I found this highly Disgusting! Secondly, anytime I tried to ask a question with this same person, I was abruptly interrupted half way every time I spoke. Regardless of how many attempts to finish the same question (did she just not hear me?), I was continually met with the same repetitive interruption, "you can ask Dr. Baskerville". Not showing a bit of concern of what I had to say, or even knowing what I was going to ask, pretty much made me feel uncomfortable enough to just want to leave. At this very same time, Dr. Baskerville walked in, asked me how i was doing, and to be honest, let him know exactly how I felt, and at that very moment made the decision to leave, hoping to avoid any further conflict. Why didn't I just overlook it all, and continue my appointment? In my mind, complaining about it only made matters worse, as the assistant was within ear shot the entire time, knowing she would be the one assisting my Dentist. Especially having had the previous experience of many times, having this same person continually jam the vacuum hose into my mouth, causing intermittent sharp pain, and deep enough to cause me to want to gag. A problem I've never had with other dental assistants. I never complained about it then, but enough is enough. During this time, I was told, "People have their good days and bad days". This is true, and that's ok, but highly recommend, if having a bad day, stay home, and don't position yourself around people who solely rely on positive reassurance and trust while in a dental chair.

I am hearing disabled and with everyone wearing masks it was impossible to have a conversation. My not being able to hear her seemed to irritate the doctor to no end. I worked with the office staff over e-mail prior to my first visit to develop a treatment plan that was workable and affordable using my insurance. Apparently, this plan was never run by Dr Nguyen for approval. During my visit Dr Nguyen said I needed to go to a Periodontist and not come back until s/he has cleared out several pockets in my gums. My dental health has been in decent shape (for a very old man) and I've been under the care of a very good Dentist for many decades. He retired several years ago so I've been looking for a new dentist that is in-network for my insurance. I was told that I would be getting "Periodontal Maintenance" treatments at Perfect Smiles so when I inquired why I was being sent elsewhere the Doctor blew a fuse. So excuse me for not knowing that "periodontal maintenance" is not actually performed by a Periodontist. You may totally love this place. Clearly some of my fellow Yelpsters do. While the staff was very nice (at least until I was politely told to go elsewhere) all that sweetness and sugar coating is a facade. I started seeing my previous dentist when we were both young. He was right out of OHSU dental college. I was hoping that he would outlive me but I never imagined that he would retire just because I did. If you don't have a regular dentist that you know and trust you may find locating one in this town to be quite a challenge. Dr Nguyen was crankier (at least towards me) than any Naval dentist ever was and those guys are legendary for being crabby.

I came here for a filling and both of them were joking and having like conversations to whole time, which made it very relaxed. I was quite impressed with his training. . . and the office is very impressive with a great group of staff members. He had been Scot's dentist for several years and Scot needed extensive dental work but always delayed going. He had so many things on his plate. From the initial visits where they defined his plan, lots had changed due to the delay. It was more than a year. Things got worse. Today we are going back to find out the updated plan. Yesterday he had to pull some teeth and told us he would be working on a new plan. Luckily he can do oral surgery too. I'll report again after today.
