Bc my wife retired from working at the Med Center & basically can only wear good supportive shoes due to her plantar fasciitis, neuromas, flat feet, high arches & osteoarthritis in her knee. Yup! Ever since the Walking Store closed their doors she needed to find a local shoe store where she can try on shoes IN PERSON!!! They have been closed for over 4 years though they are online only. Online sucks for her. She needs to try on shoes in person. She prefers to buy shoes close by to home. Unfortunately Nordstrom's closed their doors at Arden. We could probably go to the Rack. Nawww not the same service. Dan basically gave my wife personal service! She got spoiled here! Dan even brought out shoes from the back not shown out on display in the shoe store. There were a few styles she never heard before and needed to try them on in the store. They even sell Hokas & Aetrex here! She was so HAPPY & totally in SHOE HEAVEN! Woohoo! Thank you Dan for taking care of my wife bc we will absolutely be back! My wife is so happy. She bought 5 pairs of shoes & a pair of Aetrex orthotics! Thanks DAN A!!! My daily walk is on hard surfaces and I started to have pain problems with my right foot, heel area. Prior to visiting Becks, my doctor confirmed it was an arch problem. My research and Yelp reviews led me to Becks. Heather took me thru the entire process and based on scan information and accurate measuring of both feet, she recommended several different types of shoes. I ultimately purchased a pair and have had no further heel pain. Heather was patient, knowledgeable, and answered all my questions. The store was stocked with a nice variety and I do plan to return to purchase more (the shoes were a good price). What I really was thankful for was that there was no pressure to purchase or join anything. I wasn't made to feel like I had to be a hard core runner to buy good shoes. No black men's dress shoes..., none. You'll need to go elsewhere for your Ferragamo's or To Boot New York needs. Topping out at a Florsheim Postino Cap in Cognac, I purchased a terrific Florsheim half-boot, the selection is a little thin but very high quality. The sales person would make an outstanding Realtor as she is "always closing" and you can expect to be hustled gently in a "we both know the drill" way with the pseudo science of the, fun!, pressure sensor display to entice you to buy inserts; which you should get anyway. Came here on Father's day to pick up some steel toed boots for my significant other. We had already tried a few stores before we arrived and Beck's definitely has more variety and better value. We were able to find great quality steel toe boots at a great price. The service was also very good and welcoming. Last weekend I took my mom shop for orthopedic shoes. Normally she has such a hard time finding comfortable shoes. The sales lady Brittney was so kind and helpful. She even helped my mom in and out of the chair when she got up. She made lots of suggestions we actually found 5 pairs she liked and ordered one from a different location. I think this store has the best quality and selection for what we were looking for. The sales girl had so much patience with my elderly mother. My dad has been struggling with back and hip issues for about a year now and has frequently visited his chiropractor and general health practitioner about this. We stopped in the shopping mall area for brunch after church and headed into Beck's to take a look around. With the help of Patrick, the assistant manager, we chose three different pairs of orthopedic sandals and slides for my dad. These are amazing! Very light weight with great arch support which is helping keep pressure off of his joints and keep him alined. He actually wore a pair out of the store and have had them on the rest of the day and is feeling considerably less pain. I've been buying from Beck's for over 30 years in the Bay Area, where the majority of their stores are, and was ecstatic to find one when I moved here. The store in Sacramento seems to have the original sign from the 60s so they must be doing something right to still be open ! This store is located on the corner of Stockton and Fruitridge, set back and on the end/corner of a block of stores, so there's plenty of parking, and it feels, and is, safe and accessible. They carry Uggs, Reeboks, Taos, Rockport and Skechers so definitely NOT just work shoes. If you have foot problems, but want to look stylish and feel as if you're walking on a cloud all day, GO here ! My feet don't hurt anymore after some Cobb Hill and Spring Step brands were recommended to me. Plantar fasciitis ? Fallen arches ? Wide feet ? You WILL be taken care of ! They even carry Super Feet Insoles and Orthaheels ! Did I mention Tara ? She is beyond terrific ! She is intuitive, she is friendly and courteous, she is quick but thorough, she knows shoes !! My mom needed work shoes for her company and was told from her boss to come here. She went with her sister the first time and was greeted with bad service. The bald man working there completely ignored her. She left without getting any help. She still needed the shoes so I went with her the next trip. It was the same man. He stared at us while we shopped without a smile. When we asked for a specific size, he came back with the box and tried to take the other shoes my mom was trying out of her hands, like if we were trying to steal it. I had to tell him she was still trying them out. He later asked how the shoes were and we said it was good. He threw the shoe back in the box and said "Are you going to pay for them?" only seconds from us trying them on. He has terrible customer service. read more

I went into becks because I have plantar fasciitis or should I say had plantar fasciitis. I was recommended by my sister who went in and got Hoka shoes and orthotics and amazing service from a young woman named Dezaray. My sister is very hard to please so when she bragged on how wonderful this young lady was I knew it had to be something so I decided to go check it out for myself. Never in the last 53 years of my life have I ever gotten such customer service. From the moment I walked in I was greeted with the biggest smile and I have never felt so welcomed into a retail store. The amount of things that I learned about my feet that day absolutely blew my mind! That young lady taught me what my phalanges, metatarsal bones, and calcaneus (heel bone) are !! Never have I met a retail associate so knowledgeable and passionate about their job! I got fitted and two orthotics that fit my arch specifically she even gave me this cool foot scan to find out what my arch type was. She even got me really cool socks that help out with my bunion. If you have feet problems or just need comfortable walking shoes I'm telling you go see this young lady she is going to fit you the proper way! You have gained two customers for life my sister and I will never shop anywhere else for our shoes and orthotics! I want to thank Dezaray for restoring my faith in human kindness. For 33 years I've been wearing steel toe safety boots at work. Beck's has always had a bigger selection of women's safety toe shoes than the other stores in Sacramento. Their helpful staff has been knowledgeable and patient during many try-ons. read more

I have been a customer since 2008, since my wife talked me into going in. They have a very amazing selection of shoes both brands and styles. My biggest reasons for returning at 1. I like the most amazing brand of socks for men. The brand is Wigwam. They are American made, well fitting and long lasting. When I got my first ones they had a one year warranty, now it is two years. They never seem to wear out. I still wear the original ones, but had to add to them because of some older ones of other bands were not being warn because they did not fit right. 2. I like the staff. This is the only place I go to buy shoes. I have problem feet and use orthotics. For the past 9 years I bought men's shoes due to the extra depth/width I required. I was recently fitted with new orthotics with less correction. I found 6 pair of shoes in the women's section. Decided to stop in to see what type of shoes they carry as we drove by. As we walked in, we were greeted instantly by Marissa. (Hope I am spelling her name right.). She measured our feet '& also preformed a pressure test of our feet before grabbing our shoes we requested. We bought two lovely pairs of grey New Balances along with two sets of sole inserts. Marissa was very knowledgable on her products making us feel comfortable purchasing them. She also helped me discover that I am a size bigger in shoes now. I have my new favorite pair of shoes I'm going to wear as much as I can ! They may be a little more pricey (for the penny pinchers) but a few more dollars is definitely worth the one on one interaction '& comfortable surrounding you never get from a crowded typical retail store, where you're pressed to buy shoes you don't want feeling rushed. I am writing this review as I'm purchasing my slick Wolverine boots - the kind that add an increase of testosterone as you slip them on. Specifically, I have to rave about Kristina, the young and friendly blonde who made my experience worth Yelping about. She was basically alone and had to deal with helping me and a few other customers. Now, I am one of those annoying shoe shoppers who likes to try on five pairs at once, and she was patient with me as she tried to balance her time between customers. That's customer service, folks! Let me also note that my knowledge of the force allows me to observe the disposition of someone with calm and focused attention. This takes years of hard discipline, people. And what I picked up from Kristina, as she tied each each of my shoes and explained the features of each, was nothing short of a genuine kindness and professionalism. The respect I felt for her efforts made me control myself from staring down her shirt - which, if you know men of the prime and virile age of twenty-six, can be a challenge (and that's without the libido-enhancing boots on!). With out too much detail I took my shoes and walked out. James being kind brought me water since 108 out. I finished transaction outside. I had a receipt and all. Patrick treated me like i was up to no good,pointing finger at me saying you have returned shoes before as if its a very terrible thing to do. My job pays for these shoes and i like to pick a better shoe and pay a little more get better shoe. I ended up not even shopping for better shoe due to this guy. Long time customer ( + 30 years )I have used the shoe store for years to find shoes because of my disability. I purchased some sandals yesterday. I told the salesman at the time that I felt that they were too big and he argued with me stating at the end of the argument " we have a 30 day return policy. " That should have been my cue to leave and I should have left the business at the time . I attempted to wear the shoes last night and walk down my driveway to go to the car I almost fell twice because the sandals and the fact that they were too big . I attempted to return them this morning and was told that because they were worn I could not return them . Let me assure you that the rubber soles only had some driveway dust on them no scuffs ....no marks and could have been wiped off with a towel and resold. In any in every other way the sandal was perfect. I will never shop at this store again and would suggest that anyone who wants to be treated fairly should not also . read more

My husband had a stroke 6 years ago and has to wear a brace on his left leg/foot. It was complicated to find a shoe that would fit over the brace, be comfortable, easy to walk and do physical therapy in, and look appropriate for different situations. It was a tall order and after getting no results from other places, we came to Beck's 5 years ago. We won't go anywhere else...just got our new pair last week! WOW wish we had known about this place years ago; not just for the specialized and personal service we got, but for the quality and range of choices.
