Beaverton Periodontics took the time, honest, friendly, etc. I did my due diligence and called many others- of the one who took the time and actually gave me a "quote", Beaverton Periodontics was easily in the top 2. Highly recommend. Just got back from Dr. Tran for a follow-up to an evaluation.I have peri-implantitis on an implant that was placed improperly by a regular dentist.It has come loose and tighted 4 times,bacteria got in and now bone loss. Dr. Tran was generous with his time, explained everything thoroughly and I left with a much better understanding of this challenging issue. I'll start off first by saying that a periodontist has long since been a nightmare visit for me. For almost 20 years I've had dentists scaring me telling me I need a full mouth gum graft and that I'll be in pain for 6-8 weeks unable to eat, blah blah blah. And I was definitely on edge about this. I had to book several months out to get an appointment, but Dr. Tran was referred to me by Dr. Park at Progress Ridge Orthodontics. She spoke very highly of him and I really like her so that mattered a lot to me. I filled out and emailed all the paperwork back to them on 11/11 and got a response from Michelle, in the office. When I checked in, it also happened to be with her. She asked if I had brought the paperwork, to which I said, no I emailed it and someone even replied to me. I looked and said, "Michelle replied to me" and she said "well that's me but I don't have any paperwork." I literally forwarded the original email and in a few minutes she said "oh there it is." I definitely didn't get a good impression from the front office staff when somehow my email was misplaced or she didn't save the paperwork and I called her out on it and she flat out said she never got my paperwork. Anyway. That kind of thing bugs me having worked as an executive assistant for many years and always being in client facing customer service roles. If you mess up, own it. So I was a bit aggravated going back for my appointment. The girl who took me back was super super nice. She couldn't have been any nicer but I was 1-on edge as I have extreme fear of this procedure and 2-the office staff irked me with "losing" my paperwork. I was not as friendly as I should have been to her, since she was just trying to do her job, and she was just kind as she could have been. She wanted to take X-rays and I didn't want my insurance being billed again for them since my dentist had done them AND the orthodontist that referred me. So once we settled on no X-rays Dr. Tran came in and did the exam. I was immediately put at a level of ease (don't worry I was still panicked because he hadn't told me if I needed gum grafting or not, so instead of being level 10 I was around a 7.5.) Dr. Tran is like the older version of my dentist. Very laid back and easy going. He was thorough in his exam and gentle and adjusted when the assistant was pushing into my gums at one point, as he noticed I was uncomfortable. He reviewed my teeth with me and talked to me openly about everything. Thank GOD I am not needing to do graft surgery right now!!! But he said I will need it in the future. In the meantime I'm free to get braces! So thank you Dr. Tran. I'll see you next year for a checkup! read more

I cannot say enough amazing things about Dr. Tran or his staff. First off....every single person I've interacted with in this office has been professional, happy, outgoing and simply amazing to deal with. I've dealt with Jessica the most and I cannot say enough good things about her. She is exactly the type of person to have as the face of your office when a patient comes in. Patients never feel as though they are disturbing her or an inconvenience. She always has a smile on her face and it simply puts patients at ease when they come in. When I initially found out I needed to have some work done I wasn't thrilled (as most people aren't). I hate going to the dentist...any type of dentist. When I first looked into coming to Beaverton Periodontics I found out they were not on my "preferred" list for my dental insurance. I went to a preferred provider and man...it was a train wreck there. From the moment I walked into that place (and having a fear of being in a dental chair) everything felt like an "upsell" on services. I had zero feeling of value as a patient - or that patient care was their #1 priority. I then went ahead and booked an appointment at Beaverton Periodontics. What a night and day difference. From the moment I walked in and as I went through a procedure in April 2017, several follow up appointments, another part of the procedure in September and several more follow up appointments I can say everything was 100% about me. It was about my healing process. It was about my care. It was about my mental state. While they weren't a preferred provider with my dental insurance...I found out it was only about $500 more to use them over the corporate feeling used car Periodontist I had a consultation at first. It was worth EVERY extra dollar I spent. Dr. Tran goes above and beyond for his patients. He communicates effectively on what to expect throughout a procedure and makes himself available at any time for questions or concerns. He alone has a calming presence for me as a patient. Thank you Dr. Tran and the entire staff.....while I hope I don't need to use you in the future...if I ever do need to I will be back without hesitation. definitely could've done better. poor communication from front desk to surgeon. he wasn't expecting to perform the surgery that day. He only wanted to take photos and send me on my way. when he did perform the surgery I just felt really disorganized. I just wanted to get a frenectomy to improve my TMJ. It's already grown back and I did all the exercises. I don't know that the laser worked and I don't wanna have to pay to do it again at least definitely not through this company. I often call and get no one and when I walk in there was no one at the counter for 12 minutes. read more

I had bone grafting done. I am somewhat medically complicated and I explained this at every single visit with dentist and staff and checked on multiple times that they would be able to accommodate me. Bone grafting was incredibly painful. Dentist wouldn't listen that I was in pain and berated me for asking for additional numbing. He even went as far as telling me he was numbing me and in a nasty tone asked if I wanted him to I do a pain block that would just numb everything. I've never experienced such pain. I was digging my fingernails into my hands and arms it was so bad. Prior to procedure a staff member tried to give me a medication that I am allergic to. I can only take certain pain meds. Multiple times prior to my appointment I explained this and verified that they would be able to prescribe pain control that my body tolerates. Each time I was assured that they could. Come to day of surgery and dentist says he can't give me anything that I can tolerate for pain meds. He asked in the past when I had pain meds who prescribed. I said the surgeon who performed the surgery. He told me I needed to go to that surgeon for pain meds. He told me I needed to go to that surgeon for pain meds. Such a ridiculous suggestion. No surgeon is going to provide pain meds for another medical provider. I had to scramble to get an appointment with my PCP and in the meantime had to manage my own pain - absolutely ridiculous. Dr. Tran seems nice-ish but super rushed in all encounters. When I explained to staff at post opp visit that I was discontinuing care with this dentist because he was so incredibly rough and disregarded my pain. Staff member brought dentist in to talk to me. I again explained why I was discontinuing care with the practice. The doctor said it was my fault that no one knew of my medication needs and medical condition that limits what meds I can take even though I told him and his staff at every visit plus double checking with staff. He said it was my responsibility to provide all this in writing and that my verbal communication with him and his staff was not enough. Dr. Tran talks down to patients and speaks as if I am dumb and irresponsible. I'm severely traumatized by my encounterii and want to share my experience so others don't go through the same thing. read more

I've always had great experiences here, they've taken great care of me. The lady I had today was very fun, happy, positive, and was great about talking to me to keep my mind off what was happening. Such a great experience every three months that I come for my cleaning. Front desk Tammy was pleasant and happy when she greeted me. Briana was excellent with her hands. It makes my stress and nervous free when I layed on that chair. Sherri was such a helpful person and very happy to help out. Dr. Tran is an amazing man and excellent care with me. So patience and details with me. I love him and very happy everytime I see him when I walk in and out. He always says hi and making funny jokes so all my soreness after the deep cleaning disappeared. Everyone in this office is very nice and care for their patients. They all listen to my complicated history and all care for my health. This was not a procedure I had planned and have been scarred with any and all dental procedures while growing up from dentists, orthodontists, and oral surgeons who were "just doing their job". Nevertheless, the tooth that broke off had to be pulled and the implant needed to be done. Despite all of my anxieties, Dr. Tran and his staff had the trilogy that I desperately needed. They were all very understanding, very informative and very caring. I could not have asked for a better experience all the way around and am so grateful and appreciative that they have chosen the career path that they are in.
