone. I just received the greatest customer service from any shoe shopping experience ever from Chris & Jerry. These two rocked. Professional, knowledgeable, personable, just great people. I've usually go to Red Wing boots but these two just showed me what a real experience when shopping for footwear is supposed to be. I'll never go back to the dark side. My new favorite Sonoma County shoe store! I've actually been here with a friend with foot issues/problems, the brand he buys Beck's carries so we went there, my friend was happy with the service. I noticed they were attentive and very friendly. Last week I thought I'd try them, after looking for both new boots (dress, not work boots) as well as short heels for a wedding I'm attending. Honestly I went first to a "similar" type shoe store here in Petaluma and found NOTHING. Remembering Becks, I decided to drive up to Santa Rosa and SO SO GLAD that I did! The salesman was attentive and friendly, I tried on quite a few boots and he was patient and nice about it. I decided on not one but 2 pairs of boots and when I saw some cute stylish shoes with 2" heels, I figured why not try them on? He got me 2 different sizes, they were super comfy and I loved them! They did not have my color though, he called another store and had them sent over, I got a call a few days later & Picked them up. I've been wearing them a couple days now to break them in, I'm extremely happy with them. I will definitely be back, I'm so happy with the selection and service. They also carry nice purses and fun socks too. I don't have foot issues but they carry inserts and orthotics and such, too---give them a try, you will be Happy you did! HIGHLY recommended! read more

Went to Becks to buy a pair of Keen shoes. There were 2 guys working there, and I was the only customer in the store. I spent about 15 minutes looking at shoes. Not once did anyone in the store ask me if I needed help or wanted to buy shoes. All of the shoes I looked at were $140. And up. After feeling totally ignored, I left. Went home and found the $140 shoes I saw at Becks on Amazon for $80. Which leads me to my point. I go to brick and morter stores for personal service and expertise. When these things are not offered and you feel ignored. Why bother. I went home and bought the shoes on Amazon. read more

I customer service from Jerry was excellent I need to come in and pick up a pair of boots for work I got excellent service I recommend this place. Shoe selection for both men and women sections is severely lacking, few options for work/hiking boots for women and very few fashion/everyday shoes for men. Shoe sizing is not inclusive, as in they have a very restrictive size range, an associate told me they only carry a size 8 in men's and above. So god forbid your foot is smaller than that. Anyways, it seems that this store has more socks than they do shoes, money is better spent elsewhere. read more

I just left the shop and I'm delighted. I've never been to this store before but I'll definitely recommend it to anyone needing some quality products and advice. The Assistant Team Leader who helped me, Bryce, was genuinely one of the best I've ever encountered. I saw a set of shoes that a previous customer tried on and didn't like for some reason and they caught my eye based on the color initially. Bryce asked what I'm looking for and I pointed towards the ones that the previous customer didn't like. They also coincidentally were exactly my size, so I just tried them on immediately, and they fit perfectly. I then asked about the insole and explained my need for a bit of arch support, so he had me try a pressure sensor device that displayed the areas of my foot that most of my weight rests upon. He found another insole that adjusts the angle at which my foot rests within the shoe to prevent the weight from focusing in the areas that are actually quite sore prior to this purchase because my precious shoes did not have any support there. Overall I want to rate my experience here as a 10/10. Bryce had in depth knowledge, an analytical approach to my problem, and was very friendly. I'm very happy that I decided to stop by. read more

I visited the Santa Rosa store recently....my first time there. My feet (both) are bruisied and cut from a recent battle with a glass table (I lost). My podiatrist had sent me there to find a special sandal with very specific positioning of straps....otherwise I would have to be barefoot for weeks (and I have to manage two horses in that perilous state. So I met Bryce Barrow. And he brought out Cinderella sandals and I started to cry and he said "Having a rough day?" And I cried more and he calmed me down much like I do my fussy white mare when the wind blows. I left with my magic shoes and a pair for my fussy husband (wind blowing or not). And here is my review. I have been on their website and yes, there should be a Netflix series celebrating these businesses....(retail!!!) that survive and pass to children and children of children. If you are reading this, take 15 minutes and read their story. There's world peace in there if you look closely. I am only troubled that Bryce is not an owner....that there is no ESOP in place. This is just not consistent with the family credo or so it would seem. Anyway, off I go to manage a horse and continue to heal. read more

I bought insoles from this location, and the pain under my feet worsened quickly. I exchanged them for a new pair of insoles; the same thing happened again. So I got the store credit card to use. I asked them to try a pair of sneakers which they had to get from SJ locations. I received a phone call from the store saying they had the sneakers. I went there and the guy couldn't find them. The guys at this location are rude and not helpful. Yesterday they blocked me at the door, asking for proof of vaccination. I work in a restaurant, and we certainly don't act like cops at the door. Their insoles are overpriced. I find a pair for a third of the price online that is great. I went there because I have been to the SJ location before and received excellent customer service, and the staff was friendly. read more

Had to take my Person to get work shoes. He just had surgery and was really sore. Yet the staff was AMAZING. They were busy yet made us feel as if we were the only ones there. The sign on the building still reads "Santa Rosa Shoes" but already I knew it was now owned by Beck's. I had had so many good experiences with the previous owners that I was a bit fearful that those days were gone forever. I met Craig Brisgel the moment I walked in and immediately felt at ease. I needed to replace some shoestrings that were too short. I had bought them from the previous owner so I suspected a trade might not be possible. Not a problem! We found longer ones in the same brand and started to make the exchange when I said I also needed new shoes. My Dunham shoes had worn long and well, but I knew Dunham was a brand they no longer carried. Craig knew without checking that they still had a few boxes of Dunham's and went to get them. Four boxes of shoes and one--only one--had shoes that almost exactly replaced my old shoes. They fit so comfortably that I wore them home and they're on my feet now--the day "after"! This was an amazing experience. Customer service continues at the high level it has always been! And we did finally exchange the shoestrings! read more

If you're a woman looking for some good hiking/work boot options, you'd be better off literally anywhere else. 90% of Beck's women's section is targeted towards fashion boots and running shoes. There is one, ONE, shelving unit with steel toed boots; ONE medium size shelving unit (with like two shelves) for hiking shoes. Compare that to the men's work/hike boot section, which has easily twice to three times the amount of options. And, to make matters worse, most of the available options for women's hiking boots were at the very least $10 MORE EXPENSIVE than male hiking boots. On a personal note, I was looking for hiking boots to use for field work as part of my job. I couldn't find a pair in the women's section that were ideal, but I did find a pair in the mens section. An associate, Fred, asked if my father and I needed anything. I asked if there was a smaller size in the mens shoe I was interested in. Automatic no, and shepherded right back to the frankly abysmal women's section. Fred kept trying to push the women's shoes despite the quality being much worse (less hardy and sturdy) and the shoes more expensive. He kept saying that I didn't want the men's shoes, that I really wanted the women's shoes even after I had made clear why I needed men's shoes because the quality and types of women's shoes were not ideal for my job. I had to ask several times for Fred to at the very least look in the back. For some reason, they only carry men's sizes starting at size 8, seems a bit restrictive. Then again, considering their very obvious product limitations for women in blue collared fields, restricting their client base seems pretty on par for them. I was provided a $150 certificate to Becks via my workplace, due to the requirements just to use the certificate paired with my jobs requirements for proper footwear, I was left with one option out of the maybe 10 pairs of hiking boots offered at the store. That very option was more expensive than its counterpart in the mens section, and I had to pay $28 out of pocket for shoes I didn't even want but had no choice to buy. How and why is this acceptable? Especially in this day and age. I was able to find the exact same pair of shoes on Amazon for $30 cheaper. The situation at Beck's is exactly why people turn to large online stores, because at least we have options. Beck's, do better. Women, don't shop at Beck's, it's not worth the blatant product discrimination and pushback from employees who don't give af about their customers. read more

I wanted shoes that had a low heel or 2" high wedge that I could wear with a dressy dress . I didn't want it to have an ankle strap because my ankles swell. I found the perfect sandal that had V straps around the sides of my feet with two extra matching Velcro strap extenders that allow the straps to to reach around my feet if they are a bit swollen. The color was a shiny iridescent greenish peacock gold color on a snakeskin like texture. They are comfortable and go with almost anything! Even slacks and skirts. Love it! read more

PERSONAL ATTENTION: I've never spent so much time selecting the right shoes as I did at Beck's Shoes this week. Was it because I have more time due to the current pandemic that reduced my work to one day a week? or that because of COVID there were few people in the store so I didn't feel rushed? or that I went with a friend who also wanted to consider which shoes were best for her? or that the salesman exemplified the best in knowledge and courtesy? All of the above. I also appreciated that when we were finally ready to check out Craig, the assistant manager who waited on us and his manager figured out how to maximize the discounts available to us. The store has a good selection of shoes including hiking, running and walking models (that's what we were looking for) as well as sandals, work boots and dress shoes.
